Our OpinionA gem of a resort with great value. The Playa Azul is a modest little resort. Despite being a little smaller than most of the major resorts around the strip, there is no shortage of quality and luxury. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive, and there are a variety of activities to do within and outside of the resort grounds. The food is OK. It is recommended that travelers explore other options with regards to food. Overall, an amazing hotel for its value.
This is one of my 2 favorite places to stay in Cozumel. It is on the north side of the island, has it's own small but sandy beach and swimming area, and amazing snorkeling right in front of the hotel. I don't golf, but have stayed here a few times, and have always found the service fantastic, the rooms clean with a beautiful view of the ocean! I've come here solo as well as traveled with friends, and would HIGHLY recommend this place!!
Celebrated our 5th stay at Playa Azul- It was another outstanding week stay in paradise- We again chose to do the All Inclusive plan and again were 100% satisfied with the food/drink as well as great service provided by Kermit- Darwin-Felipe- Carlos, Luis, Sergio, Juan and Michele and Angel. Each one goes above and beyond what their job requires of them to make sure your having a good time and are happy each day of your stay.Stayed in a different room this year with an even better view which was a nice treat- The room had a few upgrades since last year- such as a new shower head- and new TV. As well as the same comfortable beds, ample towels - coffee pot/with coffee/tea. For those needing this...There is also Wifi available thru out the hotel. It is always a nice touch to come back to the room in the afternoon after the gals clean the room to see the towel art with fresh flowers they leave on your bed and on the sink each day- And how "Sweet" when they turn down your bed in the evening and leave Hershey Chocolate Kisses on the bed.The new tables/chairs out at the pool and lounge chairs at the beach area were also a nice additions this year as well as the new tables/chairs in the open air restaurant as well. There were some new menu items that were all quite delicious too.The Playa Azul staff,,,from those who that make your reservation to those checking you in upon arrival and out when you leave are all professional and always so very accommodating. Whether you need a taxi booked to take a tour of the island or a dinner reservation made at a restaurant off site from the hotel there is never a problem with them handling it for you and always done so with a smile.Always so nice to see familiar faces of repeat guests each year. We look forward to that each stay. Staying at the Playa Azul is like going on a vacation to visit family or attending a family reunion- The staff is always welcoming with hugs/kisses. Always aiming to please and make sure your entire stay is nothing but perfect. If your thinking about staying at this hotel- don't think twice ... You too will become a repeat guest as so many get hooked after their 1st stay like we did.We are already counting the days till our next return. Not to wish away time but sure hope the year goes by fast till we return Next March 2018.Thank you Playa Azul Staff for a PERFECT 5th stay - Stay well till we see you again next year-
Stayed at Playa Azul in February 2017. Clean small hotel on north end of San Miguel. Golf green fees are included in room rate, but we don't golf, so not a benefit to us. Breakfast buffet was also included in room rate and breakfast food was ok. Also ate in restaurant one night and octopus dinner was very good. Stayed in a basic room on main level - view was of pool area. Pool was cold and not many used it. WiFi was good. Nothing special about the room, but they did have good in room coffee, room was clean, had a decent shower and good hot water and bed was comfortable (especially for Mexico). Most of the folks staying there were roughly our age - 60ish - very low key and quiet. Never very many in bar or restaurant. Snorkeling was ok just off the property. Would I recommend to someone? - yes, if you want a quiet, clean place to stay, especially if you plan on golfing. Are there places on Cozumel just as good or better for the money (if you don't golf)? Yes. Overall enjoyed our stay and have no complaints but will probably try something elsewhere next time.
This was our first trip to Cozumel and based on friends recommendations we stayed at Playa Azul. The resort is right on the water front and very low key which was just what we were looking for. Service was excellent! We did the Breakfast only plan which worked best for us. Rooms were very clean and a lot of attention was given to detail on the daily cleaning including a new towel art every day, flowers and waters. We rented an ocean front but from what we could see almost every room had an ocean view and balcony. The wifi worked very well, AC very cold, plenty of hot water! Highly recommend this resort for a very relaxing time. We are already planning our next trip back.
Very enjoyable trip, golfed everyday, challenging course, weather is always great. addition of breakfast included is awesome. Great Service at a smaller resort. Will be making it back here as often as I can. Safe in room is ok at best, but they have security to get back in the hotel, if after dark. We went during Carnival week so needed to be out enjoying the activities. Always had taxis waiting to take you where you wanted to go.
