Our Opinion

Out of all Oasis resorts, this is one that is most fitting with couples and older clientele. Take advantage of upgrading a suite, as the views offered here are breathtaking. This resort also offers endless options when it comes to food. Whether it's the buffet or the a la carte restaurants, the food here has always been promising in taste in quality. The pool area is spacious and you'll never experience a shortage of towels or loungers. One of the things that sets this resort apart from the rest is that it is incredibly inclusive. Regardless of your age or sexual orientation, this resort is probably one to visit if you're a couple.

AMAZING VACATION!!! WHAT A BLAST!!!

We were a group of 8 staying at SENS for one week and we just loved the resort, great environment, great food & drinks. Just like to say that LUIS, GUSTAVO and NEYBI did a hell of a job in the entertainment department, thanks guys. Breakfast was amazing, fresh Jumbo Omelets made fresh by Chef Ignacio. All in all, don't have anything negative to say besides that a 24hr bar would of been icing on the cake.

Hotel ONLY review

Grand Oasis Sens (Hotel Only)I will admit that I was really stressed about coming here as I read the worst reviews beforehand. I will tell you that we honestly experienced more pros than cons, but that the negative reviews regarding this hotel DO have merrit to them. I do not believe that the people who wrote those reviews live miserable lives either, as some other reviews stated, but instead they were frustrated guests who felt let down by their experience. To be honest, I almost cancelled this trip based on those bad reviews and i'm sure others may have too. I really suggest that management take all the reviews posted seriously and not just focus on the good ones, as bad news always spreads faster. I will do the negatives first to get them out of the way.The Main 5 Negatives:1. Long waits for check-in especially during the holiday weekend. Unavailability of upgrades. Lack of guests immersion upon arrival. You're given a map and an outdated activities calender and that's all. 2. Rooms are usually cleaned by housekeeping in the late afternoon/early evening in some cases (by 3pm if you're lucky). This could annoy those who enjoy afternoon sietas if you're trying to sleep while the room is being cleaned.3. Speciality restaurants require reservations and of course, they were nearly impossible to get! We were here for five days and got into only one of them on day four. That really sucked. Management should figure out a better system so all guests can have a semilar experience.4. The rooms could benefit from a good terminal clean, i'm talking wall washing, floor scrubbing, tub polishing, dusting and repaint, as they can be a real nightmare to those with bad allergies. I ended up putting the bed netting up, getting rid of the dusty pillows and bed sham. We also purchased air freshners which helped a bit.5. Wifi could be improved as it is not throughout the building. You are given a really old access card with a scratch off passcode. I'm totally ok paying for wifi, but was annoyed that it did not work all over. This made it hard to stay connected. Nowadays, offering strong wifi throughout the property should be no different than providing guests with towels! Besides those five negatives which in my view were not deal breakers, my boyfriend and I had a great time.Unlike the other negative reviews that complained about the staff, we found them to be friendly, personable and approachable. No one had an attitude with me, nor did they appear to be understaffed. These are hardworking people trying to earn a living with guests who want it all in a short amount of time. Give them a chance! Their dedication and committment are clearly apparent in all they do. Remember, this is a business! During lunch and dinner, the restaurants were all busy, but the staff managed to get everyone in, served and out satisfied and slightly tipsy! The bar tenders were awesome as well, as they were always willing to make you whatever you wanted and help you think of cocktail ideas. The drinks were flowing even for us non-upgraded guests! Go Vist Manuel from the bar in the hotel lobby. He will give you the best drinks with a smile. While working, he was always full of smiles and really made my boyfriend and I feel as if we were valued guests. We walked over to Manuel and usually wobbled away. Lol. However, other parts of the resort did serve some watered down drinks, but hey it's all inclusive! They don't want you drinking them out of house and home. However, Manuel's cocktails were strong and the real deal. The other bar tenders were great as well, including the one on the beach and the two at the swim up bar. All three made fabulous strawberry margaritas! Two/three of Manuel's drinks would give you a buzz, while it may take five/six of the others. But Hey, that's what you're on vacation for, gulp away!We found the resort itself to be huge! Definitely thought it was more than enough with its various dining options that did not require reservations, i.e.sushi, Italian, Mexican, etc. I also loved the pools!!! There were several that were on the deeper side which I loved at 5'10. The resort also offers lots of activities and I love water aerobics. I rushed down to the pool to do it at 12:30 as the schedule said, only to find out they started at noon! From this experience, we just stopped looking at the printed calendar as other events were also listed inaccurately.Renting a smart car onsite, was definitely fun. Unfortubately, our travel agent told us it was free rental for a day or $8.00 included in our package, but that was not the case when we inquired about it. We ended up paying $75.00 for a two day rental with a $200 deductible. We probably could have rented a much larger car for less at the airport or in town.If i were to offer advice to those at home deciding to book or not, I'd say this....*If you are looking for warmth with the most amazing crashing waves ever and you're not expecting the Ritz than this is the resort for you. This is not luxury, but it's nice. I've stayed at Rui before and this is no comparison, but it is lovely in its own way.*If you are a light sleeper and your idea of vacation is to get plenty of sleep, this is not for you as the entertainment outside is loud enough to be in your room. When the outdoor entertainment ends, the strip club music starts at their nightclub called Kinky Boots. *If you leave your room at 8:00 A.M. and would like your room cleaned before noon...this is NOT the hotel for you. This is such a large resort that the housekeepers must first turnover the room of the departed guests to get more in the door. *If eating at every restaurant is your goal because you paid for it AND it is "all inclusive," go elsewhere! This resort is packed and you probably will not eat at the specialty restaurants.*If you don't want to see stains in your bathtub or room furniture, i.e. chairs than this isn't for you. I actually wrote daily notes to our housekeeper regarding what we needed and this worked for us. Remember, the staff can only do but so much. They work their butts off and are constantly repairing things such as the outside showers for the non upgraded clients, etc. but the rooms and walls throughout the building need paint jobs. The bar downstairs has a leeking cieling and poor Manual has to refill a cup that's catching the water. *If you don't want to wait in line for breakfast in a non air conditioned area...this probably is not for you. Either beat the crowd or be quiet and wait. Staff clean empty tables before inviting the next guest in and I appreciated it as who wants to sit at dirty tables. *Topless is optional here so if you are not comfy with your man checking out the view or this makes you uncomgy go elsewhere. This is such a relaxed resort that people let it all out (big guts, dimply butts and all). I was almost inspired to do so as well until my cocktails wore off!!!Overall, we had a blast. We did not mind our rooms being cleaned late, we made the best of the music of what seemed like it went on all night long, we visited the spa three times and had a wonderful time (please see separate review praising the spa crew Emilio, Isabel, Anaveli and Liliana). We are glad we decided to stay here. We did upgrade to the ocean view which we loved and it was cheaper than the $90 nightly upgrade. So what...we didn't get to go to any of the specialty places, kind of a bummer, but it did not ruin our trip. We enjoyed the convenience of the smart car and the entire staff went above and beyond. One employee that really aimed to exceed our expectations was our housekeeper. She was so sweet and friendly. She greeted me in the mornings with a big smile and enthusiasm. She even helped me arrange the room so my allergies would not be out of control. I cannot say enough good things about the Grand Oasis Sens. Yes, some areas are in disrepair, some staff may come off as rude, but this could occur anywhere. My main advice to management is to:Fix the calender for fitness and other activities, so everyone has the correct times. Figure out a way to get guests into the restaurant of their choosing (at least two during their stay) even if this requires a wait list, an expainsion of meals being served in other areas or simply don't allow guests to sign up for no more than two restaurants at a time, so everyone can enjoy the same experiences. Clean the beach, it makes such a difference. The seaweed, last night's trash, etc. just makes it look dirty. Increase the lighting around the pool area at night as it is really dark with so many infinity pools. Thank you for introducing us to Mexico! We'll be back!!

Worst Service Imaginable

My husband and I booked this hotel pretty last minute. We needed a week to relax and an Adults Only resort seemed perfect. Later, we began reading more and more reviews that got us worried that maybe this place wasn't that great. But we figured, it's a 5 star resort in Mexico, how bad could it be?The answer: as bad as it gets.First, the beach was not well maintained. There was seaweed and garbage everywhere. There are locals selling items on the beach constantly, which I'm used to, but for some reason they seemed to really stalk this beach and I was telling the same guy selling shells NO I'm not interested every 10 minutes.Second, the service was awful. The main bar in the lobby only had one bartender, who hated his job and ignored customers for minutes at a time while doing other things. People ended up yelling at him to get his attention. Tipping didn't help. The drinks were hit or miss, with some bartenders having no idea what they are doing. Third, the buffet was disgusting. Never have I seen so many dishes that I just thought "why!?" None of it made sense or went together. Most of it looked inedible. We had no choice but to eat at the buffet because we couldn't get a reservation at the a la carte restaurants without booking 4 days in advance. Unreal. We ended up stalking outside of Schillabar until people didn't show up for their reservations, then we got to eat there. The food there was spectacular, and the service was great. Prepare to wait in line. For everything. Check in took 30 minutes of standing around waiting. Breakfast involved a 30 minute minimum wait time. Every bar was understaffed. WiFi costed us $55 CAD for the week, and we couldn't get reception anywhere. We were miserable. Everywhere we looked, someone was complaining about something. Usually the WiFi.Our room was clean, but very outdated. Tiles were cracked all over and both the sink and bathtub drains were clogged. Other than that, our room was fine. The Kinky nightclub was OK, but there wasn't enough seating to accommodate the majority of the guests. If you didn't get there early, good luck getting a seat. The place also smelt like vomit. On day 2 we got tricked by one of the 50 time share people occupying the lobby into going to the Grand Oasis Cancun resort for a presentation. While we were annoyed once we figured out what had happened, it was a blessing in disguise because we found out we could switch to that resort, which turned out to be 100% better all around. I would highly recommend that resort, where we spent our remaining 5 days. We only had to endure the Sens for 2.5 days thank God.

Sian ka'an or don't bother.

Before I start this review there are a few staff members who I have to personally acknowledge as they made my stay so much better. Gustavo- our maid. He really looked out for us. Our room was always impeccable. The floor and the bathrooms were spotless. He always made sure we had whatever we needed and asked us if we were ok. Lisette: if you are booking sian kaan which I recommend you do. Then she will look after you at the beach club with food. We lucked out that our room was right in front of the sian kaan club so she would bring us drinks right to our balcony. Albert: at the Sakura bar upstairs. Thank you for all those yummy drinks and looking after a big rowdy crowd like us. Esteban: we hung out at the Schilla pool everyday. We wouldn't have to order any drink Esteban would automatically bring them to us with delicious shots. Before the drink was finished he made sure I had another one in my hand ready. Dalia: at the Italian restaurant. What a sweetheart. So polite with amazing service and made us come back there almost every night to eat. We wouldn't sit at a table if she wasn't serving it. Now let's get to the review. The resort is beautiful, the water and the pool is gorgeous. It's clean, there is a quiet area and a louder area for people to enjoy. If you are booking, do yourself a huge favor and book sian kaan(white wristbands) to get better service or you may regret it. We had friends that had black and other colors who had a crappy experience. People are recommending get a higher room, I recommend a lower room for sian kaan. The water pressure doesn't work in some rooms and the hotel is clearly showing its age. If you are in a lower room you are guaranteed to get water. There is clearly not enough staff at the resort but the ones that are here try very hard to please you. Tipping is key. The only thing that really upset me is the gym on the resort. The fitness facility is somewhat from the Stone Age. I gave up after two days and just didn't work out after noticing the state it's in. The machines belong in a museum. Try benazuza it really is an interesting way to eat, also make sure you go to the pirate cruise. The night life has much to desire. The club is a safety hazard built on steps and tables in the way. I'm surprised no one took a tumble down drunk. The lights go out at 11 on the resort to put you to bed but the club is dead. We met a lot of people who came here because temptations was closed. If this resort is looking to pick up customers from temptation then it needs to hire more staff and make the poolside activities and club better. Sian kaan experience was worth the upgrade. You get top shelf liquor and your room service is much better. I never had to wait long to get any issue resolved. Book this resort if you are a couple or lgbtq and are looking for a decently priced hotel that's clean with lots in close proximity.

Nice for that money

It's a good 3,5-star hotel. A bit old but that view!!!!! Amazing view:) Food was good, restaurnts which need reservation were fantastic especially a shilabar (order here the catch of the day). Please do not expect it to be a 5 start hotel, it is not!! It;s a nice hotel for its price. Have to say it was better than I expected.
