Our Opinion

A small yet great hotel. The resort has a very helpful team. The front staff do their best to ensure you have a quick and easy check-in. The rooms are comfortable and well-maintained. Make sure to request a room with a view, as some of the oceanview rooms are spectacular. There are lots of food options to choose from. There's entertainment provided every night, so there will always be plenty of things to do around the resort. Amazing location from the beach, and there is a wide stretch of sand for those who love long walks on the beach. The busy Cancun resort strip is right in front of the resort grounds as well. This is a great location for those wanting to be in the center of the action in Cancun.

Very nice resort. Would go again

Returned from our family vacation last week. Even though it was over spring break the resort was not over run by crazy teenagers, there was a good mix of families as well. The food is average (I am not going to lie) BUT the resort was clean, well maintained, fun and the staff/shows were great. I'll take that back, the Deli was delicious!!! The Japanese restaurant was very good as well (but get in line for reservations for the following night at about 4:10) they take reservations starting at 4:30, so not too bad a wait. Almost every night the lobby bar had a band, some were bad, lol, but still fun and it gave you something to do. Room: minibar stocked daily, maid service wonderful, very clean , so the beds are a little hard, have a beer before bed, it helps :) To sum it up we would go again.

Entertainment staff is great!

The reason I rate this resort five stars is because of the entertainment staff! I went in a group of 12 friends for spring break and we all appreciate everything they did for us. Jona went with my friends and I to the clubs at night to make sure everything went as planned. He even checked in with us in the mornings to make sure everyone got back safely! Jacky helped us get into The City for DJ Snake and she did an incredible job helping us maneuver through thousands of people trying to get into the same club. Other staff members that helped make our experience great were Dalina, Fernanda, Chris, Lalo, Marco, and Iris! They were a lot of fun during the poolside activities and had great customer service. I would come back to this resort just for them!

Awesome!

Before we booked this trip, we read other reviews to get a feel for the resort. Most were positive; but there were some that complained about the food, service, and keep of the grounds. Well I'd like to say that we had an, "AWESOME" time. There were several places that you could choose to eat, mostly buffet style; but you could find whatever you desired. Some of the negative reviews, complained about the food. If you are looking for a 5 star all-inclusive experience, please send me the name of that resort. But if your looking for good quality food that is fresh, nicely favored, and staff that will get you practically anything you need, book this place ASAP. They have nightly themed activities that guest can take place in or you can choose to book other excursions from several locations on the premises. They also have an adult area to get away from daily planned poolside activities if you choose not to participate. Adult beverages are available all throughout the property, I'd suggest that you bring a large mug for them to fill with your favorite beverage. Their glasses are somewhat small, but all bartenders will happily fill larger mugs. They have two pools and a hot tub that are never over crowded. Reviews that complained about the lack of poolside umbrellas, were in my opinion being ridiculous; they have plenty. The resort has pergolas and umbrellas poolside; as well as on the beach. So I hope this review helps in your decision on possibly choosing this resort, I'd give it a 7 3/4 out of 10. And finally, bring smaller bills or pesos for tipping. The service is above and beyond and tipping is greatly appreciate and depended upon for most of these workers.

The good, the bad, the ugly

Over all I would say there are positives and negatives.. 1. The over all resort is smaller so this makes it easy to get around.. being it is smaller there are not as many places to eat.. 2. The places you have to make reservations at you have to make them the day before.. we where not able to eat there.. you have to be in line at 4:30 to have any shot of getting on the list.. I am on vacation.. why would I want to have to stand in a line at a certain time so I maybe will get a reservation..3.. the food.. not the best I have had not the worst I have had.. the lady cooking the eggs was awesome.. there everyday and so nice4.. drinks where inconsistent.. some I had where great and others I could not get past the first sip.. if you tip the bartender he will use better liquor.5 rooms.. they where clean and nice.. the beds where typical hard as a rock... 6.. WARNING..... pool chairs. The staff started to take pool towels after they seen the chairs unused for longer then 15 min.. many people where upset as they would swim up to the bar to come back to there chair and find everything was gone.. we got up to use the bathroom and came back to missing pool towels after 10 min... had to go plead your case with the front staff.. they lectured us on saving seats.. so don't save your seats unless you plan on sitting in then all the time.. 7. Shows where entertaining.. The staff was generally nice.. we had a few ness then desirable experiences.. Over all it was a 3 due to it was not the best and not the worst.. personally I will not try this resort again..

OK budget vacation spot

We recently stayed at the GR Solaris for 6 days and it was a rollercoaster experience of good and bad.Positives: The entertainment staff seem to really have a passion for their job. We didn't take advantage of the daily poolside activities but you could tell that the staff were putting a real effort in to entertaining the guests. It was impressive. We did get to see a couple of shows and again they really showed that they cared with keeping the guests impressed. Food was pretty good considering it is mostly buffet style. We did not partake in either Zai or Marco Polo because it wasn't worth trying to get a reservation. The main cafeteria served its purpose for breakfast and dinner. We did hit up Rosamarinus for dinner one night which was terrible service and food. We went because the cafeteria was closed and not until later did we find out they were serving a really good dinner up by the showroom...that was a bummer. Plenty of choices overall. The beach was amazing...and the resort must have heard people's complaints about lack of chairs as we saw them hauling out a bunch of new chairs during our stay. We never had an issue finding a chair during our stay no matter time of day...if you want to pick where you sit get there early but otherwise you'll be fine. The resort overall is clean and housekeeping did a good job of stocking the fridge and sprucing up the room everyday. That being said....The Bad:Beds are rock solid hard...not good. When we checked in we were told they couldn't get us a king bed only doubles...pretty lame when you are a married couple on vacation. We were told if we wanted to try and get a king room we would have to pack all our stuff back up the next day before 11am and by 3pm they would tell us if we could get a king...oh and we would have to have all our stuff down by the front desk during the 4 hour wait...pretty pathetic service, not impressed at all, they didn't seem to care one bit about this huge disappointment right off the bat. This hotel is, despite the assurances ahead of time, a spring break resort. I know it's hard to avoid during March but we truly thought this would be good as it's marketed as a family resort. They even have you sign the house rules. That being said there were drunk college kids taking over the Adults Only relaxation area daily including the hottub. For those wanting a break from the lively main pool there really wasn't a place to go. There was also a lot of noise issues late late at night, didn't really see any enforcement of the so called rules. We were told during checkin that they had reservation issues which allowed more spring breakers than usual...take that for what it's worth.A very BIG negative is the fact that the rooms have zero sound barrier between them. You are basically on vacation with your neighbors. Be prepared to hear everything...the rooms have connecting doors in between them and that does not help. Also, if you get stuck on the side facing the neighboring hotel, be prepared to listen to trucks coming and going at random times of the night. Location is good otherwise, buses pick up right outside and it is really close to Playa Delfines and El Rey. It was also easy to get up by all the shops and different restaurants. No issues there at all. Overall this place is just OK. We weren't expecting a 5 Star resort but some of the major issues are fairly easy fixes and we're disappointed that they weren't addressed. Again entertainment=great, guest service=not great. Will come back to Cancun but will probably find a different place to stay, the negatives here really drown out the positives of this resort. Bonus tips, bring your own insulated glass for the mixed drinks, and use the spa, my wife loved her experience there. They won't keep at you about the time-share pitch if you shoot it down right away. They respected us well in that aspect. Don't expect good service from the front desk, they truly were a letdown.
