The Sunscape is an amazing hotel that offers great value. The resort offers various different amenities and has amazing and knowledgeable staff. The dive locations around this area is unlike any other. For those looking for a vacation where they spend more days out and about should stay here.
My husband and I were married 5 years ago when this resort was own by Wyndam resorts. Now it is owned by Am resorts. We decided to go back for our anniversary, even though it was owned by a new company. How much could it have possibly changed? When we hot there is wasn't time to check, no big deal we headed for what was the adult pool. We were stopped by a say saying do not pass, exclusive club, ok. So at first glance no adult only pool/area. So we went to the main pool, lots of families there. We finally checked in our room, it's clean, nothing special. We spent that day by the pool, with frozen drinks. The next morning we were give $200.00 in "credits" ! We were excited thinking we could use all of them towards a couples massage. Oh No! It was $10 towards a bottle of wine, $40 per person for the spa and so on! Next they told they were going to take us to secrets their adult only resort for breakfast to see the resort. Ok cool, quickly we realized this was where we really were married. They gave us a long sales pitch on there exclusive hotel club that would put us in debt by $49,000 dollars. While they gave us the sales pitch they kept rubbing in the salt into our wounds, that secrets would have been the better choice for us. It took the 3 sales people to get the hint we were not buying. They did give us $150.00 in resort dollars, so we rented a jeep! They have a second pool we went there once and asked for a blue Hawaiian the bar tender said no I can't, after we waited to order a drink. We waited not because of other guests, but because the bar tender and another employee. The restaurant were ok, nothing special, the only real complaint I have is at times they forgot our drinks, so when they started bringing food we had to remind them. The nightly entertainment was really geared up for families. We did enjoy fire dancers and Mexican night. This is an ok resort, I do not recommend this resort for couples looking to get away and romance. This is good for families!
We had a great time celebrating a friends wedding along with all of the great activities put on by an entertainment staff member, Cesar! He was awesome! I definitely recommend staying at Sunscape sabor resort!
We stayed as a family of 4 (2 adults & 2 kids 6 & 8) We arrived at noon so our room wasn't ready. At 3pm we was upgraded to a junior suite, (originally booked a suite) At first I was unhappy, as the kids only had a sofa bed apposed to a queen bed (which is in the suite) This was soon changed, & they put 2 small free standing beds in & took the sofa out....perfect! The rooms are a little dated & could use a refurbishment. We had a good room location near to the small family pool, although we mostly used the beach & larger pool. Our kids loved kids club. They got to play on a play station, did face painting, shell collecting & there were movie nights for the kids most nights, which meant we could have an evening meal on our own. The food is good, not the best I've had at an all inclusive, but I never have high expectations anyway. The beach area makes the place amazing! The ocean is turquoise & so clear. Although a little rocky, it is worth it to see the beautiful schools of fish in such shallow water. Snorkelling here is the best! We also did the banana boat & parasailing which was fun! All in all a great place for families & worth a visit!
We have travelled extensively in Mexico: Cancun, Riviera Maya, Puerto Adventures, Playa Mujeres, etc. While this resort is not luxurious, it is clean and small and easy to access and find your way, and the ocean front rooms are literally RIGHT ON THE BEACH! When arriving the check in staff was amazing and was able to provide me with a room in the section I requested, in the 2800 building. I mean, we could place our shoes, etc. on the stairs going down from our room and walk right on to the beach. The room was smallish, but we requested additional chairs and hangers, and they promptly provided them. We were cozy with a family of 4, but with the extra hangers were able to stash everything so that our suitcases were empty and we were able to "put everything away." The only negative things were that there was no buffet for dinner, so for kids, that meant a wait and not easy basic food choices. My daughter wanted to make a salad from a salad bar each night and that was not possible. When my husband and I travel alone, we do not prefer to eat dinner at a buffet, but with children, the basic options and ability to eat quickly are nice. The breakfast was good and if you go early and sit outside, it is amazing because you are so close to the water. The wait staff at the Portofino were wonderful and so friendly. Also, if you want a cappuccino, they can do that, just ask. Lunches were really amazing at Portofino, but no swimsuits. Worth drying off and going there. You can eat at the pool grill and get pretty good quesadillas and nachos. The beach is not as long and sandy as in Cancun or the riviera, but it is not little rocks, there are big rocks you can walk around if you look. We wanted to snorkel and with a smaller child, it was awesome to be able to see so much right off our own beach. If you are a diver, all the great dive sites are close and there is a dive shop on site. Definitely rent a jeep for a day or two and drive around the island. Do NOT miss Coconuts or Albertos. Both of those places are worth the jeep rental. I would go to Cozumel and rent a jeep just for the mojito at Coconuts! All and all, my whole family enjoyed this vacation.
Room with ocean view. Excellent sea life right off the beach, a small artificial reef - part of an old pier - has multiple species of fish (over 10 that we have been able to see and film). Saw an eagle ray right off the beach in the evening. Small rays in the shallows as well. Filmed them with no problems. Resort has some wear visible, but makes up for it by friendly staff. Waiters at the buffet and restaurants are friendly, excellent with kids and accommodating. Mexican restaurant was very good. Christian - waiter at the Mexican restaurant was very good. Our son liked him a lot. Kids loved the morning buffet. Overall very good experience. We have stayed at fancier resorts before, but the sea life, the staff make this resort well worth a visit. Kids 6 and 12 did not go to the kids club (which was available), and spent their time in the pool. If the parents were busy. Safe. Definitely would recommend going on a snorkeling trip to the reefs - many vendors offer these trips.
