Each time I visit this hotel I fall in love with it all over again. There is always something new and interesting to experience. This trip was to expose my brother to the hotel that I always speak so fondly of. He was not disappointed in fact the friendly and professional staff made me feel justified. The food was excellent as usual, although I was disappointed in not getting an appointment at the Japanese Restaurant. We nonetheless settled for the Platinum Restaurant. It was simply fabulous and here I must pause to mention our servers Mr. "hilarious" Walvill, "quiet "Rochelle and "Miss Personality" Supervisor Shadika; all professionals. Overall entertainment was great but the second night in the night club topped it. Simply put the trip was great as usual... friendly and professional staff, good food, great entertainment, clean big rooms, beautiful property, management presence...who could ask for more? Strong endorsement....it is a must on my vacation itinerary...see you soon guys! Thanks for a wonderful time.
I think it is important I mentioned a few names of the people that made my weekend so memorable. Winroy, Camara, Lodlo, Annmarie. so warm and personable made me feel right at home.I can't say thanks enough for your hospitality.Certainly will be back.
I traveled to Ocho Rios with 3 of my girlfriends for our annual vacation. We made reservations for 2 double rooms and we received 2 king rooms. The next morning they switched our rooms to 2 doubles. In this room the toilet was running and eventually got clogged, 1 side of the room the outlets didn't work and also the phone didn't work. They fixed the toilet issue but never the phone. Which means anytime we needed the front desk we had to walk there. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The food was good but not what I expected from a Jamaican resort The drinks were weak in my opinion . The wifi hardly worked the 5 days we were there so it was hard to really communicate to the US if you didn't add an international plan. They over charged my debit card for 1 of the excursions. Overall the resort was nice but I wouldn't stay there again.
I will have to say I expected much more for the money. First was the distance from the Air port which was close to 2 hours with all of the stops. Location of the room we did not like. We paid for a ocean view and had to look out over roof tops to see the ocean. We complained and were told that on Friday we would be moved. Didn't happen!!! Should have complained louder but wanted to salvage the balance of my vacation. Only 3 restaurants plus pizza and hut in pool area that prepared chicken and burgers. Menus never changed in any which Got old real quick. If you were only there for a short period of time might be OK but 7 days was far to much.
After the 2 hour plus ride from the airport and the last stop after 5 resort drop offs, the check in process was about an hour. We had requested a top level room when we booked the trip 4 months in advance since it was our 10 year Anniversary, but they gave us the 3rd floor level (Sapphire) with a view of the dance club (bling). Not good! I complained and they told me that we would have to stay there for one night and then we could move the following day at around noon. My sister who booked her trip a month ago even got the 6th floor level of the Sapphire building. The new room was great, however, there were some issues. Electricity went out one day, water pressure taking a shower was a trickle some days and the promised fold down service at night never happened for the first 3 days we were there until I called to remind them. When asked for extra towels, they leave one extra. When asked for extra bottled water, they would forget. They never did anything extra for our Anniversary either. Nothing special! The pools are dirty, cloudy and low of water. The gym is dirty as well and some machines don't even work. The hotel is in definite need of renovations. The service at restaurants was slow for the most part. We were at the Japanese restaurant one night which was our favorite. When we tried to make another reservation they told us we needed to be on the wait list. So, you can't even eat where you want because the reservations fill right up. We even did this two days in advance to eat there our second to last night. The food was good overall, buffet is basic. The drinks were pretty strong and entertainment was fun. The steel drum band was the best. The Spa ladies ask you a ton of times for massages. The locals whistle all day long at the fence for you to buy drugs and I mean all kinds because my husband went over there to find out.The excursions were great that we went on. Dunn's River Falls and the Bob Marley Tour. Most of the people were friendly and nice. If you are a simple person and won't be bothered by all of these things, then it's an okay resort. I have been to many islands and resorts. This resort is not too big and not too small. Would I stay here again? Probably not because of all of these issues. It's definitely not worth the 2 hour plus drive. I am sure you can find a nicer hotel for less and be a lot closer to the airport. We tipped all the time, but we didn't get better service because of it. They definitely cater to returning guests here for sure. Next time, we will be staying somewhere else. We do love Jamaica though! Really beautiful country!
