Sunscape Sabor Cozumel

The Sunscape is an amazing hotel that offers great value. The resort offers various different amenities and has amazing and knowledgeable staff. The dive locations around this area is unlike any other. For those looking for a vacation where they spend more days out and about should stay here.
My following averages are compared to other all-inclusive resorts on Cozumel. I have also stayed at the Allegro, Occidental Grand, and Iberostar. Sabor has above average food and restaurant experience (esp El Patio staff Luis and Alejandra and Portofino staff Rosa). Average beach, rocky /grassy in most places once you're in the water, nice sand, ok snorkeling off beach. Average rooms - if you have dive gear (wetsuits etc) that you want to hang to dry, request an upstairs room, since the ground-level rooms do not have a semi-private space to hang them and the rooms are usually super-humid even with AC on. I like the towel service here: no cards, just grab what you want and go, and they place towels out on the lounge chairs in the mornings. Smaller resort, so it's a short walk from your room to the beach / restaurants / bars. Activity pool is VERY active on weekends. Secrets' adults-only restaurant on the beach for lunch is a nice respite at those times. Bars and bar service are average, friendly but generally low-quality alcohol. I stuck with margaritas most of the time. Dive Palancar, on the Secrets end of the area, is fabulous. Have been diving with them twice before while staying at other resorts. I did not use any spa services or the gym. Lots of trees and palapas on the beach for shade. Overall we had a great time and may return just based on the food and dive shop quality.
The layout of the facility was very nice in terms of close proximity to things. The resort is missing a few things in terms of its attention to detail. Ricardo, one of the bartenders, was awesome at providing friendly service. The beach can be a bit rocky, but has amazing snorkeling sights. The food was very good! It was overall a great vacation with the perfect balance of peace and quietness and also entertainment.
Sunscape was FABULOUS! My mom and I went for my graduation from college trip and enjoyed ourselves very much! We had great service all day, every day with employees who loved their jobs and the people at the resort! It was great and they had activities to do both day and night for all ages! Our room was nice and cold and always cleaned. There were a lot or beach chairs to sit in and the pools were GREAT! The bars were fun with swing chairs and everything was bottled (water, soda, and Ice was in a bag) so need to worry about getting sick! They have bottled water everywhere and a mini fridge in each room stocked with water, soda, and beer! The beach area was really rocky but beautiful and good for snorkeling. Bring water shoes! Have fun, it's Great!
all inclusive is not always the best way to go. The food was ok....nothing spectacular. The drinks aside from the one flavor of beer were watered down. The pool had a lot of floating yuck in it. The night time entertainment was very limited. The night club a joke. you have to pay for internet (oh there is free internet in the middle of the reception area, but it is so slow you lose where you need to be.) The staff works long hours, morning to night. The time share people are on property and always hounding you....the spa is nice, but once you get in, they immediately start trying to upsell more things. The resort credit is also a joke. You can not use it as you wish, 20 here, 40 there, 10 here...not 200 on one thing. We used 40 of the 200.....even then, they didn't ask me for the coupon.
We loved Sunscape! The food was great especially for all-inclusive. Drinks were fantastic. All staff very friendly and respectful. The room was so so but you're not there for the room right?! Having said that the pool was great and beach to die for. On site snorkeling is incredible. Sting rays, barracuda, starfish, tropical fish all right there. Some of the complaints I've are ridiculous and at no fault of their own. Like checking in... standard check in time is 3pm. It's that time for every single hotel. You know why??? Because rooms have to be cleaned after checkout latest is 11am we all know that. They don't have 1 housekeeper per room! I think it's a bonus and treat when you can get into your room early. Put your suit on and hit beach! That's what we did. I also read someone had something stolen.. there's a lockbox, use it! They get reset for each guest. I kept expensive jewelry, cash and passports in the safe. No problem. Sewage smell... yes you get a little of that. A lot of resorts have that faint smell or musty smell. Not a huge deal. Only "issue" that was slightly annoying is that there was a busted pipe in from of our room with a giant puddle we had to leap over going in and out but whatever. Overall we really enjoyed our time there. Staff, food, beach, cocktails all fantastic. And no the drink and beer are not watered down. You'll be buzzed off 1-2 cocktails and beer gets poured right from the can.
