My wife & I had a great room #3207. Room had lg. balcony & overlooked lush garden with many birds. the staff were eager to please & friendly! tips were greatly appreciated. The Mexican fiesta on sat. was awesome. Picture a highly decorated Mexican square with food stations all around. The evening ended with a marvelous performance of Mexican dancing. Highly recommended.
This was our first time going on an all inclusive and I was very excited just to be let down. we were given the impression that we would have a variety of food to choose from through out the resort. We found all three restaurants to have the same buffet. There were mostly chips with different sauces and not much for meat available. On one of the morning buffets they offered ham which was nothing more than bologna. we spent three days being sick from the food which didn't allow us to enjoy much of our vacation. we paid for all inclusive and ended up eating off the resort. To top that off they had construction going on in rooms next to us. I feel like we wasted a weeks vacation and Apple Vacations didn't even want to hear about it.
We take a big family vacation about once every 5 years and came back to Ixtapa after not having been here for 15 years. To our delight, it has not changed much. We decided to go all-inclusive this time since our kids were older and of drinking age. It worked out very well for our family. The food, which seems to be the issue with most reviewers, was fine. You have to remember that Ixtapa is a vacation destination for mostly vacationing Mexicans and the food selections caters to that. We found it refreshing to be eating authentic Mexican food for breakfast and lunch (dinners we always ate at a local restaurant outside the resort). The only suggestion I would give is to have fresh fruit available ALWAYS. That should be a staple on every buffet every day, breakfast and lunch. The drinks were also good but would prefer larger cups than what they offered (good idea to bring an insulated mug so you can consolidate a few into one). Bartenders were friendly, except for one in the sports bar...wish I remembered his name. One night there was a Mexican Fiesta dinner in the courtyard, and what a presentation that was! It took them literally two days to set up and we were not disappointed. Again, authentic Mexican fare for dinner with different food stations scattered throughout the courtyard. Very impressive. The pools were nice but was not a big fan of the "shallow" pool. We spent most of our time at the "quiet" pool and it worked well for us. Didn't appreciate that they allowed smoking poolside but they did a pretty good job of policing that and other unwanted activity. Pools looked like they could use a little cleaning around the inside rims....kind of a slimy ring around it. Rooms were nice and cleaned well. Nice soaps and hair products. Can't say enough about Jorge at the front desk. He was very accommodating with my family and went out of his way to provide my wife with tips for running and swimming during her stay. When we told him mid week that we were eating dinner off site, he offered to have the chef prepare a special dinner for us. We did not take him up on the offer but the gesture was very kind. The hotel location is perfect. Outside the hotel we found many restaurants and sports bars. Our favorite was Casa Morelos. Also close to the market where my wife and kids spent some time shopping for souvenirs. The only excursion we took was to Ixtapa Island. Unfortunately, it was the weekend of a Mexican holiday and it was packed. We had fun snorkeling but it would be best to avoid the weekend there. The best part of the vacation was the beaches and waves. We spent a lot of time in the water but were smart enough to stay out when the waves got over 20' high. The beach is great for walking and it took my wife and I about 75 minutes to walk it from end to end. Overall, a very nice vacation. Not a place to go if you want all the comforts of home (US), but that's exactly what we liked about it and why we plan to come back in the next 5 years again.
This is my second time staying at this hotel.I stayed for 3 weeks from march 1 to march 22/17And what i can tell you is this hotel has probably the best grounds and location on Ixtapa beach. It may only be a 3.5 star hotel because it is old but the staff working there make it a 5 star. All the staff work very hard to make you feel like you are part of their family. As far as the hotel goes the tower rooms are fantastic! They have been renovated and all have incredible views and private balconys. The garden view rooms need some updating and i understand this is planned for the off season. The hotel in general as well could use some fresh paint but other than that the grounds are fantastic.WayneVancouver Canada
Ixtapa it's a great place with one amazing beach, the hotel was average but the food was terrible, the breakfast was ok but lunch and dinner was really disappointing, it was a business trip but i will never pick this place for holidays.
