Our Opinion

An excellent choice for couples and mature travelers looking for rest and relaxation. The best part about this resort is their team. All facets of the resort is tended by incredibly friendly staff. They work tirelessly and do everything they can to ensure that all of your concerns are being met. The grounds and rooms are always kept in immaculate conditions. There are a variety of dining options (both buffet and a la carte) available. The menu changes quite often, so you're never left eating the same food twice. The resort is near a beautiful beach and has a great pool deck. Both are relatively big nad have plenty of loungers availble. You won't ever have to fight for a spot here!

A RELAXING STAY

My travel buddy and I had a wonderful stay at Zilara. As we arrived at different times, Liam Dodd and his team were there waiting for both of us at CUN. A lovely clean vehicle with cold drinks, gratis. We booked through a member so we checked in at member services. Raoul couldn't have been more accomodating as we made our necessary dining reservations and stated our preferences. We were in an oceanfront junior suite on the 4th floor. Never heard any noise from the lobby or elsewhere. Our suite was as expected. I requested a bottle of Beefeater and a bottle of Malibu...which were delivered as requested. Maybe after a little arm-twisting....lolAs food is very subjective I will not comment on our dining experiences. Other than to say we DID take a cab to the french restaurant at Hyatt Ziva. Well worth it, in my opinion.I was concerned about 'interlopers' at the hotel, since they no longer use wristbands. No need to worry....security is tight. We enjoyed the wonderful cocktail service poolside every day! And in the evenings as we sat outside the lobby bar in the smoking section. Lots of room for improvement here....only a concrete bench and a couple of lounge chairs. There is also another smoking area outside of the 24 hour room with comfy chairs and nice cocktail tables. But neither of these is under cover. No idea where we'd go if it rained. We parasailed right off the beach. It was exhilarating.Loved the fact that the vendors do not come up to you on the beach unless YOU approach them. We were just in Puerta Vallarta and Cabo and the vendor harrassment was unbearable. We didn't participate in the 'towel game' as we found a lovely spot down by the swim-up suites....away from the continuous loud music that plays on a loupe all day long...every day....the same tunes. Gets annoying. Lots of room for improvement there. The pool butlers are wonderful. Enjoyed the frozen grapes and other tidbits. The 24 hour room was nice to get a nibble, as in cheese and crackers etc.Room service breakfast was grand. Loved using the magic box. We'd just put our tip in there and all was well. Always very timely.People I would like to recognize that went above and beyond:Jose Francisco, our housekeeper. An awesome job daily.Guadeloupe in the lobby bar. So friendly and sweet.Luis, the host at Pelicano. A gem.Frankie Boy, Daniel, Eloisa and Jose (not to be confused with hose B, lol) were the best poolside servers I've ever seen.Bring lots of singles....we tipped $1 for EVERY drink. Needless to say, our service was never lacking. All in all, I would go back to this hotel.

second visit

We have been to Cancun many times and this was our second visit to this hotel. Many things have changed yet a lot remain the same. The hotel is starting to show it's age as we saw repairs going on. the rooms are very comfortable but noisy. almost every day and night we heard doors slamming and people from above us. We upgraded to a suite on the south side of the hotel. The only reason we did this was because it came with a reserved cabana. Definitely not worth it. The beach service is slow and they will not allow food on the pool deck or beach. If you get up early there were plenty of free ones around the pool. The service was great! A special thanks to Arturo at the buffet. The food at the restaurants was very good. We felt it was much better this time so kudos to the many chefs. Please remember Tips are not necessary but the staff works so hard so reward them. lastly, I would like to thank all the people who made our stay comfortable.

Great hotel but do not buy real club membership

The hotel is beautiful however the first day after checking in I was brought to someone who was "showing me the hotel" he later offered me 1000 pesos toward a massage if I listen to a 90 min presentation. We went and thought is was a great deal , we would be able to vacation cheap and even go to bora bora for 240 a week of booked at most 4 months in advance . Please read reviews on real club and you will see all negative reviews. What angered me was that I was told I had 5 days to cancel . The next day after signing on we divided after reading reviews that it was a scam and wanted to cancel. They gave us the run around . That the person to cancel with was not coming in today the they saod he wouldn't be back until later and then 10 min later someone came and told us we would have to pay 20 percent of ten thousand dollars to cancel. We read the contract and knew that if we didn't use and of there gifts that we wouldn't be obligated to pay anything . When I asked the man about 5 day cancelation he said yes and would u like to go on a yacht tomorrow on us ... of course we said sure we would go ! But if we had gone that day the 5 day cancellation would have been void . They ruined 2 days of my vacation. I cried the whole night and felt so taken advantage of and we left Hyatt zilara early . We were celebrating our engagement and it was ruined . I can't believe Hyatt allows this to go on in there hotel. Please read reviews on real club before purchasing . I just hope we get out money back as they eventually agreed to do . The one thing that bothers me more than anything is when people take advantage of good people. My fiancé and I didn't deserve this. Please learn from our mistakes . I would give this hotel excellent ratings if this company didn't ruin my first 2 nights . It's small and quite romantic . Great for couples who don't want to party more of just relaxing and enjoying beautiful Mexico with your love ... just be ware of sharks ( real club) trying to scam you

Heaven on Earth!

I did a lot of research before our recent trip to Cancun, and booked Hyatt Zilara due to its all inclusive, adults-only, quiet and well-rated reputation. The vacation exceeded my expectations. The staff was consistently pleasant, efficient, and personable - we interacted with many different people, and they were always great at their jobs, nice and generous. The property itself is quite beautiful - the layout is easy to understand, we had a large, airy room on the 8th floor with a beautiful view of the ocean, and during our week we felt like we nearly had the run of the place - it wasn't deserted, but it never felt the least bit crowded, and we never had to wait for anything. The food and bar service was consistently excellent - I'd rate it as 'Better than it needed to be' since the all-inclusive status meant that I was expecting it to be serviceable. All of the restaurants - from the breakfast buffet as Spice, to the gorgeous dinners at Maria Marie, the teppan table at Asiana (get the lobster!) and the very special Chef's Table - were delicious, generous and well staffed. We especially loved the Café Maya flaming drink routine at Maria Marie. The pool and beach areas were always clean, well serviced and great places to hang out - that's what we did for most of our stay. It was no trouble at all to get a cabana or shelter at either beach or pool. There was a bit of confusion before we got there over whether we could use the beach cabanas, but there were enough chairs and shelters on the beach to go around every day. The ocean was a bit too choppy for easy swimming, but the lifeguards made us feel safe even when dodging the waves. Was our stay perfect? Nearly so. I understand the need for renovations, but there was construction going on near our room, and the hammering could get a bit distracting at times. They didn't start early or go late, though. There could have been a bit more clarification on the smoking policy - our room was non-smoking, but others smoking on their balcony meant that we did get some smoke smell at times. The entertainment was decent enough in the lobby, but we preferred the more traditional Mexican live music at Maria Marie. I feel like there could be more clarification on the wine program - we wound up buying a bottle of wine at dinner most nights, because we weren't sure what wines we could get by the glass. Small details, though, and it didn't really impact our enjoyment.Overall I feel like we got an excellent vacation from the Hyatt Zilara, and a good value for our money. We didn't leave the property the entire time - we simply didn't feel like we needed anything else!

Pretty good first time experience

I would have rated the food and beverage higher but I had food poisoning on the first night I was at the hotel. I know it was due to the food because it was gone within a day. I had eaten at Spice and had dessert at Pelicanos. After that the rest of the stay went well but that tainted the whole experience.
