Sandals Ochi Beach Resort

The Sandals Ochi Beach Resort is a huge resort set amongst beautiful gardens in a very relaxed setting. The back section of the resort is where you will find The Ciboney Villa Suites, these are very impressive with private pools, but are a bit farther from the beach. A multi-million dollar renovation in 2015 features a fresh, modern design aesthetic along with seven uniquely new Gourmet Discovery Dining options and a trendy Ochi Beach Club. Like most Sandals resorts, this one is definitely recommended for couples looking for romance and relaxation.
Nestled between the St. Ann Mountains and the Caribbean Sea, Sandals Ochi Beach Resort features three unique vacation experiences in one: the vibrant beach culture of the Caribbean Rivera, the chic Ciboney Villa Suites located in lush tropical gardens; and the heart and pulse of the resort, the Manor House with its fantasy pool all come together to create an unforgettable getaway. From championship golf and a renowned scuba program to world-class dining at 11 restaurants and private strolls along Ocho Rios' longest beach; from luxurious Butler Service suites with 24-hour room service to a full-service Red Lane Spa and unlimited land & water sports, this exquisite sanctuary offers something to tempt every guest.
Location: Beachfront in Ocho Rios. 1 hour and 45 minutes from the airport.
We stayed at Ochi Sandals in the honeymoon sweet facing the ocean. We stayed May 9th to May17th ( 8days ). we were very excited for this trip and was expecting it to be amazing only to discover that for what we spent on this trip was not worth the money. What I mean by that is, we stayed in Dominican republic Punta Cana ( Majestic Elegance ) back in Oct and it was 10 times better then this Sandals resort for half the money. The honeymoon sweep was a plain room, with an out dated bathroom that actually had a bath tub !!! Who uses a bath tub ?? The shower rod was falling off, had no hot water and no water pressure. In DR Majestic Elegance, our room was amazing, with a walk in shower that fits at least 2. Much bigger rooms and much newer furniture. The food was ok in Ochi but not as good as in DR. The bartenders seemed bothered ever time I ordered a drink. In DR we became friends with all the bartenders that went way out of there way to serve you. I have soo much to say about our DR trip to prove that it was so much better then this resort. I could have saved at least half of my money if I only would have went back to DR. The Sandals advertisement is not the experience that we received. Not happy and I said, not worth the money.
Have been to sandals many times. This trip our daughter was getting married at sandals Ochi. And I will say the wedding department took care of everything in the wedding was fantastic. If you're thinking of getting married at a sandals resort I highly recommend it. They take care of everything
This was our 7th visit to Sandals Resort. This time we traveled with our sister, brother-in-law, niece and her husband. Overall we had a good time but there could be some improvements in order better rating.Transfer from the Airport:We opted to take the Mobay package which helps expedite through customs and brings you over to the Sandals lounge a lot quicker. The package is worth it upon the return in the event your flight is delayed and you have an option to have something to eat and drink (which is included in the Mobay package). Everything went smoothly and quickly upon arrival. The ride to the hotel was about 90 minutes plus a 30-45 rest only about 20 minutes after we left the airport. In my opinion, the rest stop should have been later on in the journey and no more than 10-15 minutes.Accommodations:We chose to have the Club Level Concierge service, near the Beach. The first night we found it too noisy from the bar, even though we were on the 5th floor. We were able to get another room the next night. The rooms need to be updated. The furniture is older and the rugs are badly stained. Also, we found the beds not that comfortable compared to the other Sandals that we had stayed in the past.Alex was amazing in making sure our fridge was fully stocked with beer, water, and wine.Restaurants:The resort is divided into two, so if you have reservations at the Hillside, you need to take the HOP. The food overall was OK. Some places were better than others. Some of the members in our party did not care for the sushi that was served at Soy. The Southern Table (Shadeen was excellent!) and La Vista was really good. For lunch, we had mostly pizza at La Bella Napoli. We also tried the Jerk Shack at the Hillside which is highly recommended. Demar at La Vista was always courteous and friendly. The only hiccup we had was at Valentino's in which we had reservations made for 6 of us for my husband's birthday night, but for some reason, whether it was a mis-communication between Concierge service and the restaurant, they had messed up. We went back to the Concierge and complained. It took them time to get it sorted out and we ended up eating dinner an hour later. I understand that these things can happen, and to the Concierge's credit, they did try to rectify it to the best of their ability.SPA:We all took the complimentary massages that came with our package and had it by the ocean. It was awesome! The only thing that was not included is the service tax and the tip, but it is definitely worth it. Entertainment:This is our 7th Sandals, and honestly the entertainment was one of the best. They have definitely set the bar so high, that I am not sure if anyone can come close. Natalie made sure that we were all given special attention. "Super" Shelly has a beautiful voice which is so strong and powerful. She is very talented and it would not surprise me if one day this young lady makes it big. She truly is a beautiful person inside and out and it was one of the major highlights of our trip. Renaldo is another person that we want to give a special shout out. He made us feel right at home from Day 1, got us involved in games but was never pushy. He has so much energy and talent. We saw him working first thing in the morning until late in the evening with the same enthusiasm. Out of the whole group of people that we had met working at Sandals, these individuals really made our trip enjoyable. The Rabbit Hole is at the Hillside, so I would recommend that if you are going to have dinner, do it there and then see the show at 9:00 pm. Overall, whether at the pools at either the Hillside or by the Beach, you will have playmakers around and they do try to make sure everyone is having a good time.Resort:The resort is split into two and is very large so you never feel overcrowded. We prefer the beach, because let's face it...I did not fly all the way to Jamaica to swim in the pool. My husband does like the pool and we found a really nice quiet pool as well which was very relaxing.Snorkeling/ Water activities:We loved snorkeling although we only got out one day because the weather was not that great during the week. It did rain quite heavily and it made it difficult for the boats to go out.
Well I guess you can say anyone's take on this resort is up to the beholder. My husband and I spent 5/13 to 5/20 here. It was a much awaited for vacation about 2 years after it should have happened. We stayed on the beach side and had an oceanfront room with a large window no balcony. We made sure we were at least club level as we did not see a need for a butler and still don't. My review is mixed because without going into detail we had to change rooms twice! The food was okay, but the service by the concierge office was fantastic! The property seems to be worn down but the smiles and helpfulness of the staff saved the day! Special thanks to Kaneesha, Tenille and Horacio! You guys rock!
We visited May 12-19, 2017. Transfer at airport smooth. It's at least a 90 minute drive from airport to resort but they do stop halfway for about a 15 minute break. A must know: this resort is big and spread out; you'll do some walking but the Hops (transfer caddies) are timely. We stayed in Butler Village above the Manor House, we did not utilize the butler service. The furniture in the rooms is a bit dated but you don't go to Jamaica to hang out in your room! Our room was always clean and tidy. Our housekeeper was Jordanna. An amazing, hard-working woman. Her personal touch made our visit quite special.Plenty of great places to eat. The breakfast at the Southern Corner is delicious. When there, if you get a chance, say HI to Jhavel, Serome, and Courtney. Wonderful service and always with a smile. We did have slow service at Soy Sushi but they were packed. Lots and lots of pools. They're not heated but that too is fine. When at the Manor House do get a cabana. Quite reasonably priced. Cabana service was provided to us primarily by Richardo. This young man was amazing. He delivered beverages and food with a smile and a wonderful attitude. Cannot say enough great things about him! Also, Suzane introduced us to the "Jamaican Smile"...we'll never forget that cocktail or her amazing smile. Also, Franklin, a man with a great demeanor will make you some delicious cocktails. Some specifics...Entertainment-wise, there are folks titled "Playmakers"...folks who lead activities, etc. You must go to the Amphitheater and check out the shows...such talent and wonderful productions. When there, check out "Super Shelly". This young lady is a mix of Celine Dion and Beyonce...a powerful and passionate voice. She's destined to be a global superstar someday. Other superstars include Shanet, Gerine, Brittany (a new employee but just a sweetheart), Shevon, Fernando, Akeen, Rajesch and all the rest of the dancers and performers...you won't be disappointed! Nicole at the front desk is a true professional and lovely lady...so kind and helpful. Another must-do event is the Chocolate night. So much chocolate, wonderfully displayed, all accompanied by yet more great entertainment. If you're lucky you'll have the chance to meet Jasmine...a stunningly beautiful woman and just a sweetie. Oh yes, it'd be wise to understand the rainy season in Jamaica. Seems May just might be in that category. It rained from Sunday evening until Wednesday morning. And we mean real rain, up to 3 inches an hour. To the staff's credit they did their best to keep folks entertained...liquid sunshine as they call it. Most important: The staff here is simply amazing! To a person, they were generous, helpful, and kind! We'll definitely be back!
