Our Opinion

The Flamingo Cancun is a small yet wonderful resort to visit in Cancun. The staff in particular, is amazing. The front team ensure a quick and easy check-in, and the remainder of staff really make an effort to ensure that you're getting the most out of your stay. The beach here is great. It's a good size and the water here is calm enough to swim in. The food here varies depending on where you're eating. The snack bar is a good place to grab some munchies, the buffet however were limited in choices and variety. The a la carte restaurants are worth giving a try, as it offers quality food compared to others. This is place is located in a prime spot close to the hub of city life in Cancun. Definitely a great spot for those wanting to be in the heart of the action.

Filled with bright colours and friendly service, this great resort has a true Mexican atmosphere. Located directly on the beach, guests can enjoy a selection of dining options, pools, non-motorized watersports, supervised children's activities, and much more.
Location: Beachfront, across the street from the 'Flamingo Shopping Centre', only 15 min from downtown Cancun, 25 min from the airport.

Real review as it is

On arrival after a 10 and half hr flight we were seriously tired. Had something to eat and a couple of corona. Then went to bed. Got up next morning realised I had left my e cigarette at the bar. It was returned to me by Misielle the bar staff that night. Following day i misplaced my samsung 7 edge phone and my wallet. My wallet was handed in but no phone. I reported the phone missing to the hotel manager who basically told me to go away and stop bothering him as it was only a phone. 1 month old mmmmmm.Following this we had noticed a musty smell in the room (250). Turns out to be serious mold which was black and when wiped by finger came of with white spors. Once again went to reception to be told they were sending maintenance man round. Turns up with tub of paint the wall. Ha got to be joking. NOT!!!!!!! Eventually they moved me from 250 to 221 which was 3000% better.Good points......Hotel staff never stop cleaning. The bar staff Misielle, Aramis and Amando were excellent staff and will do anything for you. Sevi in the restaurant is a waiter second to none.Average points......the food. Its bland, to salty and 90% of the time cold. Also its seriously repetitive.Even the Albatros restaurant on the beach is the same. I had fillet minion and you could bounce it of all the walls.Bad points....room 250. Reception staff are arrogant and not very helpful unless your Mexican. The hotel manager need crash course in manners and customer service. Dont leave your phone lying around. IT WILL GO MISSING. Iwas even tracking it going around hotel and surrounding area. Got home and its still showing its at the hotel. Taking into account i was there for 11 days and been home a week i will let you work out whos pocket its in Guest or staff. Think on timeline.I would recommend for cleanliness and bar staff but thats about it.I wont ever go back to this hotel under any circumstance. This review is real and not biased in any way.

good price, nice view

The check in process was easy and quick. The staff was friendly. The room was comfortable but the walls are thin. Our room was next to the pool with an ocean view. The pool closes at 10 but the people were staying and lounging around the beds and talking loudly. In the morning you could hear all of the staff moving about. I heard the people in the next room coughing. The view was great and the beach was clean and pretty. The area has a farmacia and small corner store across the street. Also, there is a good restaurant for breakfast and lunch practically next door. Our water pressure in the shower was insanely strong. It would not have worked well for someone with a sunburn. Also, keep the shower curtain on the outside of the tub or the wind from the pressure will make it go crazy like you have a fan on.

Not what we expected..a hotel; not a resort.

We used Hotwire to book our trip and the Flamingo Cancun Resort seemed to be the best value and still have good reviews etc. so we were excited to stay here. Upon arrival and check in; however, we were told that our online reservation was incorrect, and not an all inclusive as expected. We did eat lunch and then were told that we could pay $60 per person, per day to make it all inclusive but decided not to do this after the lunch was barely edible. I was super bummed, as we love to try new and local foods, and foods in general ;-) so this was really disappointing. Upon arrival, we were greeted and treated kindly and friendly by all of the staff we encountered; which, continued throughout the duration of our stay. This resort would earn 5 stars for staff, I will say that! Though, that is where the 5 stars end. Our room was clean and cool, but our bathroom smelled strongly of urine and even after we requested the room be cleaned, the smell never went away...the bathroom didn't have any type of ventilation or exhaust, which made it even more unpleasant: the shower was nice and large though. The room did not have a fridge but did have a free safe which we took advantage of using to lock up passports etc. The pool closed at 6pm, which again bummed us out because we thought it would be nice to lounge there after sundown at the beach. They do offer burgers and hot dogs, by the pool in the afternoon for those doing all inclusive. There are nice lounge chairs on the beach and some do sit under thatch umbrellas. The roofed cabanas; however, you aren't allowed to use unless you are all inclusive- which we found out after being kicked out. The views are simply gorgeous though. White sand beaches and gorgeous crystal clear waters! The Flamingo was a hotel, not a resort. We spent most of our time venturing and exploring, so it wasn't devastating, but we won't stay here again.

Wonderful place to stay....

Fantastic is an under statement. Remarkable hotel resort property, you would never have to leave the property during your stay My rooms #502 and #603 were excellent with views of the beach and sound of the waves. The Albatros restaurant had excellent wine, food and deserts. Plenty of pools to cool off, hammocks hanging, beach lounge chairs. Thank you Yousseff for being an excellent Restaurant Manager, thanks to front desk staff Isella for helping me print my Spirit Pre Boarding pass, and Amando and Adrian are talented beyond your years making those layered shots.

Sea Turtle Rescue Program

Recently stayed at the Flamingo Cancun Resort while on a medical vacation to Cancun. Because my trip centered around a pricey medical procedure I decided to look for less expensive lodging with basic amenities close to areas I already knew from previous vacations. The Flamingo was located right across the street from the dental provider I was working with and has a bus stop right outside the entrance. The hotel itself is small and clean. Staff is friendly and attentive, more speak Spanish than English, but the English speaking employees jump right in when they see you trying to communicate with staff. I was thrilled to find a sea turtle nesting area at our resort. Inspired us to visit the Sea Turtle Sanctuary on Isla Mujeres. Paid extra for the all-inclusive package, which for me was a waste as I was not able to each much, but when the staff saw me not eating, they came right over to see what was wrong. When we explained my situation they were gracious enough to puree some food for me and/or replace my meal with items I could eat... lots of yogurt this trip. This resort also featured a handful of rooms with optional swim-up entries. The downside to this resort is the wi-fi was VERY slow and unreliable and the menu did not change very much from day to day. We had an outer room on the top floor so we were farthest from the office area, wondering if this did not cause the wi-fi issue. And while the food did not vary much over the week, it was fresh and prepared well. There were activities centered around the pool at night and also we were treated one night to a native dance presentation. All in all, we got what we paid for and I would recommend to anyone visiting on a budget, who is not planning on centering their vacation around the resort itself. We noticed "Members Only dining and parking, so assume this is also a local time-share as well. Tho we were never approached to buy it - refreshing!
