Avoid this pit

Substandard rooms, no a/c remote, no TV remote, horrible road noise, marginally furnished, the refrigerator has broken shelves and the staff is surely and unreasonable. Aside from that it’s allllll good...

A great holiday until last 2 days

We are leaving the resort tomorrow Feb. 17. There were 16 of us and all enjoyed the resort, yes there were some mixups with some meals in the ala-cartes but the staff are new with some language problems but tried very hard to please. As far as the road noise a barrier is being built which will cut down some the traffic noise. My only complaint is they allow smoking around the pool area and in the lobby. The non smoking rules are not enforced. Also there was a large convention (was told it was a Colgate company gathering but not sure) that would throw peoples towels etc. off the chairs so they could take them and would smoke at swim up bar and in the hot tub. If anyone said anything they would threaten to beat them. When reported to management they did nothing.

Overall good resort

New resort with above average food and premium liquor. Friendly hardworking staff, beautiful grounds and beach. Pros: easy to get to from airport (20 minutes) good food choices at resturants. Recommended Tapas, and lobby bar. Reservations are needed at all resturants except grill and buffet. Beach area is nice, vendors on beach but dont approach you. Staff to bring drinks. This is a very quiet, laid back resort. If your looking for night life not the place. They do have music, karaoke some evenings. DJ on beach was fun. Cons: little touches are lacking. Light bulbs out in stair cases, bathrooms. Language barrier with some staff is very prominent. Dishes left out in hallway for days. Had to ask to have room serviced each day while we stayed. Hard to get water in room. BEWARE!!! when you check in they say you need to speak with someone at another desk for dinner information. This is a ploy to sell you timeshare!!!! Dont go unless you are interested. Close to San Jose del Cabo, shopping and food choices are there but limited. 30 minutes to Cabo san Lucas. Shopping, food and overall vibe is a little more exciting.

Beware of Sunwing/ Krystal resort! Los Cabos,

Daughter arrived yesterday with boyfriend at Krystal thru Sunwing. They are off resort in a residence building, when booking they asked for a pool view or Gardenview. They were told get that at checkin. They have to walk to resort to go to pool, eat etc. VERY VERY POOR PEOPLE!!!!!Have a look at the booking site, shows resort with pool and on right side of page has residence room as a choice! No pictures anywhere!! Or disclosures that they are where they are and what they have to do to get to resort!!!! The review for residence room does not indicate that the building is a separate building altogether and are off resort and need to walk to resort for everything There are also no pictures of any residence rooms!!!They have now lost 1 day of vacation and now need to see Sunwing rep this morning to straighten this out!! What a S***** show!Our family has travelled extensively and booked thru several types of online routes, so not unfamiliar with booking online. Very discouraging, Hoefully Sunwing/Krystal will pick up their socks and make it right by getting them something they were looking at and with some compensation to boot! Like a free excursion etc!!, Hint,Hint!!Wifi’s is hit and miss there so doing this for them!

The vacation as a whole was good. However, there were many glaring problems that we experienced at this hotel. Below I have given point by point issues. Suffice it to say, this property is not a 4.5 or 5 star property, thats for sure. In my opinion it is a 3.5 to maybe a 4 star depending on the day. Air Canada vacations to me always had good ratings for they’re vacations. This one is off the mark.- The lack of even trying to speak english was evident which made it difficult at times with waiters and other staff.- Room was fine. I really have no issues with the room.- Other than the Japanese restaurant and coffee shop, the other restaurants were really disappointing. The service, or lack there of, was terrible.- Had to wake up at 5:30 every day to get chairs at the pool simply because there was not enough chairs for the amount of people at the hotel.- The Buffet restaurant was probably the worst I have ever experienced in our travels to Mexico or the Caribbean. Lack of selection, size just to name a few problems. If you are looking to order an egg white omelette, don't. Just not worth the frustration.- Had a plumbing problem 2nd day and I do not think we had anyone came to room at all during the holiday. I wound up fixing it myself. Even though I called at least 5 times. Each time it was the stock answer “ 10 minutes”. Really!!- This is just a suggestion. They really need to look at putting together some kind of entertainment at night. I have no problem being quiet since this is what my wife and I are looking for on a vacation, but I am sure there were many people who were just bored after dinner. Zero life after 8:00.- The biggest for me was the traffic from the federal highway. I did not really think about it before the trip, but now I know why so many issues on TripAdvisor. That highway they are on is really a noise machine that you definitely can here from the room. Not so bad late at night but starting at 4:00 am it starts.- Ocean View. For the most part all the rooms at the actual hotel are ocean views. So to pay for upgrade, this was just a cash grab. From what I saw, most of the rooms overlooked the ocean. Some were better than others, but I think 80% of the hotel had ocean views. We were had the option of paying $1700.00 pp for ocean front, which was a separate building on the beach. Very nice but I can assure you not worth the money in my opinion.- They tend to stick people in what they call the Residences. This was a different building that was separate from the hotel. Many, many problems with people going in there. It’s a far walk from reception and this was a big issue among people from what we were hearing. From what we heard, people who were first there all complained and then had to be given rooms at the hotel.The actual town of Los Cabos was pretty cool. We did not go in until the day before we left and I think that was a mistake. We should have gone sooner. However, the town was 30 minutes away and $40.00 each way would be pretty expensive to go in more than once. I thought hotel was closer, but that is my fault. I will say though, our beach, again in my opinion, was one of the best beaches. Walked it many times and was nice. Of the 10 days we were there I think we only had 4 that were full sun and hot. The other days were very cloudy and gloomy. This is something were have never experienced in our travels before in that area- Also there is a nice kids pool, but no kids go in it. They are all in with the adults doing what kids do. Busy BusyI do not see us visiting this hotel again in the future, but definitely will go back to Los Cabos again.
