We love this hotel because the people that work there are friendly, polite, amazing, they make you feel like your home, that you belong. The food is good, the rooms are clean and you are certain to have a oceanview. Its a very good place to relax and enjoy Jamaica, cant wait to see Smiley, Willey, Pebbles, Michael, Oliver and everyone else too. See you all in March 2017 for 3 weeks. Even my family comes with me now.
If you are looking for a relaxing vacation, then this is the place. There are no loud party noises at night and no intoxicated hotel guests. Each room faces the ocean and has a private balcony. It is lovely to fall asleep listening to the sound of the ocean and waking up to it. The food is buffet style and offers a great variety in fresh fruits, salads and vegetables. The main dishes are a selection of true Jamaican cuisine and familiar North American food. My favorite was steamed callaloo, jerk chicken, saltfish coconut rundown and fresh pineapple. Good service makes up for the low quality of drinks. Our room was in the main building on the second floor and it is adequate for a 3* hotel. The hotel was built in 1961 and the entrance of the front lobby and view is spectacular. One does have to take a taxi to go into town. I don't recommend standing on the main street taking a route taxi. Instead have the hotel arrange a driver for you or call Rainford Johnson 876-838-8789.(good driver with a nice van)The view from the property is amazing, but the beach is not what one would expect. The sand is a bit grainy and the beach can not be compared to the beaches in Negril. There are 2 long docks out into the sea and one can swim from there. There also is a nice pool on property. The hotel has beautiful garden walk ways. The beach stretches all the way where the White River flows into the ocean. We much enjoyed our vacation.
Despite the fact that it rained every day during our stay, we had a wonderful time - with the highlights being the fantastic food, a combination of local dishes and family favorites, and the amazing staff members who go out of their way making sure that you have a great time.
This was our second time at this older hotel, but we enjoyed it very much,The staff treated me like gold, due to my bad leg and were very caring and kind.Mr Ramdeen even called me to make sure that I was being taken care of.We tookno phone, we went to get away from the everyday way of our life. The wait staff and cleaning staff were wonderful and Carrie the young woman who works in the spa was fantastic. If you are looking for loud parties, etc. this is probably not the place to be,but I truly enjoyed it, yet I also went with the idea that I had planned to make this a super duper vacation.Merry Christmas to all the staff!
This must have been a great hotel in the early days. But now it just seems old and in a need for big upgrading. The room was dirty, we had no hot water in the shower. The beach was in the shaddow all day. Much of the furniture was old and not good to sit in. But the staff was friendly and tried to make it a good stay.
