I can't thank the staff members enough for making our wedding and stay at the Jewel so special, from the bell boys, cleaners and concierge desk to the entertainers, kitchen/bar staff and upper management. All knew on arrival that we were their for a wedding and we felt special from day one, everyone of our needs were catered for and managed professional by Lissandra the hotel wedding planner. We had last minute requests and alterations (as I'm sure all weddings do) and dispute being busy with numerous other weddings she made sure all was processed successfully. Thank you so much Lissandra for all the help, keep up the great work.Following the day of the wedding we literally must of had every member of staff congratulating us and wishing us luck for the future, a small but appreciated gesture from the staff at the hotel. 14 of us travelled from the UK to the resort. (8 adults & 6 children) I was worried with travelling with so many would all needs be taken care of and I can confirm they definitely were. The hotel has great entertainment staff (Purple, Pretty Boy. Schoolaz, Sparkle, Tinkerbell) all of which worked really hard and took the time to get to know us and the kids personally. The rotation of staff and entertainment is perfect no two nights felt the same. The hotel provides an excellent kids camp for children, not something we used too much for 2 reasons. 1 - We took the kids away to spend time with them not dump them onto someone else and 2 - my youngest is a nightmare and didn't want to go in. Despite that the kids camp staff were very friendly and the night our children did go in they had an absolute blast of a time. There is so much to do in the hotel the children are never left bored, from playing in one of the numerous pools, sea, or water-park there was not a dull moment. Along with football (soccer) volley ball, table tennis, tennis, basketball, archery, laser tag, horse petting actives all at arms reach. The food within the resort was decent, the grill during the day is amazing serving jerk burgers, chicken and chips. The morning, lunch and evening buffet had a wide variety of food. Us being from Jamaican decedents we would have preferred a little more spice added to the food, but with the majority of guests being American/Canadian we can see why the food is left a little more bland (for their taste buds). The onsite restaurants were perfect for evening meals (Jamaican, Italian and Japanese) each with wide varieties to choose from. We ate at the resort 13 out of 14 nights and never got boredWe had no problems within the room and the fridge was restocked daily with soft drinks and alcohol. Overall, if your looking for a great family orientated resort with good food and plenty of activies/entertainment this is the place to go.
I traveled to this resort with my Husband May 27, 2017-June 3, 2017. We expected a long trip from the airport which is was but plan to make the best of it by seeing other properties when you drop off. The bus driver was very understanding about travelers having to use the bathroom along the way so if you need to go just let them know. They know where they all are located in the various lobby's. Upon arrival we were greeted with cool washcloths and a welcome drink. We did have to wait for our room but we had time for lunch while we waited and got to learn the property. It is so easy to navigate compared to the mega resorts we have gone to in the past. We were in the Diamond building on the 5th floor which was very nice and had a great view of the ocean. We were on the back side of the building but it was much quieter there except when the party catamaran was docked at the Riu but that was normally when we were getting ready for dinner so we enjoyed the music. The only issue we had with our room was the safe did not work. It literally fell apart, the whole face fell off. We called maintenance and they fixed it. It did break again so we had it repaired again but then all was well. The maintenance guy was very nice and offered to replace the whole thing but we didn't want to cut into our vacation with that. It worked the rest of our trip. The staff at this hotel is very nice and friendly. The resort is also very clean. The food was all very good. We preferred Moonstone the best. They have great lamb and pasta dishes and we really liked the salad bar there. It is hot and all of the restaurants are open air with the exception of Moonstone and Platinum. Platinum has great air conditioning so this was the only comfortable one as far as temperature. Moonstone-make sure to eat outside, the air conditioning is non existent inside and you will be hotter inside than out. We never had dinner at the buffet but breakfast was fabulous every day. They have national dishes on the breakfast buffet to try. They also had 2 special nights to eat outside which we did both. The beach party which was really fun and the food was really fantastic and the pier dinner which was also very nice. We met some very nice people at this resort which made is extra fun. We never tried room service so I cannot comment on that. Really there was no need for it. They have food available 24/7. The coffee bar is a must! They have fruit infused water all day which is very refreshing. We would treat ourselves every day to an iced coffee with caramel after our beach day. Smoking is regulated to 2 places on the resort due to the new Jamaican smoking law effective in 2013. Shows were entertaining but we only had a nightcap there and saw parts of the shows. Drinks are very good. Check out was flawless but make sure you bill is correct as I was told some people had issues with being overcharged so we decided to take care of check out the night before in case of any issues and we were able to do so and then just drop off our key in the morning. We went to Dunns River Falls and Martha Brae river tours and they were both fantastic. If you do not want to climb the falls, wear your bathing suite anyway since they have stairs you can get into the water while watching your loved ones climb. Take extra money on the Martha Brae for any items you may want to buy along the way or from your pilot. The beach at this resort is beautiful! They were updating places for shade while we were there which I would have recommended they do. You can rent cabanas for the day but they are very expensive so we did not do that. Also I heard the spa is very nice but we did not use the spa. The gym is very nice if you go early since it is open air and it gets way too hot to work out by 9am. We used MoBay VIP which was worth being fast tracked through customs and allows you to have something to eat and drink before boarding your way home. I found shopping to be best at the airport actually. We did buy some local items but anything like T-shirts and especially jewelry like Pandora beads or Alex and Ani get at the airport. Prices are the same everywhere. I would highly recommend this resort for its comfort and location and friendly staff.
My husband and I just got back from the Jewel Dunn's river our stay was from 6/7/17 to 6/14/17 and it was amazing the staff was so kind and helpful, the food was great and the service was excellent, our room was superior!! fantastic ocean view!!! we will be back again for sure I recommend this hotel if you and your love want to relax and totally get away I feel in love with my husband all over again!!!!! Thank you Jewel for making our stay the greatest!!!
His resort was so wonderful! I will return ASAP! Every staff member went beyond our expectations to make our trip special. Our room was beautiful. The entire experience made our 20th Anniversary very special.
My partner and I stayed here for a week from the 9th June as part of our honeymoon. We were really pleased to be greeted with rum punch on arrival! Definitely got us in to the Jamaican way of doing things! We had such an amazing time. All of the food and drinks were good - lots of choice and the staff were so fun. We liked the beach party and opportunity to meet lots of people and socialise. The choice of activities was great as well. It is impossible to come here and not be stress free! The evening entertainments at Bling were also some of the best moments for us, particularly the steel drum band. The Jade Samurai restaurant was amazing. Very entertaining and great food. We also liked the little gesture of a 'happy honeymoon' plate in our room with some lovely chocolate cakes on. Very nice touch. . There was only a couple of things that weren't so good, where we had to ask several for toiletries in our room, because they had ran out and not been replaced and a long wait one morning for breakfast at the Platinum. The buffet at the coral was so good though, we didn't bother with Platinum again. Minor things though and would still highly recommend this place. We would love to return, you have made us love Jamaica!
