The Barcelo Huatulco staff are excellent! From the front desk to the room service, guests are treated very well. Most of the rooms are ocean view and very large. The beach area in front of the Barcelo is beautiful and clean with not a lot of harassing beach vendors. The dinner buffet could use a bit of improvement but is definitely not bad for an all inclusive resort. Not a lively resort, but the bars in town are only a short $3 cab ride away. Barcelo Huatulco is a great resort for rest and relaxation.
A great place to get away from the hectic life. It's an older resort, yet still very clean and cared for. Very kid friendly, its a destination for those who live in Mexico as well. Would recommend this resort. The beach is amazing, clean and great for the kids and anyone else who loves the ocean and sand. Staff is friendly and very helpful. We were with a corporate group as well. They put on an evening for $20.00 a plate that was outstanding, complete with all the decorations (oceanside), waiters, linens, for about 90 people. Meal was excellent. We went all inclusive, food was good.
The Barcelo Hualtuco is amazing. Can't say enough about the property. Waitstaff waitresses and management. Amazing. Property is spotless and a smile on every employee on the property. If I could give it a 10 star I would. Miguel. Oscar Mylyan Harman to many to name. Tours are amazing. We used Arturo Martinez. Incredible professional and knowledge of every destination. Very dependable. Contact him before you go. BZ
Stayed here with my family 12/31/16-1/7/17 and have no complaints. Rooms nicely remodeled, good working AC, flat screen tv, etc. probably not the best drinks & food that we've had, but we always had a full belly. Beautiful views from resort. Swimmable, clear beach. The beach down have a downward grade toward the bay with course brown-ish sand. Dreams is next door. Would return.
Booked a holiday thru Sunwing Dec27- Jan 3. Flights and transfers were all good. Group of 4 adults and 2 teenagers. CHECK IN: A bus load of us arrived at the same time. Went to a separate area for check in; all offered a cocktail ( first time anywhere), 3 ladies checked us in, went very fast. Bellmen took our luggage to our room. ROOM: We got adjoining rooms like we requested on the 4th floor with a view of the adult pool and the ocean. Adjoining door had to be pried open by maintenance, worked fine rest of time. We had a king bed while the kids and grandkids had 2 doubles which were a bit small for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Plenty of storage. Air worked great. Room Renovated. Great shower. Electronic safe big enough for iPad and wallets. Flat screen tv. Snacks in mini fridge( another first) along with water, juice, pop and beer. Refilled everyday. Towel art 3 days( another first) . Maid did great job, usually done by lunch. FOOD: Buffets were usually cold unless you stood in line for omelets, grill meats. Food was labeled. Lots of adults ate from the kids section: fries, spaghetti, chicken nuggets. Went to Italian alacart twice. Second time food was cold. Service at meals was all over the map. Most servers very friendly but some very slow. Very unorganized at supper buffet. Never sure what time it opened, sometimes you waited for table, other times walk right in. Ate breakfast and dinner at La Tortuga, supper at Dona RosaDRINKS :Like most all inclusives, order same drink 10 times, usually taste different each time. Never held back on the alcohol, sometimes drinks were wicked strong, lol.ENTERTAINMENT: Went to see entertainment every evening except on New Years Eve. WAY!WAY!WAY to loud. Hard on ears. Need to dial back the volume. Shows were 9:30 to 10:30. Other suggestion: change order of shows, 3 in a row were the same sound, got repitious. They have a bar and popcorn while you watch. CLEANLINESS: Resort very clean other than public bathrooms especially by the pools. Sensors don't work on toilets and they're hard to push the button. Needless to say, toilets got full and GROSS. Also the men would stand in the women's bathroom and wait for them to finish while cleaning the bathroom....... Put up a sign so no one comes in!!!BEACH: Had a big slope. Waves of various size. Trench in water within a few feet . LOUNGERS: Plenty of them. Towel game in full force which was no big deal for us. No towel cards to worry about. Plenty of them.ACTIVITIES: Always something going on by the activity pool. Only 2 basketballs for the whole resort. No snorkelling equipment. Hobby cats, kayaks, few boogie boards. Ski jets to rent. Banana tube to ride on, 200peso in am, 100 pesos in pm,.6 tennis rackets for 3 tennis courts. Mini golf . Games room indoors which didn't open til noon. Jewellery store and gift shop. NO free wifi, go to coffee shop across the street, although didn't miss the Internet at all. Fed the fish by Dreams. Got feet therapy by the "Doctor Fish".NEW YEARS EVE: Put on a big event for New Year's Eve. Very disorganized. Go there and told we needed tickets, knew nothing about it, was told we were to be told when we checked in. Finally got a table(101). Other than one alacart only place to eat at. I believe they were also selling spots to out of hotel guests also. Saw other guests pissed off also about the organization of it. Had a band playing. Fireworks at midnight. Gift of soaps left in room . Free draws for prizes by pool during the afternoon.SMOKING: smoking was allowed everywhere outside except by the kids pool. Also on the balcony. People didn't give a damn about anybody else. Groups of 4 and 5 would continuously chainsmoke. Pity for you if you were downwind! Smoke would also blow into lobby bar from outside thru open windows. Some days were ok but other days you spent it in second hand smoke. BARTENDERS: Very hard working and friendly.MONEY: Bought pesos for trip. Jewellery store took American money but gift shop only took pesos. Could get pesos at front desk. EXCURSIONS: Went to La Crucecita for shopping one day, took cabs, no problems.SUMMARY : Lots of sun, lots of fun, food so so, entertainment WAY too loud. Would return to Huatulco but not to this resort. Most expensive trip we've taken but alas second worse trip we've ever had to an all inclusive. Barcelo does a lot of things well but when they drop the ball do they ever!
Once again we had an amazing stay at a Barcelo resort. This was our first time to Huatulco and we Loved it . Food was good and staff were Amazing. We really enjoyed the snorkeling right out front of the resort, and seeing numerous Spotted eagle rays.Only 10 min taxi ride to Crucecita.Beautiful scenery. We were there without our kids but if they were there they would have been dissapointed that they couldn't play Beach or Pool Volleyball. It was for adults only. That was the only negative thing we could say. It wasn't the staff fault, they were just following the rules. Would definitely go again. Shout out to the following staff who made our stay great! Entertainment staff : Javier and CarlosBeach/Pool bar service: Alexander, Ivan, BenjaminLaura: Front deskThank you all!
