Our Opinion

A small yet great hotel. The resort has a very helpful team. The front staff do their best to ensure you have a quick and easy check-in. The rooms are comfortable and well-maintained. Make sure to request a room with a view, as some of the oceanview rooms are spectacular. There are lots of food options to choose from. There's entertainment provided every night, so there will always be plenty of things to do around the resort. Amazing location from the beach, and there is a wide stretch of sand for those who love long walks on the beach. The busy Cancun resort strip is right in front of the resort grounds as well. This is a great location for those wanting to be in the center of the action in Cancun.

7 Day Stay -Beachview Room

The grounds are well kept and smaller than your average resort so it is easy to get around. The staff is polite and hospitable. There are limited options for restaurants however the options are good. Theres a great selection of vegetarian/vegan food. The rooms are equipped with a small fridge and a nice size shower. The downside to the rooms is lack or privacy/walls are thin and you can hear a full conversation of whomever is roomed next door. Your 4g service is pretty good here compared to other places. Wi-Fi is $16 a night but you won't need it. This place is right on the beach, no long walks to get to it. You must try the coffee and the guacamole. I would return again at their other locations.

Great trip!

This was my second time going to GR Solaris. My family and I always have a blast. The staff is LOVELY! Jair Diaz, a breakfast server at the Cafe, makes my mornings with his smile. He is so friendly and a very hard worker. The hotel is very clean and there are a lot of pool activities to keep busy during the day. Although I think there should be a game room and better dessert options since after 5 pm, there is not much to do. The resort is beautiful and I will go back next year!!!

The service crew was excellent, the room was ok, the food was excellent, fresh, many choices and always available. Ocean views and a very relaxing atmosphere. The girls at the "kids club" were the best. They stayed with my children, communicated with us regularly and were very attentive. They were clean, fun and constantly entertained my little boy. Very friendly and always happy. My little boy loved it and had great time. Dani, Kenia Yesy, and Karen were a great representation of professionalism and kindness. I would have enjoyed a better room but I would highly recommend this resort if you have children.

GR Solaris great trip

Traveling with 3 other families including our 6 "children" ages 16-21. The GR Solaris was perfect! Family friendly with a good mix. Small children (but not so many that they are taking the seats at the swim up bar) Some college kids (but not spring break type) and fun older people (who enjoyed the music and entertainment around the pool). The hotel is very clean, rooms are large, food is good, and the staff is AMAZING. We woke up early every morning to put towels on chairs down by the pool before heading to breakfast. The beach is great, I can't say enough about the water in Cancun, but it is almost impossible to swim in the ocean at home ever again. I love the pool where they have activities all day long. Good music, games, contests, bingo, and the swim up bar is great. The beach is nice and close to the pool and plenty of chairs. About 5pm we would go shower for dinner. The evenings we would go see the nightly show or stay in the lobby and participate in karaoke. Each night before bed we would walk outside and watch the sea turtles crawl up on shore and lay eggs. Also, each evening the hotel offers a discount to a different local bar/nightclub. The Friday we were there we went to a nightclub called The City. I'll admit I was nervous after reading some reviews but it turned out to be the best time ever! You pay in advance and get your wristband at the hotel and then they shuttle you over to the club. There was a group of about 20 that signed up to go and staff member ANDREW was our escort that night. Perhaps that's why we had such a great experience. We were in the VIP section right by the exit and restrooms and the bottle service was top notch. No one was ever without a drink. We tipped our waiter very well at the end of the night as he certainly earned it. So I am guessing the negative reviews about many of the clubs are from people not in groups being escorted by staff members. Which brings me to the service at the GR Solaris. Everyone from the front desk, groundskeepers, bartenders, waiters, and entertainment, they are so friendly and always working so hard. The entertainment staff is just incredible. I don't know if they sleep. They are so much fun down at the pool all day and then are working the evening shows. What a talented bunch. Honestly they all seem to go above and beyond but favorites were ANDREW and MARCO so friendly and funny. Oh and I can't forget HAMILTON the bartender at the members-only bar. We were guests of a family who owns time share and allowed to use the members only bar and the bar tender there is a genius. Every single drink he made was perfect. We wanted to bring him home. At an all inclusive many people do not leave tips and it's not required. At no point did anyone ever make me feel like they expected a tip, but I love good service and tipped everyone well. I made sure to bring a lot of small bills and made my kids do the same. Everyone you tip is very appreciative. My family can't wait to go back. The only negative was the tropical storm the last two days of our trip but the entertainment staff was playing cards, ping pong, and doing trivia with families in the lobby always making sure everyone is having fun. Can't say enough good things about the GR Solaris.

GR Solaris-Not GReat

We arrived at the GR Solaris after staying 3 nights in Cozumel. Our arrival was by taxi and we were greeted promptly by the doorman/handler. Our bags were taken and we were sent to the front desk. My first impression was good. The lobby is beautiful and has a lot of marble flooring and the bar area and front desk area have large glass windows and doors overlooking the pool/beach/ocean area. The front desk staff persons were NOT overly friendly. Very curt and to the point. asked for the standard information and practically shooed us away from the desk even though we had questions. We went to the concierge area and asked a few questions and they tried to push the time share on us. We politely said that we were only there 2 nights and did not want to waste our time on a time share presentation. They seemed more than fine with that and left us alone about it. They advised us of the restaurants and snack areas, nightly entertainment and we were on our way to our room. Rooms:Our room was located on the 3rd floor. Lagoon side view. We waited 10 minutes for the elevator to our room the first time up to take our luggage and change. (That should have been our first sign)The rooms are on the smaller side but decorated nicely and have a balcony. Our room had 2 (supposed to be queens) Not hardly.. (Over sized twins) more like it.A table and 2 chairs, a small dresser with a television. The closet had a safe and ample clothes hanging space. The bathroom was small. Shower only. I cannot stress enough the inconvenience if the elevators. We took the stairs several times and I have asthma so it was a real problem in the heat. Pool and beach:The pools are pretty but overcrowded. The main pool with the swim up bar was by far the busiest. All the pools appeared clean with the exception of the area that has a ledge from the upper pool to the lower pool, we saw a lot of moldy areas there. The lower level pool closest to the ocean was lukewarm and felt like bath water. We did not visit the adult only pool. The beach and ocean at this resort is the ONLY reason I would chose this resort to visit again. It is clean, has plenty of chairs and is located centrally. The water is beautiful. The ocean was rough while we were there but still amazing. The beach showers worked great and helped a lot with the baby powder sandFood:The snack bar at the beach has pretty standard snack food and is open throughout the day. Fries, nachos, chicken strips, burgers, fajitas etc.The deli is a good option for you don't want so much fried food or want a healthier option. A variety of sandwiches and cookies. Juices etc.We ate the buffet the first night at dinner and we weren't impressed. It was in the area where the auditorium is located and there were plenty of options but we didn't find it appealing at all. Breakfast is by far the best meal of the day. Lots of options and the Mexican hot chocolate is amazing. The omelet/egg station is worth the line. Spa:Our entire family got a massage. It was a nice break and very relaxing. the facilities are nice and clean, the staff very attentive. Worth the money.Entertainment:The pool staff is fun and play fun music and people are drinking and get involved in the activities. We don't partake much but, we are people watchers so that was good enough. The nightly entertainment was sub par. We went to the Michael Jackson show. It was okay... The dancing was good and obviously the music is classic MJ so you can't miss with that part of the production. Misc.We took a taxi into town to shop. The will call one for you from the luggage area at the entrance. I think it was $15.00 for our family of 4 one way. We ate at Hard Rock for lunch and went back into town to Bubba Gump's for dinner. So we probably didn't get our "All inclusive monies worth" but we got good food at the off site restaurants so it was worth it to us.I would give the experience overall Average to Good. I would probably pick somewhere on the main hotel zone next time just because of the elevator situation. If you have no problems with the stairs, "ok" food and the good beach and pool area outweigh the bad stuff then this may be a resort for you.
