Our Opinion

A suitable budget-friendly resort for those who are looking for a quick stay in Cancun. The resort is all-inclusive optional, so guests have the option to simply use the resort as a place to stay. The grounds are adequately maintained. There are plenty of options with regards to liquor items. This is a very quiet and low-key type of resort. It is definitely more suited for those who are wanting a modest stay and are touring around Cancun for a majority of their stay.

Small and very comfortable hotel

I highly recommend this hotel. Our stay hasn’t completed yet. But so far it’s great! The staff mostly friendly. Good breakfast, lunch a la carte is mostly good, but too crowded, waiters work on speed and you start eat faster even if you don’t want it (my advice- don’t order hamburger, the meet is dry and tasteless). Good lobby, rooms junior suite are good and clean. Our honeymoon is time of our lives. Thank you Nyx hotel team.

Wonderful vacation

Very nice resort with wonderful clean beach. The front desk stuff are very friendly and helpful. We arrived around 11:30 am and the check in was 3:00 pm the check in was very smooth. The first the hotel was fully booked and the room we got was on the first floor close the the lobby bar (left side of the hotel which is close to the new construction next to the hotel) the first room was dated, very tired furniture and the noise from the construction was very loud, and the sound proofing was very bad we can hear the loud singing and cheering from the lobby bar. the second day we changed the room. The second room was amazing with new furniture, the bathroom was very nice and it has partial ocean view. it was far from the lobby and the construction site ( the right side of the hotel )Restaurants:The breakfast was very good and the food selection was very descent (lagoon view - Open Buffet)The Lunch is OK - (but everyday is the same menu) - Open air deck with ocean viewThe dinner was very good with different menu every night - Open air deck with ocean viewThe Italian restaurant (dinner) is very special with nice selection of Italian foodAll the waiter and bar tenders are friendly and nice

Perfect getaway

We have so many positives to say about this vacation. I never leave reviews for places, so the fact that I’m leaving one says how much we enjoyed it!It was our anniversary, which they made very special—upgraded our room, made up our bedroom with rose pedals & treated us to a little welcoming Champagne treat, free of charge! The hotel is VERY clean and the hotel staff were all very wonderful and fun! We speak little Spanish, and communication was never an issue for us. The bartenders and restaurant staff were all very friendly and accommodating. I’ve done plenty of all inclusive places before where the house alcohol and wine were cheap and gave me hangovers, and all of the spirits here were excellent. Had top shelf things that were not part of the all inclusive, but we didn’t feel the need for it. Specially, Eddy and Juan José were amazing—the bartenders at the pool bar. Always making us new and fun concoctions, full of bartender tricks, and just wonderful to talk to!The Deck Restaurant is full of amazing food. Every night, they have a different theme from a different culture—Mexican, Italian, Mediterranean, Caribbean, Asian, etc.—and every meal was delicious. The meats were prepared exactly as ordered, and I never felt like I had to question the quality of the food. We ate everything from steak, sushi, burgers, ceviche, and everything was delicious.Overall, the only negative was that there was construction noise next-door, that at times kept us up. But they are almost done with the building so that shouldn’t be an issue much longer.I will be going back soon for a girls trip and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone! Perfect little beach front getaway for couples, families, or even singles!

Nice little beach hotel

The NYX is a relatively small hotel, compared with the huge hotels that are everywhere in Cancun. Ist is located in the northern part of the Hotel Zone in Cancun, close to a shopping mall at the othe rside of the street. Our room was in a new part of the hotel, the room was big, very clean but unfortunately the elevator was not working yet. No problem for us but we had to walk the 3 floors up and downstiars everytime we wanted to go to the room or back to the beach or other amenity. The hotel has a nice pool (with poolbar) directly at the beach, and a part of the beach with palm trees and sunchairs which is also really nice. There is also a restaurant for lunch and dinner directly located at the beach. The breakfast was good and had lots of choices with international and local options.

Pleasant if limited amenities, poor room comfort

I'll start with the negative: our room was in Tower 4 and not part of the main building. We had a corner room, which meant that each of our windows was flanked by an outdoor staircase. 1. NoiseWith this in mind, we usually closed the blinds for privacy -however there was nothing that could be done for the noise. We could hear anyone passing by on either staircase, at any time of day or night, as well as if they had been in the room. Our room had a door to the adjoining room (locked, of course), which turned out to be housekeeping. The sound carried through this door as well, and we were woken up on three consecutive days at 4am by housekeeping coming in for its shift and chatting loudly. 2. Humidity & ColdThe room seemed also be poorly insulated and had no heating. We turned off the air conditioning as soon as we came in but the room remained quite cold. We opted to get two additional blankets, which turned out to be very helpful for sleeping -but otherwise anytime we were in the room we had to resort to climbing inside the covers to be comfortable. We made the mistake of washing a few items of clothing and hanging them to dry within the room -the air circulation & cold made it impossible for them to dry, even 24 hours later (we ended up drying off the clothes with a hand dryer). A few days later, with the sky overcast & intermittent rain, the room was so humid that our dry clothes felt damp to the touch. 3. Limited Amenities & EntertainmentI've been to a couple of all-inclusive resorts in the past, and they typically offer at least 2-3 restaurant options for meals, typically dinner, or some type of organized dinner and show options throughout the week. This resort had 2 restaurant, one of which was limited to 1 meal per stay. This meant that we ate lunch and dinner at the other restaurant 6 days out of 7, which ended up being quite repetitive, although they varied the menu and the food was quite good. There is also essentially 1 pool, as the lobby-level pool seemed to not be in use. There wasn't much going on in way of entertainment -they brought in the same band to play in the lobby a few nights and a mariachi band other nights to play in the restaurant. The gym was tiny, I wouldn't really expect to be able to keep up an exercise plan from this hotel. On the other hand, the food was overall delicious, especially any Mexican meals & fish dishes. The staff was friendly, although seemingly quite overworked and usually in a rush.
