Our OpinionA gem of a resort with great value. The Playa Azul is a modest little resort. Despite being a little smaller than most of the major resorts around the strip, there is no shortage of quality and luxury. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive, and there are a variety of activities to do within and outside of the resort grounds. The food is OK. It is recommended that travelers explore other options with regards to food. Overall, an amazing hotel for its value.
I will either have to move here or the masseuse will have to come home with me. It was 50 minutes of pure relaxing pleasure. We are here for five more days and I am already planning my return. I have recently had knee surgery and explained this when making the appointment. She planned a session carefully and without any complications
My husband and I stayed here over Easter weekend. Big mistake as far as travel time is concerned. The resort was packed with lots of families and small children who were in the pool area (which our room faced) screaming from morning till 11 o'clock at night. Forget relaxing at the pool or in our room. Our room was nice and the hotel restaurant food was really good and reasonably priced. It is far from town and round trip cab fare is $20. It is only $10 a day to rent a car so it is definitely worth it. The beach area is small but very nice. There is a roped of area for swimming and snorkeling.
Great atmosphere in this place. The hotel itself is well appointed and laid out, it's in a really nice location a bit out of the way of the crowds and cruisers. The staff really make it, we were very well looked after and found everyone warm, friendly and welcoming. Might even be persuaded to make an exception to the constant quest to visit new places and join the happy ranks of return guests some day!
We stayed here for a second time..... and we NEVER do that! In fact, most of the guests we talked with were all returners, which is the highest compliment that can be paid to a hotel really. The location is perfect. It's about a ten minute taxi ride from the town centre and 15 minutes from the airport. You are near enough to everything, but far away enough not to get swamped by cruise ship passengers. All the taxi drivers use a sheet of agreed rates and nobody ever tried to rip us off. There is a radio at reception and the guy there gets you a cab within 5 minutes. The receptionist recognised us straight away when we arrived, as did many of the staff. The guys in the bar, unbelievably, even remembered what beer I liked. That was from 12 months ago! It shows that you are not just another tourist when you stay in this place.Reception is clean and airy, the restaurant is casual and relaxed and our room was very clean and well maintained. A special mention to our room cleaner, who left a different towel sculpture for us every single day. Service is exceptional. Every single member of staff is pleasant without being obsequious or tip-chasing. I didn't really see any management (that I was aware of), but they are clearly doing something right. When we casually mentioned that it was our wedding anniversary to the receptionist, ten minutes later there was a complimentary bottle of wine delivered to our room.I am a scuba diver, and the attached (but independent) dive school is excellent. I have over 500 dives all around the world and I know a good dive operation when I see one.Highly recommended. Ask for a room with a balcony facing the pool. Great view.
This was our second time staying at Playa Azul and it was perfect in every way. Our room was on the fourth floor and our view from the balcony was phenomenal. We loved sitting out there at night watching the stars come out, after we had watched a beautiful sunset. We did the all-inclusive option this trip because we did not want to mess with going into town for dinner every night, and we were extremely pleased with all the food we ate. Everything we tasted was top notch, world class food---delicious and beautifully presented. And of course, the service at the restaurant and the beach bar was excellent. Kudos especially to Felipe at the beach bar, and to Carlos, our waiter in the evenings in the restaurant. They went above and beyond to make sure our food & drinks were perfection. Also, this place has to be the cleanest hotel on the island---the housekeeping staff is impeccable. And, last, but not least, the snorkeling off the beach was AMAZING---we even saw an octopus! We love, love, love Playa Azul---it's the best little hotel in all of Mexico!
