Our Opinion

One of the best resorts to stay at in Cancun. Secrets the Vine is a resort that continuously gets the thumbs-up by guests everywhere. Though it's open to most travelers, the atmosphere and ambiance of this resort caters more to couples and older clientele. This resort scores high on all elements. The grounds are immaculate and kept clean. The rooms are elegant yet modern, and stocked daily. The food options here are limitless. The buffet items give plenty of variety each day and there are plenty of a la carte restaurants to choose from. The a la carte items are also one of the best in quality found on the strip. The staff go above and beyond to ensure that you're getting the most out of your stay. They are also relatively transparent in what they're doing. It can be guaranteed that you'll see the General Manager wandering around the hotel grounds to ensure that guests are happy. A highly recommended resort in Cancun!

Can't wait to return - amazing honeymoon

Apologies to the management and staff that it's taken so long for us to submit this review. We stayed for 2 weeks at the beginning of July for our honeymoon and it was truly amazing. The room, location, hotel, food and drink, but mostly the staff were simply fantastic.Check-inThe best I've ever experienced. Our luggage was whipped away to be taken to our room for us and as we entered the hotel (which was stunning) we were welcomed by name with a glass of champagne and then introduced to one of the butlers, Viktor. We chose the preferred club option and so were taken immediately to the preferred club lounge on the 21st floor which had amazing views of the beach and just about every high quality snack and drink you could want. Viktor was exceptionally helpful and friendly, giving us just the right amount of information needed to settle into the hotel. It was a wonderful welcome and I hardly noticed that this was actually the checking-in process. Impressive.RoomsOur room was shown to us by Viktor who explained how to use the lighting etc and checked that we were happy with everything and then left us to admire the view from our 26th floor junior suite. We had outstanding views of both the ocean and the laguna (Hard Rock Cafe side) which for us was perfect as the balcony was mostly in the shade giving us some respite from the sun. The rooms (and the whole hotel) were kept impeccably clean. The bed was huge, the shower enclosure was even more huge, there were double basins in the bathroom area and pleanty of room throughout with good quality, comfortable balcony furniture. They were well epuipped with everything you could need including a well-stocked mini-bar, safe, tons of wardrobe space, robes and slippers and toiletries including sunscreen.ServiceAs beautiful as this hotel is - and another reviewever was correct, the photos do not do it justice - the service is what makes this hotel so special. Our butlers were outstanding. Vladimir could not do enough for us. We had rose petals decorating our bed, proesecco on ice in our room for our return from the pool, and nothing was too much trouble. There is a tablet in the room to provide info on the hotel and from which you can order room service etc. I requested an alternative pillow and a member of staff arrived about 2 minutes later with it! I even asked Vladimir if I could have a higher powered hairdryer in the room and again, minutes later he was back with a replacement. The staff are all incredibly friendly. We did tip but regardless of this - their attentiveness was impressive. Most mornings we would go for a run along the strip. The staff would always say good morning to us and then would hand us a bottle of chilled water each upon our return! We would then go to the coffee lounge where the lovely girls there would again have some water and cups of ice waiting for us. They are always pleased to see you and make wonderful iced coffees - also try the little shortbread biscuits with your cappucino. Then there was the infinity pool where Miguel (always smiling and a joy to speak to every day) would have laid out towels on our favourite loungers. The pool waiting staff were great. They would regularly come around and offer us a Miami Vice or Mango Tango cocktail. there was no need to leave our sunbeds and the cocktails were often served to us in the pool.A special mention also goes to the bar staff at the beach bar who would have our strawberry mojitos at the ready every day. One in particular (name similar to Bruno) was great.Food and DrinkWe were really impressed. We love our food and we were really looking forward to trying out the restaurants. Our favourites were the Asian and Italian restaurants and the Bluewater Grill. Definitely try the ribs in the Asian restaurant, in fact try everything as it was all superb. We have fairly large appetites and some reviewers have mentioned that the portions were quite small, however we simply ordered numerous dishes and it was wonderful. The steaks were delicious. We also ate at Olio, Sea Salt and the mexican. Our least favourite was the Sea Salt Grill but in fairness, we only ate there once. Breakfast in the mexican buffet restaurant was outstanding. so much to choose from. It was also lovely to be able to help yourself to smoked salmon and champagne for breakfast! There is an egg station from which you can order your eggs, omlettes etc. I ordered eggs benedict which was lovely. Sometimes there was a bit of a queue, but that is to be expected. There was sometimes a queue to get into the restaurant for breakfast, but the staff were very accommodating - the guests were less than impressed, but we didn't have to wait for long and we onlly experienced this once during our 2 week stay. Lunch was another dilema. We loved the garlic prawns at Olio, served at the bar, table or poolside. However, the buffet lunch at the mexican restaurant offered amazing choice with everything cooked fresh. Oour favourite though was the grill by the main pool. Judith, the lovely chef, served the best burgers (according to my husband) and the most succulent chicken, as well as specialities such as kebabs, but there was also a salad bar which you could help yourself to with nachos, salsa, guacamole and a whole host of other salad options. The menu at the poolside bar was also really good - order the nachos - you won't regret it.The drinks were great. I enjoyed margharitas for the first time ever. My husband assured me that the bottled beers were good, despite his initial reservations and although I failed to drink a really good French Martini, I enjoyed so many other fabulous cocktails, I really didn't mind. The poolside cocktails are not strong, but to be honest, when you're drinking a pina colada at 10.30 am, how strong do you need it to be? We loved both the food and the drinks. Yes, there were some dishes which we weren't so keen on, but these were few and far between (the lasagne in the Italian). The rest were delicious.Beach - we only spent one day on the beach (other than running along it - hardest run of my life!) That day was exceptionally windy and the ocean was a little on the rough side procuding waves that resulted in me losing my new Oakley's and bikini bottoms simultaneously - I'll say no more about that! Strangely enough, on the other days the beach looked amazing. Mohammed chivalrously moved parasols next to sunbeds and the Secrets stretch of beach was the only one I saw where the staff conscientiously removed all the seaweed every morninng - how impressive is that?!!PoolsWe spent most of out time in the infinity pool on the 12th floor for preferred guests. This was beautiful, with lilos provided and wonderfully quiet. The view of the ocean and the rest of the hotel was outstanding. The other pools are also beautiful. There are always loungers available, they are scrupulously clean. The pools on the ground floor have more of a party vibe, with plenty of entertainment.AmenitiesWe used the gym once - which was really good with fabulous views of the ocean from the treadmills - but we prefer to get sweaty in the fresh air. The set up was great with lots of fresh towels, drinks and instructors and a good range of equipment. We didn't use the spa - from what we could see - it looked expensive for the treatments provided.Preferred Club Lounge - we didn't use this as much as we could have. Probably because we had already overindulged in every other restaurant/bar in the hotel. The little canapes were lovely and it would have been great from breakfast for some people I am sure. AreaWe used the local bus (cheap as chips and really convenient) to go to La Isla and to Cancun town. La Isla was really nice - some good shopping and eateries and a lovely location. We plan to go back again and spend an evening there. Cancun is also worth a visit - we went around the town including the flea markets, supermarket etc. There are also some lovely restaurants overlooking the laguna on the opposite side to the hotel. We ate in Puerto Madero on one of the evenings (just down the road from Secrets the Vine) and it was one of the best meals I have ever expereienced. I would recommend it, even though it is expensive.EntertainmentWe didn't see much of the entertainment as we spent most of our time at the infinity pool or in the restaurants, however there was often something going on in the main pool area from salsa dancing to water polo and a really good atmosphere. The hotel offers a really impressive combination of entertainment, a party -like atmosphere but within a hotel which exudes calm and smells like you have just walked into a really good quality spa.Room ServiceRoom service is free and was really quite impressive. On one occasion we had breakfast on our balcony. On another we had dinner in our room. My husband was really impressed with the quality of the food - he loved it, and you can order it from the tablet in your room.Overall, we were throroughly impressed with the quality of this hotel. It is mordern, stylish, super-clean and offers good quality food and drink with an impeccable standard of service. We are already planning to return in a few years time. It would be lovely to try another hotel but I honestly don't think it is likely that another will match our experience at Secrets the Vine. We would like to thank all the management and staff for making our honeymoon such a wonderful experience.

Spectacular service for our special week!

Our preferred member experience was fantastic as all hotel staff were very accommodating and organized my surprise engagement. Having access to a butler on our floor allowed us to take full advantage of the hotel's services. Moreover, the preferred club lounge and pool were a perk. The services provided by Leticia, Esparza, Alex were exceptional. We would highly recommend this hotel to our friends and family. At Secrets the Vine there are multiple activity options throughout the day (most of which are complimentary) including water aerobics, beach volleyball, wine tasting, poker, morning yoga, and many more! There are a variety of restaurants and bars too within the hotel. We loved the dumplings and Shanghai balls from Dragon's Restaurant. Market cafe had delicious Crepes and omelette made to order at breakfast! In the evening we loved listening to the live pianist in the lobby as well as the guitarist. If you order a drink while you are enjoying your day at the preferred club pool, make sure to ask Jorge for the "Jorge special"! We hope you enjoy your vacation as much as we did! We will be back.

Beutiful resort

We have traveled extensively in Cancun and Playa Del Carmen and have stayed at Secrets properties in Playa.Starting with check-in. We upgraded to preferred and the personal private check in was great. Our room was not ready yet but that is normal for early arrivals in Mexico. We quickly utilized the amenities and pool. The beach is amazing and the staff is eager to see to your every needs even at the beach. Each day our beach guy Alejandro would make certain we were extremely well taken care of. Thanks Alejandro you are awesome!!!!! He will not let you wait for anything and is a very nice guy.Food:Is average at best with very small portions. If your hungry order more than one of everything. They will gladly double or triple your order. Italian restaurant: Is awful! I had the "Lasagna" and my wife had the Spaghetti Bolognese. The Lasagna was inedible. It had a bad flavor and a grainy texture which made it horrible. One bite I was done. My wife tried it same conclusion. Hers was cooked in butter, OK but no Bolognese sauce. It was weird and couldn't eat it either. The waiter took 2 full plates and didn't ask so we left. The manager asked how our meal was and I explained we didn't like it at all. He offered to make it up to us but by then we weren't interested in their Italian. NO problem though we hit the sports bar for some amazing buffalo wings and jalapeño poppers. The are amazing and a must try.The Asian restaurant is awesome!!!Portions again small but order 4 orders of sushi (4 pieces per order) and your in business. The staff there is top notch and made it a very enjoyable time. The Mexican restaurant is the evenings in the main buffet but is not buffet. Food was very good but again small portions so order up. They wanted real bad to sell us wine or tequila. We don't drink wine and the Tequila is not the good stuff we are familiar with. Not a problem but just a heads up. You can get better tequila off the property. All and all really enjoyed and the food is good. Olio restaurant. Was amazing. Very nice setting outside and the food was excellent. Portions are filling and Boris is great. Boris is pleasant upbeat and not afraid to joke and enjoy the evening. Thanks to Boris!!!!Breakfast buffet. The main buffet and the Asian both have breakfast buffet. Both are excellent and have cook stations to make eggs and omelets to order. You may have a wait for eggs to order but are done very well and really enjoyed them.Sea Salt grill is ok.Entertainment is mediocre at best. Most of the shows were kind of poor and we didn't stay for the end. They could do much better.Had a Mentalist stop by in one of the bars. Armando was pretty amazing really and we enjoyed the one on one demonstration of his craft. Our butlers, Vladimir and Alain were awesome!!! Thanks guys you made our stay very very comfortable and we appreciate the care you took of us. You guys couldn't get everything done (a robe to purchase) but you did give your all in everything and we really appreciate all you did. Champagne in the room rose pedals and all made us feel special. Our maid Yadira, She was great! We tried to pick up after ourselves and not leave you too much and everyday the room looked new again so Thanks! This trip was awesome, restful. The property is beautiful and the staff are all very friendly and accommodating. The food is only average at best but we still enjoyed. We wont hesitate to recommend or return to the property. Any questions just ask but we enjoyed our stay. A bit on the quiet side entertainment wise but an excellent place to stay.

A FANTASTIC trip!

What a fantastic hotel and location. The staff are great and will do anything to help. Everywhere is always spotless and the facilities are excellent.Photos do not do this hotel justice. It really is beautiful. I cannot comprehend how anyone can write a negative review for this hotel- they must be the sort of person to have issues everywhere they stay because it was flawless.Rooms are all fantastic and there are lots of different restaurants which are great.Points to note--no smoking in the majority of the complex (great for non-smokers like us but beware those of you who do smoke!)-majority of guests are American- very very few English were there- if you're wanting an English tourist resort, this is not the one for you!-LOTS of drinking goes on here throughout the day in the pools and around the pool. With it being adults only, it's all pretty civilised but if you are wanting a very quiet, relaxing time, then the main pools are pretty noisy and can get quite rowdy. (The preferred club infinity pool is very quiet though!)-We paid for the preferred club room thinking we would need to for the extra benefits... it was a nice luxury but if we were to come again, it certainly wouldn't be a necessity. Preferred club members have access to the infinity pool (the other pools are lovely though and always have tonnes of beds available), have access to an additional restaurant at lunchtime (not needed though), have access to the preferred club lounge on floor 21 which constantly has little snacks and drinks available, have rooms on floors 21-28 rather than everyone else who is on floors 10,11, 14-20.... so I guess we had the better views! If you have the spare cash, then upgrade to the preferred club, but do NOT feel like you need to!!

Best Vacation Ever

I was at this property from 8/13/17-8/18/17 with seven family members ranging in age from 21-74. Everything was wonderful beginning with the greeters at the front door, the people at the front desk, all servers in the restaurants and bars, and housekeeping The entertainment crew was fabulous, Naomi, Dante, Antonio, Raymondo and all the rest were great and kept it fun. You participated at your own desire no one pressured you. The rooms were beautiful and spotless. When they realized we were celebrating a birthday and an anniversary they had the rooms appropriately decorated for both. The night time entertainment was equally wonderful. I would highly recommend this hotel.
