Top notch resort

My husband & I just returned from a 7 night stay @ Beloved. We chose Beloved because it was adult only & small. We are not huge party resort types. Beloved was excellent!!! From arriving in the driveway to checking out every detail was meet. The girl who checked us in was courteous & helpful (wish I remembered her name). Then we meet Jose who took us on a fast overview tour explained which pools were heated, pointed out the 4 restaurants, then took us to our rooms & went over every detail of our room! The jacuzzi tub patio, bar, how to make coffee etc. He was so helpful & friendly!!! Definitely an asset to the resort!!!! Our room service, breakfast in room, & cleaning person were great. I wish I New our housekeeper name, she/he always left our room stocked & cleaned. All four restaurants where delicious. Lupita was a favorite. Esteban waited on us. We let him pick our meals. He really knew his stuff. Again courteous, friendly & another asset. The beach was beautiful. It looked like a lagoon. The guys that work the beach & around the 3 pools are all great. Oscar took care of us by the pool! He knew what we wanted before we ordered it! The entertainment @ night was good each night. Reggae music , Four Seasons, Oldies night, a fire show, and a silent DJ party. And each night was topped off with Juan @ the bar inside. Again always a smile & the best service! Every time great! We loved our week there & highly recommend it. We will definitely be back.

Exceptional service

My wife and I stayed at The Beloved in April 2017. I was going to write a glowing review as soon as I got home but time got away from me. Now we are booking our next trip. We like going different places every year so we hadn't considered going back to Beloved this year. I am afraid I regret that. Now that I have experienced the exceptional service provided at Beloved, I am afraid that no other resort will compare. We have stayed at several resorts before and received good service. I expect good service. I read the reviews and would think twice about staying at any resort is reported to have poor service. But what I thought was good service at other resorts is just average compared to the service at Beloved. Several times the staff went out of their way to meet my requests. They actually seemed sad if they thought they weren't going to be able to please me and their pride showed when they were about to meet my request. For example, Oskar and Eduardo took very good care of us on the beach. We couldn't have asked for better service. One day my wife ordered a Coca-cola but she fell asleep and the ice had all melted before she woke up. I asked Oskar if he could bring a bottle of Coke (like they have in the mini-fridge in our room) and a bucket of ice. He looked sad as he explained that they did not have bottles at the bar, but he would see what he could do. Soon he returned with a bucket of ice and 3 bottles of Coke and a big smile on his face. He came by periodicly, as if on cue, to open a new bottle when needed. This may not seem like much but I was impressed that he went out of his way to meet our needs. One evening at the Aroma restaurant I was having trouble deciding what to order. Our waiter Christian recommended the salmon dish they had on the menu that evening. I like salmon but it is not my favorite seafood, but Christian talked me into it. It was excelent. After dinner my wife and I were talking about flaming Mexican coffee that we had had at other resorts. I asked Christian if they offered flaming coffee. He got that sad look on his face as he explained that they do not. A few minutes later he returned with the manager who apologized for not being able to fill my order and suggested that they could possibly arrange a special dinner for us that could include flaming coffee. I told him no apology was necessary and I told them both that I was so happy that I had taken Christian's recommendation for dinner as it was the best salmon I had ever had, They were both beaming with pride that they had made me happy. Again, this may not seem like a big deal, but it impressed me as I don't recall having such the staff at other resorts show this much concern for the service they were providing or pride in knowing that had pleased their guests.Migel also went above and beyond for us. I think his title was Guest Service Manager, or some similar title. On the day after we arrived he asked me how I liked our room. We had the ocean-view terrace suite with private plunge pool. The room was awesome. We ended up spending a lot of timne on the terrace which was huge. But I told Migel that while we had an excellent ocean view from the terrace, there was not much of a view from the room. He had that sad look on his face while he apologized that they were booked up or else he woudl find us a room we liked better. The next day it rained and the rain was extremely heavy. Water came in through our sliding door onto the tile floor. We called the front desk and they immediately sispatched a grew to clean it up. Migel then came up to apologize. That certainly wasn't necessary. Tt was not a big deal, the weather was not their fault and they dealt with it promptly. But I called the front desk again later when I discovered that the heavy rain had also caused a leak in the closet and some of my clothes had gotten wet. Migel again came up to apologize, took my clothes to be laundered and offered to move us to another room the next day. We took him up on teh offer eventhough it was not necessary to give us a new room. Later that day he sought us out while we were on the beach to make sure we were OK with the new room. He also was beaming with pride when explained that we were very impressed with the improved view from this room. Migel even comped our beach cabana for the day. I should also mention the hostess at Aroma restaurant, Salma. She greeted me with a smile every morning and made me feel very welcome. My breakfast waiter, Sebastian took very good care of me.Like I said initially, I have been to several resorts with good service. at those resorts I may have had some disappointments, but I have never had the resort staff take my disapointments personally like they did at the beloved. We will definitely return some day. I am now concerned that no other resort will live up to my expectations now that I have been spoiled by the extraordinary service at Beloved.

First Beloved Visit – Excellent Trip

We recently returned from a week at the beautiful Beloved Hotel in Playa Mujeres. This was our first visit here but we are big fans of Excellence Resorts. We have been to all their other resorts. Our trip from the airport was wonderful thanks to Canada Transfers. We arrived and were greeted with cool towels and champagne. We met Miguel the Guest Service Manager – he was very nice and personable and gave us lots of information about the resort. Tania checked us in and was very helpful with any questions we had. Freddie took care of our luggage and was very helpful throughout the trip. Our room wasn’t ready so we visited with Manuel at the lobby bar. We discussed all the different types of tequila. We were in a two-story casita which was absolutely beautiful. I love the location right off the beach. Our favorite restaurants were Lupita and Aroma. Both had extensive menus and all the dishes we tried were very flavorful. We had dinner at both of them twice! Paulo, Jean and Ezekiel were excellent wait staff at Lupita as were Brenda and Fernano at Aroma. Very knowledgeable about the menu and made some great recommendations. The Grill we found to be just OK – not quite the flavors we found at the other restaurants. We did not dine at El Mar because I do not enjoy seafood and there were no other choices on the menu that appealed to me. I will say that the vegetarian menus at the restaurants had some very tasty dishes. For breakfast and lunch, we usually went to the Isla Grill and they had the standard variety of lunch foods. Giovanni was a wonderful waiter and we enjoyed getting to know him. The room service menu is very good and has some choice not available in the restaurants. I think it would be great to rotate some of those choices into the lunch menu. The beach was very nice and never had a problem getting a bed/chairs. The beach concierges, Jared and Jarlin were there to help with any needs. Drink service was consistent throughout our stay and Jesus took very good care of us. Favorite evening place was Lupita Lounge. The entertainment was very good and it is a very laid back atmosphere. A great venue for acoustic performance and smaller groups. It was a nice area to relax and they offer a sushi menu that is very good. Alberto is a very fun waiter at the lounge – enjoyed meeting him.I highly recommend the Spa. We went for a wonderful couples massage and I would have to say it was the best resort spa we have ever been to. Well worth the cost and the hydrotherapy is a great starter.I know they are working on some changes to the resort now that it is adults only. A coffee shop would be a welcome addition as well as a sports bar. I hope they do not do away with Lupita (at least not their menu) because it was wonderful. I look forward to seeing the changes they make.

Second Time Beloved

My wife and I stayed at the Beloved from Dec 11 – 20, 2017. This was our second visit to the property in a year, and we were not disappointed. In fact, I think this stay was better than the first. One of the highlights of our stay was Wellness Week. This was a special week that the hotel was hosting for the first time. Every day there were different activities related to wellness including yoga, fitness, therapeutic rituals, and nutrition workshops. We participated in many of the activities and our favourites were the colour run, stand up paddleboard lessons, and butterfly release. Each evening there was a special gourmet dinner with different cuisines each night. All of them were very good and our favourites were the International Vegetarian dinner and the Indian Native Dinner. Finally, to top things off, every night your received a “wellness box” in your room which contained the program schedule for the next day along hand made chocolates, unique crafts, and a scent card. The staff should be commended on their efforts for this event. Special thanks to Tanya Luna and Leticia Calvo for making this the best week Beloved Playa Mujeres has ever lived! Hopefully this becomes an annual event at the Beloved. As other posters have stated it is the staff at the Beloved that make this place so special. While we cannot mention all of them in this posting, we would like to acknowledge staff that made our stay extra special.Jenny Barraza, the Front Desk Manager, is very prompt in replying to inquiries before you arrive and will try her best to accommodate your room requests or special needs.Miguel Pech, the Guest Services Manager, is fantastic. If you have any needs or concerns during your stay he is the guy to talk to. If it is within his power, he will get it done promptly and with a smile. He is a role model for other Guest Services Managers to learn from. The resort is vey luck to have him.At the beach, Jared and Jarlin are the concierges extraordinaire. Day after day they greet you with a smile and get you set up for the day. They are genuinely concerned for your comfort and well being and will check with you throughout the day to make sure everything is ok. Beach servers Luis, Freddie, Alex, Oscar, and Jesus are all great and will bring you drinks and food throughout the day.Christopher, the Director of Fun, does a terrific job organizing the entertainment activities. Always smiling and full of energy. Cristino, the sushi chef, is the best. We had a great time with him in the kitchen one afternoon where he taught us how to make various sushi rolls. They were delicious!!Thanks to everyone at the Isla Grill for some great lunches and dinners. Elias, Noe, Christian, Suzanna, and numerous others make this a great place to eat.At the end of the night, Pascal and Alberto at the Lupita Lounge took care of us with their special cocktails. Will we be back……most definitely!

Seriously read this review!

So; 1st time writer because i rarely take the time to talk about my travels. But my 2 weeks at the Beloved deserves a review. I want to be brief, honest and thoughtful so here goes...Pros: - casita rooms (if you love beachfront vibe)- staff (ok different personalities mesh with us all but...) overall what a kind group of very hard working people. Special thanks to so many staff: Lorena (housekeeping), Elias and Christian made our dinners so special and Miguel who made sure we had everything we needed no matter what.- food was good a few misses but considering how many meals we had over 2 weeks(and we never ate off the resort). I am amazed people say not enough variety but I have to assume they are particular or limited in some way to what they will eat. We genuinely enjoyed the food - not particularly local but thoughtfully done overall.- beach was small but plenty of room we never felt over crowded even when full & loved the water when not too windy to go in.Cons: -if you want me to pick I could say tamales were tough, looby perfume too much (truly too much|)... but we can always find something. -I chose to recall & enjoy the great drinks, great live bands, yummy snacks on the beach ( gratefully soaking up the rainbow colada's I was becoming known for (eek!) and the fun of wellness week additions (especially meditation in the AM on the beach).Feel free to ask me anything i am now an expert on the ins and outs of the Beloved (2 weeks will do that).Cheers to the entire team and don't forget to bring lots of |US|$ singles for tipping you will be happy to, trust me!
