Our friends stayed there this year and we as well as our families stayed here many times and knew what to expect for our money A small fridge in every room is a necessity especially if you are staying more than a week! I hear that some elderly people may need it for their medicines, etc!We went to have breakfast and that d.... rotary toaster was not working again! Had bacon and eggs - not really done to your order, with a slice of bread!Need a better chef! Nothing happened on Valentine's Day and it was a perfect opportunity for hotel to have a buffet and make some money to maybe fix the toaster!!
Old furniture adds to the more rustic ambience. Could be cleaner in the rooms, especially the floors. Run down with chipped sinks and tile. Makes it feel like you are in a more local place and more in line with the culture. We had some issues with the staff in the we are a married couple but were assigned 2 small beds rather than 1 king and they wouldn't change even though others in our group came after and would have been better suited to our room. No outside of the box thinking. Good location with its own clean small beach and pool. Pool bar is cute and good drinks. Not a place for higher end travelers but good for those who want more of a local feel. Not really worth the price but I would still recommend it for theadventure travelers who may want to check out some local mountain biking like we did.
My husband and I spent a week here and enjoyed our stay very much. It is a bit dated but it is clean and there were no bugs in our room which is all that matters. We spent a lot of time on the beach which was nice and not crowded at all. There was plenty of shade to put your lounger if you wanted to avoid the sun. You can buy beer at the grocery store and take it to the beach. Some locals will gladly take your empty bottles as they can return them for a refund. Restaurants and grocery stores were in walking distance. The only negatives were no fridge in the room but you could rent one, mattress was too firm for my liking and there was only a thin sheet and thin bedspread although some people may prefer that. It wouldn't stop me from staying there again.
I spent a week at Rooms at the end of January 2017 and had a good overall experience while there. While not exactly modern, the place was clean and generally well maintained. Staff were friendly to deal with and would try and answer questions or help out if possible. The continental breakfast each morning was quite nice, with a selection of cereals, bread/toast, a muffin with jam, some fresh fruit, a glass of juice, and coffee available. I am not sure why they continue to use the rotary toaster which hardly works (you have to put the bread through about 3 times to get any 'toasting') and don't replace it with 4 or 5 regular toasters. I had several lunches and dinners at the restaurant as well, and they were alright, but rather non-exciting. Prices were reasonable for a resort hotel and the service was attentive. The room I had was spacious and pleasant during the day (the weather was quite perfect during my stay ..... 30C every day and hardly a bug to be seen). The a/c worked well at night, and the bed was quite comfortable. Other than on Friday night, when the Mongoose Bar was blasting until about 2:00 am, the nights were quiet once the insect noise settled down. The bathroom was showing its age somewhat, but everything did work as it was supposed to. There is shower gel and shampoo in the shower/bath, but no other hand soaps, etc are provided so bring your own if you will be needing it. All in all, it was much as I expected it to be, so was satisfied with my stay there. It is not the Moon Palace like next door, but then again, it is not $900 a night.
Average hotel. Exactly what I expected. A little older but clean. Nice beach... they were out every morning cleaning the pool and beach. Pool closes early. If you want night life...find a different hotel. This one is wonderfully quiet! We watched 4 cruiseships dock. Pretty cool view. If you're high end...you wont be happy. If your focus is to explore the island... its a great launch pad. Minutes away from blue hole... tubing... dunns falls. Right in town for shopping too.
