Our Opinion

Top of the line, beautiful hotel! The Riu Palace Las Americas is near the top of the list for 5 star resorts in Cancun. Great food, service and entertainment. Champagne for breakfast! Rooms are all junior suites and are very nicely finished. The beach area is a bit small, but they make up for it with two great infinity pools. Now an adults-only resort, this is a definite recommend for couples.

The RIU Palace Las Americas overwhelms the expectations of RIU tradition - luxury and style, exquisitely beautiful Spanish design and decor, complimented by incomparable service. Located right beside the incredible RIU Cancun, spoil yourself to an outstanding adults-only vacation escape of fabulous dining and lively entertainment. The RIU Palace Las Americas - pure class at its best!

Location: Beachfront on Cancun's exclusive Caracol Beach in the popular hotel zone, right across from Plaza Caracol shopping mall and beside the RIU Cancun, 10 minutes to downtown, 20 minutes from the airport.

Wanted to give a higher rating but the management ruined it for this hotel.

Let me just start by saying the wait staff and bartenders at this hotel where phenomenal. Friendly, quick, and hard working, they were the best part of this hotel. The drinks were great. The weather was great. The hotel is pretty and the beach is gorgeous. All of my issues were directly with management and maintenance.Which room should I tell you about? The FIVE different rooms I tried to check in to, including the one that was ALREADY OCCUPIED (If you stayed in room 107 on December 3, 2017, please know that me and my guest had unauthorized access to your hotel room)? How about the upgrade I was offered upon check in, but was rescinded as I was on the way to the elevator? Or the one that had gross stained sheets? Or the one that smelled like a disgusting ashtray? Or the one that I was stuck with for an entire WEEK with a broken door lock that required maintenance to let me in six different times? The random pieces of broken glass that I stepped on?Should I tell you about the gross neglect from the management staff at the front desk? Every time I had to be let into my hotel room, we had to come BACK downstairs, have management call maintenance, have maintenance reset the lock, and THEN we could enter the room, about 40 minutes later each time. It got to the point where the management staff would ignore us, refuse to help, and roll their eyes at us ALL for just trying to get into our hotel room. Since checking into the hotel room that I paid for is apparently too much to ask. FINALLY after a week of wasting my time at the front desk, maintenance changed the lock batteries and fixed the door on our last night. The maintenance man left the old batteries on the floor, didn't even clean them up. After we had waited so long that we missed our dinner reservations ON MY BIRTHDAY. We were also told there was nothing the wait staff could do in terms of honoring our reservations, so we had to go to another restaurant. This employee needs to be singled out - DOMINGO. Completely racist, rude, and not helpful. When trying to locate maintenance AGAIN to let us into the broken door lock, he literally put his hand in my face and said 'I am done with you, what do you want now?'The jacuzzi/hot tub was cold on two separate occasions, I alerted the spa employee and she did not care and did not try to fix the problem. The hotel was out of beach/pool towels on the last two days. I was told "no more laundry today, sorry lady." So we had to use our hotel room towels. Getting new ones to shower with was an entire other drama that I don't want to get into. The coffee machine in Lounge 24 was broken on two separate occasions. The printer in Lounge 24 had no paper, and the WiFi wasn't working. I went up to ask for paper, and again had to deal with Domingo rolling his eyes and being annoyed with me. Another guest came up to ask for printer paper, and he was friendly and handed her some right away and then glanced over at me and shrugged.Had we not had all the drama with the hotel room and maintenance, this would have been an awesome stay. The Black and White Steakhouse was the best food, except the overcooked and rubbery lobster. Filet was great. Honestly all the food and drinks are delicious. Buffet had an awesome selection every day. Food and drinks get 5 stars!

Simply Beautiful and Relaxing

We had not been to Cancún in many years and this was an excellent choice for our return!! This has to be one of the most beautiful places I've stayed. Service and staff were excellent. It's all inclusive adults only which is nice. I reserved the romance dinner with the private service and proposed to my wife !! I would recommend this just for the surprise factor. You get private table by the pool with champagne and your own waitress. And you room gets decorated with champagne chocolate strawberries and roses!!!I'll attach some pictures Can't wait to return to Cancun and visit the other hotel RIU Palace Pennisula just close by.

Totally Amazing Hotel

We stayed here for a week in July as our son was getting married next door in the other Rui hotel. From the moment we arrived we were blown away, the room was fabulous we had a sea view and it was worth it...very comfy bed & pillows..so many restaurants to choose from, but we loved the main dining area as the choice was unbelivable, there was nothing you could want for. Staff were great waited on you around the pool & on the beach, they do like tips but nothing over the top...you could eat 24/7 as there was always a eatery by reception that was constantly on the go...drinks fantastic we loved the frozen pino calada's... all in all a fantastic hotel we love to go back.Avoid next door it is like Blackpool in the sun!!!

Excellent vacation

We've been to different Rui but this one is exceptional compared to the others. From the minute we arrived, champagne welcome drink and Ernesto at reception made out check in a breeze. A plus for staff, food, beach , cleanliness. Our room was cleaned and towels changed twice a day. The buffet was amazing but we choose to eat at the different a la carte restaurants. Looking forward in returning soon.

Never Fails to Amaze Me

My husband I just returned from our third trip to Cancun, and every time we have stayed at this resort. This will be the first time we have stayed since the updates and the transformation to adults only, and I have never been more impressed. We were welcomed with a glass of champagne, and the friendly staff. The restaurants are amazing, and even more convenient that you don't need a reservation. (Be sure to try Black & White and Krystal). The buffets are what you would expect, nothing fancy, but you'll always find something to eat. There isn't a lot of entertainment after 10pm at this resort, but with your wrist band you're able to go next door to their sister hotel's sports bar or night club, which are very nice. The pools are refreshing, just make sure to grab your chair early - you can leave your towel and belongings and no one will bother them; The staff is extremely friendly and you'll never want anything; The rooms are clean, and the mini bar stocked every day. I just wish the beds were a little more comfortable, but I'm not traveling to Cancun to sleep the entire time so it was not that big of a deal. Keep in mind that you're in Mexico, so the rooms do get a little humid. Make sure to leave your A/C on - it turns off when you open the patio doors. If you can, book an ocean view junior suite. The views are breath taking! Thank you, Riu, for another amazing stay. We are already looking forward to our next trip!
