Our Opinion

A really solid place for those who are looking for a decent place to stay that has good service and good value. Good food options for both buffets and a la carte restaurants. However, this isn't the resorts strongest selling point. This resort is great for both families and couples alike. There are plenty of activities for both types of travelers to partake in. For those wanting to partake in the party scene, the main Cancun strip is only a few minutes taxi ride. This is a really great budget friendly option for those wanting to get away and experience rest and relaxation in Cancun!

You get what you pay for!

Came here with the partner for five days, almost ten years after coming here for the first time with my family. And it was like nothing had changed. But my experience vastly different. Our first day, we missed our flight connection due to our first fight being delayed....so we arrived AFTER the hotel shuttle stopped coming to the airport, so we had to pay even more money for the Super Shuttle. Let's just say it was a pretty crappy start to our trip. Thankfully, we still got some food and alcohol at the resort before heading to bed. We were lucky to get some good weather during our entire stay. Only had a bit of rain one day. October is one of the rainiest months in Cancun so that was our luck we got so much sunshine. Otherwise we enjoyed the beach and the pool loads. Seeing as it was early October, there were not that many people crowding the resort so finding a nice shaded spot at the pool or beach was easy. They had nice shaded lounge beach chairs on the beach for guests. The fitness center was decent ($6 for non members, but thankfully we were). Unlimited drinks was ABSOLUTELY THE BOMB. And they had some good liquor choices! Including Jack Daniels, Captain Morgan, Bailey's and Kahlua. Those were my go-to for sure. For the beer, all I saw was XX on tap which I tried once and was like no thanks. My partner's favorite drink was the strawberry daiquiri. We also had sex on the beach and long island ice teas plenty of times. I just loved how the unlimited drink options were actually very good. As for the food, it was very meh. It was nice to know they had options around the clock essentially, but the choices and quality were very basic/poor. For breakfast they had a omelette bar which I took great advantage of. Two nights in a row, we made reservations at the Italian restaurant (which should have been a luxury but was not). The salad bar and desserts were good, but the meals ranged from okay to barely edible (DO NOT get the ribeye - how can a steak cooked medium rare be THAT chewy). As for the rooms, first three nights we stayed in a 6 person room and the last night we stayed in a studio (for two). Surprisingly the latter was MUCH nicer and better quality. We didn't make use of the resort activities except for movie night our last night when they showed The Mummy. That was cool. They set up a screen outside at the adult pool. It was a lovely set up.Overall my partner and I had a great time! We chose not to leave the resort except to go to the Isla shopping mall across the street for souvenirs and Ice cream (the resort served NO ice cream ever. Huge disappointment). We really just wanted to relax us two, by the beach, sipping on our drinksNext time we'll try to make use of the excursions. oh and probably go to their sister hotel the Grand Park Royal down the road. Park Royal was cheap and you got your money's worth, but if you value quality above all else, you might have to check out another resort. But till then....

Home Away from Home

Just returned from 10 days in Cancun at the Park Royal. We had some issues with room cleaning and no hot water for 24 hours but overall it was our usual excellent stay. We have stayed there so many times the staff remembers us which is really special. We can not say enough about the host Eduardo at El Mirador for great service and Erick our waiter who went overboard to meet our needs. We also enjoyed all the special service Alphonso provided us in the buffet restaurant. He is a fine gentlemen! Mario, Manuel, Jorge, Benjamin, Martin and Arturo were exceptional bartenders who go above and beyond with their service for us! We will return again in April to our home away from home!

Good place to stay in Cancun

I’m a Royal Holiday member. Overall it was a good stay. The service was very good! If you are a member you can arrange transportation from the airport for $8 US per person. There is a really nice fitness center with a good variety of equipment. There are 3 pools ( 1 adult, one for kids and one mixed). There are two restaurants (one buffet and one Italian) and one pool side snack bar. Easy access to the beach, with lounge chairs and palapas. The beach is very clean. There is also a place on site where you can book excursions, but if you want to save money I would suggest booking online beforehand. I booked online before and had a great excursion to Chichen Itza! There are a few reasons why I can’t give 5 stars. My stay was 10/2017 and the resort is undergoing major remodel construction which I wasn’t notified at time of booking. I found out when I arrived at the resort. It would’ve been nice to know that ahead of time. I was in communication with the resort as to my arrival time, but when I arrived there was no one at the member desk to check me in (at 5pm, check in starts at 3pm). This resulted in having to figure out where everything was on my own and I had to keep going back to the lobby for things I should’ve received upon check in, ie towel cards. The A/C in the common areas and dining areas is severely lacking. As a member, there is a member center for me to be able to relax in and enjoy, but it was hotter in there than outside. I almost never saw anyone using this member perk. However the A/C in my room worked amazing, but I wasn’t there to spend all day in my room.

Our stay

Wonderful time. Royal Holiday people were great. Loved the new lounge chairs at upper pool. Did not care for the birds at upper pool area and restaurant. I would encourage the hotel post signs not to ffeed the birds.

Bad experience!

We visited this all inclusive resort for our friends birthday and did not have the best time. The first night we got in it was raining which is fine but the rooms were flooded because of the rain water coming through the glass doors, the same thing happened the next night as well. So basically for the first two nights we had rai water in our room. The term all-inclusive does not necessarily mean everything is included at this place. They charge for the gym, they charge to weigh your bags. Also in any inclusive resort I've stayed in they've stocked the fridge with beer and snacks at this inclusive they only stock water and anything else you want as far as snacks or drinks you have to buy. Also, if you want a late check-out they charge you $40 extra an hour. The food is very bland and only have one restaurant... which also is not very good. The only good thing is that the staff at the restaurant are are very friendly.
