Highly recommend, great location, beautiful sunsets, calm and beautiful beach, great staff, excellent service....

July 9-18, 2017:I would highly recommend this property if you're looking for: Great location, excellent service, unbelievable beach, calm and beautiful ocean - this side of the Hotel Zone has the calmest and most beautiful beaches, unreal sunsets, great and plentiful food and beverages, entertainment throughout the day and night, walking distance to stores...5 minutes to the market and main party area (convenience and souvenir stores are across the street & 7 minute walk to the party area - Coco Bongo and Clubs), and closer to downtown Cancun should you choose to venture out of the Hotel Zone. This is a small to medium size property located in the Cancun Hotel Zone. It is a 4Star property, but it was the perfect property for a very romantic honeymoon. The rooms are very nice - similarly decorated like the Double Tree Hotels in the United States - marble floors and marble counter tops, nice/plush bedding. Nightly turn down service. Small refrigerator with water, sodas, and beer - no snacks like some of the other all inclusive properties, but you'll never be in search of food as they have 24 hour room service and food available 24 hours a day on the property. No reservations are required for the restaurants, which was a huge plus for us as we ate whenever we were hungry. Dinner service is until 11:00 pm for the restaurants. They have a buffet style restaurant (World Cafe), which changes the nightly theme for the dinners - Italian, International, Asian, etc, but there is always something to eat for every taste (including a kids section). There is a large variety of food selections and overall, the food quality is very good. They also have numerous other restaurants on the property, which are also excellent. The food at these restaurants are a little fancier, so it might not be for children. You can have lunch or dinner on the beach - next to the water if you choose to. We tried all of the restaurants and the food was excellent at all of the restaurants. We were here for 9 nights and we actually got "fooded out," if that makes sense.....we appreciated the barbequed hamburgers, hot dogs, and daily themed lunches by the pool. But, after a while, this was too much for us, so we headed to downtown Cancun for some authentic cuisine (15 minutes by car). We recommend Mi Ranchero in Mercado 28 if you want some great tasting and authentic food. We ate here twice - once for breakfast and once for lunch. Their Cochinita Pibil is excellent and any of their breakfasts are great (around $3.00 US for breakfast). We also ate tacos at a little stand in the Mercado 28 with great Aqua Pina (pineaple water). We highly recommend souvenir shopping in Mercado 28 - it's a flea market that has every souvenir you could possibly want. The prices are about half that of the prices for souvenirs in the Hotel Zone - bargain for everything. The beach at Dreams Sands is truly beautiful - turquoise blue water and CALM...... its 3' deep 100' from shore. Great for romantic wading, cuddling, cooling off, and enjoying the amazing sights. If you have kids, this is a huge plus as they also have floating trampolines in 4' of water that the children at the resort played on for hours. There is also a water volleyball court set up in the ocean. You can also snorkel and see sting rays, turtles (if you're lucky) and plenty of small fish. This is in contrast to the Hotels that face East (Ritz Carlton, Marriott, Westin, Omni, Hard Rock, etc.), These properties have beautiful ocean views too, but the beaches are rougher and not for wading or just cooling off with your drinks) - 5' deep only 10' from shore with waves. You'll also possibly only see sunsets from these properties if you're facing the Lagoon (not the Ocean)I would suggest getting an Ocean Front Room, the higher floors have more unobstructed views. We stayed on the top floor (10th floor). You'll wake up to incredible views in the morning and the Sunsets are incredible in the evenings. You'll definitely want to experience the unreal sunsets - either from your room or on the beach. The 9th and 10th floors do not have balconies. The 8th floor is the Preferred (Time Share floor) and you'll need to be above the 4th floor or you'll have views through the palm trees. They offer free use of kayaks, paddle boards, and offer free catamaran rides. Seadoos are available for rent - $50 for 30 minutes. Parasailing is also available - not sure of the cost, but bargain for everything. They have pool activities throughout the day. There are two pools, but we rarely went in the pools because the beach was so beautiful and calm. They have a swim up bar in the main pool. You'll want to be here on Fridays - they have a Carnivale show around 3:00pm with dancers and a band walking through the pool area. Then, there is a Mayan dance performance, and a Foam party on the beach. So much fun and highly recommend you participate and enjoy the festivities. They also have nightly entertainment/shows at around 8:00pm - Dancers, Music, Mariachi, Tenors, Break dancers, Circus type performances - jugglers, strength, balancing, etc.....you'll definitely want to watch the performances. There is a Dance Club (Desires Lounge) that we highly suggest you check out. DJ music and the DJ will accommodate your music requests....one night there was a group of 20 that liked country music, so the DJ played country music for them. Then, he mixed it up with house music, EDM, reggaeton, salsa, merengue, hip hop, etc.....just ask and he'll play what you want to hear. They also have nightly live performances in the Lobby area - they change the genres nightly to accommodate the variety of guests. If you want lounge chairs with shade (tiki type huts and palm trees provide shade on the beach and umbrellas provide shade at the pool), you'll need to be up around 7:00am to reserve your space if you want the best spots. If you arrive at 8:00am, there will still be spots, but not as many....the shaded spots are usually taken by 9:00am.. However, you'll need to be at your lounge chairs by 9:30am and you can't leave your lounge chairs for over 90 minutes or the hotel staff will remove your belongings for others to use your space. We had our things moved when we went to eat and then, went straight to the Seadoos and into the ocean. When we returned to our lounge chairs others were in our spaces and our items were with the Hotel's Concierge. There are also unlimited drinks and they constantly have wait staff walking around the pools and beach serving as many drinks as you want. Many guests had large insulated cups (3-4 beers fit in them) and the wait staff would fill them up with whatever the guests wanted. They characterize their time share presentations as a VIP service when you first check-in. Its a brief 10-15 minute lead generation session where they try to get you to sign up for the 90 minute time share presentation. They'll start out offering you $200 worth of coupons for the hotel and a small monetary credit for you to use during your stay. If you're interested, then bargain with them. They eventually offered $400 worth of hotel coupons and $300 that we could use for the spa, seadoos, tours, etc. But, we chose not to waste 90 minutes of our day. The $400 worth of coupons wasn't really worth very much as there are restrictions and limitations. The $300 worth of monetary credit was worth more as there weren't any restrictions.

Party of 26 Please!!

This is my 3rd time staying at the Dreams Sands Resort. The first time it was 12 of us. The second time it was 15, and this 3rd time (July 6th - July 13th) it was a party of 26. I already have plans for next year, and looks like it will be a party of 35+. Every relative of ours that has gone once with us, returns and brings more family along! We love the service, the food, the entertainment, and best of all, the beach! We traveled with 4 kids under the ages of 12, and we have no need to worry about them while in the ocean. There is absolutely no waves at all. It is just like a huge gorgeous pool!I would like to thank the following people for their EXCELLENT service.Eleazar & Manuel from the World Cafe - Each morning they made us feel like royalty.Lidia Mendez - World Cafe "cenas" ManagerJorge y Alejandro - World Cafe "cenas" waitersGriselda from Recepcion - She was very sweet and understanding - appreciated our room switch.Karen - Lobby Bar - Always made our nights very pleasant with excellent service.Cesar - Bar Tender - Thanks for all the drinks!!

Nice Hotel

The hotel was very nice and clean, check in and check out was done in about 10 mins max. The beach was amazing loads of deck chairs for everyone. We did have a go at kayaking which was very fun. The drinks were great but the food apart from breakfast was subpar i did initially think it was a tastebuds thing but i did eat outside the hotel and the food was always better. Sometimes the food was too salty and sometimes it just had a weird taste to it. The staff were very kind but compared to other dream hotels I've been to particularly dream palm beach they just didn't compare. The location of the hotel is great as it is very close to the strip and most things are a bus drive away. If you are thinking of leaving the hotel, you may want to get a bus if you know where you are going as it is so much cheaper. The rooms were really nice and spacious and they were always cleaned nicely by the maids, our fridge was always restocked as well. I did enjoy the crepes from coco cafe but i didnt enjoy their frapps as the milk tasted funny. I also enjoyed my omelettes made in the morning from the world cafe. There was also a great range of food at breakfast which was great. We did end up going to see a magic show in the evening which was cool Overall this hotel was nice and clean, breakfast great, beach nice but the food needs some work.

Excellent Service!

Well Dreams.....you would've gotten 5 stars but you can thank your VIP crew for the 4/5. I don't have anything bad to say about the resort other than the "membership team". Upon check-in you are taken to a nearby table where you are offered all of these "resort credits" for sitting through a presentation. They bother you hoping you'll just say yes. Hold strong, don't give in, and just tell them you're not interested. We did just that and were left alone the remainder of the trip. I watched them pull a couple out of line at the World Cafe because they were suppose to talk to them about a package. Rather than let them eat, you pull them out of line? Total Bull****. If someone wants to talk about a timeshare they will inquire about it, christ, at least let them see the property first. You need to get rid of this because it really devalues your resort. We came to check out the resort because we are thinking of having our wedding on the property. Guillermo and Marisol were phenomenal, Rubi was not in the office, but I can only assume she is just as great. I want my guests to arrive and enjoy themselves, not to be pestered with membership services before they even get out of the lobby.Food - greatBars- greatThe bartenders by the pool work their tails off 12 hours a day. Make sure you throw some money their way! The indoor lobby bar has more premium choices. Pool - wicked hot. Ocean/Beach - one of the nicest things I've ever experienced in my lifeIn short, the membership service pestering lowers the prestige of your resort. The service is amazing, you shouldn't make your employees bother your customers.
