Our Opinion

A really solid place for those who are looking for a decent place to stay that has good service and good value. Good food options for both buffets and a la carte restaurants. However, this isn't the resorts strongest selling point. This resort is great for both families and couples alike. There are plenty of activities for both types of travelers to partake in. For those wanting to partake in the party scene, the main Cancun strip is only a few minutes taxi ride. This is a really great budget friendly option for those wanting to get away and experience rest and relaxation in Cancun!

Wouldn't stay with a park royal hotel again, nor would i recommend.

the Locations and being directly on the beach is perfect, also having an adult only area is also a bonus.I wouldn't come back to be honest, every single morning we had extremely loud drilling on our wall which woke up us, i called the receptionist who was helpless, i asked for the manager to come see didnt even come, called back still nothing. This was appalling to say the least, this is a holiday no one wants to wake up early especially from loud drilling and banging, so disappointed in the hotel for not getting back to us. Don't book or sell a room if you have construction on.

"SMALL PIECE OF PARADISE...EVERYTHING WAS CLOSE BY"

This is a long over due review, me and my wife went to the Park Royal Cancun on July 2017 and had a pleasant experience overall. After seeing other reviews in detail I see people complained regarding the room size, room shower, room bathroom..etc. It seems to me that a lot of people had problems with the rooms. Well, if you go to Cancun to stay in a room and complaint about the shower, the size of the room and other room stuff I guess we have a very different view of what a vacation should be. The hotel is really close to the airport, so if you get to the Cancun airport early you will be in the hotel right after your arrival. The check in process is just like any other hotel (YOUR ROOM WILL NOT BE READY UNTIL 3:00 PM) so what do you do...you check in, you change and put on your beach/pool attire (They have a good size bathroom at the lobby where you can change), you leave the bags at the lobby, you let then snap on your wrist the all inclusive bracelet and go and have fun at the pool or the beach or if you are hungry go ahead and enjoy the food at the restaurant, until your room is ready and then if you feel like going up to your room (Which I doubt it) you can go ahead and "Enjoy" your room with a full belly and a tan. Everything in this hotel is close by, the beach which is beautiful is within 2 to 3 minutes walking distance, the pool is right up the stairs from the lobby as well as the restaurant, the kids zone right next to the pool. Within walking distance (10 minutes tops) right outside the hotel there is a really nice mall (LA ISLA) where you can find a lot of stores, outdoor activities retailer kiosks, and a bunch of restaurant right next to the Riviera with a really nice view. We went as a "Royal Holliday Vacation Club" guests, and the experience was good overall, the Royal Holliday staff at the lobby (ZAC-NICTE, JAMIN, ROCIO DE LEON AND MAURICIO) were very helpful, very nice and very diligent with the entire process, as well as letting us know where everything in the hotel was located. The Hotel has a "HIGH END" restaurant that serves dinner, if you wish to have dinner you will have to reserve personally (No phone call) at the lobby with the concierge on a daily basis, the restaurant has a dress code and the ambient is really nice, they usually have live music and if you are lucky and make the reservation by sunset the views by the window are beautiful, food is good and definitely different than the all inclusive buffet. The buffet has the typical Cancun Resort menu, everything is fresh and works flawlessly, the staff is really nice and efficient at the restaurant (Accommodating you, having food available, cooking for the patrons, serving water and drinks in general), in general we didn't have any problems at the all inclusive buffet. The staff in general were really nice, house keeping was always available and ready to help. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and diligent as well. The Royal Holliday staff were very nice and helpful, our overall experience was nice and pleasant as I mentioned before. In conclusion, this is a small hotel in comparison with the monsters you get to see in the Riviera Maya, but the fact that the beach was within 2 to 3 minutes walk from the main building and us being Beach/sun/tan lovers made our time way more enjoyable at the beach than the "GRAND" hotels where we have been, and as I said before everything was close by and that is something we enjoyed a lot in this experience. I will definitely will come back to this hotel for a short vacation in order to disconnect from everybody and everything. "EL MEJO"

Avoid at all costs, please!

We booked less than 30 days before our trip for the holiday season, which is the busiest travel time. So obviously weren't expecting anything great. Despite of low expectations, we were still pretty unhappy with the hotel. Check-in was slow, the check-in clerk was not interested and it was obvious that he was unhappy about us checking in. After waiting forever, first he said our reservation is not there. Then he found it but was not interested in discussing or telling us anything about the hotel. Looked like a favor to us that we were being given a room (mind it, it wasn't an early check-in or anything of that sorts). The room was nothing exceptional, terrible bathroom where the water leaked from the shower on the floor anytime you shower, really bad quality shower curtain like the ones from dollar store and icing on top broken toilet seat! You expect fresh toiletries upon checking in but we got a quarter full shampoo bottle. Very soon we realized housekeeping wasn't keen on replenishing anything. Sometimes they would leave no towels at all. Upon asking, none of them understood English so it was almost impossible to communicate. They provide 2 water bottles per day, and we ended up buying water. No room service is included and you cannot bring food from restaurant in your room.Construction was going on and the lift that took the workers and material was right outside out window, work started at around 7-8 am and was very noisy. Had to keep our curtains closed for privacy as they would be looking in as they went up and down all through the day!Now coming to the food, worst food ever. Only one restaurant, they serve practically the same food everyday, that too not tasty, nothing really fancy or memorable. I am a vegetarian and this was the biggest horror show of my life. We went outside to eat a few times to stay alive. You cannot take your food outside to eat if you want to enjoy the outdoors. I tried taking something outside one evening to have with a drink and was stopped in a way that I was a criminal! There is no ocean view from the restaurant. The other Italian restaurant opens only for dinner and you need reservations. The pictures that show ocean view is from the restaurant. Note kids under 12 aren't allowed there. Snacks were very mediocre, no french fries and no ice cream! We have stayed at many all inclusive resorts and this was by far the worst. Restaurant staff was good for most part, drinks typical of all inclusive and bar tenders were friendly. The only good thing is the beach is gorgeous and we never had to struggle to find loungers. The timeshare people tried to talk to us several times but we knew we weren't interested so avoided them.Evening programs (karaoke and likes) in the lobby were all in Spanish, wish they clarified it was a resort for only Spanish speaking people! Anyways they weren't anything fancy so we were OK missing out.You have to pay to use the gym too! I have seen them post similar comment to all negative reviews and it makes me laugh because that is what they will do to mine! I AM NEVER COMING BACK TO YOUR RESORT AND WOULD REQUEST ALL TRAVELERS TO REALLY AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS!!

One and DONE!

This is a place you go once and never return!I've read the reviews and thought that some reviews were unfair and overly critical. I thought the overall 70% satisfaction was ok for an all-inclusive. My family will not return to this resort.Let me start by sharing what we loved about this place. The entertainment/pool staff were great. Denise, Gustavo, and Miguel were just awesome! They worked hard to entertain everyone. I especially loved the NYE celebration... a Mexican celebration! The poolside bar was great too. Leonardo and the crew were amazing. They were attentive and helpful. The buffet staff could not bet better. Miguel, Juan, Felix, Freddie (I know I'm missing people) were so helpful and accommodating. They made you feel like you were in a 5 star resort. Sodas, cappuccino, and other drinks were cheerfully served... we really loved the buffet staff and entertainment/pool staff! Some things that were disappointing... The front desk was not incredibly helpful. Although Esau was generous when we checked out not to clip off our bands so we can enjoy lunch before flying out.Eduarado in the Italian restaurant was simply rude and condescending. He was truly the only rude staff member that we encountered in the resort. I read a review about the buffet and how bland the food would be... I thought we could do it., however, I was wrong... it was hard to do. I will never stay at an all-inclusive with one restaurant. The whole no kid at the Italian restaurant is just a dumb rule!We were never bothered by sales people... although coming in late (at 10PM) was probably helpful. I did learn to walk through the halls/lobby w/o giving a whole lot of eye-contact for fear of a sale's pitch. In the end... the beach was great, the pool was super fun, the activities were fun too! The location is great and the mall across the street was a great place to get a change of scenery. We won't go back... too many other choices around. It was fun... but returning is not in the cards. Park Royal you have a lot of work to make this a frequent stop for guests (even members shared with me their disappointment with the Cancun property.)My advice to someone reading this review... go somewhere else!

Lots of issues with this hotel, but people were great

I was here during the week after Christmas. Let me start by saying that I had an overall OK experience, but there were A LOT of issues. The construction was terrible and there was soooo much noise! Luckily, Esau Medina at the front desk was able to help us. He was tremendously kind and really helpful. Just very patient and polite and had nothing but good vibes for my family. On the other hand, the bathroom had cockroaches, the food was pretty bad (very generic buffet food, almost no flavor, gave me diarrhea), there was no room service, the noise from the construction was terrible, Internet was REALLY TERRIBLE (like, atrociously bad!), and the front desk people took forever to answer the phone whenever calling them from the room (took more than 5 minutes waiting for them to pick up on one occasion, what would happen in the case of an emergency?!?!). Definitely not a 4-star resort Maybe 2-star. For a 2-star resort, that would be OK. But we came with a 4-star resort in mind. Again, the best part of this resort is the people working there. Esau and the rest of the team are just great and they made our stay good by sharing positive vibes and taking care of our concerns. Juan helped us move our bags to a new room and also thee bar tenders in the lobby area were super friendly and attentive. Thankful I got to enjoy the beach (Awesome, awesome beach here) and it was GREAT being close to La Isla (very convenient). Thanks Esau and the rest of the team! I am not sure if I will come back, but I enjoyed it, even with all the difficulties.
