Our Opinion

A great family-friendly resort. The Crown Paradise Cancun has tons amenities for kids as well as great children's rates. This hotel will take 5 guests in a room. The beach here is nice and they also offer an adults only pool for those who want to get away from the kids. Their a la carte restaurants are wonderful and grilled burgers are a treat at 2am! Probably not 4.5 stars as most rate it, but still a great hotel for families.

What a great vacation

Our excursion to Cancun’s Crown Paradise Club from July 9 thru July 15, 2017 was without exception the greatest vacation we have experienced. From waking up to a cup of coffee and breakfast with the extremely hard-working Peter and Clara in the 8th floor bar to the many restaurant service people they all were friendly, helpful and interesting to hold conversation. When Peter and Clara were off there was Carlos David who filled in and did a great job. The room was maintained clean and spotless with Carmen who was also very helpful with the laundry. The champagne and the towel art in the bed room was a very nice touch. The beautiful, fragrant flowers on the dresser were great. The room’s mini bar was restocked daily. All spoke English very well much better than we expected. We are from Louisiana and are critics on food. Our favorite restaurant here was the one with the French motif. The food was well displayed and the sauces were really very good. The hotel activities hosted in part by Alex (Alejeandro) were fun. Many of the activities were catered to the young but he created fun for the adults. We really enjoyed the boat ride. The hotel activities were complemented with AquaWorld on the premises which has plenty water activities and trips. Sophie with AquaWorld was very helpful in finding just the right activities for us. She was very pleasant and always greeted us with a smile. We recommend the sub adventure which was well done crossing the coral reef several times. When the next opportunity exists, we will spend our vacation doing the same thing at the Crown Paradise Club. We had a wonderful time and we thank all those who made it so relaxing and fun.

Good Hotel caters for families with young children or adults. Teenagers will struggle.

Still here so hope the management read this review before we leave. Got a free upgrade, apparently, to a room with a jacuzzi. The bed for our teenage daughter is a single mobile bed instead of the king size double, that would have been in the original room. Yes we have a jacuzzi in the room, but it is crap, the power is really poor, a bit like a bath that recycles the water. When this was raised with the hotel they sent an engineer , twice, who was unable to increase the power. We are still waiting for a resolution to the problem and we are even considering asking to be downgraded to our original room. Top tip do not pay for the jacuzzi. The hotel has a policy of not being able to reserve beds, around the pool. However, the prime spots are taken at 07:00 and not used until 10:00. So the policy isn't enforced therefore they have wasted a sign. Regarding the family friendly hotel rating. If you have kids you can't go to the French Restaurant, the lovely bar on the 8th floor or the trafalgar bar. There is a further Adults only pool on the 1st floor. So your choices are when you want to use a bar is the reception bar and the college bar, which is the other side of the reception bar, with air conditioning. There are that many families the seating is quite limited. There are also lots of weddings which means sections of the pool area being unnecessarily closed off, all day further limiting bed choices. Then the wedding starts at 4pm and the wedding guests begin using the area from around half five when the pool is naturally empty. The food is good and there is a lot of choice however the area for breakfast is too small so you have get there at 07:00 for a civilised meal. There is some good entertainment watching the other guests fighting over beds, when the towel vendor opens.

Great hotel/resort

This hotel may need a little talc but you can excuse this by the great staff, ocean sea rooms, great restaurants and bars. Something for everyone, French Italian, American, Japanese restaurants all in tap. Nightly entertainment, great location etc. I would highly recommend..

Best Hotel in Cancun

My family and I have been coming here for 7 years and seems to improve every time. Activities for all the family, water polo, crazy games, mini golf and even beach volleyball at night!!If you're thinking about coming to Cancun this hotel is a must!

Not what we expected

Clean beach, raked daily in the early morning by staff. Every staff member we interacted with seemed happy. Beware the people in light blue shirts. After you check in and get your room keys they will hound you to tell you about the resort and want you hook you in to returning in the future. Thankfully after the first day they didn't bother us anymore. But they were always present in the lobby. Next door to an abandoned dilapidated resort that was ruined by a hurricane years ago. Only stock you with 2 small bottles of water in your room every afternoon. You can't drink the tap water, so 2 bottles per room is completely inadequate to brush teeth and stay hydrated properly, especially for our family of 5. They also put Heineken beer and Pepsi and 7up in the fridge. All you can eat buffet was disappointing. Kids ate waffles and peanut butter everyday. Ice cream every day at lunch and dinner, but kids jump up on edge of counter to help themselves to scoops by leaning into the cooler. Tons on weird lunchmeat and cheeses at lunch with no bread for sandwich making. Vegetables were always way over cooked. Every evening there was a different theme for dinner. Snack bar by pool has the same hamburger, hot dog, French fry lunch every day. Kids smear mayo into the ketchup and mustard containers, etc ... yuck. Kids liked their chicken nuggets best. "Spa" is a massage table at poolside. No AC. Drinks at the poolside bar and the one in the lobby are very watered down. Every evening at 8:30 they have entertainment in the theater by the check in area of the lobby. Those were fun for winding down in the evening with the kids but people constantly come and go during the performances which is unfortunate and distracting to the audience and the performers. Being in Mexico I thought there would be nacho type ingredients at meal times. On the last day I got creative on my own and found chips (greasy) and found shredded cheese in a different spot, found salsa somewhere else, etc. until I had a plate that resembled nachos. Pool-side paella one day was pretty good as was the pool-side street taco type event. Kids' pool that you can check them into had clean looking water but the surrounding area was filthy with trash and plant debris. Parents don't see this unless they enter with their kids and look around. Pirate ship and slides could use some updating/painting. Zip line pool is totally ripped out. Workers can be seen hauling debris out by carrying it on top of their heads (and new supplies in) by walking along a rickety plywood pathway over a bathroom roof. The pool that is more "indoor" and shaded has a makeshift tarp hung over it with ropes to keep paint from dripping on swimmers as workers paint the pipes up above with paint rollers while hanging from harnesses. Room had AC but a moldy smell to go with it. By the time we left, we had respiratory issues with coughing and fevers and body aches. Shower door didn't shut to keep water in the shower. Don't flush the toilet paper!Sinks in bathroom drain very slowly. I suspect this is because people rinse items there after being at the beach and the drains are just clogging up. There are showers to use as you exit the beach to rinse sand off of you. Short beach walk to playa delfines where the multicolored Cancún sign is located. Short walk along side walk to El Rey ruins. Lots of iguanas here. Cheap admission. Longer but doable walk to Mayan museum. Not as much to see here as I had thought but a good visit with air conditioning for most of it. Can catch the city bus system right next to resort. We used it on two different occasions. Simple to use and buses come every few minutes. Shell shaped pool was our favorite since the rectangle pool always seemed to have an event going on like aerobics or bingo. Pool towels are checked out poolside. Beware no one takes your towel. If you don't turn in as many towel cards at check out as you received at check in then you have to pay for the missing towel.
