The Jewel Dunns River Beach Resort

We had a group of 8 traveling to Jewel Dunn River April 7-14. Upon Arrival we were suppose to be in the Lanai building but as a HH member I asked for a room with a better view. We were given the 6th floor in the Platinum building. We were on the far right of the hotel close to the RIU. We had a fantastic view of the mountains! It was a very quiet room with no issues. (We ended up switching rooms on the 3rd night due to a bee issue they had on the balcony beside ours) We got switched to the 4th floor room 2419. Only issue we had with this room was you could hear the peacock in the morning quite a bit around 5am. Both rooms were very clean and they always restocked our fridge and came to clean the room everyday. Resturants were all fantastic. We ate at all of them except for the Platnium restaurant which just didn't have anything on the menu we were interested in. Italian resturnat was fantastic, and best of all the Japanese restaurant! Book as soon as you get there, that's the only restaurant you have to make reservations for. Pizza spot was fantastic for lunch, we always asked for our pizza extra crispy. Beach was small, so we spent most of our days by the pool. We stayed at the pool near the Diamond building where the water fall was. It had a beautiful view of the beach while at the pool.Tonia who serves drinks and tends to you while at the pool was awesome, she was always spraying us with Rose water if anyone had a sun burn. We had a spa treatment one day, couples massage which was great. Not much entertainment in the evenings, they put on shows and then there is a disco, but not a whole lot of night life at night time, which was fine with us we were with a group of 8, so we took cards, and cards against humanity. Buffet was very accommodating of us being with 8 people and always set up tables for us to sit together. (SOFT ICECREAM MACHINE in the buffet was AWESOME!)Drinks were very strong, so we would normally order 1 virgin and 1 regular drink and mix the two together in a bubba keg. Locals on the right hand side of the beach by the fence, we didn't go through the fence to the other side but many people did. They have vendors that come to the beach daily, they are not pushy at all just selling some cute things. Free kayaking, paddle boarding and non motorized water sports there too.We did the shopping tour one morning it was raining, the prices are pretty much the same as the gift shop in the plaza they take you too, and I didn't find much difference in the prices at the airport when we were leaving either. Weather was 8/10 the whole time we were there. There were a couple afternoons it clouded over, and one morning it rained. It was very windy while we were there so we didn't get the chance to use the paddle boards. If you want to sit somewhere particular at the beach or pool I suggest you go out early and get your seats. If you don't mind where you're sitting there was always lots of spots! No complaints about the hotel, they were very professional and we enjoyed everything we did! One couple we were with had a oceanview room in the platinum building, 2420, exceptional view. Would pay the extra next time for the view!
We were among of a family group of 12 for our wedding staying at the resort. I'll start with the excellent - we loved Junior at the gym who took the pilates and yoga classes at 8am, weather permitting taking place looking over the sea. We also loved the tennis coach Joseph, members of our group attended the beginners and advanced classes in the morning, the coach was also available for knock about and games later in the day. The gym had all you need for a holiday, and some of our group took advantage of that. Most of the staff were really attentive and friendly. The drinks were well made and they didn't scrimp on the alcoholic content. The beach was small but perfectly formed, we all enjoyed the watersports on offer, we kayaked, used the hobie cat, paddle boarded. The drinks service on the beach was good, we never felt crowded and had no problems getting sun loungers both in and out of the shade. We all loved the dinner on the pier. Most of the food was great, especially the jerk chicken and fish dishes. One of our party is vegan and she had no issues and really enjoyed the food. The couples massage we had before our wedding was brilliant. We didn't have any contact with the wedding coordinator until the Saturday before we flew out on the Wednesday, although we had been trying to contact her - I think she was on leave all of January. When we did hear from her it raised a few concerns as some of the options we had chosen were not available, this made it quite stressful, with lots of emails and telephone calls trying to sort it out before we left. With that said the actual wedding ceremony went well with Monique overseeing it and we were pleased in the end.The trip from the airport was quite long, but we knew that from reading other reviews and we were prepared for it.The hotel was ideally situated for mystic mountain and dunns river falls, both of which were good, we also went to the blue hole which was really fun.We really go back anywhere but we would like to come back here.
We loved it. A lot of people said it's small, we found that there were parts we didn't even visit. A beautiful place where anytime of the day, pool or beach you can find a chair!! No 6 am laying towels out here. A true hidden jem of Jamaica!!!
Went to Jewel Dunn's River Resort & Spa for a day and my wife & I enjoyed every minute of it. The Staff was very Friendly and made sure that everyone has a awesome time at Jewel Dunn's. We loved the Pool and the nice water fall view from the pool area. The beach is really Nice & we could stay there forever. The resort is similar to an Hacienda resort & has that true tropical feeling. The drinks and food are pretty good here. We tried the Jerk chicken and the Jerk Pork Wrap here (It's to die for). We also tried the Coconut Macaroons and the Banana Cake ...👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼The best I have ever tasted in my entire life! The resort is very nice, clean and we had no complaints. We loved it so much, that we plan on going back and staying there for a longer period of time. Really Recommend this resort if your an adult who just wants to relax and enjoy your time in Nice Jamaican Resort.
