Our Opinion

Top of the line, beautiful hotel! The Riu Palace Las Americas is near the top of the list for 5 star resorts in Cancun. Great food, service and entertainment. Champagne for breakfast! Rooms are all junior suites and are very nicely finished. The beach area is a bit small, but they make up for it with two great infinity pools. A definite recommend for couples and families.

Amazing experience.

Everything was amazing. It little changed since 2015 due to renovations but still very good. The evening shows is all the time the same it was meh. Kitchen is delicious. All restaurants except sushi was a blast. They added bathrooms gowns in rooms and need to give slippers , because floor is very cold. Great 2nd vacation here ever. And I think we coming back again.

Great property / best location in Cancun

Overall clean property with something for everyone. Great location on the beach with access to other RIU properties. Several restaurant options to choose from which werent too busy. All inclusive was the way to go. Went on night club trips arranged by the hotel and had a great time. Adults only was nice.

Not worth the money

I booked this resort for myself and two of my friends for a winter getaway. We specifically wanted an all-adult all-inclusive resort on the beach hoping we would receive better service and have more age-appropriate entertainment options. We had also heard that the resort had been renovated summer of 2016 and it had great reviews.Pros: The beach was white limestone sand and the water was crystal clear. By far the best beach out of the surrounding resorts we walked to. There are also several docks and underwater barriers that attract all kinds of beautiful fish for snorkeling. The newly renovated grounds and exterior were very attractive.Cons: I have been to many all-inclusive resorts and even several Riu's and this one was by far the most disappointing. We even went over our budget thinking it would be worth it. Food: The food was almost inedible. We tried almost all of the restaurants and buffet options and mostly stuck with the chips and guacamole. I would say it was definitely below average as far as quality. Entertainment/service: I also felt that the staff did the bare minimum as far as service and entertainment. They most certainly did not go out of their way to help or serve you drinks and food pool or beach side. The entertainment was so horrible every night that people either didn't show or walked out. Rooms: We expected 2 full or queen-sized beds and a pull out couch for the 3 of us traveling together. The two beds were combined and when we went to pull out the bed in the couch, rust and crust came off of the frame and mattress. Needless to say, we did not use the couch! All 3 of us slept in the big bed for 5 nights, which was roomy, but very uncomfortable bedding. After seeing the couch quality we were afraid what our mattresses looked like. Obviously the rooms were not included in the renovation, as confirmed by several other fellow guests.Pools: There are 3 pools. The largest in the middle did not receive sun for a good portion of the day, so was not often busy. The pool with the swim-up bar was the most used, but was not very large and the pool entertainment was juvenile and hardly anyone participated. The third pool looked like it should be a large hot tub, but was cold and I never once saw anyone in it. We were also told that during the renovation, they removed the outdoor Jacuzzi and only had the two small ones inside of the spa, which were indoors with no view and the pumps were broken so neither were hot. One day we started to get in the lukewarm water and saw chunks of something white floating and immediately got out.I was almost embarrassed that this was the first all-inclusive experience for both of my friends. They never want to go to another all-inclusive resort now. Definitely not worth the money!

Excellent hotel and staff was incredible. We ate at 2 of the restaurants and the buffet. All the food was great. At the buffet the chefs would make fresh food to your liking. The selection at all 3 meals was incredible.we had 2 downfalls..the pool was only open from 10-6. Not sure if that was only because its February or if that was all the time. The second is that they state snorkel kayak rental is included but it turns out that is only for an hour a day. After that its $5.00 an hour which is a rip off...so if u want to snorkel bring your own. We didnt see a lot of fish but did come across a small stingray. Saw about 5 diffent fish alongside the pier but thats it even out further along the rocks.all in all fantastic place ..drinks a little weak so we just requested double shots and they were perfect. The serving staff hustle....please remember to give gracious tips as thats basically what they make.We loved the fact it's adults only.if possible get ocean view with balciny...however you really dont sp3nd a lot of time in room but definately get balcony.they have entertainment/events nightly...beach party at night was fun

Relaxing beach vacation

This is a beautiful hotel. The rooms were clean and the property was constantly being maintained. The only downfall was a terrible musky smell in the lobby. When you went outside and walked in it was very strong. The room had an odor also but not as bad as the lobby. The food was good, except the Italian restaurant. It is an all inclusive, adult only report and the resort next door is also a Riu and you can use your bracelet there for drinks as well. We were able to walk to the shops, bars and clubs.
