Our Opinion

The Flamingo Cancun is a small yet wonderful resort to visit in Cancun. The staff in particular, is amazing. The front team ensure a quick and easy check-in, and the remainder of staff really make an effort to ensure that you're getting the most out of your stay. The beach here is great. It's a good size and the water here is calm enough to swim in. The food here varies depending on where you're eating. The snack bar is a good place to grab some munchies, the buffet however were limited in choices and variety. The a la carte restaurants are worth giving a try, as it offers quality food compared to others. This is place is located in a prime spot close to the hub of city life in Cancun. Definitely a great spot for those wanting to be in the heart of the action.

Filled with bright colours and friendly service, this great resort has a true Mexican atmosphere. Located directly on the beach, guests can enjoy a selection of dining options, pools, non-motorized watersports, supervised children's activities, and much more.
Location: Beachfront, across the street from the 'Flamingo Shopping Centre', only 15 min from downtown Cancun, 25 min from the airport.

Pleasant Place to Relax and Unwind

The hotel may be older, but appears that they have done a lot of upgrades. My room was clean and neat. The staff was excellent and very helpful. The bartenders treated everyone like a special guest. The food in the restaurants was good and tasty. I was very delighted with the accomodations.

Spent two wonderful weeks over Christmas and New Years. The staff from the front desk to the buffet staff to the bell boys where fantastic. Special thanks to Israel Alegria for a great New Years gala, had a great time. Front desk Yury Del Toro, Karen and Isela. Buffet staff/bar staff - Catalina, Amando, Neftalt, Yesenia, Estmella, Alejandra and Paulina Nadal and many, many more. Bell boys where always busy and helpful, a special thank you to Martin.. Resort was always being cleaned, the painter continually making sure everything was white, the window cleaner busy cleaning all the glass, floors being scrubbed continually. Room was very comfortable and cleaned daily. Food was very good, always something to eat. Albatros Restaurant served a excellent Filet Mignon. Reservations required for dinner only, breakfast and lunch also served. Bar staff always friendly and helpful. Pizza restaurant opened the day before we left, had a great pizza. Resort is across the street from Flamingo shopping mall, no need to go anywhere else... Thank you to all the staff for a great vacation.

I was hesitant to book this hotel after reading all of the disappointing reviews. My partner and two best friends decided to proceed anyways but ended up very disappointed. The weather, beach and location were incredible- the staff not so much! The first issue we had was with check in. When I got there the lady flat out said "no you don't have a reservation", luckily I brought the paper work as she was not budging. The next bump was with bartenders. Even though we payed for all inclusive they would not allow us to take more than two drinks per person - since there were four of us, two of us had to go at a time to get drinks. We were told at one point we needed to finish our drinks on our table or we wouldn't be served. Once the bar closed at 12 pm there was no where to get water - the front desk staff told me if I wanted water I would have to wait until the bar opened. The buffet was not the best but the worst part was this lady named Carmen who was there. She took room numbers every single time you walked in the door and was not friendly at all. You had to wait until she gave you the okay to be seated. One day we walked ahead and she raised her voice at us which wasn't too pleasent!Our rooms were nice but there were days where we did not get them cleaned or they were not cleaned until 9PM. The other individuals I traveled with rarely got towels as well - even after asking and chasing the ladies down. The last two things that really upset us came on the last day. We checked out at 11:30 and our bracelets were cut off. We were told we got one ticket for lunch and were no longer allowed drinks (we were actually told by a bell boy "good luck even getting water"). Since we checked out at 7 our only option was to pay for the buffet or to go out. We arrived at 9 PM on the Saturday before and checked out at 1130 am so technically we did not get our full week of all inclusive. One individual in our group was to be picked up at 2:50 to go to the airport. We left the beach at 2:35 and as he went to get changed the bus showed up. When they yelled his name I explained he was in the restroom. The bell boy named Miguel Angel rudely said "well his transport is here" in which I responded that they could wait the 30 more seconds - he gave me a dirty look and walked away. Given that the individuals' bus arrived earlier than expected, the remaining three of us waited in the lobby earlier than needed. When a bus arrived, one of my friends asked Miguel Angel how we are to know which is ours, she asked "will they call our names or?" In which he bluntly said no and walked away with no further answer. When she questioned him again he said if your transport said 7:30 they will be on time. When I tried to explain what happened with our friend's transportation being early he cut me off and repeated himself. Finally, at 7:40 we got tired of waiting indoors so we went outside. Miguel then stormed up to us and said "you need to calm down your bus will be here" in which I interjected saying it was late and we were tired of being indoors. As he walked away he loudly said "impatient people need to relax."I have been travelling for many years to all inclusive resorts and I've never had my bracelet cut off and not provided meals nor have I had staff be so rude. It is truly unfortunate that they do things so backwards because the resort has the potential to thrive but with only a handful of pleasant staff I do not see it doing so.

Much Better Than Expected

We are members of Wyndham who used our points to book this resort through RCI. We were told that the resort was an older resort, but the hotel surpassed our expectations in every way. We were told by RCI that the hotel had two-bedroom suites and we confirmed that this was true by calling the hotel and speaking to someone in English and Spanish; however, when we arrived, we were told that the hotel did NOT have any two-bedroom resorts. But the hotel staff outdid themselves is making our request for accommodations for 5 people. They gave us three (3) separate hotel rooms (one king size bed for one couple, two double beds for two people, and one queen size bed for one person). We were very pleased with this arrangement. The water in the pools was a little cooler than we preferred (It was NOT heated). The Hot Tub was NOT hot. The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating to our every wish. We would highly recommend the Flamingo Cancun Resort to anyone contemplating a vacation in Cancun.

Got less than what we paid for.

Spent two weeks at the Flamingo Resort (Nov. 20 to Dec. 4),we were on a budget, so this looked decent. It was decent, just. Front desk staff bordered on surly...first night we were there, the bathtub drain was blocked and drained into the bathroom and bedroom area. Staff was very surprised by this, but sent Maintenance to fix and Housekeeping to help me clean up. Drain fixed, but then the toilet would not stop running, so we checked that out ourselves. Toilet tank was stuffed full of rags. Called Front Desk, and again they were very surprised, and told me that they have no idea what condition the room is in as the other departments don't communicate with them. Maintenance had to replace the whole toilet on a Sunday night at 9pm....they did the job,but what was less than impressive was that there was not one lo siento from anyone...front desk, housekeeping or maintenance....really, i was just looking for an apology and some empathy for our situation on our first night of a two week stay. Nada. The property itself seemed constantly to be in upgrading motion. I guess they were cleaning up for the busy season, but it would be nice to have it in tip top condition for all guests at all times. Food was extremely mediocre, breakfast being the only edible meal at the buffet. The Albatross restaurant made up for it, though, with excellent ceviche, entertainment and service. Internet service sucked. Beach is lovely. The staff definitely seemed to favour the Mexican guests over foreign guests. Would not go back.
