Our Opinion

Amazing resort to stay at in Cancun. The beach around this area is spectacular. However, be advised that the waves have a tendency to be really choppy and strong. It isn't advisable to swim around this area. Overall though the location of this resort is great. It's within close vicinity of the downtown core where there are shops and restaurants close by. The service in this resort varied. While the staff within the resort property are proactive in ensuring that you are getting what you need, the staff outside are not as attentive with their guests (although they still assist you, the service outside is a bit slower). The food options here are great. Both a la cartes and buffet items had a great variety.

Fabulous!

What can I say about this hotel than everything was just perfect! Upon our arrival, we were greeted with champagne and wet towel to freshen up. Some people got roses, I did not but that did not bother me at all. Perhaps they had just run out. Seemless check in. We were brought to our room, 431, which was absolutely great! View of the pools and the ocean. No balcony but we are only there to sleep and change anyways. There is a mini bar that is filled everyday and also snacks that they replenish after use. You have free Wi-fi, in your room, across the hotel, at the pools and if you're lucky, even at the beach. Restaurants: The buffet is not a huge one but the quality of the food is very good.I read people complaining that there is no bacon, no omelet stations and no sausages. Every morning I found bacon, as for the omelet, you have to ask at the counter and they make one for you with whatever you want in it. As for the sausages, please keep in mind that you are not at home and that there is a huge possibility of not having everything you like just like home. You are in a foreign country, please keep an open mind. All of the a la carte restaurants(except for one) did not need reservations which was great! Lots of time saved there. We went to the Japanese restaurant (reservations needed) twice. The food there was also very tasty. We also went to the steakhouse, Season's, I had the pork and it was very good. Fratinis, italian restaurant was delicious. We ate too much there and had to go to bed after that. LOL A couple of times the buffet was closed as they moved it to bar two where you could eat outside.Bars: we spent most of our time at Bar One at night as this is where most of the action is unless they have something going on at bar two. They had nice shows to present and they were quite enjoyable. We loved Veronica at bar one, she did a great job of serving us.Pools: There are three pools that are all nice but only the one close the the beach is heated. The pools are shaded in at around 1:00 everyday because of the huge hotel next door blocking the sun. It was OK for me cause it gets really hot in the sun after a while,Beach: The week we were there we had red flags every day because of the waves. You are still allowed to go in the ocean but have to take precautions as the undertow could take you down. I actually loved the waves. The beach is nice to walk on. You don't burn your feet on the sand. The St-Trop restaurant comes to serve you drinks and food at your chair which is very nice. Service is quite fast too.You can take a local bus and go to Market 28 for $1 USD per person each way. You have to really bargain your prices otherwise they will try and get you for the maximum price.Would I return again? For sure.

Wonderful Resort

We are staying at this resort right now and I can say that this resort is very clean, all the landscaping and pathways, gardens, colors are wonderful, easy resort to navigate and the staff is super friendly and helpful. We are a family of 6 with (2) 17yr olds, (2) 21yr olds and we are 45+ and there is something to do for everyone. The buffet seems to be well thought out (could be a little warmer) and lots of variety, the a la carte restaurants are great and no big line-ups or wait time. There are multiple pools and the one is very warm, obviously heated. The beach is amazing, gorgeous sand and some good wave action if you want it, as with most resorts they could use more chairs at the beach, if you are not down there before 8:45am you will be SOL. We have stayed in the Mayan and Cancun close to a dozen times, this is right up there near the top of the list. Very easy check in, rooms were ready by 1:45 and they are very clean and modern. Wifi worked great in the room and around the pool, kids were able to watch netflix at night.

Trip of a life time....can i say more?

We was so amazed when we showed up to find they gave us the room we requested high up on ocean side........what a view we had over looking the pools and the ocean. The staff was so friendly especially Veronica Chavez and a young man on the beach named Jacet. We used the spa and really enjoyed the massages!Just want too thank Sandos for such a great trip and hopefully be back next year!PS: Only negative was that I gained 10 lbs in 9 days from all the great food and drink choices we had!

Enjoyable to an extent

There are great things and a couple of okay things for this resort. We booked a six night stay and had a deluxe room. Sandos is intimate and has an upscale feel. If you like quiet and aren't looking for a party environment, this is a nice choice. 20 minutes from the airport and safe area.Great aspects: the beach area is phenomenal. Clean sand. Nice walking up or down hotel row. It doesn't take long to arrive from your room. There are plenty of chairs whether it's a bed or lounge chair. Unlimited towels were a perk too. I am used to a towel card and one towel each day. In addition, large pillows are provided which make the beds comfy. The pool in the MORNING to early afternoon is amazing. The upper tier was not used by many but the lower one is a busy spot due to its proximity to the restaurant and ocean. Great views of the beach and ocean too. Wonderful beds are claimed early so if you want to be in this area, get up by 7:00-7:30 and enjoy the sunrise. More on the pool below.Service/staff: we were warmly greeted and escorted to the room. All staff give excellent service and are quick to help. Every day you are greeted by a smile and people gladly serve you. Our first day had a nice start when one man grabbed towels and pillows for us and set up the beds for us two days in a row. We did tip beach wait staff which made for great drink and food service. We were on a first name basis with many people here. Shout out to Sergio and Anan!Food: although this is a resort with a smaller number of restaurants, know that there are many options and all have excellent food. We never had a bad meal. The decor of each place is top notch and classy. It's nice to have a buffet breakfast that isn't loud and busy and provides numerous choices for you. Zangos in the morning is a perfect start to your day! Lunch was enjoyed each day by the beach with an open air, sit down restaurant. However you can eat inside at the buffet Zangos too. At night we enjoyed all settings including reservations for Hibachi, walk in for Italian, a Mexican buffet or a nice steak dinner. Some places change their food choices which allows for you to select something different. Check dress code for some places at night.Bars/drinks: the drink choices were tasty and anything can be made. There is no swim up bar. A lounge off the lobby is open and may or may not have entertainment. It's a nice place to have cocktails. We sat outside some evenings and listened to music or enjoyed bar singers at another lounge. The professional dancers are amazing and had quite a performance in one lounge!Okay aspects: the pool loses sun by the mid-afternoon due to the Secrets high rise next door. The beach did loose some too. I know they can't do anything about that but if you want to enjoy a pool during this time of day in the sun, you can't. It is very windy on this area of hotel row in February and if you want to get away from it and still be in the sun, know it is not an option. That was my biggest disappointment. Our room was a deluxe (basic with no bells and whistles) and only on floor two with no view or balcony. We tried to move and really were disappointed that construction of some kind was going on next to us. It was noisy with lots of banging and no guest should have to put up with that. We didn't spend much time in the room but when wanting to it was annoying. It was clean and spacious. Always neat and clean and a VERY comfy bed! the bathroom is nice with a shower or tub and large in size.Enjoyable trip. Nice place.
