Our Opinion
All Ritmo Cancun Resort is located north of Cancun, outside of the hotel zone. This is either going to be a positive or negative depending on how you look at it. If you want be in town for shopping and nightlife, don't stay here. If you are look to just relax under the sun and stay away from the noise and crowds of the hotel zone, but still be close, this hotel might be the one. Good value for your money at this resort.


All Ritmo Cancun Resort & Waterpark is an exciting family resort that, blending exciting activities for adults and fun events for children will provide a little something for everyone. The stretch of pristine white sand is ideal for sunbathing, jogging or practicing your favorite sport. A huge water park features water slides, games and other water rides that offer fun activities for every family member. This resort is an impressive vacation spot for those who enjoy both fun and relaxation, more removed from the hustle and bustle of Cancun.

Location: Located in Punta Sam, a 10 min drive from downtown, 20 min from Cancun's hotel zone, 35 min from the airport.

Go Informed and You'll be Fine!

Our travel group was 5 adults and 4 kids (3, 4, 4, 6). I'll just hit the summary points so that you don't have to read through a year of reviews like I did. :)General Comments:- Ocean View Rooms: Yes the ocean view rooms are more expensive. Stop contemplating this and just do it, they're nicer, larger, with more comfy beds.- Check In: we had to produce the actual paper copy of our reservation. I had the reservation number available and could show him the copy on my phone, but they needed the actual piece of paper. (so I had to email him & he had to print it out. I'm sure you've already read how atrocious the internet is, so sending an email with an attachment took a few hours). We were still allowed to check in and the front desk guy was very gracious, it was just odd and extra time consuming.- Clientele breakdown: is about 25% Canadian/American, 75% Mexican/Colombian/Chilean etc. I have no feelings either way about this, just commenting if you're expecting to see a lot of other english folks.- Staff: were great, helpful & kind. Most spoke English. Cesar the entertainment guy is hilarious! He has some serious dance moves.- Drinks: are NOT premium liquor. There was a sign saying premium liquor could be purchased.- Waterpark: was surprisingly great. Really well maintained, lots of seating, fun for kids 3-13ish.- Safe: We did not use the in room safe ($2USD/day) as we brought a luggage lock and just put valuables in one of our suitcases & locked it for the day.- No elevators, 4 floors high. We were on the 3rd floor. The room doors have an actual key (no key cards), and we only got one per room. (not a problem for my husband and I).- Room door is solid wood and doesn't seal fully. It was windy the whole time we were there, so all night there was a whistling sound. Cracking open the patio door just exasperated it. There is a road on the other side of the door, so it was common to hear road noise in the room. Bring ear plugs if that might bother you.- Timeshare: people in the lobby wearing black pants, tanned shirts & hats are timeshare people. They usually start with "Did you arrive yesterday?". We are not interested in timeshares so we politely told them we weren't interested and were usually left alone. Problem is, there are often 3-5 of them hanging out in the very small lobby. One lady approached us daily, apparently not recognizing us and asking us every day "did you arrive yesterday?". Sometimes I would avoid the lobby to avoid this. (but the lobby is the only place you can get intermittent internet)- Beach: lovely, gets nicer the closer north you go towards the VIP (timeshare) area. No drink service on the beach. Water is great for swimming as the breakers create a little protected cove.- If you are travelling with others, I'd recommend bringing walkie talkies. This is how we kept in touch with our friends as our rooms weren't near each other and internet/texting is out of the question.- Saturday Night Michael Jackson show - really good! And I typically hate resort shows. - Food. Sigh. We were optimistic that we'd be able to find something we'd like at each meal. Evidently all 5 adults in our group are food snobs (Disclaimer: we have all traveled before and are not expecting 100% Canadian style/quality of food). The food displays are gorgeous, there is ice under things that should be kept cold, hot things are kept hot, so no issues there. And I fully understand that catering to the masses is a difficult task. However, although we didn't go hungry, there was generally never anything that we actually liked. We ordered pizza one night just for a break but that was kind of gross too. 2 of the 4 kids were crying at almost each meal, not liking anything. IF you have picky eaters in your family, I'd seriously consider another resort which perhaps caters more to a western crowd. My friend made peanut butter sandwiches every morning at breakfast and that's what her kids would eat throughout the day. In hindsight, she should have packed a large jar of peanut butter & many other snacks in her luggage. Although there are many nice things about this resort, I personally wouldn't return here because I need better internet for work and better food. (bonus, didn't gain any weight this trip!)PS: Obviously has nothing to do with the resort, but my checked luggage was gone through at the airport in Cancun and things were stolen (ear buds, extra charger pack for my cell phone). Such a disappointment and a good reminder to keep all electronics with you onboard!

Great experience

The buffet was good,the restaurant was a perfect 10.staff were the best,I would return just because of the staff,let you feel like family.( special thanks to Fidel,Armando,cande,Cesar,einesto)enjoyed every second.

Vacation with children

If you have children this is the place for you. The breakfast is very good and the food buffet is also. The concierge is very good for planning excursions. The water park is very good. I would highly recommend this with children. If you do not have children go somewhere else.

Christmas 2016 family getaway

My family enjoyed the quietness this hotel offers after a very busy day of sightseeing and lots of day trips to the beach. This resort does have a beach but there aren't any waves and my kids love waves so we spent most of our days at their sister resort the Oasis Grand resort. Vey big waves there.The food and drinks are ok not great. Premium drinks are not included. I can't comment on their kids center as we were always on the move and didn't use. Their waterpark is great for kids under 10 years old.The wait-staff, room service and bartenders were always so nice and attentive. Tips are graciously received.The internet is not included and it's terrible. The accommodation is nothing fancy and the bathroom needs a complete overhaul. I don't even want to discuss the problem with the shower. Let's just say I don't want to have to mop when I'm on vacation and I did many times. When I got sick and tired, Housekeeping was prompt. The hotel management offered to change our room but the room they offered to change us to had the exact same shower so moving was pointless. The one good thing about the accommodation was the well stocked fridge of soda and water every single day.Overall, it's an ok place to stay if you just want to relax and/or you have little ones. There really isn't much to do at this place though.

Good experience!

Everything was good for a family with two kids (7 and 9). The beach area was beautiful, staff was friendly, food was good, waterpark was fun, kids club was great (thank you Mimi. You did an awesome job)! Can't wait to come back next year!
