Sandals Ochi Beach Resort
- What's Included
- All Inclusive Features
The Sandals Ochi Beach Resort is a huge resort set amongst beautiful gardens in a very relaxed setting. The back section of the resort is where you will find The Ciboney Villa Suites, these are very impressive with private pools, but are a bit farther from the beach. A multi-million dollar renovation in 2015 features a fresh, modern design aesthetic along with seven uniquely new Gourmet Discovery Dining options and a trendy Ochi Beach Club. Like most Sandals resorts, this one is definitely recommended for couples looking for romance and relaxation.
Nestled between the St. Ann Mountains and the Caribbean Sea, Sandals Ochi Beach Resort features three unique vacation experiences in one: the vibrant beach culture of the Caribbean Rivera, the chic Ciboney Villa Suites located in lush tropical gardens; and the heart and pulse of the resort, the Manor House with its fantasy pool all come together to create an unforgettable getaway. From championship golf and a renowned scuba program to world-class dining at 11 restaurants and private strolls along Ocho Rios' longest beach; from luxurious Butler Service suites with 24-hour room service to a full-service Red Lane Spa and unlimited land & water sports, this exquisite sanctuary offers something to tempt every guest.
Location: Beachfront in Ocho Rios. 1 hour and 45 minutes from the airport.
This was our first time to a Sandals and unfortunately we just weren't blown away. There is nothing really negative to say,we just felt it was a standard all inclusive hotel. We stayed in the butler village. Our Butlers; Ray and Cameka were lovely. The issue here is that so many people have butlers it just doesn't make you feel special and when they are trying to get everyone to dinner sometimes it didn't feel personal. The private pool was cold and appeared dirty so we didn't use itThe food and drinks were amazing in all the restaurants and bars. Le Gourmand was our favourite for dinner and we loved the Southern table buffet for breakfast. We saw Mama at the Rabbit Hole and loved every minute. My main issue was the reserving of sunbeds, it was a real problem and you had to be up early to get one, I did not expect this from a Sandals resort. One day I witnessed a female lifeguard reserve 14 beds using towels and lost property. I put it on the loop and I was assured it would be dealt with and it was but that didn't stop everyone else!We spoke to others who have been to multiple different Sandals resorts and they assured us Ochi is not the norm so we will try again next year somewhere different before we decide Sandals isn't for us.
This is a really nice resort. Lots of great restaurants options and bars. The Rabbit Hole is a must do! Very large resort with the road that splits half of the property that is on the mountain and the other that is by the beach. There is a good shuttle service though that goes around. The only negative thing is the beach is super small.
I stayed here for my wife's 30th birthday, we were in the butler village. This place is paradise, the staff were excellent and everyone made our stay very enjoyable.Fully stocked fridge that's filled everyday, top shelf alcohol included (cocktails in the Rabbit Hole were beautiful).Very good entertainment and the dining in every restaurant was of a high standard. Will definitely return!
We had our wedding at Ochi Rios Sandals. It was just the two of us and we were really impressed by wedding staff. Daniela and other wedding staff really made it work out well and I was so happy for it to come together so well. You guys did a great job!!! The resort is broken up into three parts, but we never made it to the beach side, as we were there to celebrate our wedding and honeymoon and really didn't have time. We had the Romeo and Juliet butler suites. At times, we had our butler take us to different locations and at other times relied on the "Hop". Despite what others say about the small and large hop, get over it. They run very frequently and you do not have to wait long to get transportation to wherever you are going on the resort. The butlers were excellent and were there for you whenever you needed something. Great job to Josie (who is so sweet) and Damien. We had times where we really didn't need them and wanted to be alone, so we didn't use them as often as we could have. They both decorated our suite for our wedding night and thereafter with flower petals, champagne and special treats. A+ to Josie and Damien. The servers and bartenders everywhere don't get enough credit. They are all very professional and mix awesome drinks. The only down side of the resort, I would say, has to be the condition of the rooms. Our room was mostly clean but really needed updated or replaced. The grout in the shower really needs either replaced or cleaned. The shower pressure wasn't that great, but if it was any stronger, it would push water out into the floor of entire bathroom. The carpets needed deep cleaned (especially the separate room with dining table and sink) and the mat outside the of the bedroom suite was gross. Always had to wear slippers to protect your feet. The chair inside the bedroom needed replaced or deep cleaned. White chair had stains on it and the housekeeping staff never really wiped down our dining table and might have needed to mop the tile floor a little more often. Found floor to be dirty. I'm thinking that they don't put a lot of effort into it, as they cannot receive tips. Maybe it would help if guests would treat the room as it they were at home. Who knows. The room service menu could really use some updating. There were very few items on the menu and obviously didn't really require a lot of preparation. On the last day that we were there, we were to be picked up by a little "hop" at 4:30 am, with our luggage picked up at 4:00 am. Well, our ride got there at 4:30 and we went with the luggage. The driver looked like he was either too tired or something, but we had to carry our bags to the vehicle. He only lifted luggage into the vehicle and leaned up against it, as we were bringing luggage too him, as he looked way too tired to be up that early. I realize that it was early, but if you don't like your job, get another one. So, I would certainly go to this resort again. Most staff made this occasion most memorable. For butlers request Josie and Damien and of course Daniela and staff for your wedding. You guys rock!!
Unfortunately didn't meet our expectations that Sandals nurture from their excellent marketing.Did we enjoy ourselves? Yes we did, there were some good points and a number of areas for improvement. We booked the Butler experience, which unless we didn't use it properly we and our friends found a little unreliable and a bit of a gimmick - A shout out for Ray though who was the star performer out of the 4 butlers allocated to our rooms.Overall the staff on resort were very friendly and helpful and added to our first Visit to Jamaica. The food on the whole was OK, plenty of choice in the numerous restaurants - However, we were expecting it to be exceptional. The Kimono, Manor and Kelly's were our favourites for dinner and the French for breakfast is a winner too.A shout out for Melissa at Dino's for great service and good pizzas for lunch. The food was often only Luke warm and an area for improvement in our opinion. The rooms were ok but dated and in need of renovation. Particularly the bathrooms. Our toilet was noisy and required 2/3 flushes to work properly. The all inclusive drinks were ok both in the room and on resort - Better quality wines are available as an extra. The pool areas are good, the entertainment a little noisy in the day. Beds and cabanas comfortable.Free wi-fi ok but I increased mine at a charge of $79 for a week. One last thing the journey from the airport is 90 minutes or so and can be a little hairy with the drivers on their phones and driving too quickly.
