Our OpinionThe Melia Cozumel is a great resort for those wanting a relaxing getaway. A very laid back resort with amazing views of the beach. The food items are OK. For those looking for a luxurious getaway, there are a variety of other options available for a better deal.
Location: On the beach, 10 min to town of San Miguel, 15 min from the airport.
Melia Cozumel Mexico is the worst hotel my wife and I have EVER stayed at. Our beach could not be swam in bc it is rough and covered in seaweed. Food is bad. And slippery floors everywhere. Ppl falling breaking arms and lots of injuries. Never go!Wife had surgery on arm and management was rude and didn't even ask how we were.On top of that we had no English tv channels and our toilet and faucet leaked.Management told us that it was an "accident" and they were not responsible. After my wife fell another gentleman fell in same spot immediately after.
I stayed at Melia hotel from 3rd March - 11th March, it was just beautiful, room was excellent, ocean view, food was top class, the staff were so friendly and helpful, I will definitely come back here for a visit in the near future
We had the pleasure of staying at the Melia Cozumel Golf Resort from March 10-17, 2017. We booked a Royal Suite and were given Room 117. Our room was ground level, nicely decorated and had a private patio with our own hydra-massage tub and two beach loungers. By the way, this resort has the nicest beach loungers we've ever seen at a resort! Best of all, it was ocean front! Our room and the whole resort was was very clean for the entire week. The food at the buffet was good and there were always lots of options for fresh meat and fish cooked to order. We tried the other restaurants at the resort too and they were all very good. The margaritas were amazing! The entertainment that we enjoyed the most during our stay was the all-girl band that played one night, they were pretty good. The fire show one night was good as was the urban dance show. There were always palapas available on the beach for shade and there were plenty of extra beach lounges. We didn't really use the pools as we found them too cold and we love the beach anyway. Every worker we encountered at the resort was friendly and helpful and seemed happy to be there!
Check in was fast but we did not get the king bed we asked for, instead-2 double beds! The room was clean and view of beach, beautiful. One elevator was out when arriving and 3 days later the other went out and we didn't get much response when complaining about having to climb 11 stories to our room! I have had knee surgery and a bad heart, so expected when they said it could be out for a couple days, that they could move us or offer room service. Food selection was great, however, never really very hot! Making a reservation for the Italian restaurant was impossible and if we had wanted to stand in line for that long in order to book it, we would have gone to Disney World! People at the hotel were mainly very friendly. Would we go back, probably not due to not getting the room requested. The beach did have some nasty seaweed if the winds were from the north, but some days it was crystal clear. They raked up the seaweed off the beach every day and carted it away. The hotel has a beautiful clear area to snorkel.
fantastic time as always. our friends were married on the beach last year. it was our first trip and we loved it. that couple has been there about 6 or more times. six of us came back this year and it was even better than our first time. the beach is so beautiful and clean and very spacious. we walked to other resorts and their chairs were all crammed together and their sand was rough and filled with debris. Melia has the best beach by far. the room staff are beyond friendly and the restaurant and bar staff are so kind and helpful. i would recommend Melia to anyone and everyone looking for adventure or for just good ol' relaxation.
