Sunscape Sabor Cozumel
- What's Included
- All Inclusive Features
The Sunscape is an amazing hotel that offers great value. The resort offers various different amenities and has amazing and knowledgeable staff. The dive locations around this area is unlike any other. For those looking for a vacation where they spend more days out and about should stay here.
The location of incredible. South west side of island. Smaller resort and the service and staff outstanding. All inclusive. Couple of things. The food was not so good. Breakfast buffet was ok. Sunny side grille was consistently poor. We did get pizza to go at Marino’s and it was frozen quality at best. Our too. Was superb. Oceanfront and large. Very comfortable. The pool was cold so we didn’t go in. The water was warmer! The bars were convenient however they are very light on alcohol. I had to oversee each drink they made and ask for more alcohol. 1/2 shot or dash is norm. No quality alcohol either and I suspect liquor may be watered down. Just a hunch. Beer is ok. If quality of food and alcohol is not important and you are looking for location and quality of staff I highly recommend. Would I go back? Absolutely. But I’d eat out more. I like authentic Mexican good and you’re not going to get it here.
Extremely disappointed this time round. Third time at this resort and still some enjoyable staff but there is a terrible theft problem there. We had 3 rooms for our family where we had a phone, dive watch, cash(taken out of safe) and some of my daughters clothing stolen from our room. Our friends joined us 2 days later where his phone and cash (out of safe) were stolen. Security did an open and close investigation which doesn’t prove who is going in and out of our safe or room. Result was the offer of a discount at spa, unexceptable! While being overheard talking about our misfortune other people approached with their lists of stolen property, finding at least 9-10 other incidents that we heard of. We love Cozumel and that’s why we return there for our vacations but this is a situation that will ruin its charm quickly if not taken seriously. On a lighter note the older staff that I see year to year are still as pleasant and the guys at Dive Palancar are tops(Luis, Alex, Jorge and a shout out to Gustavo for his intro to diving for my kids, they loved it)Please fix your issue Sunscape!
Unfortunately, this resort is not a place I'd recommend to anyone. The rooms are in need of updating. The staffing in the restaurants is lacking. We waited way too long to be served on several occasions. The alcohol is watered down. They seem to have enough staffing in the lobby to try and sell you things but not in the service areas where the patrons expect it.We asked for coffee in one of the lounges and waited 45 minutes. It never came and we left. There are many other all-inclucive resorts out there. Try something other than this one.
Overall I liked it - 3.5 out of 5 stars. Every other all-inclusive I've been to gave me so much frustration but this was lovely without most typical issues.Area: Really beautiful views everywhere. Gorgeous colors in the water, and great sunsets - Photos: check out my IG for more Visit50. I'll also be posting on Visit50The sand is just ok - it's a manmade beach with imported sand. Don’t expect the beautiful white sand beach sand. It's not possible to have both snorkeling off the beach and beautiful sand. The water is gorgeous.Food & Drinks: Drinks - unlike my last all-inclusive, drinks were never watered down and they have name brand liquor (Bacardi, Smirnoff, et al). Food is adequate - it was right at my expectations. For an all-inclusive, this is a complement, as I've been disappointed with every I've been to until this one.For breakfast the omelet is move — but if you go 8-10 the omelet station always has a huge line. Why don’t they set up a 2nd?Wifi: the "Free WiFi in the lobby” is terrible and false advertising. It drops out after 2min or less and has to try to reconnect. Guests were loudly frustrated - one was nearly yelling aloud. It’s definitely deliberate, to get guests to pay for wifi. The Paid wifi works great everywhere I tried it - pool, beach (!), restaurants. Costs = ($14/day, $39/wk)Room: adequateBathroom: fantastic water pressure! One of the beds in my room was the worst I’ve ever seen. The mattress was so warped that you’d slide right off the bed. I'm amazed that they'd put this in a hotel room -I wouldn't have accepted this if it was a loner in a dorm room. Fortunately there was another (I told them about it)Staff: Friendly! You certainly get the impression this is emphasized. responsive staff - I asked the maid for water - 8 bottles were in my room when I got backGuests: expect lots of kids and families. The property is connected to Secrets Aura, which is adult-only so that draws the adults only groups Entertainment: I didn't meet any travelers that actually liked the entertainment. Also, if you're hoping to meet folks at the bars, good luck. It's dead by 11ish. But
AMR has some great resorts and the quality of the food is always very good, however, at this location we found the variety to be not the best, especially for lunch. Shrimp tacos are always amazing! There are several pools at this property the main pool just off the lobby has the most horrible and uncomfortable sun loungers ever, we literally could not lay on them. The smaller pool on the other side of the property has much nicer loungers, go there. The beach water access is very rocky, so if you plan to swim you will need to wear shoes or attempt to find the small spots of sand to balance on your way to deeper water. If you decide to go to the UVC pitch or tour, be prepared to spend a half a day, they will say an hour, but it will not be an hour. If you are really not interested in the offer, just say no to the presentation up front.
