Our Opinion

An excellent choice for couples and mature travelers looking for rest and relaxation. The best part about this resort is their team. All facets of the resort is tended by incredibly friendly staff. They work tirelessly and do everything they can to ensure that all of your concerns are being met. The grounds and rooms are always kept in immaculate conditions. There are a variety of dining options (both buffet and a la carte) available. The menu changes quite often, so you're never left eating the same food twice. The resort is near a beautiful beach and has a great pool deck. Both are relatively big nad have plenty of loungers availble. You won't ever have to fight for a spot here!

Great For a Relaxing Getaway

We are frequent visitors to Cancun but this was our first adults only resort. Overall, the Hyatt Zilara is amazing. The only thing that we were a little disappointed with was the entertainment. Most All-Inclusives have an entertainment staff and have some kind of activity happening most of the day and that is not really the case at the Zilara. This version of adults only is quiet and relaxing and more oriented toward "older" people as opposed to the wild and crazy, kids shouldn't be around this kind of stuff version of adults only. So ultimately, if you're wanting to get a little wild, you will have to leave the resort and hit some of the clubs, which are not too far away. The room was beautiful with an in room jacuzzi, though it's a little awkwardly situated. There are built in seats for 2 in the jacuzzi but they face the wall as opposed to the window or even the tv so it was a little hard to really just relax feeling like I was in time out or something. The shower is large with 2 separate options, a standard shower head as well as a separate rain shower head complete with body jets which was awesome. I'm kind of a stickler for good towels in hotels and these ones did not disappoint. I'm 5'11" and hate stepping out of a shower to a towel that is suited for no one larger than a 5 year old. The balcony is on the small side and each is equipped with a hammock. We never used the hammock but noticed on other rooms, if the hammock was in use, there would not be room for anyone else to be comfortably sitting on the balcony. The room had the standard minibar complete with liquor dispenser which is cool if you like the standards or are into sitting in your room drinking. Our room was on the 4th floor with the hall side overlooking the lobby. I know some people complain about the evening noise from the shows and the band but we didn't notice it and one night the entertainment was a duo singing Christmas songs and it was beautiful and we enjoyed standing in the hall watching from above. In my experience, the service in Cancun has always been top notch and that was consistent at the Zilara. The food here, quality wise, was by far the best I've ever had at an all-inclusive. (I think I said that about the Fiesta Americana Condessa as well if you happen to read my review there, but that was before I came to the Zilara) Everything was amazing and I even enjoyed the grouper empanadas during lunch at Pelicanos, which is pretty amazing because I don't eat fish. Try the cooking show at Asiana!!! At least once, not only is the food amazing but it was so much fun. The Cantina was closed while we were there so I can't comment on that. The Coffee House is a great spot for a quick bite, make a mini sandwich, quesadillas, coffee, tea, ice cream, pastries, salads, etc. We also ate at Spice, Maria Marie, and ordered room service. We did wish that there would have been a food option available poolside as all of the dining options (besides room service) require you have more than a bathing suit on. The shows were really awesome though a little awkward to watch. They do them in the center of the lobby area near the bar but they face toward the entrance of the hotel where there is little seating so to sit and watch, you have to watch from the side or from the back and when you're in the back at the bar, the spotlights are shining in your face so you can't see well. The beach here is great for playing in the ocean and there is a bar on the beach. The location is great, close enough to the city center area, the marina, shopping malls, and not too far from the El Rey ruins. If it's too far to walk, you can get anywhere on the bus for $1/person, if you don't have pesos, and the buses have frequent stops all along the hotel zone as well as into town away from the beach.

Staff beyond my expectations and beautifully appointed room

The resort and staff are friendly and truly want to give you gracious service. It's not your regular Cancun resort, but rather a warmer and more upscale travel experience. Be prepared to get up and out early, as the lounge chairs are very limited and there are early risers that stake their best position prior to the sunrise. The cabana beds are exceptionally comfortable and there are plenty more than the chaise lounges-but you still have to reserve one early or the beach is your only option.Be prepared for limited opportunities for ocean swimming as it is very rough and the undertow is strong. Lifeguards along the beach front will not allow you to go in very far due to this. We only found a couple areas along a 2-3 mile stretch of beach on either side of the Zilara, that had yellow caution flags where we had a few minutes in the sea-was a blast but still rough.Dining experiences were generally very good and service again was thoughtful and superior. Choices are abundant. If you are wanting to experience the Chef's Plate, you need to book in advance or have a week or more there. We tried to book upon check in and it was not available until a couple days post departure. Make reservations early for Asiana also as it books pretty fast. You're still in good shape, as there really is not a bad option through out the resort. Room service is somewhat limited, but still respectable. And fast! With so many excellent staff members, we had to point out and give kudos to Roberto at Pelicano's and also Kiru and the swim up bar.Entertainment in the main lobby bar area was very entertaining the one evening we saw it.Beautifully manicured grounds and the pool areas were kept spic and span. The only slight frustration was that the spas or jacuzzi pools were not hot, although the pools were heated to a comfortable temperature-it would have been nice to warm up when overcast and windy. There's always the 2 person jacuzzi in your room!If you are looking for fine linens and bedding, upscale and richly appointed bathrooms sparkling clean rooms with luxurious architectural embellishments, this is the resort you want to stay at. Enjoy!

Best Hyatt I've ever stayed!!!! Totally WOWed!

I never tried all-inclusive resorts before, After reading all the reviews, I know this is gonna be amazing!!We arrived around 2:30pm on MLK weekend, the lady at the front door confirmed my last name and guided us to a private check in area due to my Platinum status with Hyatt. Eddie Chan was super friendly and introduced all the details that we need to know about our stay! He also upgraded us to a ocean view suite, which gives us the acess to the chef's plate. However, it was all booked for the two nights we were there. But it's no big deal since the food on the other restaurants are already amazing!!!We tried the Pelicanos, Maria marie, Spice and Asiana. I have to say the buffet at the Spice was the BEST! The quality and variety of the food was simply phenomenal! There are so many choices of steak and meat! Even 7 choices of fresh juice in the morning! You don't even need to go to other restaurants at all because it's just that good already! Pelicanos was my second fav because it gives you a beautiful view of the ocean! Generally we are not that wowed by the restaurants since the menu is pre-set, don't get me wrong! They are still all good! We just simply love the buffet style since i can sample everything that i want! The room and service: Our oceanview suite is probably the most spacious suite I've ever stayed! The double hot tub was soooo relaxing! The shower room was HUGE! I just wish i could stay longer in my room. All the waiters and bar tenders are super friendly and attentive! Here i just want to mention some names: Arcangel in Spice, Omar in Pelicanos! And our housekeepers for room 125. Thank you so much for making my vacation sooo special and beautiful!!!This was definitely the best Hyatt I've ever stayed! And i will come back for sure next time when i am visiting!

My Favorite Cancun Resort

The Hyatt Zilara Cancun is my favorite overall resort in Cancun! I've stayed at Secrets the Vine, Live Aqua, Fiesta Americana Coral Beach, Riu Palace, JW Marriott, Excellence Riviera Maya, and Villa Rolandi (Zoetry) in Isla Mujeres. The service(the employees), layout and facilities of the resort, and the food make the Zilara my favorite! It never felt crowded even though it was at 95% occupancy. The employees were genuinely nice, friendly, professional, accommodating, so hardworking, and always wanted to make sure the guests were happy. My husband and I want to commend the restaurant employees in particular. My husband is a chef, has worked as executive chef in Melia Paradisus Resorts, and he was extremely pleased with the restaurant employees. The chefs wanted to please my husband chef. When we told the chefs we wished there was more Mexican food on the buffet, they made special DELICIOUS MEXICAN food for us, panuchos, salbutes, pozole, etc... The Chef de Partie, Guadalupe was unbelievable! Everyday he would talk to us and want to make us special food. Guadalupe was extremely knowledgeable, professsional, and caring. The chef, Jose, in Spice was always so happy to please us, such a pleasant attitude, and what a fabulous pozole he made! Chefs, Francisco and Octavio, also made a wonderful lasting impression on us. My husband chef is difficult to please, and the chefs pleased him, thank you!!! Carlos, the manager/captain at Spice Buffet restaurant was also exceptional! While there, I had the opportunity to speak to the General Manager, Alfonso, and I told him if I had a business I would hire Carlos. Not only was he concerned about guests' pleasure in the restaurant, but he spoke with and listened well to any guests' concerns in the entire resort and took appropriate action. Our only problem was the air conditioning in our room, well lack there of... the coolest our room would get was 76 degrees at 3am. And that was with keeping all curtains closed all day. I spoke with Gina, our Concierge. Maintenance came several times, said air conditioning could not be repaired at that time. Someone brought fans, and a few days later Gina said we could change rooms. We were grateful for the offer but loved the corner location of our swim up suite, so we decided not to change. Gina tried her best. We paid almost $ 10,000.00 - ten thousand dollars for 2 weeks and I feel that the resort should not put people in rooms that have air conditioning problems. Portable air conditioners should have been provided for a temporary fix! This was very disappointing. I was uncomfortably warm in our room. For this reason, I gave the resort a 4, instead of a 5. Apparently, they are replacing air conditioning units throughout the resort little by little. I will not return to the Zilara until this problem is resolved. It's too bad, because it was my favorite resort overall. If you are accustomed to living, sleeping in 76 degrees or hotter, stay at the Zilara. If not, stay elsewhere! The open air lobby is also too hot and this was December. It must be a sauna in the summer. We really enjoyed Mexican night with the authentic Mexican food and vendors in the lobby! Delicious Mexican food and very nice, good quality, Mexican things to buy. The resort should advertise/promote Mexican night for more people to enjoy. Our favorite restaurant was Maria Marie. Excellent cuisine and enjoyable live entertainment from 7:00 - 8:00 pm.Don't hesitate to ask if you need anything, the employees are so willing to please. Hyatt Zilara is very fortunate to have such dedicated, hardworking, kind professionals. Thank you everyone for making our stay the most enjoyable! As you touch your heart and say, "from the heart". Thank you from our hearts. ❤❤
