Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Resort and Spa

Pro's:Absolutely beautiful resort with amazing views of the pacific ocean.Beautiful beach and the sky pool is awesome!.The Gym/Fitness center is Excellent! The best Japanese restraint I've ever eaten in at a resort in Mexico.Con's:This is not a true all inclusive. There are a few restaurants that are not included ( the Steak house for one) as well as the chocolate shop at the market. You have to sign your bill / cheque for everything you get including a simple bottle of water or a beer. Sometimes this is quick and easy and sometimes its not.Waiting to sign your bill after every meal is tiresome especially for an all inclusive. Be prepared. The service is inconsistent. There are some excellent wait staff especially Carlos at the skypool! There are also some inexperienced, slow and not so friendly staff at this resort. We have been to countless resorts in Mexico and know what the difference good service can make. We were a little disappointed here. The buffett is small and does not have bacon for breakfast. We found out 3 days in if you ask for it, they will bring it for you. The food is average for an all inclusive. We've had much better and we have had worse. You cannot swim in the ocean here, don't even try.You need to take a shuttle or a very expensive cab ride to get to Cabo. The shuttle system doesn't allow you to call ahead and book a shuttle, you have to go all the way to the Market. Once there, you book your shuttle and go back to wherever you were and come all the way back when its time to go. First shuttle is 10:00am. Apparently you cannot reserve chairs at the pools by putting towels out. There are signs all over the place and of course this was happening anyway and not enforced by the staff unless someone complained about it.We walked everywhere but the resort is on a hill and if you are not prepared to walk up a bunch of stairs, you will need the golf carts to pick you up and transfer you. There is no amenities ( no coffee, no water, no beer) in the rooms. We ordered coffee by room service every night and then ended up heating it up in the microwave the following morning. (we didn't want to wait for room service in the morning for our coffee). The beds were hard but we ordered two mattress pads and it was fine.We also booked an ocean view room through Expedia. We did not get a room that ocean view for our first night. We did get moved to a better room on the second night though. All in all, the views and the secluded beach, the gym/fitness center and the sky pool hooked us and made it a good vacation. The other items I listed above were more of an inconvenience than anything but being greeted with a smile and having efficient service need to be improved at this resort.
Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Resort and Spa is VERY BEAUTIFUL and a GREAT location to stay while visiting Los Cabos Mexico. It's an all adult & all inclusive resort. All of the staff is impeccable, you could not ask for better service. Ofelia at what is known as the Wine Bar is FANTASTIC!! She is always welcoming, friendly, nice, and very customer oriented. Maricela (I think I have her name right) in Suite Service is also WONDERFUL!! One thing I learned during my stay is to not deviate from the room service menu, keep your order as is. The rooms are nice and comfortable, the balcony has a nice ocean view, pillows are nice, bed is comfortable, shower is nice and big. Also, having the benefit of visiting their sister properties at any given time is great. Also, they provide shuttle services to and from their sister properties and the fact we did not have to pay to catch a cab is also a great plus. I'm not sure about the other properties but this Resorts ATM only gives Mexican Pesos. Therefore, I recommend bringing cash with you. Even though tips are included in the All Inclusive package, you may want to top the staff additional money so I would suggest bringing at least $100 in ones or fives.
So we stayed at the Pacifica over Presidents Weekend for 5 days (2017). This was our second stay at the hotel in the past two years (although we are owners at Noviaspana and Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach). It's an all-inclusive resort, part of the Pueblo Bonito chain of hotels. It is on the Pacific side of Cabo - away from the city and its night life - but it's only a short 10 - 15 minute cab ride into town (cabs are always readily available and is about $15 - -$20, depending on the number of passengers). There are three restaurants on the premises (a sushi place, Siempe and the Peninsula). All three restaurants are solid. You can also go to Pueblo Bonito's other property restaurants. We went to LaFrida at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach twice during our stay and I have to say the service there was spectacular (everytime we go to Cabo - we make sure to go to LaFrida). It's probably the best "fine dining" restaurant in Cabo and again - the service is absolutely spectacular (everyone is absolutely great there and they all deserve accolades). Now back to the Pacifica: Check-in was a bloody nightmare! We originally booked an Ocean view room. Prior to arrival, I corresponded with the hotel and upgraded to a suite for a substantial upcharge (no issues with that - quite easy and they corresponded very promptly). We arrive at the hotel and the original checkin went smooth until we went to the room. The gentleman who helped us with our luggage takes us to our room - and it's the room we originally booked - not the suite (I even asked the woman who assisted us at the front desk if it was the suite and she said yes). After speaking with the front desk from the room, we waited 10 minutes (as instructed) - no call back (and the gent who helped us with the luggage is still with us - and he was great - wish I had his name) - so back downstairs to the front desk. Speak to the front desk mgr - who then proceeds to tell me she needs to speak to her mgr to determine the cost for the upgrade - even though I have an email from the hotel with the additional cost per night (no explanation and the front desk mgr was EXTREMELY LESS than courteous - Im leaving out her name here, but I will send a note to the hotel to complain about her). Forty minutes later, they finally get everything straightened out. So to summarize our front desk experience - the front desk makes a mistake, I have what they need in form of written correspondence from the hotel, and not only do they make us wait but I also get talked down to by the front desk mgr - not an auspicious start to our stay! The hotel is an adults only hotel, but it is NOT a big party hotel. It's pretty mellow and definitely not for the those who want to party like a rock star. It's perfect if you want a romantic get away or something that's usually quiet. and if you want to party, just take that short & cheap cab ride into Cabo - best of both worlds! We ate b'fast everyday at Siempe and the buffet was solid. The service was extremely good. We had different waiters every day, but they were all very kind. Our hostess who sat us every day - Esmeralda ( hopefully I have the spelling correct) was so friendly and kind. We also ate dinner and had lunch at The Peninsula and the wait staff was good. The food is okay (but do NOT order the pizza for lunch). We had a beach bed almost everyday (it rained one day) and Marco was our waiter there. He was extremely courteous and attentive and we only have superlatives to say about him, great guy! The food from the poolside restaurant is actually really good - fish tacos, the ceviche, burger and shrimp cocktail was all very tasty. And Again - Marco was great. Now - the best for last! With a suite comes butler/personal concierge service. We had Manuel - and quite honestly he made our trip! We have had rooms with the personal concierge or butler service before (even here at our prior stay) and to be honest, they were generally useless. Manuel was the complete opposite - he was simply fantastic! Within one hour of arriving (and we are by laying poolside) - he finds us. He took care of our every need and then some. He not only bent over backwards, he bent sideways & front ways. I cannot say enough about Manuel, except thank you for everything my friend! We will return to the Pacifica - but our only condition is you'll have responsibility for our suite (Yes he was that good!). One last thing - I know this is an all inclusive and they indicate tips are included, but please tip all your servers, maids and butlers/ concierge service.
PBP A pleasant crew of workers. The multitude of sister affiliates throughout Cabo is desirable each with it's own different flavor and uniqueness. We visited the Rose resort for the night life. Amazing! I must say the assortment of theme eateries make for a party in your mouth on various days of your choice. Compliments to the chefs as the food in all regards was great. We had a ball on business!
I placed a lot of value on the reviews that I read here before we traveled so I'll try to give as much detail as I can; in the hopes it may help you. I have previously stayed at the PB Blanco (right next to the PB Rose') and PB Sunset and have seen about everything that they do in Cabo.We were at Pacifica for two weeks - end of January-early February. Had a great time-- It is without a doubt my favorite of the PB resorts in Cabo. We went the all-inclusive route this trip and upgraded once I got there to an executive suite that comes with the butler service. The Pros:1) Overall the staff is Great! Very well trained and hospitable. If you can, I highly recommend the butler service. This was something I wasn't sure that I wanted to do when I was thinking about upgrading but in hindsight was the most fortunate aspect of my dealings with the resort. All of the butlers I saw were great but I will personally insist on securing Feliecano when I can return. In many ways, he was the reason that this was our best trip to Cabo.2) Restaurants are very good for an all-inclusive style resort. All three main restaurants have a wonderful atmosphere and great presentation, this is especially true for dinner. Portions (like most fine dining places) can be a bit small for a big-eater (like me). I just ordered two appetizers or one with a salad and got along fine. If you don't mind travelling off site all the PB restaurants are available on the plan and most reasonable people will find something that they like. Steak house has great meat (there's an up-charge of $35 but I didn't have a problem getting my money's worth out of it) Overall the wait staff is very accommodating and energetic. Some watiers and hostesses I personally would ask for are: Siempre - "Judy," Esmeralda, Alan and Yesi the omelette chef. Pescados ask for Hugo and at the pennisula insist on Hector. In the cabana beds and or around the pool find Sandra or Blanca.3) The setting and landscaping are absolutely perfect. They might have the hardest working facility staff I have ever seen. The place is literally reborn every night. 4) Has a great "get-away-from-it-all" feel to it. Spa is perfect. Staff is amazing - My wife had three massages and I had two while we were there -- If you use the spa make sure you deal with Fernanda and tell her you want Celia, Oliva, Betty or Paty (who just might be the best masseuse on planet earth!) Butlers can get you an extra 25% off the advertised price btw.5) Doormen are professional, welcoming and make sure the taxi drivers and shuttle people are doing you right. It will be worth your time to get to know Audel. Safety and security are not even a consideration while you are at the PB sites and this is especially true at Pacifica and/or Sunset.Cons:1) It is a timeshare property so you are gonna have a hassle with it. Now, to be fair, there is less hassle at Pacifica than anywhere else and is limited to when you check in and get your all-inclusive bracelet. Personally it doesn't bother me much and I always go to the presentation. PB is pretty professional about it and they always have kept any deal I have made with them on incentives for going to the sales pitch. It takes about 2 hours and this time I got about $1200 in taxi rides, activities and cash. It doesn't hurt my feelings at all to make $600 an hour to say "No" a few times, just enjoy the time and get to know the salesperson.2) They didn't have the right room for us when we got there but we were shown a much better room for an "upgrade charge" etc. etc. I heard this from other people around the resort while we were there. Seems they have a little "bait and switch" thing going a little bit. This was no problem to me because I had planned to "tip" my way into a better deal any way. Of course the thing to do with this is to not get upset and all in a hurry to rest but to act interested but say no until you believe they are at the bottom dollar and then tell the guy showing you the room if he can get it for you for another 25%-40% less then you will give him a $100 bucks. Tell me what happens next?3) The place is full of American tourists! I have traveled the world over and I am always amazed at how childish, spoiled and simplistic my fellow Americans can be. Nine out of ten of the staff are hard working and very attentive, but if you're the type of person that sets down and is instantly pissed off about something, then you don't need to travel anywhere, much less Mexico. Also, Pacifica is an adult only resort so people can chill out. If you want "loud" you need to stay on the main beach in Cabo, if you are a 35 year old frat boy or sorority sister who is trying to hold onto something that you never had anyway then, you will not like it here. Just sayin'.Other Notes:1)Whale-watching this year is great! 2)I didn't fish this year but guys told me that the bite was on big time! Saw two of the biggest yellow-tail tuna I've ever seen at the marina one day. In Closing, Can't wait to my next to Pacifica!3) Edith's is still great - Los Tres Gallos is still the best value and food in Cabo - Try Thres Islas(sp?) (The Three Islands) seafood and Pollo De Oro if you want real local food.Cant wait to go back -- Hope this helps and have a great trip!
