Our Opinion

A great family-friendly resort. The Crown Paradise Cancun has tons amenities for kids as well as great children's rates. This hotel will take 5 guests in a room. The beach here is nice and they also offer an adults only pool for those who want to get away from the kids. Their a la carte restaurants are wonderful and grilled burgers are a treat at 2am! Probably not 4.5 stars as most rate it, but still a great hotel for families.

Not a pleasant vacation!

We selected this resort due to Costco Travel had it on their site. This was a horrible experience for us. I took my daughter for her 30th birthday and wanted it to be very special and memorable for her. First day we booked an excursion and we were given the wrong time to meet the bus, so we waited at the bus stop for 1 1/2 hrs mind you this is right across the street from a sewage treatment plant. Finally we walked back to the hotel and asked about any comps they might give us due to the fact that we were given the incorrect time, so they comped us a cab fare to see the play we bought tickets for, and the comp was for one way only! There was so much construction going on the hotel just 2 or 3 doors down from us(it's a good thing we didn't have a hangover). Then the power goes out while we were at breakfast so we had to walk 3 flights of stairs to get to our non air conditioned room. Not to mention the food was horrible at the buffet and they charge you a $5.00 charge for room service.Spent a lot of time at the adult pool, however it does not face the water so you get a view of the street and the sewage treatment plant.to make reservations for dinner is a joke, you better know what you feel like eating that night before 11 am or you're out of luck. Not to mention the pink mold growing on the wall!My daughter and I loved Cancun we will go back however will never stay at that place again.

Older resort that is very family friendly and service oriented

Service level is excellent. ALL staff are very accommodating and friendly. Good value for your money. Although resort is primarily geared to families it does have an excellent adults only program that includes a private pool, lounge, room floors, restaurant and section in the buffet area. Distance to off property shopping, nightlife and excursions is reasonable. We took public transportation which runs every 5 minutes and was 10.5 pesos to ride. Wide variety of restaurants. Highly recommend French restaurant. This property is an older property that has been renovated and I would give it strong 3.5 to 4 rating out of 5.

Going home tomorrow

Before we arrived via TA we knew there could be an issue with kids everywhere .We found enough areas to find space to ourselves .The beach being the best .As long as your putting down your markers before 8.30am you can choose your spot .Similar at the adults only pool (see photo ) .However the day we spent there was marred by lads throwing balls and shouting all day .I appreciate we have traveled during spring break .Tips 1. Try book specialty restaurants most nights as the buffet does get busy 2 we re booked the French directly after we had eaten dinner 3. Cabana's are at a premium ,set an alarm early or you will burn to a frazzle 4. Tip the beach waitress well first thing ,she will look for you all day .There are long queues for the bars.5. Take pegs for towels as it's generally windy on the beach .6. We walked on the beach every morning before 9am ,best time of the day ,not too warm .7. Walk left you will see the iguana's on the wall of the Derelict hotel .Keep walking you will come to the public beach .You can watch them surfing etc .To conclude On the Thomas cook search engine low to high this hotel is one of the first .However it has a lot to offer including the most amazing beach and staff .All staff are wonderful .

Wedding in Paradise

Travelled with 31 guests from March 11th to 18th. My wedding was on the 15th. I would highly recommend this resort for weddings. The coordinator Evelyn is amazing and so is the photographer, Adolfo. It was affordable and our private reception, although windy, was perfect. Advice to future brides, if you order the steak for your reception make sure you specify how you would like it prepared. Some received theirs well done and others super rare. A couple people did get a little ill but when travelling with so many people I feel like it is destined to happen. One guest had an allergic reaction late at night and they called in the doctor. They were very pleased with her professionalism. We stayed in the honeymoon suite and it might have to be the largest and most beautiful suite I've ever seen. I didn't want to leave. It's quite a walk to get to the room from the main pool though! We were easily reaching 10000 steps a day from just walking to and from our room and back to the pool. Rooms were always clean and everything was safe in our room. Nothing went missing, but we still kept all valuables in the room safe, which was a good size and worked well. Be careful putting the safe number in when closing the safe. If you press the wrong button you'll change the combination and if you don't know what button you mistakenly pushed you'll have to call maintenance. The restaurants are amazing, buffet ok, wings at the poolside snack bar amazing, sushi just ok. French was the best food we EVER ate! Fantastic gourmet ambiance and presentation. A couple that travelled with us didn't like it though so it all depends on your taste. Wayne's boots was very fun and food was great, fishermans was amazing! Calamari was the best I ever had. The shrimp around the entire resort was always a good choice. The food at the Mexican was great but the service was likely the worst of all the restaurants (might have to do with a group of 45 people that arrived and were the waiter's top priority-we left before dessert)! Adult only bar was fun, but very hot, directly in the sun. There's coverage close to the bar and under cabanas. Tip the servers by the infinity pool and you'll never be without a drink, even if it's super busy. Beach was amazing but very wavy. Was scared to let my 8 year old go past his knees. If you feel like swimming, go to the pool unless you feel like an experienced swimmer. Advice to hotel-the balcony in the honeymoon suite (odd numbers-floor 3,5,7) seem dangerous beside the jacuzzi. Very low banisters. If anyone ever fell they'd die :( Also when you open the room door and the balcony doors are open (in room 2529) it slams the door between the bedroom and living space with incredible force. We had our neighbours upset with the sound of them slamming although it wasn't on purpose. If someone was standing in the way it could easily break your fingers and if a small child was in the way (say a toddler or baby) I think the force could easily kill them. Might help to remove the door or place a door stopper under that door! Would return again and would recommend to future brides! It's not a huge wedding resort therefore their prices are reasonable. 4 weddings in total the entire week and all on separate days. You can request that no one else can get married on the same day as you.

Good choice for families with young kids

Traveled as a family of 4 kids aged 12 and 9, March 2017. Overall we had a fun time at the crown paradise. I am comparing this resort to several other budget and family friendly resorts we have visited in Mexico. Where crown paradise excels:- close to airport- excellent sea view from the balcony in our room - lots of fun activities for young kids, waterslides, zip line, rock climb, games room, evening kids parties, mini golf, and on and on- beautiful beach- rooms with bunk beds available (upgrade charge)- Wayne's boots a la carte had superior food- friendly staff and great service everywhere (we have found this the case at every Mexican resort we've tried)- nightly shows - magic, circus and Michael Jackson were our favourites -free wifi and it worked everywhere except the beach - Fujiyama buffet lunch (sushi and spring rolls)- compact layout, nothing is ever far awayGood/Average:- breakfast and lunch buffet food- Mexican a la carte (loved the Mariachi band at the Mexican but wished they made fresh guacamole)- Italian a la carte- decent clean rooms What could improve:- dinner buffet - limited selection- snack bar food was low quality and no guacamole for the chips (it was only available at the lunch buffet)- elevators, when all are working it's not bad but they break down often- pool area is jam packed with chairs and not enough shadeTips:- tip the staff - they deserve it and you get better service- put a tip and a note requesting what you want inside the mini fridge and you will get it- shade seats around the pool are reserved by 7 am, beach cabana by 8 am. Bring your own towels or t shirt to reserve. If you lose your towel it's $35 charge- don't go here for a quiet adults holiday. There are loads of little kids at this resort.- rooms directly above the lobby bar in tower 1 are noisy at night. Rooms facing the abandoned resort next door or above the kids waterpark are quieter.- zip line and rock climb is only once per day per kid, open from 9 to 11 am only, and kids must wear close toed shoes - good deals on souvenirs can be negotiated with the sellers on the beach- approach everything with a positive attitude and have fun!
