Our Opinion

The Flamingo Cancun is a small yet wonderful resort to visit in Cancun. The staff in particular, is amazing. The front team ensure a quick and easy check-in, and the remainder of staff really make an effort to ensure that you're getting the most out of your stay. The beach here is great. It's a good size and the water here is calm enough to swim in. The food here varies depending on where you're eating. The snack bar is a good place to grab some munchies, the buffet however were limited in choices and variety. The a la carte restaurants are worth giving a try, as it offers quality food compared to others. This is place is located in a prime spot close to the hub of city life in Cancun. Definitely a great spot for those wanting to be in the heart of the action.

Filled with bright colours and friendly service, this great resort has a true Mexican atmosphere. Located directly on the beach, guests can enjoy a selection of dining options, pools, non-motorized watersports, supervised children's activities, and much more.
Location: Beachfront, across the street from the 'Flamingo Shopping Centre', only 15 min from downtown Cancun, 25 min from the airport.

Very nice vacation

Overall the hotel is nice. We have stayed there before the renovations and have seen some great improvements. We wish they would have a coffee house like most resorts. It does not have to be fancy but at least have one that opens 6am until evening. This resort is not really for couples looking to get away though. It is more of a family type atmosphere for sure. Food was really good and the staff overall is great. Very helpful!! Great location on the strip a big plus, across from the Flamingo Mall. Good trip and especially a good value for your money.

Visited this hotel back in November 2015 in actuality.

It was our first time traveling to Cancun. The beach was just breathtaking. I had never seen that type of ocean waters before. We live in California and our beaches are nowhere near that beautiful light blue color. As far as your eyes could see, you could see the beautiful ocean water. The hotel was literally several steps away to the sand of the ocean. We were there the week of thanksgiving and for thanksgiving day they did a special theme for their visitors from the north. We had the all inclusive package and even the special restaurant reservation was included with it. We had one night that was very great because the restaurant at the time was very fancy; it was fancy for us. An unforgettable trip. All of this is going off top of memory of course.

First rate first experience!

I apologize for the length of this review, but many of these reviews are not reflective of our experience at the Flamingo with all-inclusive option. My husband, son, and son's girlfriend just returned from a week at the Flamingo. My first reaction was not great. Our reservation was not found and the language barrier made fixing it frustrating. We were also immediately approached by a "guest service" representative who turned out to be a sales person for excursions and other services. She was relentless and probably my biggest complaint of the trip. We ended up upgrading to an ocean front room, and if we return, will choose a swim up room, which have been renovated. However, once we got to the room, the trip improved. The room, while older, was clean and in good repair. In fact, the entire resort was spotless. I have never seen so many people cleaning. On Saturday, a large group of employees and their families cleaned the beach thoroughly. The buffet was terrific at breakfast with made-to-order omelets, Mexican foods, and those catering to Americans. For lunch, we mostly ate at the pool side brick oven pizza bar. The dinner buffet was not impressive, but after the second day, we ate at the Albatross, the beach side restaurant. Between the four of us, we had almost everything on the menu. The chicken and steak were delicious. The lime soup was a family favorite and we had it every night. The pools were clean and the towel service a definite plus. Entertainment was available 4 of the nights we were there, but we only watched part of one night because we were so busy doing other things. We were able to see a sea turtle nest, which was amazing! Perhaps the best thing was the interaction with a great staff. Roberto in the restaurant, Kristina in the buffet, and Luis in the lobby bar were especially wonderful. They also were our go-to for questions as we speak very little Spanish. We did not mind the wristbands and saw them on guests from other hotels when sightseeing, so it seems to be common. We also did not have any problems bringing in things. We brought in bags of water every day and even bought a small cooler for long days in the sun. We would definitely return to the Flamingo.

Expensive aging resort

Flamingo is an aging resort with mediocre facilities and services. The building, pools and rooms appear to be of good quality on the surface but once being utilised it is obvious that they are not of the quality expected for the price paid. The rooms are not of the standard that are expected of an expensive resort. The food is very ordinary, in particular the buffet food is totally uninspiring. Fortunately there are a number of restaurants opposite the resort. The requirement to wear tags based on the package selected is embarrassing and restrictions on bringing any food or drinks into the resort is ridiculous.

Nice, clean medium size resort with excellent staff

Stay here for 5 days and found the resort to be clean with excellent staff. Close to everything you need with a shopping center across the street and the front of the hotel is on the main street/bus route.Restaurant choices inside the hotel are limited to an oceanside restaurant (lovely) or the dining room buffet. We ate mostly at the restaurant where reservations are required for dinner. For lunch and breky you just stop in. We had all inclusive so no charge for any of the meals. Towels provided for pool/beach. The ocean was rough during our late March /early april stay due to the winds. I would stay here again for a short visit but there is no night life/entertainment/dancing so that was a downside for us. Otherwise bartenders we very good and mixed drinks to our specific orders.
