Our Opinion

The Barcelo Huatulco staff are excellent! From the front desk to the room service, guests are treated very well. Most of the rooms are ocean view and very large. The beach area in front of the Barcelo is beautiful and clean with not a lot of harassing beach vendors. The dinner buffet could use a bit of improvement but is definitely not bad for an all inclusive resort. Not a lively resort, but the bars in town are only a short $3 cab ride away. Barcelo Huatulco is a great resort for rest and relaxation.

Beautiful Huatulco

Other than the ridiculous saving of chairs at 5 am, Barcelo is an excellent hotel. Pablo and Oscar in Club Premium were efficient and professional. Miguel, Ivan on the beach were excellent servers. The food in the a la cartes as well as buffet was always hot, tasty and had lovely presentation. The hotel is clean and safe. This was our third time to Barcelo and 5th time to Huatulco.

Would definitely come here again - but free wifi would get me there faster

Resort - clean, well maintained, lots of staff working hard. We did not buy the premium package of $35 US extra a day. This would have given us access to premium alcohol, and slippers in the room. Not worth it for us, but would have been nice to drink Coronas, Baileys, and Grey Goose vodka..but will drink that when I get home. If it was an extra $100 for the week I would have done it, but not an extra $245 US. Drink the mini bar Coronas!Rooms - robes!, safe in room, all rooms seem to be ocean view, very clean and not at all dingy looking. Not afraid to drop my clothes on the floor, or walk around barefoot.Service - Excellent! Staff never expect a tip, was even served many times while I was in the pool cooling off (clearly I didn't have tip money in my bathing suit). Restaurant staff were very friendly and happy to serve.Food - Buffets were always amazing and had different food all the time. A la cartes were like going to a classy restaurant. Meals were amazing and presented beautifully.Disco - luckily there was a large wedding party staying at the resort the same time we were, and we like to party, so it was nice to have a full disco with people who wanted to dance, sing and drink. Disco is small, but makes sense for the type of people who typically vacation at this resort.Safety - when you leave the resort, you have to give the guards your room number. I liked this, so they can keep track if you don't come back! Taxi drivers were amazing and didn't hesitate to offer to stop at tourist areas to take our picture and help us in and out of the car. The downtown seemed pretty safe, and locals were respectful when we went to shop.Beach - It was nice to hear the waves at night, and they waves were fun to play in during the day! The undertow is pretty strong, so if you are injured at all or aren't really stable, I wouldn't go in the water unless there is a green flag up. Many people were tossed around by the waves, and we saw on my occasions the life guards running towards people who just couldn't get up. Once you pass the part where the waves crash, it's like a wave pool, but getting in and out needs to be very strategic.Weather - hot hot hot! Not a drop of rain. I travel a lot south, and always tan well, but I would suggest a 50 or 60 spf. I brought 30 and burned every day. I also reapply all the time, so I think it was the strength. Burning leads to peeling and flaking when you get home! Best to be slightly golden than red and fla

Vacation 2016

Love, Love, Love this Resort and La Cruzecita. Have visited 3 times now, but will miss this year as my vacation time is a bit later. This is always our first choice but will be trying the Barcelo Colonial on the opposite side of the country this year.

Wonderful week at the Barcelo Huatulco!

Just returned from a 1 week stay with our daughter, son-in-law and their four boys. We loved the weather, water, pools.....all excellent. Everyone works very hard at this resort to keep things looking beautiful. Hats off to Cirilo and Celso for their excellent service as well to Juanita and Carmen who serve you with beautiful smiles and great service. There was lots to do here with 4 small boys. Food was good but you need to be there when the buffet opens to avoid lineups. Will definitely return.

Firendly and helpful staff made our vacation wonderful.

The hotel is wonderful and extremely clean. The staff are all great and eager to please. This was our first trip to Huatulco; the beach sand is coarse with the grade into the water is quite steep. Non swimmers and those with mobility issues will not be comfortable getting into the ocean. Once in the ocean, the water temperature is perfect. The buffet was well appointed; the choices abundant, the food always fresh and well presented. We will definitely be returning to this gem of both hotel and location.
