Our OpinionThe Melia Cozumel is a great resort for those wanting a relaxing getaway. A very laid back resort with amazing views of the beach. The food items are OK. For those looking for a luxurious getaway, there are a variety of other options available for a better deal.
Location: On the beach, 10 min to town of San Miguel, 15 min from the airport.
We just returned from 6 nights at Melia. I cannot say enough nice things about the resort and the staff. We were treated like royalty by everyone we came in contact with. The bartenders, Enrique and Felipe, were amazing. Our waiters in the buffet, Adrian and Miguel, went above and beyond everyday. Marco and David in the Italian restaurant were great! The best part of our trip was when they upgrade our daughter to a Royal Suite right next to our room. She came in a few days after us and was upgraded from a Premium Ocean Front without our knowledge. It made our trip!! We will certainly come back to the Melia if and when we return to Cozumel. This is the second time we have stayed at a Melia property and have been pleased each time. Thank you Melia for making our vacations so memorable!!!
The staff is completely over worked, which makes them and unfriendly and always agitate until they see you pull out money for tips. The food is disgusting at the snack bar and buffet and slow (like 2.5 hour weight after placing your order)in the resturant, I lost weight at this resort because I didn't eat. The water underneath the international resturant stale and unclean (with an order you wouldn't believ ) which invites the entire island's mosquitoes! We came to this location are leaving another resort in Mexico ( beyond clean, staff was friendly, pthe food there was to say the least amazing and not one mosquitoe bite ) came here expecting the same thing and was gravely disappointed.
We just returned from a week at Melia Cozumel, and this visit was even better than our last! The beach is beautiful and there are always plenty of lounge chairs to relax in. The family pool and the adults-only pool are kept very clean, and there is always an activity to join in on around the pool. There is a variety of food each day in the main dining area and the food at the Iguana snack bar is awesome, if you just want to continue lounging by the pool or beach. There are 3 reservation-only restaurants. Reservations are offered for a very limited time each day at 11am. My one suggestion would be to offer the reservations earlier in the morning, or for a longer period time each day.The rooms are very nice and clean and the a/c works perfectly! I do wish that they had dressers in each guest room, so we aren't digging clothes out of our suitcases all week. The BEST part about this resort, and what keeps us coming back each summer are the people who work there! The entertainment staff are so friendly and fun. They learn each guest's name and keep activities lively and fun all day and night! Mary, Maru, Mauricio, Miguel, Susana, Nolberto and Jorge all became our friends very quickly, and I truly miss seeing them everyday, now that I am back home! The staff in the restaurants, the cleaning staff, the front desk staff are all so courteous and friendly. Our bartenders Augusto and Felipe were so kind. Augusto even made my son, who is fascinated by the coconuts in the trees, a special drink in a real coconut!! The nightly entertainment is always a different fantastic show. We thoroughly enjoyed the performances and looked forward to each nightly show. Thank you Melia Cozumel for another wonderful vacation!! We will see you ALL next summer!!
Don't let the word Golf in the title fool you. This is not a golf resort. It is a wonderful beach resort. The golf course is over two miles away and there is no transportation there. Also, the cost of golf is not included. You have to pay full price to play. If you are looking for a beach resort, this is the place to go. It is a beautiful all inclusive on a wonderful sandy beach. The food was amazing and the accommodations were immaculate. Highly recommend!
In the course of our time together so far, my boyfriend and I have travelled to Jamaica, St. Maarten, and now Cozumel-- all at all-inclusive resorts. We have never had a bad experience, but our stay at Melia in Cozumel is definitely our best rated. The major factor in our satisfaction was the hospitality, kindness, and helpfulness of the entire staff at the resort. No matter where we were, we were greeted and tended to by friendly staff. The food is good, and there is a variety of themed buffets. However, I would suggest making reservations for dinner at the three different restaurants. We only had the chance to go to the Mexican and Italian, and both had great food accompanied by stellar service. The beach on the resort is beautiful, but the water is mostly filled with seaweed. Not to worry though, because about a five minute walk down the beach is a pier that separates Melia from the next door resort. The water on the beach of that resort is the most beautiful, crystal clear water I've ever seen or been in. Theres all sorts of fish swimming in this little oasis, and snorkeling and swimming in it was unreal. You could jump off the pier, or walk in from the beach, and it is simply incredible. You can rent all sorts of water equipment on the resort beach for free, except for jet skis (which I suggest doing). All-in-all, we had the utmost enjoyable experience staying at Melia in Cozumel, and will DEFINITELY be back!
