Our Opinion

The Oasis Palm is a great hotel for young or student travelers that are looking for a great place to party. The party atmosphere can be felt both inside and outside of the resort. The pools play host to parties during the day and the city center is nearby, where there are plenty of nightclubs and bars. The food is OK here. While there is an array of choices available, it's nothing to write about. Their bar staff deserve recognition, as they are known for speedy and great service. The rooms are well maintained and cleaned regularly by attentive staff. The check-in and check-out process is a hit or miss at times. Depending on the volume of guests coming into the hotel, guests might experience slower service that usual. This is an OK hotel. However, if you're looking for a resort that's known for it's laid-back and relaxing atmosphere, it's better to look elsewhere.

Great for the family

Location of hotel is excellent ideal for families cators for all. However if you want a quieter relaxing holiday this hotel is not the one. Really could do with a face lift needs updating. Enjoyed my time will most certainly be going back to Cancun but sad to say not this hotel. Very. Yay don't expect a good. I Hkt sleep here. Reception staff not very friendly entertainment staff are amazing. Plenty of things to do at this hotel. Considering it was quiet busy still had a good space on beach front.

1st Time - Vacation in Cancun

*The hotel was very nice, the room we were given for our Anniversary Upgrade had some awesome views. With a private balcony. *The food variety at the buffets was great! La Bamba, Los Agaves and the snack bars had great food too... No complaints!*They had different shows every night, (some of the shows were not good for children, like the "Latin Show") They should put some ratings on the Entertainment Guide. The Circus Show, was great but go early, because it gets filled up! *Beware of the people in the brown shirts & hats waiting to talk to you when you come out of having breakfast or lunch. They are sales people, (Like Time Share) offering to show you the Grand Oasis, free massages, etc. We were tricked into going with one of them, he ended up leaving us with an aggressive sales person. We demanded to be taken back to our hotel and received nothing in return, not even the tour. Wasted about an hour and half to two hours, because we caught on otherwise it could have been longer, it was very upsetting... They should not allow those people on the resort!*Beware also of your belongings, I was missing a little bottle of my contact drops. Good thing it wasn't anything expensive! The weather was good, we had some passing clouds drop some rain on us one day only. My husband and I had a wonderful time otherwise...

BAD EXPERIENCE!

If you are looking for a place to spend a family vacation with young kids, this is not the place for you. My family had the worse family vacation experience in this resort. Safety was a big concern for us, the resort was full of safety hazards (floating trampoline in the pool, super steep footbridge over the pool with slippery surface, slippery floors throughout). Our trip started off with a watching a mother looking for her lost 3 year old son who she left in the kids club and apparently they let him out without his mom's permission, she finally found him but the fact that she lost her son in a place that she thought was safe was scary for me. On the second day, my niece had a big cut in her belly from climbing the floating trampoline, while we were worried about her the manager came and all they cared about was filling out a form to report the accident. On the third day, I fell in the lobby on a slippery floor and once again all they cared about was to fill out the paper work to report the accident, let me say that I have back problems and this fall added to my back problems. There was no ramps any where in this resort, which means if you are traveling with a stroller plan to carry it up and down the stairs.Food was very bad, staff was rude, restrooms were not clean especially the one by the pool, and we could smell sanitary sewer on the beach, in the restrooms and in our room. They obviously have a sanitary sewer issue in this resort. Keys did not work probably and we had to reprogram them every day at least once a day. The only good thing I have to say about this place is the beach, nice clear water with no waves which was good for the kids.Bottom line is, an advice from a family that cares about her kid's safety, this is not a place we would recommend for a family with kids. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!

This place was garbage!

Really...this place was garbage!... the rooms were beyond dated.....you have to upgrade to the Royal Palms to get a decent room... the food was rough.... the beach is ok.... we were not the only people there that were unhappy.....I would recommend staying somewhere else

5 stars for Staff, Food and Ambiance

Oasis Palm is not perfect, but one needs to pay a lot for perfection (and then, may not get it). For a comparatively budget price (by Cancun prices) it was 5 stars for us. Staff (with one exception) was superb, always gracious and willing to accommodate. Food was varied, of good quality, tasty and almost all-Mexican -- but they also have pastas (not every day), steaks (try the rib eye with cholmil sauce at La Aguava), hamburgers and hot dogs daily at the beach snack bar, and omelettes, bacons, sausages, (daily), french toast or pancakes, plus the occasional pizza, at the buffet. Fruits and salads, always available. Ambiance was comfortable and highly conducive to a Mexican vacation feel -- lovely Mexican decor, palms, lots of shady and sunny areas, constant views of the sea, ongoing music/entertainment, clean surroundings, clientele mostly spanish-speaking and friendly. Entertainment - plenty of different singers, and the Mariachi band plays almost every night. One can dance to the latin beat nightly (for open air dancing). There's also a show at the theatre nightly (?). For kids, the pool had equipment sure to please, and there was always a just-for kids buffet. Bedroom: Our bed was king-size (rm. 347) and comfortable, and there was enough space for clothing (dresser and closet) and for toiletries. Hotel location is just 4.5 kms. from downtown Cancun (hence near the excellent A.D.O. bus terminal for cheap trips to Chichen Itza, Merida, Playa del Carmen, etc. - watch out for pickpockets however at the terminal. Tickets cheaper if purchased the day before). Hotel is also only a 5 minute walk to the Embarcadero (for ferries that leave for Isla Mujeres every hour and a half -- you must try Playa Norte at Isla - gorgeous beach, super calm seas - umbrella with 2 loungers can be rented anywhere form Mex P 110 to 300). Just outside the hotel, on Boulevard Kukulcan (BK), the R1 and R2 buses pass by every minute or so (in November 2016, cost was Mex P 10.50 a ride; when you get on the bus, tell the driver where you're going and he'll let you off there ). BK runs the length of the Cancun hotel strip, into central Cancun and other parts. These 2 buses can take you to the other beaches (Playa Forum at km 9 has clear turquoise water, and strong waves) and the many shopping plazas along BK -- for what seems the best in silver jewelry, check out shop "Sebastian," at Plaza Caracol (ground floor, km 8 BK) -- look for the mark ".925 Mex" on the silver, and negotiate a discount over the already-price tagged pieces.Thank you, Oasis Palm. "Muchas gracias, abrazos y besos a" Judith (of the front desk), Sergio (for the upkeep of our room), Luis, Jennifer, Jair and Jonathan, Nelly and all the staff of La Agave (Luis, the mayan cafe was spectacular) and the always smiling Dorian of the front lobby. Also, thanks to the Cantina roaming barman, and to Melissa at Oh! by Oasis.Very minor cons (non-issue for us, all things considering): the shower head at room 347 could use a replacement, bring silicon ear plugs for a few nights when the next door "Captain Hook" entertainment gets too noisy late at night, and Room 347 A/C thermostat seems faulty (room gets too cold into the night) so bring a sweater. Anyway, if you're taking the A.D.O. bus (great seats and highly comfortable ride!), you'll need a sweater as it can get really chilly on the bus.
