The Barcelo Huatulco staff are excellent! From the front desk to the room service, guests are treated very well. Most of the rooms are ocean view and very large. The beach area in front of the Barcelo is beautiful and clean with not a lot of harassing beach vendors. The dinner buffet could use a bit of improvement but is definitely not bad for an all inclusive resort. Not a lively resort, but the bars in town are only a short $3 cab ride away. Barcelo Huatulco is a great resort for rest and relaxation.
This was our first time in Huatulco for my husband and I. Heard a lot of really good things about the Barcelo and had read nice reviews about this hotel. We were there from April 18 to 25. Check in was okay, stood in line for maybe 20 minutes. A cocktail was handed out to all of us waiting. I didn't care for the hard sell on upgrading to the premium level which would have cost us an additional $77 US per night on top of what we had already spent. We declined and just got the blue bracelet instead of the gold one which was the premium bracelet. Our room was on the 3rd floor with an ocean and pool view. Was amazing to sit on the small patio and look out at everything. Another guest had mentioned to us that she was told if you took anything from the minibar and then it was filled up they would charge you for what you drank. We only had a few things from the minibar and we were not charged any extra. That was not explained at all to anyone at checkin. I did find the rooms very clean, beds were comfy, pillows were nice. We did have 2 beds which was fine also. Shower was awesome.Service was amazing. Everyone works their butts off especially the waiters and bar staff. Big shout out for excellent service: Luis Figueroa- always had a big smile on his face every morning when we went for breakfast down by the beach.Mayren C- She works in the lobby bar and by the second night she remembered that my husband drank gin & tonic, She was fantasticAlvaro Garcia- OMG he was the cutest guy, he looks like a young Bruno Mars. He was amazing.I found the food really good. There was always lots of fresh salad choices, fruit was very good. Eggs in the morning were made to order. Lots to choose from, plenty of options for everyone.I did find it very dark in the hallways at night. The lights were on a sensor and they took a few seconds to kick in. There was not any lights at the doors which made it hard to see where your key card went in.Turns out we were the last group of Canadians at the resort for the season so between Sunwing and the Barcelo there was a goodbye/ thank you Bar-b-que thrown for everyone. The food was amazing, entertainment was great and then there was dancing. That was a blast! We did do 2 excursions- First one was the falls, that was amazing although the road was awful. Saul Toledo Alvarado was our driver/ tour guide. He was fantastic. He talked about the area, culture etc and was just a great guy.Second tour was a boat one. Water was a bit rough but we saw turtles and dolphins and all the great beaches. In a nutshell it was an awesome vacation! Can't wait to go back!!
The staff is very good I recognized quite a few from the previous year specially Epifanio Mendez great service and very knowledgeable with what the hotel offers. I am planning to use the Barcelo Huatulco next year.
We were there for a week during April 2017 and we all (family of 4 with kids) loved so much our stay. Checking in was a breeze, they received us with fresh towels and drinks, got a room facing the ocean and a palms garden, away from the noise of the pool. Very clean, not luxury facilities, but recently renewed. All inclusive plan includes all 3 meals; they have these 2 different buffet restaurants for breakfast and lunch with what I'd call "foreigner-safe" food. Not entirely mexican food, with a few exceptions, but good overall. They even offer burgers and hotdogs if that's your preference. For dinner you can select the buffet which tends to be more mexican-sea food or do a reservation and go to the either mexican, italian or spanish restaurants. Reservations have to be done earlier in the morning to secure a place. All 3 places offer a tasteful variety of food, luxury type. The beach is incredible gorgeous and clean. Right side tends to be steeper, so you'd prefer the left side. All personnel is to welcoming and friendly and they will receive you with an smile and a greeting every time.Pools, they have little kids, families and adults pools, very well taken care of. Bad, the little shower zones at the limit of the beach, they get crowded. They offer a 35us/day package that includes other amenities, like extra drinks (found that my package did only include red label whisky, p.e.) , extra mini bar, fax ??, and stuff like that that you may want to consider.
Me and my dad had left for Huatulco on Sunwing on April 11th. We made it to room 418 in the afternoon. This room's door was very hard to open, because it had been broken before. Side note, if you're an aviation enthusiast like me, planes fly over the hotel on landing.Positives:- Rooms are clean- Service is friendly- Air conditioning- Three pools; family, kids, adult- Lots of activities such as sailing, jet-skiing, etc.- Beach is beautifulNegatives:- Wifi is expensive- Some of the staff don't speak English, making it hard for the Canadian tourists and the Mexican staff to communicateThis hotel is definitely worth it. I would recommend
It is our first time ever to Mexico and we were very pleased to have chosen to go to Huatulco. We stayed at the Barcelo for one week and here are our thoughts:Transfer to Hotel and Check In: Our Sunwing Reps Jonathan and Rafaelo were great. Checking in was a breeze; we were greeted with a refreshing drink.Room: Very pleased with the location: third floor facing the pools and good view of the ocean. Very clean, and the bathroom facilities were all functioning well. No problem with the air conditioning. It had 2 double beds which we didn't have a problem with, except that it is too small for a couple to sleep on.Food and Drinks: Not great, but not bad either. 3 stars out of 5. Ate at the Mexican, Spanish, and Italian restaurants; satisfied with our meals, but the pizza needs improvement. The buffet was good. If you want to taste the alcohol in your drink, ask the bartender for "double" and he gladly obliges. Housekeeping: Excellent. Very, very clean. The employees work very hard to keep everything clean. Wi fi: Very spotty in room. Should be included.Staff: Special mention to Ricardo Morales, Cirilo Martinez, Celso Bohorquez, Marbella, Hernan Perez, Bibiana, Mayren C. They all did a great job serving us with a smile and a warm welcome everytime we encountered them. If I may give suggestions, please relax your pool policy so older teenagers who are too old for the Kids' Pool are able to swim in the Adult Pool. Also, please stock your First Aid kit adequately. I needed a tensor bandage and the kit does not have one. Consider having 2 Queen beds instead of Doubles. We enjoyed our stay at the Barcelo and would recommend it to our friends and family. Please commend your staff accordingly as they are a valuable asset to your establishment.
