Feel the love at Beloved!

What can I say, that hasn't been said already about this property.Just got back from a week long stay. My overall experience here was amazing! There isn't much I can say, that hasn't been said already in previous reviews. All I can say, it is true what everyone says.Service is one of the best..Food is amazing for an all inclusive resort. We did have a terrible meal for Valentine's Day and did express this to the resort, so I think in the future, they will be more aware of any "prefixed" holiday dinner. Claudia, the service manager said she was going to have a special dinner for us, since we were so disappointed about Valentines Day, but when we arrived to the restaurant, they had no idea what we were talking about. All rooms are gorgeous! Maybe I would consider staying away from Building 1, since the only evening entertainment, is at Lupita Lounge, which is an open air lounge in the middle of that building.Breakfast, we preferred Isla Grill (restaurant over the pool) instead of buffet at Aroma. You can't beat the outdoor view and cook to order food. Karen the hostess was so sweet and always greeted you with a big smile. We also loved our waiter Antonio. We had dinner here 3 nights in a row. It is considered the resorts steak house in the evening..Cristian and Roberto also stood out to us.We found the beach service GREAT!! Luis, Oscar and Dani, were always available and quick to get us our drinks. The resort is small, so after a day or two, the staff gets to know you, which was so nice.Lupita Lounge, Alberto is the absolute best!!! He is one of the waiters there in the evening and he was so much fun!!!! Also, you must go to the bar in the lobby of the hotel, in the evening and meet Miriam. She is great! Give yourself so time, because she takes her time, but well worth it. Ask for a bon bon! Its her specialty..Overall, the resort is so clean, the staff and food is amazing! Any room you stay in, I think you'll be happy. Not a party place, but don't get me wrong, we meet some great people and had so much fun! That pool bar is a good time in the mid afternoon.Have an iceberg for me!

Upscale and Quiet

We loved our 5-day stay! This entire strip of beach is populated by hotels owned by the Excellence Group. I choose this one due to the small size, and I am so glad I did. It was quiet most of the time, except for a couple hours in the afternoon when there was music and trivia at the main pool. You will not be able to avoid hearing this if you are in a casita, but may not notice it in the other buildings. I imagine the rooms over the lobby and common areas are quiet during the day, but noisier at night due to the restaurants and entertainment. When we arrived, we were given drinks and a cool towel. The desk clerk did his best to get us to pay extra to go from a junior suite to a casita. We declined. He came back a few minutes later with a lower price, and we agreed since the additional amount was the same as the cost of the massage I had planned on - we decided to skip the massage. We did enjoy the casita (Hermosa1) because it was on the ground floor and walked right out to the beach. The room was spacious and we loved the 2-person shower (which you get in all rooms). We didn't use the tub, and we only used the plunge pool once, although they were both very nice. I would have used the plunge pool more if it was more private - no skinny dipping since the neighboring casitas can see you, and anyone could walk by on the beach. The casitas are closest to the main pool, but the other two buildings also have their own pool. If you want maximum quiet, these pools are better than the main pool. If you want activity and a swim-up bar, the main pool is the place to be. Waiter service was slow on the pool and beach, even when tipping. It was much faster to get our own drinks from the swim up bar.The beach is lovely, although it was difficult to find a chair/bed at either the main pool or beach. You can walk to the pier and marina on the right, and for a quite a way past other resorts on the left. This beach is on the east side, so you will see a beautiful sunrise, but can't see a sunset. The food here is excellent, but it's mostly a la carte. The only buffet offered is at breakfast, but it's an excellent mix of American and Mexican dishes. They even have a real honeycomb! There are only two options for lunch; these are the restaurants at the main pool and on the beach. All restaurants are open for dinner. Everything we had was excellent, but the pace is slow; you are expected to order multiple courses. Don't expect to eat in less than an hour. I was worried when we first arrived because the in-room literature said long pants were required for men in the main restaurants. I guess that was old, because they allowed long shorts and a nice shirt, as described on the website. I was surprised that they enforced a dress code at the restaurant over the main pool - my boyfriend was not allowed to wear a tank top. It's not described on the website, but the gym is fantastic for a resort (see photos). It's large, with lots of machines, though no dumbbells over 50 pounds and no barbells. They do have a TRX room and a yoga/pilates room, so plenty of space to spread out. They offer exercises classes each day. I attended a pilates class, but the trainer was shocked to see me there; he said no one ever shows up. We went on a very cute bicycle excursion. It was only about 3 miles on a flat sidewalk, so anyone can do it. The guide first takes you to a little park where they let you hold parrots and a baby alligator. Then you ride past several of the resorts and turn around at a golf course. If you are a runner or walker, you'll be glad to know there is a sidewalk that runs for miles along the main road. The room was cleaned daily and they turned down the bed at night. They re-stocked the bar with our preferences. Sometimes a little too well...beware the cookies and candy bars, ha!The web site mentions that they will clean one outfit per person but this information was not found in the room. They did provide this service for us when we asked. It was the same with their hydro treatment, and it was absolutely worth it. The treatment was almost 2 hours, including chocolate covered strawberries and champagne, all for free! Note that they do take every opportunity to try to sell you spa services, from check-in to the turndown service (the housekeeper turns on the tv and it plays a commercial for the spa). The only negatives I can think of:1. The television reception was horrible. They sent someone to fix it, but it didn't help. 2. Wifi works throughout the resort, but not for streaming. Facebook updates and news come though, but don't expect to use Netflix or stream music.3. They checked in on us a little too much. We must have had 6 unanswered messages on the phone and at least 2 calls that we answered. I guess they kept calling to check on the tv situation and our laundry delivery.4. Room service will walk right into your room. I thought the x-box was for leaving food so I wouldn't have to open the door, but I guess they won't do that unless you specifically ask. We ordered a late lunch and then took a dip in the plunge pool. I guess we didn't hear the knock on the door, because a waiter walked through our room onto the patio with our food on a tray. The shower doors are see-though, so I would have raised a fuss if he'd walked in on us in the shower. The room service food was also no where near as good as the food in the restaurants. It was mostly basics like sandwiches and appetizers.5.Their staff seemed a little confused at times. We didn't understand what the "white party" was so we asked if it was just appetizers and alcohol. The staff member said "yes", so we had sushi for dinner. It turned out it was a huge buffet on the beach and we missed it. We also asked where the fire show was that night (that's how it was described in the daily bulletin they leave in your room). The staff said we should try the "other palapa". We had no idea what that meant, but the fire show was literally 20 feet behind where she was standing (at the white party buffet). Language barrier, I guess.Overall, we loved the place and I will definitely consider going to their other properties. This place is well-run and REALLY well-maintained.

A Beloved Experirnce

Our overall assessment was very positive. The most outstanding aspect was the friendliness of the entire staff. Rarely did we pass by an employee without receiving a smile and a warm greeting. This attitude was enhanced by a few individuals who went above and beyond to help meet our every need. We spend most of our time at the beach and thanks to Jesus and Luis for making every day a most enjoyable experience. Beloved is very easy to move around and definitely wheelchair friendly. We were originally concerned with only 4 restaurants but the selections were more than sufficient so eating more than once was not a problem. Two good options were available at lunch but would liked to have had the buffet as a choice for lunch rather than only for breakfast. Christian waited on us a number of times and always made our dining experience most enjoyable. He even made us a special dessert that was delicious. We liked the more casual entertainment options rather than the theater performances at other resorts with the same shows year after year. Claudia Trevino was a special treat. We even went to see her preform again at the Excellence Resort next door. The Beatles Tribute Band at the Lupita Lounge was another favorite. Thanks to Alberto for the attention he gave us each night. We felt the Lounge could be made even more inviting by a different arrangement of the seating options. This was our 3rd stay at an Excellence Resort and we continue to rate them as our first choice. Beloved is a bit more reserved but with the same high standards.

Beloved !!

I stayed at this hotel for a week to celebrate my birthday and can only say great things about our trip !!! What sets this hotel apart from others is the staff, they are simply exceptional and make guests feel like royalty !! Claudia and Noelia made sure that we were comfortable and happy at the hotel in every way and resolved any issue we could possibly have.Eduardo and Oscar were great at the beach and made sure we liked our drinks !! The beach is beautiful , there is some seaweed but it is getting cleaned up constantly. The guys at the beach provide non-motorized gear to go paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing and snorkeling !! There is a sunken ship with some fish where you can go snorkeling too. Other activities include parasailing and jet skis and you can also arrange to go scuba diving in other places through them. The vibe is super relaxed , mostly couples traveling alone or in groups. The beach is the best place to relax, read a book and work on your tan. There is entertainment every night at Lupita Lounge and also a few activities at the main pool with the swim up bar. The other pools were very quiet and relaxing. The hotel is about 35 minutes away from the airport , past the hotel zone and right in front of Isla Mujeres. The only other hotels in the vicinity are Finest (for families) and Excellence which is enormous in comparison to beloved.Things I really recommend:- lychee martini at Lupita lounge - lobster at el mar- fish ceviche and chili nachos at the beach- the hydrotherapy 👌🏼- having room service for breakfast in the room (more relaxing)- renting a cabana at the beach - definitely staying at a room with a private pool (two story casitas or owners suite) to have a view of the ocean- making sure the private pool at the room is heated every afternoon/evening to enjoy soaking with a view of the ocean- asking for pillows you like for a comfortable sleepThe beach front casitas are not exactly beachfront, although they are closer to the beach than other rooms. However I do have to say that the ground floor casita with a private pool is not very private (we had that room initially but asked to change rooms). The hotel was extremely helpful and without problems we upgraded to the presidential suite which was amazing and a great treat!!). If we come back to the hotel it would definitely be to a two story casita. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation and great 5 star service. I loved that the hotel was small, was almost fully occupied but felt quiet and spacious. The staff made me feel very pampered every single day!! Thank you for everything ❤️❤️❤️ !!!

Very good quiet boutique

Six of us stayed at The Beloved for 4 nights starting on January 7, 2017. We had 3 Casita suites, side by side, near the ocean (as requested). These are simply amazing rooms with a bigger than expected (and slightly heated) private plunge pool. Can’t say enough about the rooms. Our bed was PERFECT. We all recommend upgrading to the Casita suites. The weather wasn’t the best for our trip, and that really cut back the activities and outdoor fun factor. Our last day was better, and so was the resort. There was a reggae band by the pool, a short game of bingo, and some water aerobics. The entire resort staff was better when the weather was good.As stated in other reviews, this is a quiet resort that is primarily set up for a rest and relaxation type of vacation. We are 58, and 60, and our adult children are late 20’s and early 30’s. This resort was a little too quiet for the kids. We all had a great time, but they wanted more activities than were available. Once, there was a small casino night and that was lots of fun.The only real disadvantage of a boutique resort is the limited dining options. The Beloved has 4 very good dining options. But, I would get tired of the limited options if I was planning a stay of more than 5 or 6 days. If you stay a week, you can go next door to the Excellence Playa Mujeres (same corporation) for dinner one night. I wish it was available more than that. Most of the food we had at The Beloved was beautiful and very good (not great). On Sunday night, we had a terrible dining experience (stupid slow 3 hour service, cold food, terrible waiter, wrong food …). We travel to luxury Mexican all inclusives a lot and this was the single worst dining experience we have ever had. We shared this with the management team and they seemed interested in hearing about it. Hopefully that got fixed. I believe it was simply a busy Sunday night with a weak, new or short-handed kitchen crew and a very poor waiter that was in way over his head. The following morning, at breakfast, a different waiter spilled an entire drink on my wife … and never said “I’m sorry”. It was an accident. He was embarrassed. He tried to clean it up as quickly as possible. But, he never said the two magic words. Huge training opportunity here. The bartenders and the pool waiters did a great job. We are good tippers, so that never hurts. The drinks were great and the wine was pretty good. The room service was very good as well. The girls and my sons said the spa was amazing. Possibly the best massage ever. I didn’t use the Spa, myself.I would recommend The Beloved, and I have. I will return to The Beloved in the future. But, probably for a long R&R weekend get-away and not for an extended vacation. Our adult children would have done better next door at EPM.
