I'm am pleased to be reviewing this property!! Rooms saved me from staying at a nearby hotel that someone suggested that I stay at.Rooms allowed me to stay on there phone to contact my travel agency for the switch. Rooms prepared to receive me the following morning and I was happy!! Thanks...However the breakfast was free but unacceptable!! Even the cooked breakfast was HORRIBLE!! Who was the chef? I was again just so happy to be there that i enjoyed the location and the beach. The staff were fantastic, I always felt safe....
Hotel was run down and in need of upgrades. Staff were nice but overtasked, food left in hallways, public beach in front was dirty and many dealers hanging out in front of hotel all night. Water leaked from ceilings in hallways and key cards for room were always needing reprogramming.
My husband and I stayed the week of December 9. We had stayed at Riu resorts before and were excited to experience Jamaica at the Riu. First it rained most of the week but liquid sunshine has never dampen our spirit to enjoy ourselves and have fun. The room is rustic ( positive way of saying dated) but the room was very clean. The housekeeping staff were wonderful and were the friendliest at the whole resort. The hostess’s at the specialty restaurants were very rude to many of the guests including us. The guests were asked to leave and come back around 8:30 .... the guest were waiting outside the restaurant and the hostess opened the restaurant door and told them there was no loitering. When you did get inside you were not seated at your table but the hostess’s would motion in the direction of a free table and “go there”. The bartenders at the majority of the bars did not acknowledge you and were too busy having a conversation amongst themselves. We have been to many resorts and the Riu was terrible regarding friendliness. The wait staff, servers, bartenders must of left their friendliness at home so the housekeeping, grounds keepers and custodial staff got our tips $$ as they were the friendliest people to be around. We were truly disappointed. The beach was beautiful and clean, the majority of the food was good, although rustic it had it’s charm BUT the friendliness we are accustomed to when traveling was extremely lacking here.
We spent 3 nights at the Rooms on the beach and the place was clean. But the place requires a lot of upgrades. Leaky faucets, noisy doors, noisy neighbors, poor internet in the room and broken handset phone are the issues that made me give a rating of 3. It is on the beach, the staffs are really nice, breakfast was good, but the place needs some upgrade in the mentioned areas. If you can tolerate the banging door noise in the middle of the night, and not care much of the rest, it is a better place for the price. Front desk folks are very kind, but with limited power. Overall, recommend this place to anyone.
