The staff at this resort were all so nice and helpful. The food was excellent! I wish we were still there. I would definitely recommend this Resort.

Great family resort with fantastic excurions.

My family, including two girls 6 and 12 years old went for a week to Dreams Playa Mujeres. They have a number of great restaurants to eat including my kid's favorite, the market buffet. They ate nearly every meal there and as picky as they are could always find something they liked to eat. Manuel from VIP services took care of our every need. We ended up going on the Coba Excursion booked through the Amstar rep right at the resort. Everything ran very smoothly with this and we felt we got more than the value for this trip including zip lining, repelling, kayaking, a traditional Myan lunch, swimming in an underground cave, and hiking up the Myan ruin. We also rented a boat for an afternoon, and one of the highlights for my kids was swimming with the dolphins which are on-site (we did this twice). We've had dolphin experiences in Orlando with Discovery Cove and this dolphin experience was much better for the price. The beach is accessible, not very large and we didn't end up spending too much time there, lots of sea weed/grass which grossed the kids out. If you can take a boat to the island which is close by, the beach there is much better. We golfed at the Greg Norman golf course which was fantastic and (free greens fees). The course was in incredible shape and we played after a morning of all rain, the course drained like it hadn't poured all morning. We enjoyed our stay so much we ended up buying into the membership for the resort thanks to our new friend Christian with Unlimited Vacations who gently convinced us that this would be an experience we could enjoy for our lives and our kid's lives. No problem recommending this resort. It is beneficial to upgrade to the preferred suites as you get access to the lazy river and sit down breakfasts at Macris which were very good.

Attended Destination Wedding/Half the people got sick

Attended a friends wedding in August 2017. Beautiful resort and nice facilities but noticed that a large number of guests that had been there a few days before were dealing with GI issues. Figuring I'm health man I ate the appetizers at the wedding on Saturday. My wife visited the bathroom at all 3 airports we were at as well as the airplane! Sucks for her, or so I thought. Monday morning after returning to work ready to go I start to feel weird and proceeded to run to the bathroom. After a quick change of clothes....I kept at it. By 3pm I was feeling nauseous and left work early and am now laying in bed with a 100 degree temperature, throwing up and have the shivers!!!! Would not recommend until they get their food up to code which isn't something I think Mexico even has! Going in town was alright but the local people can be pretty pushy when pushing their crap! Constant feeling of that they are trying to rip you off pretty much has made a Mexico trip one and done! Plus with all the tainted alcohol issues it's really turned off ever returning!

The fantastic staff made our holiday

We travelled to Mexico from the UK, 25 July - 8 August and it was our second visit to Mexico. We travel a lot with our children, but this was the first time they have cried when leaving a resort. This was down to the friends that they made, but mostly down to the fantastic entertainment staff who made the holiday so special. Ricardo and Julio are fantastic and an asset to this hotel. They danced and played with my children morning, noon and night and went out of their way to make sure they were having fun. Ricardo knows the name of every single person around the pool and we have no idea how he does that. Elias was amazing with my daughters, they love him, as was Benjamin, Jose, Ulises. The whole team work so hard, in the heat, all day long, but they are always smiling and taking are of the guests! Well done to you all, you make the hotel what it is. We had a preferred club room and would definitely recommend upgrading. Job and Carlos were really helpful at check in as we weren't allocated the swim out room that we had originally reserved (but this was down to Thomson in the UK). The situation was resolved with Sergio after a few days, who was an amazing help, so thank you for everything Sergio. Christian, the preferred club concierge at the beach is great, and gave us a lot of information about the hotel, the local area and things to do. The fantastic staff continued around the pool with Levi and Bonito who looked after us a lot, as did all of the waiting staff at the activity pool. The rooms are new, therefore modern and pristine, our shower never leaked despite the reports that I have read several times on here. The only downside to the rooms, and it is not major, is that the only mirror is in the bathroom. Its difficult getting ready in the bathroom when 3 other people are using the same bathroom - a mirror in the bedroom for the ladies (and men) would be good.My children used the kids club if their friends were going and had a great time when we could convince them to go, but mostly they were in the pools and on the water slides. The resort is not huge but I was perfectly happy to let my 9 year old walk to the slides herself and felt safe doing so.There is always something going on in the day time here, zumba, aerobics, cooking classes, Spanish lessons, tequila tasting, cocktail making lessons - we did them all and had a great time.I was dreading the food here after reading reports, but we had no issues with it at all. The buffet is small and there is no fresh seafood, but everything we had there was great. The restaurant food was also very good, not amazing, but we weren't expecting that. However, I did feel like the restaurants lacked character and all looked the same, the internal decor for the Mexican is no different to the Mediterranean and they all felt slightly like a cafeteria. We like the Maris, the food is delicious, particularly the mango gazpacho, and it is nice and quiet at breakfast time, where you can go if you are preferred club members. The cabanas by the pool are for preferred club members only, and we were asked our room number and name to use them. However the are all reserved by 6.15am which is crazy, people then turn up at 11am to use them and I never saw belongings removed after 30 minutes, which is the policy we were told the hotel had. There are plenty of beds and towels, but if you want to be at the entertainment pool, all beds were taken by about 9am.My daughters birthday is in August, and as an early birthday treat, they surprised her with champagne and chocolate in her room. When we explained she was turning 9 and didn't need the champagne the staff at the preferred club were devastated. The next day, they decorated a cabana with balloons, banners, birthday cake etc for her, which was totally unnecessary but she was so pleased.Entertainment in the evening finishes early at 10pm and is not ideally situated in the square outside with a make shift stage. A proper outside theatre would be better. I also think the entertainment team are this hotels best asset and they should involve them more in the evening 'on stage' rather than hosting / introducing acts. After 10pm we often went to the Preferred club lounge and had night caps and the kids played games there with their friends. This was nice, I think we would have been back in the room early every night, had we not had this option. This is the first resort we have planned to go back to, a few things could be improved, but the facilities are great, the hotel is beautiful and their staff are exceptional, so thank you!

  • Iggy40 :
Thank God for there entertainment team

Before I give any review I want to extend my Gratitude to a few of the great entertainment team members who if it weren't for them and the attention and care they showed to my family and all the guest at the pools and activities during our stay at the resort our vacation would not have been as memorable.Julio,Ricardo,Elias,Bejamin, these guys went above and beyond to make sure we were having a good time.If your planning to stay at Dreams look for these guys.As far as the Rooms.Rooms are nice and big if you get the top floor the ceilings a very high. As far as service goes the room attendant or housekeeper was excellent. Beds were always done and room was spotless. Bathroom was clean and it was done super quick. I was in the room one time while she cleaned she was like a machine. Evrnice was her name. She was great. All the rooms have a mini fridge and a Nespresso machine which is supposed to be stocked daily. This is a nice little perk but it is not filled by the room attendant its filled by the room service people in which during my stay it was a little lacking had to call multiple times because it fell on deaf ears.Restaurants=being from NY its hard to impress me with food,The waiters were nice and if greased they took good care of you. Food wasn't that great wasn't impressed with the menus, presentations were good but very small portions and quality was lacking, we went into the Buffett for dinner one night there was only two people by the food stations and there was a very basic and limited options. When I asked the hostess she told me it was because they were short staffed due to a wedding at the resort. This is unexceptable. Best restaurants for me were Letouille French restaurant and the Fusion restaurant which is a Hibachi and the chef Jose was amazingly talented and skilled he amused us and cooked a great meal. There is live entertainment which is good but after 10 p.m. there is nothinng to do there is an adult only club but if you have young kids your going to bed early, this was a problem for me because my kids are 8 and 11 and there is nothing for them to do the arcade room is for teens and even if not occupied by anyone they stick to there policy.I walked in with my two kids and the attendant told me it was strictly for teens so I said well there isn't anyone here he said its the rules you can't stay. This put a sour taste in my mouth.Pools were nice, we stayed in the activity pool everyday that is where the entertainment guys are most of the day and they have a cool swim up bar. What a didn't like at all was the beach.I am a beach guy I love the ocean but the ocean at this beach was gross it smelled and there was a lot of seaweed also there is a lot of shrubs and bushes its just not appealing for a resort beach.lastly I want to touch on the dress code which in order to eat in the restaurants men and teens 16 and up must wear long pants and collared shirts. If you do not wear pants you can sit outside at a table but if its hot or raining good luck.I personally had no problem packing pants and obliging but when your on vacation in a tropical setting the last thing you want to do is wear pants.Nice Bermuda shorts with a polo would be just as nice.In Manhattan you can eat in a 5 star Restaurant in shorts and a collard polo but not in a beach resort it doesn't make sense.oh yeah almost forgot perferred status was an option that was never presented to me, and it really doesn't make sense at an ALL INCLUSIVE but apparently all is not included unless you are perferred.
