Our Opinion

Solid 4 stars for this property... definitely not a 4.5 or five star! The staff were excellent and food was good. It's an older property which needs a face lift, especially the lobby (very unattractive) and rooms. Overall, it is a good hotel but far from 5 stars, as some companies rate it. Still a good choice if the price is right.


Overview

A tropical playground nestled between the Sea of Cortez and the Sierra de San Lazaro Mountains with stunning views. The amenities, facilities and excellent service combine to make the Holiday Inn Resort Los Cabos a beachfront resort with something for everybody.

Location: On the beach. 20 min. from the airport, 3 min. ride to San Jose del Cabo, 30 min to Cabo San Lucas.

Note: Strong currents in this area limit ocean swimming.

Good Stay

Not a big fan of Holiday Inn but this place was decent. I was not very happy with original room assignment but staff were happy to change it. Clean and quiet with a nice beach. Food was ok. Lots of activities.

Relaxing, enjoyable stay

Our first stay as couple of winter-weary Canadians left us with a good impression of this sprawling, older, well maintained resort. Our room was spacious and had a view of the main pool, the beach and ocean beyond. The furniture was a bit dated but the king bed and bedding was very comfortable. Check in and check out was a breeze.The food, although not exciting, was fairly good with healthy choices at all meals. The only disappointing meal was the Wednesday fiesta in which most of the food was cold and unappetizing - which was unfortunate since the event was laborious for the staff to set up and execute. The staff was courteous and helpful -the servers, housekeepers, the front lobby staff - all made our stay in this little sunny paradise relaxing and stress free. We hope to be back.

Less than you'd expect from a four-star

It was nice enough, the rooms were clean (albeit the daily cleaning was VERY late in the day and the maid was watching soaps when we returned around 4:30 p.m.), the views fine. The food was fine, but nothing spectacular, not even at the higher end restaurant where you must reserve a table. The bar staff were super friendly and liberal with their mixing, however, and it's nice to take a dip in the pool every time you need a refill. Lots of sunning and lazing, not much in the way of activity.

good for low maintenance family

My family and I stayed here for 4 days at the end of our trip, we arrived at 3pm to check in and had to wait until 530 to get our rooms. The rooms were nice and clean, although we did not recieve a shower curtain, bath mat or enough towels. We also had a child in our room, which they knew and we did not recieve extra bedding despite asking multiple times. The phones did not work to call the front desk therefore we waited in long line ups to ask for the items we needed (which were not recieved until the last night there, and still no bedding). The facilities on site we're well kept but definitely understaffed. We witnessed many staff members running to meet the needs of the customers. There is one buffet on site that was okay but nothing special. Not much change throughout the few days we stayed and the al la carte was good but there were extra fees for shrimp, lobster, lamb etc. as well as long wait times. We often left the resort to eat in the neat old town of San Jose del Cabo. Aside from all my complaints, the pools and beach were great! The staff were friendly and welcoming but I would recommend skipping this resort if you like more luxuries.

Excellent Resort for the price

I was pleasantly surprised at how nice my stay was at the Holiday Inn Los Cabos. I stayed from Dec 31 to Jan 4th. At first I was very skeptic considering how cheap it was compared to the other resorts but this resort was really nice! The rooms were nice and clean and the resort grounds are lovely with beautiful views of the ocean and pools. The food at the buffet was actually very good and the staff did a really good job of restocking even before any of the dishes got low at all. The food was always fresh and offered lots of variety in the buffet. The buffet was always open and seemed to stay open for most of the day. Drinks were also really good. I always ordered a margarita and did not have one bad drink. The holiday inn margaritas tasted better than the margaritas at the Hyatt which is a way more expensive hotel down the street. The location of this hotel is pretty good and if you want to go to Cabo San Lucas you can walk about a mile and take the bus for 2 dollars or a cab for 40 bucks. Cabo San Lucas is only 20 minutes away. Now for the cons: my check in was completely terrible! It took almost 40 minutes because they did not want to give us the actual room we reserved. We had two double beds and they wanted to put us in a room with only one bed. I pulled up my reservation on my phone and Christopher(staff who was checking us in) still didn’t seem to understand. After handing him cash he didn’t seem comfortable counting it and I’m assuming that that is because there is a language barrier. The hotel is also kind of disorganized with events. On our last day no one told us they were closing the restaurants and buffet and then we found out it was a dinner show on the beach. This was a disaster because it was the only option for dinner and there was not enough buffet lines and it took almost an hour to wait in line for food and the food was terrible! Last, the ala Carte restaurant needs more help. I went after making a restaurant and waited almost 40 minutes before receiving a drink and then when I received my food after taking one bite I left because it was so nasty. So I tried again for lunch and no server came over to me after being seated for over 30 minutes. Bottom line is the restaurant needs more help.All in all this was a beautiful nice resort for families couples and singles. The staff is very friendly and always helpful. I would definitely come back and plan to.
