Our Opinion

Amazing 5-star resort. The Grand Park Royal has some breathtaking views by the beach and amazing pools. There are plenty of buffet and a la carte options available. While there were some issues regarding the water pressure in some rooms, this did not deter guests from their overall experience of the resort. This resort is suitable for couples or older clientele.

Incredible Getaway

After traveling to Puerto Vallarta last year with a big group of people my boyfriend and I decided to take a trip just the two of us this year, and I am so happy that we landed on this resort when deciding where to go. The beach is wonderful, with a vast amount of room and a great taste of the Caribbean. The area that this resort is in has very shallow waters, so you can play in the waves no problem. The resort itself exceeded our expectations and one day we will definitely be back. There are two different pools, one in the middle of the resort that has a fun and lively staff always playing music or running events for the visitors. The other pool is more to the side and is an infinity pool with the swim up bar. It is much quieter up there and very relaxing, although both pools are great to relax at. There are numerous varying places when it comes to food on the resort, and honestly there is something for everyone. During the day we pigged out on the pizza that they make fresh continuously throughout the day, or we would hit up the snack bar which has burgers, hot dogs, and nachos. These were great places because they are right by the pool and you can bring the food down to the ocean or next to the pool. There is also a cafe in the lobby area which has sandwiches, gelato, and little pastries/treats. We of course frequented this place in the evenings for the oreo gelato. On top of all of this there are three restaurants for dinner that take reservations, a buffet, a seafood restaurant specifically for lunch time, and two fancier bars. The buffet always had good food, and we were always pleased with the endless fresh fruit and dessert treats in the buffet area. They also had a pasta bar and omelette bar made-to-order depending on time of day. Our favorite restaurant of the three evening places was the Oriental place. When you go there I highly recommend that you get the beef skewers, sushi, papaya salad, and/or potato wantons for appetizers options, the glazed duck or grilled salmon for main course options, and the fried banana or the chocolate and ginger tart for dessert options. All of these were my boyfriend and I's favorite food items while at the resort. Also, at the Oriental restaurant make sure to ask for German. He is a phenomenal waiter and was a key piece to the staff at the resort while we were there. He was always joking with us, and we requested him the second and third time that we ate at the Oriental restaurant. Of course ALL of the staff is wonderful and so essential to how fun and enjoyable that the resort is, and we were thankful for everyone that we met during our week stay. We opted to spend a little extra and stay in the Royal Tower Room and that was one of the best decisions that we could have made. Staying in these rooms/suites, your balcony is RIGHT on the beach/ocean and the sound of the waves is incredible in your room at night. We also were able to watch the sunrise from bed, so even if we didn't get up and watch it, we were able to be lazy and enjoy it. Each suite came with a king size bed, Jacuzzi tub, rainfall shower, double sinks, TV, dvd player, lounge area, a huge balcony with tanning chair and small table/chairs combo, an espresso maker, and a mini fridge. We had 24 hour room service included, fully restocked mini fridge each day, and when you stay in this kind of room you get access to a private lounge for breakfast or drinks, and your own personal butler for anything you may need. Jaime was ours and although we did not really require his services while there, he was very friendly and always willing to help when we needed. We did have one issue while there as water started coming out of a ceiling vent that was in our shower room one day, but this I'm very sure was a freak type of thing. A pipe burst in the shower floor above us, and although we were a bit caught off guard by this, we called the desk and the maintenance guys came and figured out the issue immediately. They spoke with both us and the people above us and fixed it right away the next morning as it was later at night when we discovered it. I was very impressed with this quick action and service. Again, I am sure this was just a random occurrence, as things happen sometimes, but this was the only issue of our entire week long trip, so it wasn't really even a problem, especially with how well they handled it for us. There are nightly shows and events at the resort, and we did not want to leave the resort or visit the night clubs nearby, as this was a relaxing trip for us, so we attended the magician, karaoke night, and rock night. The magician was good, although tough to follow if you do not speak spanish, but we loved karaoke night and rock night. The small group of staff members that run the events by the pool and throughout the day for entertainment also run the nightly entertainment events, and they are always full of energy joking around and dancing (they are all incredible at dancing). Honestly, this resort was perfect for groups, couples, honeymooners, families, solo trips, you name it, it would be fitting for it. We were very pleased with our trip and I 10/10 would recommended coming here over other places. The absolute worst part of our entire trip was having to leave and head back to reality.

Not Design for Groups nor Families...

After carefully planning for a group vacation in late September, we decided as a group of 10 to come to Cancun for a 2 weeks holiday vacation. We did our research with regards to the best accommodations and we even call the hotel to check the information and planning. We made a vote and the Grand Park Royal was the final choice. Since my schedule and job dependency was a little nightmare, I was only able to go only 5 days of the 15 days planned but It was still an excellent group plan. From the beginning, It was clear that the hotel needs to define the nature of its business, since they are still linked with the time share structure and they try to push for a sale within the same morning of your arrival which is a little annoying if you are not use to it. But besides that, the welcome to the hotel its pretty decent. The rooms are by far the best thing that the hotel has to offer, with impeccable designs, refresh bathrooms and lovely views. There is a clear investment in the commodities of the room with good maintenance and replenishment but with only one thing to criticize that was the amenities availability. There was no conditioner at all and some of the other classic amenities were limited. The rest was simply great in terms of the room and the Jacuzzi on the balcony was working perfectly. I´m not also a big fan of the all inclusive mentality but you have limited choices in Cancun and a few of my friends were keen on that, There were lots of options to choose from with a special mention to the coffee shop next to the front desk as one of the best. The rest was a selection of a la carte restaurant (that you have to previously booked the day before) and a thematic buffet that change the topic every night. In terms of quality, the food was decent with limited choices on the buffet and okay on the restaurants. The quality of the alcohol and the drinks was pretty good and the snack section was okay, although there were some timings when there were no options available for snacks. The main problem with our stay was clearly in terms of hotel management and big groups. Since we were a group of 8/10 for most of the stay and we had a kid as part of the set up, the main option for breakfast, lunch and dinner was the buffet (since the hotel policy is NO kids on the a la carte restaurant). At the buffet, the maximum table set up was 8 people for the indoor and 6 for the terrace, so we were constantly arguing with the hostess and dinning supervisors about the seating arrangement (a great plan to have in a holiday vacation). After having this discussion a few times, I tried to address the issue with the responsible of the food & beverage area, but Antonio (the manager) was not available during the entire week and I had to discuss this issue with both Victor and Erving, that, even though were very kind and polite, didn't have the authority to address the issue. The rest of the staff was clearly great and were very apologetic about the constant problems, specially the waiters who were very amicable and fun. The front desk was as well not very well trained (except for Claudia) and were constantly avoiding to address problems. The beach was great and there were a lot of activities to do but a little windy to do it most of the times. The resort itself its pretty good but my recommendation would be to book in this hotel if you are a couple travelling alone. You will have a much better time and if you are bored or if you want to try something different, you can easily take a 2 minute bus to the shopping mall area or the city. I was expecting a little more from the hotel, specially from upper management that were unwilling to dialogue with us, and with a little experience in the industry, thats a big NONO for any hotel. Will probably come back to Cancun again soon but to not to the same place probably.

Great hotel and stay

My friend and I took advantage of a last minute deal to escape to Cancun for a quick 4-day/3-night holiday. We arrived early in the morning before our room was available but they were very helpful in getting us checked in to allow us to begin taking advantage of their amenities. After you get pass the request for discussion on their timeshare properties, it's a great place to hang out, relax and enjoy. They were very respectful and didn't push the discussion once you told them you weren't interested. The property is great, we loved the pool bar and access to the beach. The services were great and food was good. We weren't able to take advantage of dinner at the sit down restaurants since we were late to the party but the buffet, breakfasts and the lunches we had there were good. Customer service was really good and I would definitely come back again. We got a room on the 4th floor and had a great view of the sea. You would hear some of the activities that happened at night but all of that would be done by 10:30 if you wanted to turn in early. One of the only issues we had was with our AC. It was freezing and there was no way for us to adjust it so we ended up sleeping with the sliding door open which was fine but for some reason they weren't able to adjust our AC. Thankfully the weather was in the 70s at night. All in all, I would definitely return. Great trip!

Good hotel, food needs improvement.

Room was clean, beach was beautiful, and the pools were nice. We had a small balcony that overlooked the beach -- very nice. Food: My biggest disappointment was the buffet food. Not very good at all. The best restaurant by far was the Oriental. I wouldn't stay here again due to food quality.Drinks: A large reason I book all inclusive hotels is because I drink a lot. Duh. I was pleasantly surprised by the large selection of high-quality alcohol brands. Not like other all inclusives I've been to that only offer well booze. Here are my tips when drinking at an all inclusive: 1) TIP. As soon as you meet a new bartender... TIP. Don't be cheap. You'll get MUCH better service and MUCH better pours. 2) Be specific. If you're unhappy because your drink doesn't have enough booze in it, ask for a double. Ask for a triple. Just ask. 3) This place services tequila shots... ask for Don Julio. Pool: Two pools. One is the main pool which tends to be busier and louder. The other is quieter and offers cabanas... it does get rowdy later in the day as people get drunker. The pool staff was friendly but not overbearing (which was nice). They usually played what I consider good music (dance, hip hop). Music stopped in the mail pool every day at noon or 1 o'clock for water aerobics which was kind of annoying and boring. Bars: The main hotel bar was a dark, practically underground room. Kind of weird. It was often dead because who wants to be in a dark bar on a Mexican vacation? I would have preferred a bright bar in the center of the lobby with high windows, busy atmosphere. The bartenders were extremely friendly and polite. We made sure to tip. Crowds: A lot of families and older people. Not ideal for young couples. On a separate note, I found this place to be pretty gay friendly. The staff knew we were a lesbian couple and I did not feel uncomfortable.

Well worth the family experience

We had a wonderful time. It is the perfect Hotel if you are looking for a huge hotel that has all the commercialization of an all inclusive family experience. I would recommend doing one day at Isle de Moujaes
