The Barcelo Huatulco staff are excellent! From the front desk to the room service, guests are treated very well. Most of the rooms are ocean view and very large. The beach area in front of the Barcelo is beautiful and clean with not a lot of harassing beach vendors. The dinner buffet could use a bit of improvement but is definitely not bad for an all inclusive resort. Not a lively resort, but the bars in town are only a short $3 cab ride away. Barcelo Huatulco is a great resort for rest and relaxation.
Went there for a wedding last weekend. Stayed a couple of days. Friendly staff, nice, clean rooms with good a/c and remodeled bathrooms. The hotel looks a bit dated but everything works great. The pool area is spacious as is the deck area in front of the ocean.Only setback is the beach, but that is not entirely the hotel's fault. The beach area is quite small and you're right in the ocean, meaning that you can't really relax there. The hotel has two souvenir shops which are decently priced. I know this because I forgot my shirt for the wedding back home and ended up buying a new one right before the ceremony. I'm happy with the shirt I bought. All in all, a pretty good place to stay. Mind you, it's definitely family-oriented. If you're looking for an intimmate getaway, there are other options in the area.
Truly a wonderful week at the Barcelo Huatulco. Clean clean clean! Much needs to be said about the great staff and their efforts to ensure a relaxing time for all guests. No issues at all with our room or any of the offerings of the resort. The beach area was kept very tidy and one soon learns about the steep beach entry and undertow. Very good food options available and all A la carte dining was excellent. The only minor detail was they obviously ran out of Crown Royal whiskey as we were the last group from Canada to enjoy the week prior to their down season. As Canadians we know the difference between Crown and whatever was being funneled into the bottles and passed off as quality Rye. During our week my wife whom is Asthmatic experienced the need to call the Doctor for an antibiotic and he was exceptional, very thorough and very professional, he came to our room to tend to her, and the front desk staff arranged delivery of needed meds. Truly a great week and we would recommend this resort, quiet, very comfortable and seven days of pure sunshine. We returned relaxed and fully feeling our money was well spent on this vacation. Thanks to all staff at the Barcelo Huatulco.
My family and I had a great time in this hotel. The rooms are very clean and well decorated and in good conditions, the beach and ocean is great. the personel is very friendly. The only problem is that you pay for a all-inclusive but when you get there, in front desk the personel tells you that it DOESNT INCLUDE FREE WIFI and that you have to pay extra if you want it, also it doesnt include all the beverages, only national product. You can have 2 days of free wifi but its limited, it didnt reached the room!!! its not worth the money to spend for the "premium" all-inclusive. Really don´t waste your money, unless you want to drink international beverages. The shows are interesting and a great way to do in the night if you are staying in the hotel.
Is was our second trip back to Hautulco Mexico and to this hotel. We were not disappointed. The area is beautiful and the Barceló hotel did not disappoint. The staff and service was some of the best we have experienced in all of our travels. We would highly recommend this part of Mexico and in particular, this hotel.
We were assigned a room on the 3rd floor but during the night some girls from LA made it uninhabitable by their loud voices and lack of consideration for their neighbors so I had them move us to another room the next night.Food was good, fresh orange juice a real delight where it's so hot and humid. Bkfst. buffet very good and service by Daniel Martinez was excellent, always with a smile. Dinner in the Spanish restaurant was very good, the Italian trattoria not so much: chef needs to learn how to cook Italian, parmesan cheese missing, without that you can't serve Italian and cannelloni was a very poor imitation of the real thing.Very unhappy I purchased the "Premium" pkg. which turned out to be nothing at all. We were supposed to receive a bottle of sparkling wine which never arrived. Someone should be held responsible for this if you're paying $50 extra per day, so don't even bother. There's nothing special about it.The Mexican floor show was very good with the dancers sweating tremendously to deliver the program: they are to be commended. One thing I found very upsetting is when you come in to the buffet, it's on a multi-level configuration, why any architect would do something like this is incomprehensible, sure the place has been there for almost 30 years, so it won't be changed. But I never saw a restaurant where people have to stand on a staircase to get a table. My wife has problems walking so doing any kind of staircase is not possible. We sat outside and I did the food selection to take away her in ability to deal with the different levels. No one ever thought about the elderly or people with mobility problems. One last thing, if you don't want to be surrounded by little kids, this isn't the place for you. Next time I'll do a better job on my research.
