Our Opinion

The Royal Solaris Cancun is a great place to stay for both families and couples alike. While the atmosphere caters more to couples, the resort has an amazing kids club that is perfect for families. There are decent a la cart and buffet items to choose from at this resort. The grounds are well maintained. While the rooms appear older than what you'd experience at an all-inclusive, they are still well maintained. The gym area though does need a little bit of an upgrade. Great staff here. They ensure that you're getting the most out of your trip. Be advised that this resort does not offer free Wi-Fi.

Royal Solaris

They have no internet, but drinks were amazing. Half the staff was friendly, and the rest didn't speak English at all. The pools are amazing & ocean is at a great location! The building is getting old & they were drilling & doing construction the whole time we were there. Some ceiling were leaking, but we had a great balcony & view of the ocean so we didn't mind the rest. Overall, it's an average experience. Average 2-3 star hotel.

So and So

Overall, our visit was okay but there are some things Royal Solaris needs to change to actually make it a 5 STAR experience. It was our first visit to Cancun and I thought it was going to be better. Hopefully, there are changes.

The hotel is very dated and needs to be remodeled-food not that great.

I was there from July 4-12, 2017, with a party of 17 relatives with young adults 14-24 years of age. I'm going to offer a very honest opinion based on my travels and the fact that I have stayed in several dozen resorts in Mexico, Jamaica, and the Bahamas. This property really needs to be remodeled and I would not pay what I paid per person to back to this property. The bathrooms look like they are 30+ years old. Cracked tiles, missing grout, leaking faucets. My family and I were not impressed with the overall condition of the property. The food was also an issue because they served the same food everyday of the week except on Monday they did changed it for one day. It wouldn't be an issue because they have two other restaurants but the Marco Polo was a hassle to make reservations. We were only able to get reservations 2 out if the 7 days we tried. This is after we were at the reservations desk early the morning of. It's very small and it doesn't accommodate too many people. The other restaurant Rosmarinus is manly for time share members but we were able to eat there 2 times in the evening. But again they were serving the same foods as Las Fuentes which is their buffet. Over all it was disappointing with the quality of the food and lack of restaurants. During the evening there us nothing for young adults to do in the resort they have to travel to Cancun in order to do things. They should have comedians or a band playing past 11pm. Everything ends at 11pm. Again, my family and I were dissatisfied with the entertainment. Even the ones at 8:30 were just okay. I was not that impressed with their shows. I ordered a drink from the lobby bar and it was horrible so I took it back and order a different one. It was the same the staff at this bar didn't know what they were doing. We ended up staying seated at Las Fuentes and ordered the drinks there which I was told came from different bartenders in the restaurant. They were awesome and we did that every night. That's the only positive thing I have to say about the drinks. The staff at the property were really nice but I didn't care too much that they expected to get tips just fir working there. I'm used to going to all inclusive and only tipping for service that is beyond standard. Like we tipped the waiters one of the two nights we had dinner sat Marco Polo because he was very attentive to our needs and we never had to flag him down for anything. We also tipped at the buffet restaurant because again the waiter was very good and attentive. Over all the family gave this property a 2 out of 5 for all the stuff mentioned above. This is one property I cannot recommend. Cancun has lots of choices and I will not be coming back to this facility any time soon. My son heard from a friend days after we got back that one if the restaurants floor had collapsed.

It was ok...

For the most part the hotel was fine, but as with my other stay in an all inclusive Cancun, I expected more. The rooms were fine, the facilities were fine, the beach and location was beautiful. The service- the bar and restaurant staff are fantastic, but as with the place in playa car, the reception and concierge don't seem to represent the brand well and not overly helpful. As I said, just would have expected more for what your paying...
