Great property, very formal, great service, but lacked that Jamaican vibe

My family and I stayed at this resort from 1/13/18 to 1/19/18. We had a problem when we checked in that was resolved the next day but we were told it would be resolved sooner. After we got over that, our stay was excellent, very clean resort, service and staff were excellent. Veronica was our server in the buffet and she was wonderful as were the other servers. Diandra at the front desk was also excellent. Like other reviews stated, you are catered to the entire time and that feels wonderful, however, I truly felt that the culture was held back. I have been to Jamaica about 8 times and have stayed at different resorts from Ocho Rios to Montego Bay as well as Nigril. Although the service and overall resort experience was exceptional, I personally want to feel the Jamaican vibe and culture. I'm sure this resort is great for most people, but my family and I want a different experience, more casual, more laid back and more "No worries and Yah Mon"

This is a great, clean resort with super service

We just returned from 2 weeks at this resort and it was the best vacation we have had in awhile. In reference to prior reviews we read;* our room and the hotel in general were super clean (I have vacation rentals so am really picky)* service was friendly, prompt, never had to ask for anything more than once, if you even had to ask once* the beach was kept clean unless the weather was rainy and windy, which would cause seagrass on the beach. As soon as the weather cleared the staff were raking to clean it up* the food was wonderful - plenty of options even for 2 weeks* this is a great mix of adult and family. We had no kids with us (35 year anniversary) and the end of the resort we were at had very few kids (not that we have a problem with kids). This resort has a WIDE variety of things to do, 5 or 6 pools, etc... although it is rather small (maybe 750 rooms I think). It's small enough that people with kids won't worry about them getting too far away. No lines for the flow-rider, dolphin swim (on site), ocean toys, big water slide, etc....Going outside the resort gates was a little nerve racking - not like strolling into Cozumel or Playa Del Carmen. We stayed mostly in the resort. Weed is legal and easy to find if you want it but not prevalent or "problematic" at all. Go outside the gates toward town and you can get it easily if you want it.In regard to people complaining of small balconies, there are 3 buildings and I am guessing some different rates. One building has very small balconies - not big enough for furniture but you can open the doors and let the outside in. Another building I think is alot of suites but with lots of balconies. Building 3 (where we stayed) had really large rooms and suites with large comfortable balconies and a full wall of glass doors that open wide. For people complaining about seeing roof tops - wow. Look past them to the ocean. That happens in high rise buildings. Spa was excellent but if you have any minor medical condition, if you think it is not going to be a problem for a massage or whatever, don't put it on the form. The spa manager will tell you that you can't have whatever services in case your "condition" is a problem. We've been getting TONS of spa treatments for 20 years and never been turned down. In fact we have bought a special spa package, so were surprised that this spa manager denied the services and would not budge. We found a work around and got what we wanted but be choosy about what you put on their spa form.We are Palace members (X 20 years) and this is comparablle with other Palace Resorts. We will go back.Great service from soooo many staff: Otis and Tishawna at the front took great care of us, Cheryl, Gary and Brandon at the Steak and Seafood restaurant, several great folks in the spa, just too many to name who really went out of their way to make our stay great.

The most amazing vacation

This hotel and the whole entire trip was hands down the best vacation I have ever been on. They cater to your every need they will even go out of their way to make sure your stay is everything you could ever imagine and more. The hotel is gorgeous all of the food, drinks, pools and different bars are amazing. The different activities they have to offer will exceed your wildest dreams. Everyone at the hotel is incredibly friendly and they make you feel like family and you will never want to leave. The couple of shows that I got to experience were amazing. The Michael Jackson show made me feel like I was really watching Michael preform. The loud bar was so much fun with a wonderful live band. The piano bar was such a great time the pianist was a great performer and could definitely play that piano he was a great entertainer. The most fun of all time was the club Noir on the resort. I will forever have the memories from this club. I have never met such amazing people in my entire life. We were constantly waited on, asked about our trip everyone was so easy to talk to. I had the pleasure of meeting Shenika who was teaching me a bunch of Jamaican dances that I will never forget and use everywhere I party now. The other staff was great as well Natasha, Yasheka, Nastassia and Drizzle. The club manager Omar, the security guard Shawn and one of the best DJ's I have ever partied with Mr. Juniour Some of the best people I have ever met in my life were the bartenders Lenroy,Nicholas and Ronald. They were very attentive they were dancing with us behind the bar, doing tricks and just making the experience something I would never ever forget and I will miss all of them and never forget them. This trip was an experience of a lifetime you will forever miss the Moon Palace and I know when I come back to Jamacia I will always stay at the Moon Palace. I give this hotel the highest rating you can give them for the food, drink, the activities, the ocean, the pools and most of all everyone working here. I will forever hold the experiences that I had and the people that I met close to my heart and I will never forget. This was hands down the most amazing vacation I have ever been on.

Family Vacation over winter break

Overall, we had a great time. The shuttle from the airport was almost two hours, VERY LONG! We got the family deluxe which was nice but not large. The doors between the two rooms opened in the wrong direction, so that seemed very silly. We stayed over Christmas so being right near town, the locals party until 6AM and our beds were thumping with the booming music, you felt like you were there. They did this a few nights before Christmas and then on boxing day. My husband complained about the noise and the last two nights they moved us to the presidential suite in another building so we couldn't hear town. It was much nicer and quiet. The food was fantastic. The Italian restaurant, Japanese and Seafood restaurants were great. The seafood restaurant was so nice right on the beach. The drinks were great too, and the buffet was one of the best we have had and i'm not a buffet lover. All of the staff were beyond kind and so helpful. My kids never wanted to leave the kids club, they loved it there. All of the women in the kids club were amazing, so lovely, kind, patient, just beyond fabulous. They all deserve raises, the kids club was fabulous! The shows weren't great, nothing to really waste your time on. Swimming with the dolphins was fun and the kids loved it. The spa was fantastic, I don't recommend the wraps but the massages were great. We took a sunset cruise and all i can say is that it was awful! I have never gotten seasick but it was a windy day and they should NOT have gone out. The waves were 10 foot plus and they didn't give anyone life jackets until I asked them for my two young children. It was very dangerous and I don't think they should have gone out. Half of the boat was sick, it was an awful two hours, the worst! I got very sick and couldn't wait to get back. The snorkeling trip was great and the guys who run it are amazing. Overall, it was a great trip with some minor hiccups.
