Our Opinion

The Ibersotar Cancun is an OK choice for those looking for a place to stay. It's a beautiful resort. Their grounds are immaculate and well-maintained. The rooms follow suit as well. The best part of this hotel is that almost all of the suites have an oceanview. The food varied in quality. While there were some restaurants that show promise. There are some that could use improvement. The buffet restaurant tends to be a bit repetitive with their food choices. There are plenty of restaurants outside of the resort if you're looking for authentic Mexican fare.

We loved Iberostar!

Overall our trip was awesome. The people were so kind and remembered us by name every day! There was never a time we needed something and couldn't get it. I would suggest going to this resort with your family because there are activities every day and lots of fun!

I survived the Iberostar nightmare

My boyfriend and I stayed this hotel 14 months ago and couldn't believe how amazing it was! The location, food and staff were out of this world we had never been so impressed. We talked about it nonstop to family and friends when we got home. Therefore it seemed the obvious choice when picking a honeymoon destination. How wrong we were or at least it feels like the hotel was out to prove itself as a terrible choice.Upon check in we were not offered any of the things we were given the first time no upgrades no vouchers but they did promise it was a nice room as it was our honeymoon ( it was not) and that we would get a present ( we did not). This holiday is sold as a 5 star luxury holiday I'm pretty sure you should be able to get basics like water in 30c heat in a 5 star hotel. We were allocated a room sandwiched between a large family with young children rather than putting them in adjoining rooms and giving us the end room. There was constant screaming for at least the first 3 days of our honeymoon at all hours of the night and if it wasn't one of the older children screaming it was a baby crying. This family then left and were replaced by college students throwing parties in their room all night, this hotel seriously lacks soundproofing and the adjoining door between rooms is very thin making this noise even worse. Hotel reception do not care if you complain. On 4 occasions the do not disturb sign was removed from our door, we were using this because we could not sleep at night due to the constant noise and required sleep in the mornings. Having brought this to the attention of hotel staff on several occasions will no response, we actually considered changing hotels. We had heard other guests discussing the same idea. The door to our balcony was broke so it would not open, the air conditioner is the loudest I've ever heard (not enough to drown out the screaming/partying) and not very effective, room mini bar is to be restocked daily this did not happen, the room was not cleaned. The food is awful I was sick for the first 4 days. On about day 5 again we were in the buffet restaurant and there was only empty trays where food used to be this was 15 mins after lunch started and there were still 3 hours of lunch service to go. The food is not labelled and it is a giant guessing game. I never saw a waiter on several occasions in the buffet restaurant, but i did see plenty on one particular night in fact on that occasion I saw 4 waiters, a head waiter, a chef and as usual the entertainment guys. Proving it is possible for the hotel to deliver suitable quality service but they actively choose not to. In the buffet my cutlery was obviously left from the previous guest and had food on it apparently the waiter couldn't understand why I wouldn't want to use it, the tablecloths were dirty and the napkins wet and food stained.Thought we would try room service at least we were guaranteed some food, when it arrived it was freezing cold but burnt and my American style chicken nugget contained several bones.A positive though is the speciality restaurants were great and the staff couldn't have been better I strongly recommend that if you have the misfortune to find yourself at this hotel you try to eat in them.Another positive was the lobby bar staff who are excellent and as I sat there on day 3/4 of our 'luxury' honeymoon pricing flights home or moving hotel their constant refilling of my glass is possibly the only reason we didn't head for the airport.Definitely think we should have been warned not to expect the same standard as last time due to being ignored in favour of footballers. Not sure if it is that they only care for the large number of footballers currently staying at the hotel or it is the complete lack of any service or ability to deal with complaints but please think twice before you book this hotel. Will we return definitely not which is disappointing for somewhere we had loved so much.

An honest review...

The first 2-3 days were not what we expected... We stayed in the main hotel but it was dated and in my opinion, not worthy of a 5* rating. We were moved to another room but we still had a similar problem. Without a fuss we were moved to one of the villa's situated outside the hotel which were of a 5* quality. Clean, quiet and what you would expect. The hotel accommodated for my wife's gluten allergy extremely well. She is a celiac and as such is very allergic to gluten. The head chef and his team would ensure that my wife's food was cooked by them to ensure no cross contamination and to ensure she was happy. Top tip here, if you do have a severe allergy then just speak to guest services to ensure you are set up with a meeting with the head chef otherwise it will get lost in translation. Food: A bit of a let down for me. For a 5 star hotel I expected much better. I would give the food 3.5 out of 5 at a push. It was a real let down. I stayed there 10 nights and ate dinner 4 times out side the hotel spending over £500 between Harry's and Freds. Breakfast is ok. Lunch is decent for lunch. Dinner is ok. The al a carte restaurants are ok. Maybe coming from London I am being too fussy but I have traveled the world and eaten at lots of places.. this place's food is sub par. Sorry to say. Rooms: If you are used to 4* accomodation then the main hotel rooms will be perfect. If you are used to real 5* hotels then you have to opt for the viila. Garden view or sea view doesnt matter. Its just for the rooms. They are new and well looked after. You will feel happy in there. Facilities, service, entertainment and drinks: Excellent! All very high quality. The pools are gorgeous and certainly 5* level. The service is 5* The gardens and surrounding areas are clean and manicured. The views are wonderful. The drinks are premium. Havana rums, premium vokdas, JD, Black Label whiskey. Big thumbs up here. Their evening entertainment is really fun. I've never experienced something like that before but it was great. Children - I have a 3.5 year old. The children will love it! a really cool kids pool.Kids club. Food for them is great. All in all if they upped there food game and refurbished the main hotel this hotel would be amazing rather than good.

Im overwhelmed

Well words cant describe how amazed i am at this hotel! Im still here and leaving thirsday MASSIVE upset face!! Everything is just perfect...from the gardens to the bedroom to the maids to the food to the staff! There is not ONE thing i could possibly say bad about! All i can say is Iberostar you have wowed me amazed me and overwhelmed me! You have made me realise that paying for a cheaper all inclusive is a waist of money when you pay extra and you get this perfect amazing little diamond of a hotel in a perfect location!!! My only very small complaint is ...NOTHING!! You keep doing what you are doing and me and my partner and friends will always return..but next time we are going to pay extra so i we can have the room with balcony jacuzzi! Just to overwhelm us even more! Haha! I dont want to go home!! The staff are so so hard working! CANDY from the pool bar your amazing in fact all the staff are amazing! Thankyou to the security guard who stayed with us whilst we watched turtles on the beach and spoke to us about what they do why they dig big holes etc! Its a truly magical amazing experience being here and dont want to leave on thursday!!

Great Time!

We enjoyed our anniversary trip here! This was our 1st time in Cancun. Very friendly staff in all areas of resort! Everything was clean and grounds are kept well! We had a poolside balcony ocean room and view was incredible!! We liked the Steakhouse and Habachi grill the best! At night the broadway show and Magic show were entertaining. The beach and pools were great! One thing would of liked better is jacuzzi pool water temperature be warmer, but overall had a great time and would come back!
