Our Opinion
A good hotel to stay for those who are budget conscious. Everything about the resort, from the rooms, to the hotel grounds are well-kept. Everything in the rooms are in good working condition. The a la carte items are probably one of the better elements of this resort. The dishes are pretty tasty and good in quality, compared to what you'd probably get in any other All-Inclusive Resort. The staff of this resort are amazing. They ensure that you're getting the most out of your stay. While this resort scored high on a majority of elements, it's location makes it a little less favorable than other choices. The stretch of beach here isn't as great as others found in Cancun. Despite this, the water and waves are relatively calm, making it great for kids to swim in.
Nestled on a stretch of beautiful beach dusted with white sand, the Ocean Spa Hotel overlooks Isla Mujeres and provides breathtaking views of the Caribbean.

Search for every little detail about the hotel first and you wont be disappointed.

We have stayed 6 nights at Ocean Spa. We had done our homework and looked up for every review/info we could get before booking it. All in all, we liked this hotel very much, there were a few things we did not like, but this is not a 5 star hotel, so do not expect a luxury hotel because its not. We paid a very fair and reasonable price, for this reason, we did not complain about anything.Things to improve: the shower head in the bathroom which does not concentrate water for you to shower properly. We wrapped a towel around the shower head and tah dah, issue resolved. There was a slightly smell of mold in our room, which I think its understandable as you have to factor in heat and humidity, however, our pillows had mold smell as well which I think its unacceptable. This should be checked by the cleaning management people. The beach is not great as its not an open water beach, its a bay, so do not expect the famous Caribbean bright blue ocean, however, you can get a shuttle bus for free from Ocean Spa to Royal Sunset (same chain) to use their hotel facilities and their gorgeous beach.Things we loved: The staff was amazing from the wait staff, bartenders and water sports staff. There was always some kind of entertainment going on to get people together. The food was good, large variety. Clean rooms. Free shuttle to/from sister hotels (although we rented a car, we used the shuttle a couple of times), the fact that you can use the sister hotels facilities/beaches was awesome. You can check out and still benefit from the hotel's amenities. You can use the sailboat for free for a beautiful and fun experience with Jose.A big shout out to Ricky, Manuel, Moises from the buffet restaurant, the guy from the pizza bar outside (cant remember his name), Adrian & Jimmy the entertainment guys, bell boys on arrival are very friendly, pretty much everyone was nice and friendly, managers should be proud of their staff who works very hard to satisfy their customers.

A Great Getaway

This hotel has beautiful landscaping, clean rooms and good food. Our room had a great view of the hotel grounds and beach. A couple of catamarans are available for guests to use. If you know how to sail, you can use them free of charge, something my husband & I enjoyed doing. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. A buffet is available for all 3 meals. If you want finer dining for dinner, you can make a reservation at either an Italian, Asian or Mexican restaurant on site. We made a reservation every night and our waiters Francisco and Seveviano made dinner enjoyable and did a great job of serving us. My husband & I also each got a massage at the spa and would recommend Irene Perez and Israel, whose skill and professionalism created a very calming atmosphere and relaxing experience.

Great Trip

This was a great resort. All staff were very friendly and courteous. The good was very good. This location does not have a true beach. This location is associated with a marina, so the sand at the small beach feels oily. They do have another property that has a major beach, with hourly free shuttles.Want to mention the great "waiter" service provide by Ismael Gamboa,And a special mention for waiters Wilfrido, and Francisco.

Major Disappointment

Trouble began as soon as we arrived on a Monday. We were denied an early check in (we arrived about noon), inspite of their low occupancy. We were told stearnly that we would have to wait until 3pm, no exceptions. The tone of their voices and their affect appeared hostile. So we waited around in a very hot and humid lobby. We also requested a room with a view of the water and were assured that most rooms have at least a partial view of the water. At 2pm, we walked by the chech-in desk and they said our room was ready, no explanation of why we were given a room earlier that 3pm. Ok, we'll take it, maybe our luck is changing. Nope! Our room is on the first floor, faces an alley where apparently employees park. The balcony faces the pool area, even though you can't see the water, and we have a view of a restaurant. I complained to the desk, was told that if I come back tomorrow, I might be able to get a better room. The room had 2 plugs, one over the sink and one in a closet area where I had to get on my knees to plug in. No plugs on the night stands or near the table. Twice, car alarms went off during the night at our front door. Once, the garbage truck came and emptied trash at 2 in the morning. The bed was fine as was the room temperature. There were 2 dead or dying cockroachs, but that indicated that they were exterminating. The picture associated with this hotel on this site is not the hotel you get. It does not have the beautiful clear water in the TV commercials. It is located on the north side with darker water and less of a beach, very disappointed! We ran into some friends while shopping and luckily they invited us to their hotel, which was the "real Cancun," what a difference a location makes.

Wonderful First Experience in Cancun

An amazing experience at this hotel. This was our first time in Cancun and we were not disappointed.Personal experiences with hotel staff - Oscar, Lief, Natalia to name a few were all positive. They went out of our their way to make us feel comfortable and help us plan activities and transportation. On the Isla Mujeres tour the crew of the Tahiti were fantastic as well. Elias and Miguel made us feel at home on and off the boat. Elias helped us find a nice local sandwich place on the island as well. I also had a mishap where I stubbed my toe on a rock and received very good medical attention from Miguel. Plus our tour to Chichen Itza was incredible. My daughter and I have always wanted to see it and our tour guides (Freddy & Tony) provided a great tour and history of the ruins as well. Thanks so much to everyone for this positive experience. I highly recommend that others try this resort/area.
