Solid 4 stars for this property... definitely not a 4.5 or five star! The staff were excellent and food was good. It's an older property which needs a face lift, especially the lobby (very unattractive) and rooms. Overall, it is a good hotel but far from 5 stars, as some companies rate it. Still a good choice if the price is right.
A tropical playground nestled between the Sea of Cortez and the Sierra de San Lazaro Mountains with stunning views. The amenities, facilities and excellent service combine to make the Holiday Inn Resort Los Cabos a beachfront resort with something for everybody.
Location: On the beach. 20 min. from the airport, 3 min. ride to San Jose del Cabo, 30 min to Cabo San Lucas.
Note: Strong currents in this area limit ocean swimming.
The resort was very nice and comfortable. The staff was wonderful. We arrived early and the front staff got as into a room as faster as possible which was very very nice. The cleaner staff was great to us leaving us extra water each day. We love Christian whom directed us to all the beautiful beaches we went to. The waiters were wonderful each day to us and we appreciated how hard they worked to help out everyone. It would have been nice to see more individuals tipping the bartenders and waiters. WE tipped because of how hard each of them work to help us. This resort is very quiet in the evenings in which we could relax on the balcony or sleep. Keep up the great job you are doing.
We first spent 4 days in downtown Cabo along the Marina -- particularly amid the craziness of Medano Beach. But my wife, 13 year old son, and I wanted to package that with 4 days at an all-inclusive where we could relax a little bit more without being hit with fancy resort prices. The Holiday Inn on the fringe of the town of San Jose del Cabo (about 30 min north of the downtown Cabo San Lucas) totally hit the right note!! All the rooms have either a patio or balcony with views of the ocean. Yes, there are some cracked pool tiles and the floors in common areas are worn a bit, but the staff was constantly sweeping and cleaning, and our room was quite nice and clean. Across the board, the staff all worked very hard to serve us at the bars and eateries. Particular shout out to Alan who was super high energy on the morning bike ride, volleyball games, wateraerobics, etc. Concerned a bit that my 13 year old might be bored, he was engaged plenty and made some friends. But like anywhere you go, you must be open to having fun and meeting new people. Beach very different from Medano Beach in downtonwn Cabo which is flush with people and activities. Like most of beaches in this area, the one at the Holiday Inn is declared "unswimmable." The sand beach is long and very wide, but the crashing waves make it worth it to throw a blanket down and sit "above" the ocean -- as the ocean often carves out "sand cliffs." I even felt comfortable going into the water a bit without being pulled out by the riptide, but of course always monitor the conditions. They have a very efficient system for ordering food for lunch at the beachside restaurant -- giving you checklists to order exactly what you want! The fried fish tacos were really good, as well as the baked chicken. Would have liked to have seen a little more variety at the beachside "restaurant" for dinner, but for four days it worked well as didn't feel like we were eating the same food all the time. And could just go to the buffet if we were looking for other types of food. So if your're looking for a huge party late into the night, or to be pampered five star resort style, then you might want to find somewhere where you can pay double or triple. But as long as you have good solid expectations upfront, the Holiday Inn Los Cabos was a really good choice on our part.
First I would like to point out a few shining stars here. Raul (weekend mgr) , Beatrice (front desk), Juan Carlo (pool), and Fernando(restaurants) . These people went above and beyond their duties to make our stay there much more pleasant. The only reason I did not give this resort 5 stars was due to the age of the property. The rooms and furniture are outdated but still very clean. The maintenance workers would work nonstop attending to the landscape and walk ways making sure everything was clean. This went on all day everyday from early morning til late afternoon. They worked so hard and I could see that they take pride in their jobs. Everyone there should be commended for their hard work. I typically frown upon all inclusive resorts as there is usually a take away somewhere ( food quality, portions, drink quality, etc). I can honestly say that I was blown away by the quality of food, portions and drinks available. Every item from the fish dishes, to the meats and desserts were absolutely fantastic,,,,, breakfast was my favorite. Being a Spire elite member and having stayed at many IHG properties all over the world, I will put this one at the top of my list for repeats. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for making this one of the best family vacations we have ever had.
This resort was very nice and quaint. It's dated, but the staff and service was awesome!! The views were really nice and you can relax in the hammock listen to the ocean. I really enjoyed the relaxation at this resort. The food was okay, but need some spices added to it. It is very budget friendly and the pools and staff are professional and great!! Always serve you with a smile. I would definitely visit again if bringing children and on a tight budget.
Our stay was awesome. The rooms were very clean, air condition very cold and the beds very comfortable. The cleaning staff even surprised my husband with balloons and a cake made out of towels for his birthday. The food was excellent both in the buffet and in the outside restaurant. Our waiter, Tino, at the outside restaurant, was great. He kept our drinks coming all night. We asked for him every time we were there. All of the staff was very friendly. I don't have any complaints at all!!! I would highly recommend this hotel. AWESOME VACATION!!Belinda R.
