Our Opinion

An outstanding hotel to visit when you're in Cancun. Compared to the other resorts, the Riu Palace Peninsula is a bit larger than other resorts that you would find along the hotel zone. Great a la carte and buffet items to choose from here. The variety of food here is incredible. It can be guaranteed that you'll never experience the same thing twice when dining in a restaurant. Compared to most other all-inclusive resorts, the quality of food here is good. The resort grounds are always clean and well-maintained. While the majority of the rooms are pretty good, the special suites have a tendency to be cramped. They may offer extra perks such as an in-suite jacuzzi. The pools are what this resort is notable for. Regardless of your age, there is a pool atmosphere here that is appropriate for you. While the staff remain attentive and try their best to accomodate to your needs, be advised that the check-in process can be relatively lengthy.

Overview

Riu Palace Peninsula is located next to the Riu Caribe on a dazzling stretch of white sand beach, framed by tropical vegetation and crystal clear turquoise water. This Riu Palace luxury resort features seven specialty restaurants with wonderful cuisine ranging from Japanese to Italian to Mexican, six bars, water sports, two freshwater pools (one heated in the winter and the second with a Jacuzzi and swim-up bar) daily entertainment and an on-site Mayan ruin discovered during the hotel construction.

The spacious and luxurious guestrooms include predominantly white decor with vibrant accents as well as signature RIU amenities, including the famous Riu liquor dispenser. Soak in hydro massage tubs large enough for two and admire the spectacular views from your private balcony. Revel in a variety of land and water sports as well as fun activities. The RiuLand Kids Club will keep children entertained with supervised games, while the new RiuArt program will help you discover your inner artist. For an extra treat, indulge in pampering treatments at the Renova Spa.

Location: Beachfront in Cancun's hotel zone, 10 min to downtown, 45 min from the airport.

An amazing place

It's and amazing hotel. Everything is perfect, the food si delicious, the service is great, in general all the hotel. The staff do a lot of fun things, and they invite all the guests so you can always feel included, they have beach volleyball, football, zumba, at night for example they did a beach party which it was a lot of fun. It's a great place to visit either with friends or family, they have several pools that are separated, so you can be in an adult pool or you can be in the pool with your kids.

Lost a bit of its magic

2nd time we have been here. First time was magical, hence the reason for returning only after 18 months. But not all as good a second time around. Firstly no double rooms available when we got here after 10 hour flight (we did book a double room at time of booking)Put in a twin room for 24 hours so we couldn't unpack as we were on the move at some point ?Was told to drop key off next day before 11 and by 3 something will be available? Spoke with manager and made sure i was not happy so he rushed things on a bit,2 rooms down and 3 fridges later.Yip the first rooms fridges didn't workThe 2nd room had the fridge changed twice before we could have cold water to drink. Now we are into day 4 before fridge issue was sorted.Over the full 2 weeks our fridge was replenished twice .Once i had to phone to front desk for water and i aint lying when i say it took 3 hours and 4 phone calls for them to send some water.2nd time i was lucky to catch the guy who replenishes going into lift with his trolley so managed to grab some water from him. This is meant to be replenished daily ?.I know you don't go on holiday to watch tv but when you have a break from the sun you expect something on to watch or have it on in back ground ? Tv channels are horrendous for english speaking guests.I found 1 Chanel 50% english speaking movies and a cpl of news channels from usa thats your lot.Pool side is still good and well looked after there and in Buffett hall.Cleaning staff still greatBut sadly this aint the same quality as it was sept 2015

We took our honeymoon There

I love Riu family if resorts. This resort I believe is one of their newest locations. The amenities are top notch with all beautiful suites. We did go at the end of the hurricane season so beware of the rain. It came every day. The entertainment staff is excellent. The food is great. You Can visit other resorts and take advantage of other places. A little more expensive but worth it if You want a 4+ star resort.

Vacation

My partner and I stayed at this hotel from May 14th through the 20th in the adult villa section. We arrived around 12:00 and were promptly greated and given champagne. Check in is at 3:00, however they had a room available which was fantastic as we wanted to freshen up and get in our bathing suits. The room was fairly basic, it had a cheap feel to it, laminated white furniture. We loved being on the first floor right near the bar cart. The private villa pool was warm and best of all clean! As with all, all-inclusive resorts, the food was of poor quality as was the alcohol. We ate only once at the villa restaurant and it was awful! I am a foodie and like to eat good food, with that said I don't go on vacation to eat. We did venture out to two restaurants the first was an Italian called Trattoria Limoncello and the second was La Perilla and both were excellent! The hotel and grounds were immaculate! Stay away from the pools, they are gross and stink, with the exception of the villa pool! These people are such hard workers! Please make sure you tip them and make certain you are patient with them, you are in their country.I need to give kudos to Rodolfo, he's the bartender at the Tobago bar, he is an asset to RIU!!After staying at the RIU Las Americas, I was expecting the same level of service, this place fell short, if your thinking of booking here, look at the Las Americas you will not be dissatisfied! This hotel came up short, however we did have an enjoyable time.

Wonderful being back at Riu Palace Peninsula!

This was our third stay here, and we had another wonderful time. The property is beautiful, and they keep it immaculately clean. I can't say enough good things about the staff! When I called the front desk to ask for anything, it was taken care of right away (usually extra towels), and everyone there is so friendly and helpful! When we arrived (and we hadn't been there in a year), the bellmen remembered us and made us feel so welcomed. Special recognition on the bellman staff to Fernando, Freddie, Hector, and Alex, among others who also were great. These four gentlemen remembered us from our last two visits, and it was great to see them still there. Also, a special thank you to Fernando in the restaurant, who helped us out on Friday night. We had the pleasure and privilege of visiting with the hotel General Manager, Mr. Ponnet. Mr. Ponnet, your hotel is wonderful! We will recommend it to all of our friends!
