Playa Suites Acapulco

Our OpinionA suitable resort for young travelers. The resort is near a fairly large beach. There are plenty of buffet items, and the staff are relatively pleasant and attentive. Evenings and weekends tend to get relatively lively. This resort is well suited for those who are wanting to experience lively nightlife. The resort gets extremely busy during spring break.
Location: On the beach, 25 minute drive from the airport and a 15 minute drive to downtown.
It all began with the guard that oversees the cars entrance, in the most rude manner told me to give my car to the parking people after he didn't even bothered to tell me that the valet is mandatory for all cars, there is no shade at all so the cars get all the sun directly all day... After I handed my keys to the valet we went to the front desk where the person that was charging me over 40% the rate that was confirmed by booking.com and he couldn't even knew what to say when I asked him why and even showed him the confirmation e-mail that was provided by booking.com, not counting on the fact that he was going to give me my rooms until 3pm and it was noon, I even asked to let us use the pool for 3 hours and didn't allowed us. So I got tired of dealing with them and took my family right next door to the Crowne Plaza, for the same price I got the 3rd night free of charge and an upgrade, the valet parked my car in the shade and they gave me my rooms right away all with a smile on their faces... Finally when I went up to my Crowne Plaza suite I noticed that the pool at the Playa Suites looks grey and dirty... I don't know about you but I don't enjoy overpaying to be mistreated and bullied... So it's up to you if you decide to stay at the Playa Suites.
I stayed here with my children over Easter weekend for 3 days. Its a lovely location but the hotel is a complete dump, calling the rooms suites and saying they have a kitchenette is a joke! It looks like it was built in the 70s and that is the way it has stayed, nothing seems to have been done since then. There are only 2 lifts/elevators in each building and at a ram packed cant move time like Easter, getting one is laughable! They even have a staff member in the elevator/lift to operate it, not because its a top end luxury resort, I can assure you!We stayed on a room only basis so cant comment on the food or drink etc. The view was fab from the room and the beds were comfy, nice firm mattress which I like.I didn't have much interaction with the staff but my observations of the reception staff were they were completely uninterested in their jobs or the customers.I had 1 problem whilst there when my little girl was sick very late at night all over the bed and the staff made me wait an hour and call 3 times to actually get someone to send up a clean sheet so I could change the bed. In an upsetting stressful situation with a sick child, they treated us very badly.Would I stay there again?? you must be joking! I only stayed there as I had a booking after for 10 days at the place next door and the rates were sky high at Easter so opted for the cheaper choice here for our first 3 days after our long flight.
we had a great time, this was our second time here. the views from our balcony were second to none. very clean hotel, great staff. lots of activities.great food, very safe, basket of fruit and wine waiting in room when we checked in.30 degrees everyday, sun shine, plenty of room on beach and around the pools for relaxing and lounging.we know couples that spend all winter here, they love it.now we know why they stay so long they love it there.thanks to the great staff for showing us a great time.
Have a very good location, near to many places, the attention from the staff was acceptable, no too kind but good, the room was old, not very clean, the refrigerator was dirty, with a very bad smell and was broke, we can't use it, the towels was very old with a lot of patches, also the toilet paper looks and feel like was wet and they put it to dry. The dinner is not too good, and expensive if we compare, they give you the dinner and open bar package but no just the dinner, and the food is not too good.
We didn't pay much but we also did not get much. The pool was in need of repair, dirty and shallow. The pool swim up bar was all apart and falling apart. Was not in use for years. Pictures show totally different. The rooms were decent and we actually moved up facing the water to help our trip. There was no late night coffee or food. The restaurants their only one shut down early and on the weekend we were not allowed in the roped area due to a paid wedding. In the downtown area by the beach. The staff was good! There were people from Mississauga who stay there every year and hoard the front area. So get used to being in the back. They had security to stop the desperate home people from begging to sell anything & everything. The food was the same exactly the same every single day. The drinks were in small cups so you had to get 2 at a time. The internet was good in the lobby. and free. Tv had 1 english station. Will never return.
