Our Opinion

The Ibersotar Cancun is an OK choice for those looking for a place to stay. It's a beautiful resort. Their grounds are immaculate and well-maintained. The rooms follow suit as well. The best part of this hotel is that almost all of the suites have an oceanview. The food varied in quality. While there were some restaurants that show promise. There are some that could use improvement. The buffet restaurant tends to be a bit repetitive with their food choices. There are plenty of restaurants outside of the resort if you're looking for authentic Mexican fare.

Beautiful wedding desination

We stayed at this hotel with a large group for a wedding. The resort was beautiful. Has a wonderful view of the ocean from the infinity pool. The beach wedding was amazing! Wendy makes the best coffee in the mornings :)The only thing even close to a bad review I can give is the lack of food choices. They have a buffet and 4 other restaurants. The other 4 restaurants were not open every night, therefore you were very limited on your selection of where to eat. We found ourselves going to town for dinner most nights.

Quite average and caters more for minibreaks

We paid £2500 pp to come over for Christmas and New Year and although we had a nice time I would not recommend coming for two weeks and the. I've time we had was more down to the free drinks and people we met as opposed to the hotel. It caters a lot more for the American and Canadian mini-breakers than us English packagers. The hotel is spotless and we had no issue in booking the al la Carte restaurants. The steakhouse, the gourmet and the teppanyaki are all really nice. The Mexican needs shutting down and turning into something else. Food was absolutely crap and everyone we spoke to was of the same opinion. I hope the hotel listens to its guests. The daytime entertainment is absolutely dire and the compare continually shouting over the microphone does not make for a nice or a fun afternoon. We have been to hotels where the compares are funny but this was just an annoyance and source of noise and by no means entertaining and the most boring games known to man. Going on to the entertainment team now I am unsure what the hotel expects them to do on a night but they are continually loitering around the lobby bar in there sparkly jackets for a few hours earwigging into your conversations, talking crap to you and pretending to talk about the show before asking you to complete some form of survey where I understand they get paid some form of commission. Again they began such a pain for the two weeks we started to feel very uncomfortable and having to divert our eyes or ignore them when talking with friends. Complete waste of time and not a good experience for the guest. The buffet restaurant is nice but the food is exactly the same every day and I mean exactly the same! Also there was about two teapots so does not cater for is English who like our own teas. It's not Cuba so why the lack of utensils? The Christmas Day dinner was disappointing with no roast potatoes or any vegetables, however if you like chocolate santa,s instead then you onto a winner. We ended up going out NYE to avoid any further disappointment. Given that this is the main night there was no gala evening or anything. We had better experience at a three star in Goa for New Years. Sports bar, absolutely filthy, walked in twice and the bar man walked out without getting us a drink. Waited ten minutes before leaving. Another wasted space. On another sour note if you want relaxation stay away from the entertainment pool because apart from the rubbish and embarrassing entertainment you will get asked five times plus a day if you are interested in the spa services, if you want to party at coco bongos, are you interested in any watersports and so forth. It becomes tedious that the hotel is constantly trying to upsell rather than focusing on allowing people to enjoy a very expensive holiday. Lobby and pool bar staff excellent. Better service and better experience at the RUI,s and having this been my first experience at an iberostar I don't think for the price paid I would be returning the whole I was disappointed.

Amazing

Me and my boyfriend stayed here end of July start of august! It was our first visit to Cancun and I can honestly say it was truly amazing!! When we first walked in the lobby the smell was amazing and the views were breathtaking and the welcome cocktail a very nice touch!!! The staff were amazing from the beach bar to the restaurants they could literally not do enough for you. The maids made your stay special with adding the little extra touches which put a smile on your face especially David who looked after our room. The fridge in the room is restocked daily. The food in all of the restaurants was sublime especially the French restaurant. Breakfast was out of this world with so many choices. The day entertainment staff were so lively and kept going all day. Overall I would honestly say this hotel is out of this world and would be very lucky to stay here again.

Definitely recommend and will come back to Iberostar Cancun - stayed 2/13-2/18

For starters, we selected SuperShuttle for private transportation to/from the airport. It was very affordable and didn't have to sit in an overloaded, hot van with multiple stops. Our first visit to Cancun in over 7 years and it didn't disappoint. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the bell hop that told us to check in our luggage and it would be sent directly to our room once assigned. We went to check in and were greeted with cold lemonade. After only 10 minutes our room was assigned and we had already booked an Ocean View Suite and are so glad we did.The views were never ending, the only "Con" would be the wind. We were on the 8th of 9 floors. Sitting on the oversized terrace would've been more enjoyable, but not hotels fault. We loved sleeping with the doors wide open at night, until night 3 we heard an owl outside our patio door, so decided we need to be more aware of flying animals at night. Again not hotels fault, just things we didn't think of.We arrived on a nice calm Monday, the entertainment crew struggled to get participation from the few guests, but gave it a 100%. We really enjoyed listening to the band during dinner, they were great! There were events planned every night regardless of hotel crowd size. The Rooms were very clean and housekeeping did an excellent job. The staff was always working to keep the floors clean of sand. The hotel lobby smells just like a spa. The elevators became a problem about mid-way through as there always seemed to be one of 3 shut down for repairs and we either waited a while or stopped on every floor getting to and from the lobby. The elevators are not air conditioned either..The pools were gorgeous, but way too cold. The ocean was warmer! The hot tub was just that, a HOT TUB, no jets in either one, but that, by no means ruined our stay. Candy was our server one of the days on the beach and she kept the drinks coming, retrieved food for us, whatever we needed - she was awesome. The food - well, we only at the buffet, as you need to have reservations to eat at the restaurants. We tried to eat the steakhouse at 8:30 at night and they wouldn't let us even though there were several tables open, we had to be on the list regardless. Being on vacation, it would be nice to have some flexibility since we answer to schedules and appointments all year long at home. The buffet was pretty good, I'm not a big meal eater and my husband will eat anything, so we probably aren't the best critics.. It seemed to work okay for us!This is the perfect size resort for us, not too large and not to small. There were many couples, many families as well. The ocean waves were rough and there were a few deep spots close to the right side of roped area - seemed like a few people were struggling there and life guards were ready to jump in after them. We walked about a mile to the South and didn't really see any calm areas to jump in. There are several things to do here, you just need to wonder around and look at what it has to offer.

Very nice hotel, great service, awesome beach

This was our 2nd trip to Iberostar Cancun and 15th overall trip to an Iberostar Resort.Stayed 4 nites than we went to the Iberostar Maya. Service is top notch from the time we checked in to the time we left. We contacted Diana in guest services prior to arrival and all our request were taken care. Rooms were always clean and service was great. Buffet and specialty restaurants were above average for all inclusive resorts. Presentation was always good with plenty of options to choose from. Mario at the buffet always greeted us with a smile and made sure we were always taken care of.Beach was beautiful as always with plenty of lounge chairs available at all time.Pool area was very nice with plenty of areas to lounge. One of the nice things was you didn't have to wake up at 7:00 to reserve a chair at the beach or pool. Plenty available all day.Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice relaxing time in Cancun
