Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Resort and Spa
- What's Included
- All Inclusive Features
This hotel is a scam. We paid in advance for round-trip shuttle service to the airport, but they refused to transport us back to the airport, claiming we were "late," even though we were on time. They refused to refund our money and we had to pay double for a cab to take us. To make it worse, they simply shrugged their shoulders and smirked, knowing that there was nothing we could do. This, after our entire stay was marked by incredibly slow and never-on-time meals, room service, and shuttle service. They were also very aggressive about selling services with extra charges - the spa, upgraded meals, additional activities, constantly pressuring us to spend money beyond what was included in the all-inclusive package. We were patient and generous throughout our stay, but the airport shuttle scam was nothing short of fraud. Will advise our friends to avoid this resort.
On this trip we stayed at the montecristo, which I will review separately. This review is for the wonderful crew of the food and beverage department at the Pacifica. Obet, who is in charge of this department has completely transformed the restaurants and now added a wonderful cooking class that is gratis. He is such an asset to this property I hope they know it. We had so much fun today picking the fresh herbs in their garden and using it in the dishes that Adalid made in front of us. The fresh, healthy food choices are combined with hand picked wines for each course. The sommelier, Hugo is very knowledgeable about the wine and has wonderful taste. Ricardo is in charge of the new restaurant and he is charming and hospitable. We love it here and it is due to the wonderful staff.
I visited Pacifica last week (just got home yesterday) and feel compelled to write a review for those contemplating a vacation to this incredible resort! I traveled with my daughter (27) and my brother and sister-in-law (both 57). We had rooms across the hotel from each other but the property is so well laid out that we were only a minute away. I could actually see their balcony from my room to see what they were up to. I love the layout of the resort and how easy it is to get to the restaurants, pool and beach. We chose to spend our time at the front pool which is very mellow and relaxing. The main pool has a DJ and swim up bar so it was cool to visit and hang out but then go back to our chairs and read a book. Like everybody has stated, even at capacity the resort never feels crowded. The staff literally cannot do enough for you!! They bring new meaning to the word "pamper". I was greeted by name from the first day and shown to "my table" every morning at breakfast outside overlooking the pool. My family slept late so it was just me and the hostesses Karla and Jannys made sure I had the perfect view for my breakfast. My waiters Raul, Luis and Braulio were hands down the most attentive waiters I have ever had even at 5 star restaurants in NY. If they saw you carrying your plate from the buffet they would take it for you and bring it to your table. They all remembered every day exactly how I take my coffee (half coffee, hot water and warm milk) and made sure it was on the table when I got back from the buffet. Yelenia "the omelet queen" knew my daughters order every day too (egg whites, spinach and mushrooms - no cheese). It's amazing with all the guests that they make you feel like you are a VIP all day long. I was celebrating my 55th birthday and at dinner I was surprised with cake and chocolates presented in a lovely display. Braulio even sang me Happy Birthday one morning, The guy should be on American Idol :) Make sure to see Ivan at the swim up bar. He has a way of making the drinks so tasty and pretty to look at and is always there with a smile! The hotel manager Adrian is always walking the property and making sure each and every guest is having a positive experience at his resort. I like that he is accessible to the guests and shows his presence on the property. We took the shuttle to the Sunset Hotel next door but were back to Pacifica within 2 hours. The place is built on a cliff so you have to take golf carts to get around and you have to wait for them to come to get you. We were approached by a woman trying to sell us a time share WHILE we were eating lunch!! At Pacifica there are no sales people except for when you check in they ask you if you want to hear the timeshare presentation and offer $400 in resort credit. We just politely declined and were never approached again. If you want to buy souvenirs there is a stand by the front pool and there is a store within the resort. You really never have to leave. We did not go downtown or to any other resort. We did walk down the beach to the Quivira golf course to eat lunch at the clubhouse which was a very relaxing and enjoyable way to spend lunchtime. It is included with your package if you have the all inclusive. They are very clear about what additional charges you would have to pay for dinner at the golf course and for certain menu items and liquor at Pacifica. We checked out with a zero balance on our hotel room bill. Other than tips we did not spend a penny except to buy a couple souvenirs for the kiddies back home. Please tip the staff!! They work so hard and always have a smile and kind word. The gym is outstanding with brand new equipment and a beautiful view of the beach. Also, you CANNOT miss the Sunday Brunch. It is impossible to explain the lengths the staff go to so they can provide an incredible selection of pastries, cakes, Bloody Marys, Mimosas, omelets, ceivche, sushi, and an array of local Mexican favorites. No Pacifica review would be complete without a HUGE shout out to Jefferson at the Acitivity Center. We had the pleasure of going on a private beach walk (just Jefferson, my sister-in-law and I) and he took us on a hike with a group hotel guests all the way to the top of a mountain with 360 degree views!! I took his aqua aerobic class which was not just a great workout but so fun and lively! My sister-in-law played black jack with Jefferson and a bunch of people and said her cheeks hurt from laughing so much. We could hear them hooting and hollering all the way across the resort. It sounded like they had a blast. Jefferson is the perfect person to be the activity director at Pacifica and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting him and hanging out!!I completely and wholeheartedly recommend this resort to those looking to relax and unwind in a beautiful and peaceful setting. I took 199 pictures and only about 15 of them have us in them. The rest are all scenic. You just walk around going OMG what a great shot!!Enjoy!!!!!
This was our second time staying at the Pacifica! It is the perfect relaxing getaway spot! The new addition of the Peninsula restaurant and the new open air bar were wonderful! The staff is very attentive, and the all inclusive drinks and food are excellent! It is a place that you feel pampered and can really unwind! We love the ease of going over to the Sunset for a meal at La Frida! The new market area over there is also a great addition! Thank you, Pacifica for another wonderful vacation!
We just returned from a last minute 5 day trip and we are ready to book again in a heartbeat. By far the most amazing AI we've visited and we have been to a few. Yes, it may cost more than some, but what you definitely get what you pay for. We stayed in a tower suite which was beautiful, but since we never used our living room, I would probably just go for any tower room and ask for anything but the ground floor, if I wanted to save a few bucks. But, it was our anniversary, so we splurged. Oh, I would not splurge on the tower suites with plunge pools, as they are ground floor, no ocean view, and not very private...steps from the main pool. We had an easy pre arranged private transfer from the airport using Cabo Airport Shuttle,(highly recommended). When we entered the resort, Armando greeted us and after a quick check in, we got our wrist bands from the gals at the "concierge". Yes, this is the time they do ask you about a "tour" and yes it is a low pressure time share schpeel, but we just said "not interested" and they were fine with that. We did meet some couples who did the tour and got their $400 credit, but that's not our thing. Armando made our dinner reservations at Peninsula....great meal! Be sure to either make your dinner reservations nightly, or if you have a room with a "butler" (I hate that title, we just called him our "guy") have him do that. Siempre is a great dining spot also. Great views, service, selection (fish is best, as steaks, unless you go to the extra steak house, just taste different). Sunday brunch at Siempra was phenomenal with a sushi area, a ceviche guy, make your own Bloodies and mimosas and so much more. The only place we didn't try on site was the sushi restaurant, but walked by it and heard it was good but it's small and no view. Loved the pool and the swim up bar, especially Ivan. I see reviews claiming water downed drinks. They do measure each shot, but have no qualms when you order a double. If you stay in the Towers, you have access to the VIP lounge. You have to check it out. Open in the morning for light breakfast or pre breakfast snacks,(and champagne) and for happy hour with some great apps and libations. We had one of those beach beds one day, but not our thing..windy and boring for us.We liked meeting people and activity by the pool. Lounge chairs by the pool are hard to find after 10ish. We did put our books and a towel on chairs in the morning, it may seem rude but we did spend all day there. We visited Sunset for Frieda's,(fine, but I thought my meal at the peninsula was just as good with no upcharge. We also visited Rose and Blanca when we went into town. We couldn't wait to get back to Pacifica....it's a totally different vibe. And although they have shuttles, they are complicated at times you have to wait. Unless just going close to Sunset, I would suggest cabs into town...only 14 bucks. The hardest working and genuinely caring staff. We stocked up on 1's and 5's before we got here and although we never felt pressured, we could tell it was really appreciated. At our 5 star dinners with cocktails, house wine, (which was decent), usually 4 or even 5 courses,(appetizers at both peninsula and siempre are awesome...order a few!), we would leave our server $20. We had no idea if anyone else was doing this, but the service warranted it. And come on people.. it is Mexico and you are on vacation...so what if you wait between courses, so what if your meal spans a couple hours....relax, enjoy each other's company. Where do you have to go? We were in bed by 10ish each night...not a party place, but so worth the change of pace. We tipped our "guy" at the end of the stay When he was helping us through check out and I hugged him goodbye . It may not be the resort for everyone, but we loved it.
