- All Inclusive Features
The Sandals Ochi Beach Resort is a huge resort set amongst beautiful gardens in a very relaxed setting. The back section of the resort is where you will find The Ciboney Villa Suites, these are very impressive with private pools, but are a bit farther from the beach. A multi-million dollar renovation in 2015 features a fresh, modern design aesthetic along with seven uniquely new Gourmet Discovery Dining options and a trendy Ochi Beach Club. Like most Sandals resorts, this one is definitely recommended for couples looking for romance and relaxation.
Nestled between the St. Ann Mountains and the Caribbean Sea, Sandals Ochi Beach Resort features three unique vacation experiences in one: the vibrant beach culture of the Caribbean Rivera, the chic Ciboney Villa Suites located in lush tropical gardens; and the heart and pulse of the resort, the Manor House with its fantasy pool all come together to create an unforgettable getaway. From championship golf and a renowned scuba program to world-class dining at 11 restaurants and private strolls along Ocho Rios' longest beach; from luxurious Butler Service suites with 24-hour room service to a full-service Red Lane Spa and unlimited land & water sports, this exquisite sanctuary offers something to tempt every guest.
Location: Beachfront in Ocho Rios. 1 hour and 45 minutes from the airport.
My husband and I spent ten days at Sandals Ochi for our honeymoon and we had the time of our lives. We were in awe of the views and all of the details around the resort. We stayed on the beach side which we were very happy with. We like a lively atmosphere. We took it upon ourselves to have our own tour instead of the group tour. We obviously had to stop someone and ask where we could eat breakfast because we got lost. The young man ended up becoming a great friend of ours by the end of our trip. Rosane was on sick leave from an arm injury and not actually working but he showed us where to eat and promised to meet up with us again. He was very professional while also making jokes and making us feel so comfortable. We quickly made lots of friends around the resort but he was the one we shared meals with at Tapas and danced every night with. We spent our evenings at the speakeasy and dancing at the beach bar with our friend Rosane. After we spent one night with him we had to guilt him into it for the whole trip. We had a big group and all of the men learned some new dance moves thats for sure. They made for awesome videos and laughs. We all agreed that Rosane was a highlight of our trip! The playmakers were our favorite part of our vacation. We played nonstop games at the beach side pool bar all day everyday. We connected with Playmaker Patrick and Sailin as well. They are amazing people. We shared meals with them as well as Rosane and Gerine. We feel like we left there with friendships and memories we will keep. They are amazing people and I really dont think our honeymoon would have been such an amazing success without them. We spent 10 days with them, learned about their lives and had a blast. My husband and I love to meet new people so meeting such amazing playmakers that we got to hang out with was great. We talk about coming back next year but we worry it will never live up to our honeymoon if the same people arent there. We loved the restaurants.... Kimonos and the french restaurant were our favorite. We also loved going to the breakfast buffet and tapas in groups with all of the people we had met. If I could go back right now I would. My husband and I would be at the beach bar dancing and talking with Rosane, Sailin, and our Chicago friends listening to the great Dj's with some tequila mojitos! We miss them already!
Our 14th trip to Jamaica, and first to a Sandals. Loved most things about it! Amenities were beautiful. Water was blue and clear. Housekeeping perfect. Resort was fun and beautiful. Things that could be better, coffee service around the resort should be better attended to. Desserts were not very good at any of the restaurants. Pancakes and French toast and breakfast were never fresh! Would go back in a minute. Great liquor and drinks! Of course, amazing Jamaican people!
I spent a week at Sandals Ochi Beach mid-October with my boyfriend to celebrate our anniversary and had a great time. We stayed in the Honeymoon Grande Luxe Poolside Villa Club Level Room - PV on the Hillside.Arriving:As soon as we cleared customs, which was super fast, we easily found the Sandals waiting lounge, which we were greeted by the friendly staff members. They tagged our baggage for us, and I think that was the last time we touched our luggage till we returned to the airport. They take care of everything for you! We were told it would be about a 20 min wait till the bus was ready, but I think it was closer to 10 as we barely had time to finish our beers. We told one of the staff members that we were here to celebrate our anniversary and right before we stepped on the bus, he came out and brought us and the couple on the bus with us champagne for the trip! We stopped at Scotchies just past the airport for amazing jerk chicken, pork, festivals and beer. The drive took about an hour and a half, but went by quickly. The drivers are not employees of Sandals, so tipping them is not included, our driver was fantastic, so we tipped $2 per bag.As soon as we arrived Sandals, the staff got our luggage and got us all checked in. Our room was club level, so we were taken into the separate concierge room which was air conditioned, a nice relief as we weren't used to such high heat and humidity quite yet. If you want to make any reservations, have questions, this is the place to call or stop by. They also have a cappuccino/latte/coffee maker with cookies and pastries any time of the day.Room:Our room was really nice! We were up on this hillside villas, but only a few rows back, in villa 10. There was a small walk to the room up a hill, but with all the amazing food here, that hill and distance are nice to help walk off the food ;) They also have little trucks that will drive you up and down the hill if you want, we didn't end up using them though. I don't think our room had renovations yet, as there were some scuffs on the tiles, and paint, but it was such a nice room and well appointed with a huge bathroom, massive shower and counter space, we couldn't complain. The deck off our room was also huge and looked out into the jungle, ocean and our semi-private pool. My only suggestion would be to add cushions to the wicker chairs as they could be uncomfortable after a while. The rooms were always cleaned and restocked daily with drinks, coffee and bathroom products, and even some towel animals! One thing I thought was a nice touch was the size of the shampoo, conditioned and body lotion bottles, they were larger than any other resort and in the capped squeeze bottles rather than the twist off small ones. The products are under their spa brand, smelled amazing and were of high quality. Overall, it was a great space for the price and I would definitely stay in that room category again.Food:All I can say about the food is WOW! I don't think we have a single bad thing to say about the food at this resort. For breakfast, we mostly ate at Le Gourmand or ordered room service. Le Gourmand is a must try for breakfast, amazing banana french toast and eggs Benedict. The room service was also fantastic and was great to eat on the deck of our room, watching the world go by. My suggestion would be to order it as soon as you get up, as it can take about 45 mins to arrive. Also, if you're a big coffee drinker like me, order a carafe of coffee per person, it's fantastic!.Lunch we usually had at the tapas restaurant by the beach, the jerk shack or pizza places, all of which were great and open quite early and stay open late which is great. All of them seemed to offer a way to take it "to go" which is great if you wanted to eat at the pool or beach.Dinner was also amazing. We tried the Southern Table, Kimonos, Soy, Kelly's, Le Gourmand, Valintinos and the Manor House. Southern table had a fantastic pumpkin soup and beef brisket. Kimonos was so much fun and a great show. Soy had a great variety of sushi. Kellys has the best fillet mignon I have ever had, highly recommended. Also, the Blue Mountain Rub steak at Manor House is to die for, the lava cake dessert is a fantastic way to finish off the meal. All restaurants seemed to have a vegetarian, gluten free, pork, chicken, seafood and beef option to them which was great. They always asked if we had any allergies or dietary needs.Grounds, Pools & Beach:I loved how the resort was separated into two sides, both with unique buildings and architecture. We stayed on the hillside lots, which had a giant pool for swimming, a huge swim-up bar that was never over crowded and fast, plus two pools just above. If you're looking for fun and games, the big pool is for you. If you want to relax and have some quite time, the two upper pools are for you. Also, at night the pools are still open, and I highly recommend a night swim in the two upper pools, the lighting and fires are incredible. The great house is huge and was a bit confusing as to which staircase led you where, but was easy to figure out after a day or two.The beach side was also great. If you want long walks on the beach, this place isn't for you, but having said that, the beach is awesome. You can always find a chair, and the beach club side has lots of fish to see if you want to snorkel a bit. The whole place is beautifully maintained and well taken care of.Around the resort they have lawn chess, boccee, basketball and other games fully stocked right there with the rules of play if you're unfamiliar. This was great as you never had to track anyone down to ask for the supplies, or rent them. The hop is used to get between the two side. There are three stops: hillside, beach club and the beach house. The waiting areas are sheltered from the sun, had comfy couches, water, and were really nice. The beach house and hill side run till 2am and come by every ten minutes, but we never had to wait more than 5 minutes. The beach club hop ran till 11, but the beach house was a few minute walk away, I don't think you'd end up stranded on one side.Entertainment: One thing I really loved about this place is that you can keep it as quite and low key as you want, or be right in the middle of the action. The playmakers are fantastic and put on great events. Pool Olympics and all their games are so much fun and a great way to meet new people or even win prizes! If you want to play volleyball, or want a ball to throw around in the ocean, just ask them and they're more than happy to grab you one.The singer at the Rabbit Hole was also a fun night, she's on from 9-10:30ish most nights so make sure to go see her! They also have outdoor movies with big comfy day beds for a toned down night. The chocolate party is also great, we were pretty tired so we just grabbed a plate of chocolates and took it up to our pool to eat.Spa, Cabanas & Golf:We had the Deep Relief Couples Massage and it was incredible! The two massage therapists we had were Desiree and Doreen, who were amazing!! If your're going to the spa, I would highly recommend requesting them, they were hilarious and gave great massages. We used the $185 spa credit which lowered the bill quite a bit, I think it was $120 with the service charge after the credits, plus the tip.I rented a hillside pool cabana for the day and it was $50. The cabanas were really nice, covered to stay out of the sun and included two loungers, a table and chairs, drink service and they'll bring you any food you'd like. My boyfriend went golfing for a day and said it was great. The caddie was a 25 year pro vet and knew the course well. All drinks and food are included there.Overall, you can't go wrong with this resort. There is so much to do with activities, or you're able to do as little as you want. The daily newspaper from the resort is a great way to keep track of all the events and activities going on. It includes all the restaurants and what time they're open (fantastic because there's so many!), the different activities hosted by the play-makers and where, the aqua sports activities and times (snorkel, scuba, and boat trips), as well as any evening entertainment or discounts offered at the gift shop and spa. This was our first trip to a Sandals resort, but it definitely won't be the last!!
Of all the Sandals resorts this is the cheapest to experience butler service. It is totally worth it! They have a completely separate part of the resort for those partaking in the butler experience. We had a bungalow that we shared with another couple and that was it. It included a pool that was just for the two rooms. The service was amazing. I really can't express how well you are taken care of by your 2 private butlers that are assigned to you. They pick you up for all your dinner reservations and book all of your trips. This part of the island is amazing and beautiful. Be sure to visit the speakeasy as classic cocktails flow to an elegant 20's atmosphere. This is our 2nd trip to a Sandals and they keep us coming back.
This was my 7th Sandals/Beaches stay and my 2nd at Sandals Ochi. I have been to all of the Jamaican properties(except Royal Plantation) and the property in Nassau. I had to let this trip settle a little to see if my perspective changed, but ultimately I had to go with 4 stars. I am simply basing that off of my previous Sandals/Beaches experiences. The Great:1. The amenities and features of this resort have really been upgraded immensely since my last visit in 2007. The attention to detail in all of the different thematic restaurants, bars, and venues is excellent. 2. OCHI Beach Club3. Spa4. The "wreck dive" through the Scuba center5. Lots of pools and private places to relax and feel isolated and romantic. 6. Housekeeping staffThe Good:1. The food was consistently good through all of the restaurants that we utilized. (Kelly's, Kimonos, Jerk Shack, Beach Party, Bella Napoli, Reef Terrace, Soy, Sky Terrace, Tapas on the Riviera)2. Golf-unfortunately my caddie from previous trips was no longer available. Honestly, I was not happy with the caddie in my first round so I used a different one for my 2nd. Golf course was in decent shape and it's a nice trip off the resort to a beautiful setting. 3. Dive Center-Boat staff were great, dives were ok (although wreck dive was great). I would rate them higher, but there was a lot of confusion during the week over dive sites and times. They also try to up sell you daily on additional training and extra dives. I didn't mind it the first day, but it became a daily routine. Average:1.Room. I was disappointed with our room(compared to other Sandals stays). We were in the 3000 building on the Riviera side. it was a basic hotel room and the bed and mattress were not up to par with Sandals luxury. Another weird omission was the drying rack on the balcony. All of the other rooms had them but for some reason ours did not. 2. Bar and Restaurant Service. I'll elaborate more later in the review. Poor:1. Airport Arrival-Our flight was delayed out of DFW for 3 hours and we were the last plane in that night. Upon arrival at the Sandal's lounge, it was basically closed. There was a plate with a couple of old snacks on it that looked like it was left over from the day. The beer was all foam and the staff member was basically cleaning and locking everything up. It wasn't the usual welcome that is recieved. I understand our plane was late, but Sandals knows how many guests they have on that flight and could have been more welcoming, especially since we sat on a tarmac for 3 hours in addition to our flight. 2.Check-in: Another disappointment. I knew we wouldn't get music since it was late, but we literally were greeted by nobody! We milled around a little and the shuttle driver started working on the bags. There was 1 bell guy that was responsible for everything. The usual greeting of towels, drinks, and snacks was spread out over about 15-20 minutes. We also had to stand in line motel style at the front desk to wait and check in. This has not been the process that I have experienced before. 3. Departure-We were given different check out information 3 times. 4. Communication-I am a seasoned traveler and a Jamaica veteran. I am fully aware it's vacation and we are on island time. However, the lack of communication and information permeated the entire resort. Dives, Dinners, and Activities were often changed without notice. Staff would often not know information pertaining to events or actvities at the Resort. I usually prepare people that you will have hundreds of interactions with staff over the week and that you have to realize that not everyone has the same personality or manner. This was the first Sandals/Beaches trip where I felt I really encountered some staff who simply wanted to be somewhere else. Not many of them, but it was a first for me. Ok, that's it for my whining, I still had a great time and am looking forward to my next Sandals trip. I felt I needed to be honest as a loyal customer.
