Our room was perfect for us. On the third floor, away from the stairs. Quiet and clean. Everything worked and was exactly as we expected. The staff was EXCEPTIONAL and the food in the restaurant was always perfect. Every staff person went out of their way to be pleasant and helpful. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. One of us (named on the reservation) arrived before the other (after a long bus ride) just before check-in time and wanted to access the room. This created some discord until some other staff person resolved the issue. By the time I had arrived it was all smoothed out, mostly. The delightful service the rest of the week made up for itThe location of the hotel worked well for us. We enjoy walking and the tree lined central avenue to the city square (15 min) was pleasant. One close beach to walk to that was nice (8 min). Others a bit farther, all were an inexpensive taxi ride.Without exception we found the locals to be warm and inviting (speaking Spanish helps). We chose to manage our own trips to the caves, nature park, and other beaches by hiring a driver and did not use any of the group tours. Its a bit adventurous and a few dollars more but made the time more enjoyable. There were a few other hotels we had considered and I am overjoyed that we picked this one. I can not imagine a better vacation experience.
I can't say enough about this hotel. We just arrived yesterday. I had forgotten a prescription at home. The gal at the front desk made some calls, found a pharmacy and found a taxi to take me there. That saved me so much time and frustration!
My wife and I stayed here Nov. 13, 2016 to Nov. 26, 2016. My overall impression is this is not 5 star hotel. It is a 3 star Hotel that tries to give you a 5 star service. We rate it a 5 star for the overall experience. I would recommend this hotel. I will be returning. Hotel and grounds are very well kept. The service staff were always friendly.Thank you Sheila, Lala, Javier, Jorge, Candy, Heidi, Javier (younger). The pool was clean and a nice size for the hotel. The room itself was of a 3 star but nothing I can complain about. Room lock on door and safe deposit box. They have different size rooms available. If you can not walk ask for main floor rooms. No Elevator. 3 stories. Some main floor rooms have a patio out by the pool. The food was very good. Must have the Mahi Mahi fish and lobster. The breakfast was buffet or made to order. I would recommend you get the breakfast with the hotel. Great location. The hotel is a couple blocks to the grocery store and other amenities. It is 10 to 15 minutes walk from center of La Crutecita and Santa Cruz. 5 minute walk to Playa (beach) Chahue. If you can not walk take a cab. Cheap to take a taxi. 30 peso to Santa Cruz and La Cruticecia. 60 peso to Playa La Entrega and Playa Tangolunda and Playa Bahía El Maguey. 300 peso Playa San Agustin had the best snorkeling. Crazy dirt mountain roads to get there. LOL even tourist buses go down this road. They are cementing the road-very slowly. Tips- Get the breakfast with the hotel- Great food.Places to eat- Out favorite place to eat was Terra Cotta- Everything was great to eat- air conditioned- up scale dinning. Giordana's Italian resturant- Excellent food. Small eating area but the food makes up for it. La crema bar- Pizza odd hours, dark lighting, hippy atmosphere and great view of the town square. El Grillo Marinero is a seafood restaurant. We had shrimp here it was very tasty. Autenticos tacos al pastor huatulco is like a place to eat outside on Boulevard Chahue. 5 tacos for 39 peso- very popular with the locals.Cheap and good food. No English menu.Mama Elsa Hamburgers south of hotel. Great burgers. Do not let the first looks discourage you from eating here. We had great food here. Burgers and ribs. Word of mouth favorite for tourists. Chedraui Huatulco the grocery store- Has place to eat inside. Also take home cooked rotisserie chickens like at costco. Liquor and beer. If you like Corona go a few blocks down to the Corona store $1 beer. Beaches- Playa (beach) Chahue. Across the street. It was ok. You dont have to go through Latitude 15 Club de Playa to access the beach. You can buy beer and food here and use their chairs if you want. Public beach access right next to club Latitude. Playa Bahía El Maguey is similar to Entrega. We liked the atmoshere and the food was good. Many Resturants alone the beach. We found the water had more debris and ok snorkeling. Our Favorite was Playa La Entrega and Bahia Tangolunda- 60 peso taxi- stay at La Entrega on the beach restaurant- great food and beer. Good snorkeling and atmosphere. Bahia Tangolunda beach access drop off by taxi is next to the golf course and you have to walk to the beach down a path. Kinda felt unsafe walking to the beach. Wooded area. Dreams and Barcelo all inclusive here. No access to the beach through these hotels. There is an island you can snorkel around. Which was cool. Just the access sucks and no place to buy beer and eat.
Incredible staff, amazing food and such a relaxed atmosphere. Better than home away from home. Did I mention affordable too. We expected to have breakfast and then buy lunch and dinner but the breakfast buffet was so amazing that we came away stuffed and didn't need to eat again until dinner. We went to town and for dinner a couple of nights but you really could just eat there and get amazing food and a great value. I'd go again
That hasn't already been said by other reviewers? We were so very sad to leave today after a 5 night stay. The best parts:- our room was naturally cool, so we only used a/c at night. - the entire property is spotless - everyone who works there is hardworking, friendly, and seems genuinely interested in the guests satisfaction. Service is a little slow, but you're on vacation, so who cares?- food is delicious (that breakfast!) and very well priced. The fresh fruit was a big part of every day, and they will make you smoothies too. One of the cooks even let me help her make tortillas, which were fresh made every morning at breakfast. We had dinner there several times, and while it was quite simple, it was well prepared. - several evenings had live entertainment, which was so much fun. Some of the staff even did a little salsa dancing. I wish I was brave enough to join them! - the pool area was lovely, and a very relaxing place to spend some time. Kept very clean, and a place for families to gather. Tips:- if you want a fridge, just request one, and it will be brought to your room. - if you want a place without kids, this is not the place for you. That being said, all the kids were really well behaved and happy. - get to breakfast early, it gets quite busy. I loved the whole family atmosphere, and just the general happy vibe. I just can't say enough about this place, and I would love to go back.
