Our OpinionThe Hotel Cozumel & Resort is a great resort option for those wanting a relaxing, as well as an adventurous time in Cozumel. The rooms are very spacious and well-kept, making it a great place for travelers who are wanting to get away and relax. The resort is located relatively close to the city center. This resort is also located near some of the most breathtaking dive sites in Cozumel. A great escape for anyone!
Property was clean with good air conditioning in rooms. The restaurant was open air with fans overhead. We were part of a group of divers and all were accommodated together. Good showers. Beds are on concrete bases with firm but comfortable beds. Good showers. No lifts.Staff helpful but with minimal english spoken.About $10 via taxi into town.We had the meal and drinks package which was good but at $49 per day for each day of stay as minimal alcohol drinkers and we ate out a couple of times, while convenient we would probably have been better to have paid for our meals. We visited the beach club associated with the hotel which was a waste of time.Staff helpful for our needs.Nice pool with swim up bar.Located across the road from the ocean and next to a dive shop.
This was our 3rd time staying at Casa del Mar. We stayed in one of the cabanas. This is a good hotel if your primary focus is diving. The hotel has a pool with swim up bar which is a good place to relax in the afternoons. The rooms are clean and housekeeping does a good job picking up every day. They have a a meal plan that includes free drinks which is nice if you don't want to explore the island. If you like to explore and try new places, I would suggest that you get the breakfast only plan and get lunch and dinner on the island. The staff is very attentive and does a good job of taking care of you. The only thing I would complain about here is the wifi and cell service. Wifi can be a bit slow and you're at a place on the island where cell reception is spotty at best.
We paid for four people to dive two days of two tank dives through their website. I followed the instructions perfectly and paid exactly what they wanted. Upon our arrival only two of us were able to make it at check in and for the first day of diving the following day (mind you we paid for 4 people). My friend who is new to diving wanted to only do a shore dive from the dock that day and get in the drift with the other guys the next day. That was fine so that's what we did for the first day. Only one of the two friends was able to make it so we wanted to plan the already paid for dive house dive trip for the next day. Remember we only had a total of three divers. We accepted the fact that we paid for 4 and it was our fault that we only had 3 so we knew we would take a loss of 1 paid dive trip. The young non English speaking girl at the front desk was confused as to what we wanted so I asked for a manager. The manager stated that since they put us in the deluxe room the dives weren't included. We didn't know what room we were getting only the room and dives that was originally paid for. She told us too bad that's our fault for accepting the room. We have never been here before and did not have any idea what to expect. We paid for 4 dive packages a total of 8 drift dives and didn't receive a single one. I'll never recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to have an all inclusive dive package. On to the room. It was pretty nice except for the ants I mean a lot of ants. Now on to the other hotel guests. There was a vast number of teenagers that was there for an extended stay from Canada. They called me and several other male guests perverts for looking at them. They were dressed in very inappropriate swimsuits for their ages. I have a daughter that age and I would never let her go into public dressed like that. Very disappointed in their actions ruining at least 4 other guests vacation. They bullied people away and kept the from using the pool whenever they wanted the pool. Management was advised and they just smiled and did nothing about it. I travel to Cozumel about 2-3 times a year and have never had such a bad experience like this.
We stayed in a deluxe cabana which included a refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, two burner stove. No coffee cups or cooking utensils provided. Soon to realize why..tiny tiny ants in the kitchen area. Then a few days later tiny tiny ants on the side bed shelves, no food in sight. Went to front desk to report the issue and the gentlemen on duty did not speak English. As far as the rest of the room, it was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our patio with table, chairs and umbrella. The restaurant, housekeeping, and grounds staff were all friendly. We ate breakfast and dinner a couple of times during our stay. Food and service was good. Very reasonably priced. The bartenders were friendly and made great pina coladas and margaritas. Beer was cold. Ample parking. Pool area was large with plenty of lounge chairs, tables and umbrellas. Pool towels provided at bell stand. Safe in room. All in all a good hotel, although if I wanted to cohabitate with ants I would have gone camping.
Casa del Mar is a great place for scuba divers who want to have quick and easy access to the amazing diving Cozumel offers. The pool is clean, there is a swim up bar and there is a restaurant on site. There are also several places to eat within walking distance. The rooms are basic, but clean and the staff is very helpful and friendly.
