Great property for all... families, couples, young, and old. It's very active with a great kids club (water slides, playground, indoor area with lots of activities for kids). It's a medium size resort with a quiet pool as well as a busy pool. Good food and lots to do for everyone. It deserves a high four star rating.
This beautifully designed Mexican/Californian style resort provides impeccable standards of comfort and luxury. Spacious accommodations, great facilities and a beautiful beachfront location ensure success with even the most discerning traveller.
Location: On the beach in San Jose del Cabo, 5 min to San Jose, 30 min to Cabo San Lucas, 15 min from the airport. Note: Strong ocean surf and undertow, swimming not recommended.
This is the place to be if you are a retiree who is ok with going to bed at 9 pm. All the bars and restaurants close at 6pm except for the lobby bar which closed before midnight every night. If you are hungry after 9pm you only have until 1230 to order room service, after that you are out of luck until the morning. The alcohol is very very watered down. The rooms themselves are fine but I was very disappointed by the service, food and entertainment. We were a group of girls in our 30's and we basically left the resort every single day in order to have a good time. I go to mexico every year and never before have I had to spend so much extra money just to get away from a resort to have a good time. The hot tub is luke warm at best and the only good food we had was the pizza bar. All the rest of the buffet food was bland, unoriginal and frankly just not very good. I think the worst part was my last day. I had spent the night at a friend's house and lost my wrist band in the process, I literally just needed to go to my room to get my suitcase so I can catch my shuttle which was leaving within half an hour. The person at the front desk tried for a solid 10 minutes to make me pay $70 to go get my suitcase. Once he finally accepted that I wasn't paying to go get my own suitcase from my room he had the audacity to say "You better be back in 10 minutes". Are you kidding me? Ive spent a week at your resort with horrible service and kept my mouth shut and now that Im leaving your going to disrespect me. I will never go back. Also as a side note, apparently Royal Solaris has the power to remove negative posts as they did with my friends post so I don't expect mine to be here for long but for those who do read it.. beware!
Royal Solaris is our home away from home. There are so many people here who make this place a second home. We love all of the staff (Geremias and Justino are EXCELLENT)! Every single person goes out of their way to make us feel special. I had a very bad sunburn and Victor brought me some vinegar to help. Armando ( who helps in the member area and helps with general resort tasks) is truly someone who makes a difference. The waiter in the premier lounge ( Alberto ) is one of the nicest people I've met. We really love this place and it's the people that make it the way it is. Royal Solaris should be proud of the staff that they have.
A friend and I may not be the perfect all-inclusive resort guests but Gustavo at the front desk & concierge,Vanessa, made the experience & our trip so much better. Unprompted Gustavo called us by name the 2nd day & collaborated with Vanessa to put us in a better room. Good service like that changes how you feel for the entire vacation. Gracias Gustavo y Vanessa!
Fine place if you can relate to this lifestyle:You wake up on a frosty Saturday morning; you pop some Eggo waffles into the toaster for the family. After breakfast you sit down for 8 hours of college basketball; the kids disappear to play video games. Nachos and beer for lunch immediately after your wife heads out to the local mall. Around 6 p.m. You and the fam, iPhones and iPads in hand, venture out to Applebee's for dinner. You fall asleep watching Sports Center while your wife fiddles with FacebookIf this sounds like a good weekend then this resort will be a delightful choice
We booked our trip to San Jose in November and looked forward to a nice break. We booked the Royal Solaris for the first time this trip. This was our third trip to an all inclusive in this area. Pros:The view from our room was amazing. We booked a full ocean view room and it was worth it. We loved seeing the ocean every morning as soon as we woke up.The shower had great water pressure and a nice supply of hot water. The Spanish coffees from the lobby bar were great! This hotel is a less than 30 minute ride from the airport. It was really easy to walk into town and experience life there. The room was clean. The snack bar and pizza shack were a really nice touch.Cons:The food was really mediocre. I am pretty easy to please, but there was very little choice and it was really repetitive. I read the reviews about the food but thought that it would be fine because it usually isn't nearly as bad as reviewed. This time it was true. The rooms were really dated, shabby, and somewhat spartan. There were no pictures on the walls, the dresser was banged up, the drawer and door pulls were barely hanging on as well. The beds were super hard. Very uncomfortable. The front desk was not helpful. We had asked for a king bed with a pullout or rollaway. We were given two doubles. We were put on the waitlist for a king, but didn't get one. All we needed was enough room for three people to sleep. Finally, I suggested a rollaway bed and was given one. Why were we not offered this to begin with once there were no king size beds available? I guess problem solving is not part of the package. We "lost" a pricey sweatshirt. Our daughter had an official MLB team sweatshirt for the trip down. It was on the back of a chair in the room. On our last night, it was a bit chilly and breezy, and we were going to eat outside. She went to get the sweatshirt and it was gone. The front desk knew nothing about it, asked housekeeping and they knew nothing about it as well. It was the first time in all of our travels around the world that anything has gone missing from our room. We have traveled through the Caribbean, Europe, Mexico, and the United States and have never had anything disappear from our room. Very disappointed. We had no maid service one day. My husband had to go find a housekeeper so we could get towels. The whole "members" thing was very odd. It was very obvious that there were haves and have nots at this resort. It was impossible to get dinner reservations or even spa appointments unless you were a member. There was no information as to how to even become a member. I have never experienced such a system. Unless you were a member, the drinks had low quality liquor in them. There was also very little liquor in the drinks. There are no spaces to have a quiet drink or play cards. The lobby bar is the only public space and it got REALLY loud. It was really loud when there were people screaming instead of singing Karaoke. My ears rang for hours because there is not another place to sit.Eating dinner in the theater was really weird. It was like we were at a really big wedding but only a few people were there. There were music videos from the 1980s on a screen. It made no sense why they were playing the videos. Overall, I will not return to the Royal Solaris. No staff member made us feel special or welcome. At every other all inclusive, there has always been someone who seemed to go out of their way to make us feel special. Not so at this resort. Maybe it was because we weren't members.....I am not sure. This resort has a lot of room for improvement.
