The Sunscape is an amazing hotel that offers great value. The resort offers various different amenities and has amazing and knowledgeable staff. The dive locations around this area is unlike any other. For those looking for a vacation where they spend more days out and about should stay here.
This resort definitely grew on us the longer we stayed - and by the end of the week, we wish we had booked two.The main negatives were the basic run down rooms, which disappointed me. However, the maid was great, which saved it really. Our jacuzzi wasn't working and the bath leaked a bit - but nothing major. The food was very samey and whilst the Mexican night food was outstanding there was not a lot of variety. The last negative from my children was the kids' club was a bit poor. They did not run to the times or schedule that was advertised and the staff did not seem to want to do anything. I was secretly quite pleased as they spent more time with me!Positives are the fantastic entertainment staff who work all day and all night. Fantastic entertainment like volleyball, darts and football competitions, bingo and water aerobics. At night there was a fire show, Mexican dancing, Mariachi and Carribean to name a few. The entertainment staff were great at involving the children and adults in dancing and it was fantastic. One night they organised a camping and movie night for the kids which went down well. The snorkelling was great and we really enjoyed the three reefs trip. We also went on the Atlantis Submarine trip which was great. The spa treatments were the best we have ever had. If you go to a breakfast with a rep from the discount vacation club they will give you a $250 US voucher and we spent that on a couples massage and hydrotherapy treatment. Absolute bliss. A really enjoyable holiday with a hotel in a great location. It is currently undergoing a lot of refurbishment so I think it will only get better.
I just returned stayed for a week with my family of 5 ( 3 teenagers ). First the highlights: The staff was very nice and they work hard. Cesar from the entertainment department is absolutely awesome! He made my kids trip fabulous, this guy loves his job and Sunscaoe you are lucky to have someone like this. He gets the guest into it, and is personable he remembers your name. He works from morning till night with a smile. Another employee at the front desk I believe named Pablo was also very good, when I didn't get rooms close together he made it right he upgrade us into a family suite, this was a very unexpected upgrade. Location is fantastic, great snorkeling, a walk to playa Mia and Carlos and Charlie's. Rooms need an update but overall clean, and spacious. The Fire Show was great, one of the best ones I saw. Pools very clean, they cleaned them daily. They asked once about time share once we said no we were never asked again they don't pressure you. The gym was pretty good but I was disappointed that Pilate and yoga classes were closed all week. Don't listen to other reviews about core teen zone if you ask they open it and it's a great space for the teens. Cons: Not enough variety in food choices. is same exact buffet daily, and same thing for dinner. By end of week I couldn't wait to eat somewhere else. If there were more choices this resort would quickly move up to 5 stars. Patio restaurant and Seaside grill were ok but again lack of variety. They need more choices, like a seafood night etc. Food was probably the worst variety I've ever had at an all inclusive and we've stayed at plenty to judge. Food quality is ok. The entertainment needs improvement. We saw the same show twice. Need more variety. Bring bug spray the bugs at night are bad. The vendors they bring in are way overpriced, I purchased an item after negotiating for 45 dollars and then saw it downtown for 10 dollars. The resort credit dollars are for the spa that is very overpriced we didn't use them. Overall a was a good value for the money and they had construction going on which tells you they are working on improvements. Improve the food and you have a 5 Star resort.
We just got back and had a great time. I could be on a shack on the the beaches of Cozumel. BUT for the money, you can do better. The staff at check in were amazing. The cleaning service was mediocre and they had major issues with the food services. The only restaurant I would reccomend is Modern Market for breakfast and the Patio for lunch and dinner. Do not go to seaside grill. The entertainment was ok and I do think that you can do a lot better for your money. It was the talk at the tables. And the general agreement was no one is going to come back. I hope you read the reviews before you book. And these reviews are accurate
My wife and I spent a week here in late June early July. We were very concerned about the recent reviews which had been mixed. Our room was older but clean. Air was ice cold and the fridge was stocked daily.Food was not very good. When your cooking for the masses I realize its going to be bland. The nightly themed dinners were good. We had a beach night, a Caribbean and a Mexican night which were all good. The nightly entertainment was good we enjoyed the fire show the best.Staff was all very helpful when we had any questions or concerns.Beach was very nice we enjoyed the snorkeling. Overall you get what you pay for. Last year we stayed at the Valentin in Riviera Maya and it was a 5 star. this is more of a 3 star and that's what we paid for.
Not the greatest stay. Food was mediocre. Beach was rocky within steps of entering water (deceptive because it looks lovely outside the water) which was shallow and uninteresting to snorkel. Outdated rooms poorly maintained. Showers were cold when they'd work. There were lines at all the bars and no wait-service and grumpy bartenders. Definitely won't go back.
