Our OpinionThe Hotel Cozumel & Resort is a great resort option for those wanting a relaxing, as well as an adventurous time in Cozumel. The rooms are very spacious and well-kept, making it a great place for travelers who are wanting to get away and relax. The resort is located relatively close to the city center. This resort is also located near some of the most breathtaking dive sites in Cozumel. A great escape for anyone!
While the have a limited beach. It does offer easy access to shore and boat diving. Cozumel Marine World is a short walk across the bridge. You can store your dive gear in lockers right on the pier. Bring your own lock or buy one for $5.00 at the dive boutique. Snorkel or dive right from the pier. Small reef offers shallow water with lots to see. Swim North to half way in between the 2 concrete structures and stay in about 12' of water to see the bronze statue of Jacques Cousteau. Service at the resort was very good, and the staff tries to accommodate any requests. The restaurant is good with an excellent breakfast buffet. Poolside bar service lets you soak up the sun and enjoy a cold beverage.
I rarely offer a negative review. This was the only downside to my wife's and my anniversary. We booked three nights through Expedia to finish our anniversary trip and as soon as we pulled up I knew I made a wrong choice. No smiles or welcomes , our first room was bad we asked for a upgrade , the upgraded room felt like a prison cell. You can hear every cough or sneeze from every guest around. Feet got dirty from walking on floors, hair in shower, front door barely locked, safe was broken. After one night I called Expedia and told them I was checking out. Unfortunately manager refused to refund money. The only two pleasant people at hotel was the bellman and the bartender...
We had a great time at Casa Del Mar. We stayed for a week and loved the proximity to everything. The resort reminds me of the places I stayed with my parents 20 years ago. Yes, there are fancier places, but this still feels like you are in Mexico. We snorkeled right from the beach and the kids loved the pool. The rooms are dated and the beds are hard which took a few nights of getting use to. I like the older style rooms and they are clean. We ate at the restaurant at least once a day two times some days. The food was really good. Also the game room, laundry service, free parking for our rental car and friendly/low pressure staff were appreciated. We will be back...great sunsets!
This hotel is really a "last resort" type place that you go to if nothing else is available. Everything is antiquated. I doubt this place has spent any money on upgrades or renovations in the last 5 years. Linen and bedding are more than 3 years old at least. Air conditioner is working fine but noisy. Bathrooms are also in acceptable conditions. We paid very little for the room so I guess you get what you pay for.The restaurant is not the best on the island by a long shot. Menus themselves are disgusting and dirty. Food is 50/50...you may or may not get diarrhea. So take your chances if feeling adventurous. Staff speak limited english and often requests get misunderstood.Anyway, stayed here a couple of time in the past 7 years and nothing has changed since first time I stayed here. I try avoid staying here if at all possible but its one of the only places close to port apart from Elcid and Royal Park hotels
We used this hotel as our base for a week long Cozumel scuba trip. It is an older hotel, but staff are friendly, rooms are spacious and clean, restaurant provides good meals and a nice pool with a swim in bar. Maybe mire importantly for scuba divers, it is right across the street from Cozumel Marine World dive operators and Dive Boutique Souvenirs. Dive operations centrally located with easy access to dive sites and evening entertainment. Overall would recommend if budget conscious.
