The new owners/operators have done a wonderful refurbishing job. The food is absolutely great.....the themed restaurants are wonderful. Staff is kind and polite....overall service is great. Since it was a business stay, did not get to sample the other services. Had a good stay.
We went as a family with parents and 6 adult children. The resort itself was very nice. No one bothered you at the beach. Staff were helpful. Wifi was good (even at the beach). Food was exceptional. Every restaurant we tried was unique and excellent tasting. The beds were the most comfortable ever!! Housekeeping in hallways could use some help but only because they used brooms to clean the carpet. Ocho Rios itself was not a nice place to venture into. Very dirty. We stayed in the resort the whole time for the most part.
I visited moon palace Jamaica grande for a week with a group of 15 people. We all love the spa and the activities offer at this resort and the food overall is good, but it does not have as much variety compared to hard rock Cancun. In terms of service it's a hit or a miss for us. The good: a shout out to those who work at pier 8. It's the best restaurant of all those offer at the resort and also have the best service. Dwayne, Kevin, chef Michael and captain Bradley are all great. The lady that greeted us was good too. She impressed me when she remembered my son's allergy and his name. Sorry I forgot your name. Also a thank you to whoever was kind enough to give me and my sister connecting rooms so our kids can play. The bad: we booked all our tours with the resort credits a month before we arrived. We sent them a spreadsheet with the time and the activities. Got a response that everything was booked and good to go. Fast forward to our first day at the resort and found out that while the tours were booked the time and date got changed. We were never informed of the changes so it ended up to be in conflict with the tours we booked outside. Spending time to argue and sort everything out on our first day of arrival is not my idea of a good start to a vacation. We also found service at the buffet abysmal. Example: We knew it's a buffet but if you spilled drinks on the table then please at least clean up. Instead the server just say sorry and left us to the mess. Overalls except for some service hiccups we do enjoyed our stay there.
We came here for four days and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The staff are fantastic and are NOT begging for money like someone else said on here. They were very nice and helpful. The food and restaurants were first class. The patisserie was amazing, and I'm sure the ice cream was best ever. The entertainment was very good too and when I come back to Jamaica I'd definitely come here. They even surprised us by bringing a hand made birthday cake as it was our birthdays and bubbles too, just amazing hotel and people, thanks to all.
We stayed at the Moon Palace Jamaica for our family vacation. The resort was beautiful and all the employees we very friendly and helpful. The whole resort was clean and up to date. The entertainment staff was very good and made sure everyone felt welcome. You are super close to the shopping area and can walk straight out the gates if you want to buy anything. Hotel was very secure and safe. The rooms are smaller than we are use to - compared to Palace resorts in Playa Del Carmen. The only problems we encountered was they put us in a room right next to the service elevator and it was kind of loud in the mornings. They also did not stock the refrigerator every day like it was supposed to be. We had to call and have them come stock it back up daily. So stay on top of that if you want a stocked refrigerator. The elevators take forever so make sure you leave your room in plenty of time because you will be waiting for one to come no matter which floor you are staying on. The other disappointment was the resort credit. We ended up having over 700.00 left since there was not many things you can use that credit on. The restaurants were good. Nothing extraordinary but good food. We didn't starve by any means. We really enjoyed the steak grille- ate there a couple times and visited the buffet a lot. We never tried the seafood restaurant so I can't say anything about that one. The Italian restaurant was just ok same with hibachi grill. Plenty of swimming pools to choose from. All very nice. A couple hot tubs also. The beach is another thing. I don't think I seen many people on the beach. It is small and not very nice to swim in. Over all the stay was nice and relaxing. It was not that busy so nothing was really crowded. We were not harassed about becoming members of palace resorts. Told them no one time and that was it. Which was good compared to some of the reviews we had read. We had a good time and plan to try out other Palace resorts.
