Our Opinion

This resort is incredibly fitting for those who are looking for high-end service and luxury amenities. The Live Aqua Cancun does not fall short on top-notch elements. From the time that guests enter the resort, to when they check-out, they are greeted with the most pleasant and attentive staff. This is a resort that is better suited for those who are wanting lots of rest and relaxation. The resort is farther off from the main strip where a majority of the action happens. The rooms here are spacious and luxurious. One element that sets this resort apart from the rest is the small details and amenities that they offer to their guests during their stay. Both a la carte and buffet items are the best in quality compared to other resorts that you'd find along Cancun.


Overview
Live Aqua Cancun belongs to a new brand of high-end hotels in the luxury lifestyle market. This adults-only property breaks out from the traditional hotel concept and focuses instead on the specific luxurious lifestyle. Featuring an excellent location, right in the center of the Hotel Zone in Cancun, this impressive property is just a few steps from the main shopping mall in the city and has the beautiful Nichupte Lagoon on one side and the ocean on the other.

Good Food and Lots to Do

This resort was surprisingly large, offered a variety of food (I think there's something like nine restaurants - no reservations required on all but one) and had lots of daily activities. I like to relax at resorts, but I also like to have options other than just lunging at a pool/beach. This resort had some midday performances at the pool by their staff on the water (maybe why it's called "Live Aqua" haha) and if you rent a beach cabana, you get a free 20 min foot massage with the rental. We split ours up for 10 and 10 so that two of us could get the massage. The first night I was there I got bitten by mosquitos or some other biting bug at dinner, but that was the only downside, and I'm sure that would have happen no matter where I'd stayed in Cancun. I was also sitting outside by a water fountain, so that probably played a role in the biting...Another delightful surprise of this hotel was that each day coming back from the pool or beach, they had a crepe stand where you could get one made before heading up to your room to clean up for the evening. Just a nice little touch on top of already great service. They also offered activities at night, like live music, which is a nice option to have instead of just going to bed post dinner.The gym was larger than most hotels. Hidden Garden had really good food and such a great ambiance.

2nd time returning and there will be a 3rd!

We had previously visited Live Aqua in November 2014. When we decided to do another beach all inclusive trip this year, we knew we wanted to go back to LA. We knew what to expect and knew how much we had enjoyed it last time etc. Last time we stayed in a garden view room on the first floor and it was lovely. However this time we chose to upgrade to an ocean view suite and when we return in the future we will HAVE to get the same thing. Wow! The room and the view were incredible. The big balcony we enjoyed every single day. The room was amazing. We also enjoyed the Aqua Club. It was a wonderful place to escape the heat and to chill and have a drink. The service here was impeccable as well...the concierge and bar staff were so helpful and friendly. Then to top it all off - the daily cabanas were wonderful! I was nervous after reading other recent reviews about the towel game and saving unused chairs so I was watchful for this even though we had a reserved cabana. There were always plenty of beach chairs and some pool chairs not in use. On a couple different occasions I saw staff pick up towels in chairs at the pool that had not been used in a long time. There are signs up in the bathrooms and at the pool desk informing ones if a chair is left unoccupied for more than 30 mins their things would be taken up. I doubt these had been unoccupied 30 mins (which is a little quick to me anyway) but it was most of the day no one had used the chairs and I was glad to see this being enforced. Plus they are always willing to help you find a chair. The wait staff at the beach and the pool were so attentive. They work so hard. Every 10-15 mins at least one person would check to see what we needed. They even brought a refill without being asked - even if we didn't want it :). It's this kind of personal service I just was so impressed with. They recommended drinks and in the restaurants they were anxious to recommend food. And the food .... just as wonderful as we remembered. The menus had changed some since we last visited in a couple restaurants. We only did the Italian restaurant once and it was our least favorite to be honest. The Hidden Garden, sushi, and MB are just excellent. And one night I wasn't feeling very well so we hit the buffet for dinner so I could get something light and they had exactly what I was looking for there. There is a constant supply of food! Something is always open. The hardest part is choosing what to eat! And yes the breakfast buffet doesn't change everyday - but there are SO many choices on the buffet I don't know how you could get tired of the food. There were so many different varieties of the same food even. Even when we had to leave at 4am to catch our returning flight, there was a table set up in the lobby with coffee, fruit and cookies. The staff are just all so kind and welcoming - whether is wait staff or hostesses or housekeeping or pool concierge etc. One lady heard us at the pool desk that it was going to be our last day at the hotel. She approached us a little later and asked where we would be eating dinner that night so they could do something special for us. They asked at every restaurant we entered if we were celebrating something that night and they asked the same question when we checked in. We told them it was a late anniversary trip - 2nd night we came in from dinner to the spoiling turn down service and had chocolate covered strawberries and champagne and rose petals waiting for us. WOW is just all I can say. Each day it was something different going on - synchronized swimming show, singers, free 5 min chair massage at the pool. Another day they were offering free samples from the spa which was an incredible head and face massage. Another hot day they came around to offer spritz of rose water with cold ice towels for refreshment. There was a gentleman offering Corndogs at the pool or another fun food item, crepes every afternoon, and the list just goes on and on. There were other business conferences taking place here at the same time as our visit. Parts of the pool area would close at a certain time for a couple days. But it never bothered us. I never felt like the service changed. And one night we tried to go to Hidden Garden and it was closed for an event. No prob to us- we had other choices of yummy food to eat. We never had to wait for a restaurant which was also important to me. The hotel didn't feel super full except on the Saturdays and Sundays we were there - then it was much more crowded. But again it didn't impact our days at all. I could go on and on but we are anxious to return again in the near future.

AMAZING Mother/Daughter 40th Birthday Trip!

My Mom & I went to Live Aqua in May to celebrate my 40th Birthday. From the time we walked in, we felt relaxed, even the lobby had a calming effect, which is just what we needed! Check-in was easy and after checking in we were introduced to Lillian, who told us all about the resort and where everything was located. My mom & I knew it was a sign, my Grandmother's name is Lillian (my mom's mom) and I wore her ring there because she loved the beach/ocean and we felt like a part of her was there, So when we met Lillian, it made our day. She's a lovely girl too, super sweet and when she started telling us about the special breakfast/timeshare, I just told her no thank you, that we weren't interested and that was it. No more pressure at all throughout the week. We stayed at LeBlanc and our concierge that was assigned to us pestered us almost every day and kept trying to offer more and more perks if we went, it was annoying. I loved that Live Aqua was not pushy at all, a simple no was all it took. We got an oceanfront room on the 2nd floor and the view was amazing! We didn't get any rice art on our bed while we were there which I was looking forward too, especially after seeing all the beautiful things done for special milestone birthdays & anniversaries & it was noted in our reservation but that's ok, everything else made up for it! The food was amazing and I loved how you had SO many options for both lunch & dinner!! The breakfast buffet was good but we skipped it a couple days just so we could have a big lunch - we didn't want to miss out on anything! We ate dinner around 7:30/8:00 and the only place we had a wait was MB. It was no problem, we sat in the bar and had a drink until they came & got us. The Habenero Soup in a bread bowl was heaven on earth! I had read all about it so I was eager to try it. Did not disappoint, I could have eaten it every day! Cesar, our wonderful waiter, took great care of us and brought a dessert for my 40th and a dessert for Mother's Day for my Mom - nothing better than being in Paradise on Mother's Day right? Lunch options are plentiful, they BBQ over by Inekkech, then they have the sea corner tucked away below the swim up bar pool as well as Azur and the lunch buffet at Siete. You can also order food at the pool/cabana's! We didn't do room service but will try it next time. Also have the Sushi Station and crepe station outside of the bar by MB's in the late afternoon. Dinner, so many options as well, you'll never run out of places to eat! Azur was our favorite, Hidden Garden was our least favorite, but really all were so good!Like people said, there is no "nightlife" which is fine with us. After dinner we'd hang out in the bar and have a drink or a flaming coffee (YUM!). They had music a couple of nights and I noticed a poker game set up outside as well as Bingo. We stayed at the bar by MB's, the one upstairs the music was SO loud you couldn't even hear each other talk. It was a cute bar though.Don't be surprised if you run into "Godzilla". He is an iguana that hangs around the resort and he is HUGE, enough to scare some people but he was just chilling and didn't bother us at all. We'd also see other small iguana's periodically. They also have Julio the cat that hangs around Hidden Garden and Varenna.We opted to pay the $65 to rent a cabana every day but one (we went shopping across the street at La Isla one day), we burn VERY easy and that sun was HOT! If you didn't get to the pool really early in the morning, the chairs with umbrella's all had towels on them. Several times from our cabana, we would never even see the people who "reserved" their chairs with umbrella's, my thing is if you're not going to use it, let someone else who plans on lounging around all day use it. Plenty of chairs, but all with umbrella's were "reserved" before breakfast. We had Marisol one day and she was AMAZING! So sweet & went out of her way to get us washcloths and a bucket with ice water to cool ourselves because it was so hot and no breeze. She was always checking to see if we needed anything. She wasn't assigned cabana's the rest of the week, but we got Jhona next and loved him!! We requested cabana's in whatever section he was in the rest of the week. Always so sweet and friendly and kept our drinks coming, he even got us our lime ice cream a couple days - it's not on the menu but ask for it at Azur or at the pool, you'll thank me later!! :) Ashley, the pool manager was great as well, always offering to help and great to talk with. Armando at the towel shack, he's so sweet & adorable!!I read that people say it's the people that make this resort & I couldn't agree more! There were so many nice people but I have to mention the 3 most wonderful people we had the pleasure of meeting during our stay. Mauricio at breakfast & Azur at lunch was simply amazing, always had a big hug and smile waiting for us every day. He must have mentioned my birthday to the wonderful chef Frank at Azur that it was my birthday and he came into the Siete while at breakfast and Mauricio introduced us to him and chef Frank invited us to come to Azur at lunch for a special lunch he would prepare for us. We were blown away by their kindness & friendship and the food was simply amazing! We were very humbled that he did that for us and for Mauricio for setting it up. I cannot say enough great things about them!Then there's Marco, the smoothie guy at breakfast. Wow, what a breath of fresh air he was! ALWAYS smiling and giving hugs and you can tell he genuinely loves his job. He would see us come in and have our smoothies ready before we even got our coffee. Absolutely amazing, he should be the poster guy for Live Aqua! Even when we didn't eat breakfast we still had to get our Mauricio and Marco "fix" so we'd come down just to get coffee and a smoothie to see them. We loved being able to spend the mornings with Mauricio and Marco, they work great together and they became like family to us and were sad to leave them and this beautiful resort!One small complaint but not enough to ever deter us from coming back here. There were very loud & drunk people out in the hallways several nights. Anywhere from 11:30pm - 3:00am. The hallways are curved so there is an echo so you hear everything! Someone would complain, it would get quiet, then it would start up again. Make sure to bring earplugs, glad I did! I know management only knows about it when people call and complain but it was pretty bad almost every night. 2 of the nights we knew it was the wedding party we saw down in the pool earlier, who were so drunk and obnoxious, people were getting up and leaving.We will definitely return to this lovely resort though, I miss it and the people & food already!

Queen for a Stay!

Late review. College friends and I visited Live Aqua last winter for a 4 day getaway! It was a short but thoroughly enjoyed vacation. Service was impeccable. Staff are friendly, helpful and fun! After a night of partying, one of our fav waiters Gustavo, at Azur restaurant, served my friend a hangover cocktail that resuscitated her. The food is AMAZING!!! There are several restaurants to choose from...2-3 which are not inclusive, which wasn't as issue for us as the inclusive restaurants had a great selection and the buffet offered copious amounts of food, drinks and snacks. The pools are gorgeous, the view is breath-taking. Absolutely no complaints. I would return in a heartbeat! Shout-out to Ashley & Jesus (@Azur) who treated us like Queens.

Not what it's cracked up to be..

We went for birthday celebrations with just the girls. We requested 2 beds while booking this hotel. When we arrived we were so excited to be away with just the girls. Some of us for the first time. We walk in to the hotel and this overwhelming toilet smell almost dropped me to my knees. Then we go to check in and the Hotel tries to convince us to go to the Pent house instead of the rooms we booked. We kept an open mind and were excited to check it out. We walk in to 4 roll away cots set up in living room with two other rooms. Not doable for 12 girls. We ask to have our rooms We check in with the extremely impatience front desk man. Now still keeping calm we go to our rooms 12 ladies 2 per room to walk in to king size beds. They didn't have our rooms available. They didn't offer us anything nicer or more expensive unless we payed for it. The rooms were nice... I would say book at another place. Sarah Warren NJ
