Our OpinionThe Melia Cozumel is a great resort for those wanting a relaxing getaway. A very laid back resort with amazing views of the beach. The food items are OK. For those looking for a luxurious getaway, there are a variety of other options available for a better deal.
Location: On the beach, 10 min to town of San Miguel, 15 min from the airport.
Being a member of the Melia vacation club we have been to several of the Melia resorts. Even though this one is much smaller in size it still is a beautiful resort with a very friendly staff. The rooms were a good size and very clean but the balcony was a bit small. Food was very good with a wonderful variety. Going the first week in September was great because it was not crowded at all. We were able to use the Bali beds every day. Carlos, the entertainment director went out of his way to get everyone involved in the evening activities, which were a lot of fun.
As a bit of an all "inclusive snob", I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the Melia. The rooms were very clean. Bar service was good and the food was as expected for a budget all inclusive. A genuine surprise was the ceviche served at the snack bar. Next to the ubiquitous burgers, fries and wings was a very good ceviche rich in scallops served in tall "ice cream sundae glasses".Being a recent part of a blended family, I was a little aprehensive about spending most of mt time on the "kids side" of the resort. I should be flogged with licorice sticks and pelted with jelly beans for such arrogance. The family side was quieter, more civilized and frankly a lot more fun. The activity team is tireless in leading numerous active and quiet activities that peeked everyone's interest. When I doddled over to the adult pool, to be quite honest, I was repulsed. An undersized pool with oversized people swilling as much as they could, countered so much the relatively tranquil nature of the family side. The service staff were extremely friendly while the front desk and bar tenders were professionally efficient. The servers at the international restaurant were extremely attentive and the food quality was good. For a family oriented vacation on a budget, Melia merits strong consideration.
Very nice ocean front superior room and resort and service. The whole staff was very attentive and pleasant. My only complaint was the bed in my room. The mattress smelled like it was mildewed. I would recommend this resort.
I have never been so disappointed at a hotel stay in my life. It was horrible. The customer services reps had unprofessional attitudes especially Alejandro, Erik, and I believe her name was Liz. The food was not as enticing, neither were the rooms. The chicken tasted old and the upscale restaurant had rubbery and salty foods. The selection for food was not good. The rooms stayed wet and it stayed cold in the room even if we turned off the ac. The shower heads were broken, we had to get new keys 4 different times before they came and fixed the door and the towels were dirty on top of bugs in the shower every morning. They did not honor our coupons until the night before and when we upgraded the rooms, they were still wet and cold. We got sick from it. They also claimed to have sand flees and made you pay for repellent which should be accommodated through the hotel already. It was the worst stay ever. I really don't know how this hotel is considered a four star more like 1.4 star and that's just because we had somewhere to stay. DON'T STAY AT THIS HOTEL EVER.
I do with the other review , the towels are light gray color and also the room is wet. the ac is very noisy. the hotel is outdated and kind of tired. The food quality is bad. The coffee is bad , the juice just taste like water. the chicken smell refrigeration. and they charge for internet. the only good thing is the price is low. but I prefer to pay a little more to have a nice vacation. I stay here for 6 days and I only have 2 meals here
