Our Opinion

Great property for all... families, couples, young, and old. It's very active with a great kids club (water slides, playground, indoor area with lots of activities for kids). It's a medium size resort with a quiet pool as well as a busy pool. Good food and lots to do for everyone. It deserves a high four star rating.

Location: On the beach in San Jose del Cabo, 5 min to San Jose, 30 min to Cabo San Lucas, 15 min from the airport. Note: Strong ocean surf and undertow, swimming not recommended.

Perfect for mini getaway

Royal Solaris was reasonably priced and was perfect for a trip with friends. The staff was very friendly. I stayed here for 3 nights and they put up some very good entertainment every night. I had heard that they force visitors to sit through their timeshare sessions but we found no such thing. They invited us to attend it if we wanted to in return for tickets to a beach party. Unfortunately the only problem was that the vegetarians/vegans in our group had very limited food options which was kind of a turn down. The pizza bar and the Mexican coffee made at the lobby were however amazing. Overall I would definitely recommend this resort.

Awesome experience!

It was my first time traveling to Los Cabos, November 19 through the 26. The staff was very friendly, the food was great, the entertainment was awesome. Bartender Eduardo was friendly, nice and always made sure we were taken care of. Maite, Memo and Moto Moto from the entertainment team were super nice and friendly, had great activities and shows. Our waiter was Bernabé, he always made sure there was a table for all 10 of us and took great care of us. Alberto from the premier bar was very friendly as well. Cynthia was the housekeeper for my room and always had the room very clean. Loved the experience can't wait to go back!

Furthest thing from All Inclusive!!

If you are a Royal Solaris VIP (a.k.a. Timeshare owner) you might enjoy this place because the entire resort is geared to serving you. However, if you are not a Timeshare owner, like us, prepare to be turned away from specific eating areas, lounges, special dinners and events and even choices on the menu, both food and drink. You will have access to some but only if you pay extra. Like $140.00 US for 2 adults and 2 kids for a Pirate themed beach party. A buffet on the sand watching a poorly presented show was not worth it. Right from the Check-In you are treated differently. 3:00 check in and there is a long line with only 2 people checking in a bus load of people. 45 minutes before we got to our room. VIP's? Right to the VIP lounge with sofas and drinks and countless people helping. At the pools there are different towels for members. The ones we got were okay, but not as good as VIP's and that's the theme the entire time there; this is good but there is better, and they really want you to know that and become a member too. The girls with the 'Trainee' name tags at the front will offer you 'complementary passes' to the shows and the spa, as long as you sit through their timeshare presentation. The large group of staff in the dark shirts to the right in the lobby want nothing to do with you if you don't have the right color of wristband. All Inclusive usually includes some kind of snacks in the room. Nothing here. Looking for robes in your room? That's right, only for VIP's. One afternoon all the phones in the hotel weren't working. Wanted to order Room service for the kids because we needed a break from the pool bar buffet, went to the front and was told they could radio the kitchen and get the order in, but I had to stand in the full check-in line and wait. I don't begrudge anyone for having more than me or being able to pay for something but that's not the case here. We weren't told about this and we paid up-front expecting All Inclusive only to be told 'No' many times over our 8 days here. Ultimately this was a trip with friends and mainly for the kids in our group. The kids all had a blast and enjoyed the trip but they weren't the ones paying so our level of disappointment is valid. We've been to area before and stayed next door and the level of service and what is offered isn't even close. Others in our group have been to Cabo multiple times and said they will never come back to this resort. Read my other reviews and I think it's clear we're not high maintenance or needy travelers. This place is at best a 3 Star resort that thinks it's a lot better than it is. Friendly staff that work hard but it takes more than that and this place just isn't worth it.

Two tiered all inclusive resort.

When we stay at an all inclusive resort, normally everything is inclusive. Here I felt as a second class citizen. Special dining areas, perks and lounges for members-only. There are two restaurants on site with much better food than buffet options. We had dinner there most every night, but you must make reservations by 9:00 am, no exceptions of getting in without reservation or making advance reservations for a different day. Food at the buffets was mostly boring and tasteless, with the exception of a few items like deep fried fish tacos one afternoon. They did have few special dinner events for an added fee of $55 per person. The drinks are watered down, A LOT! Some of the bar tenders will ignore you, while washing glasses or chit-chating with other ko-workers as you wait to order your drink even if you tipped them previously. On the good side, the premises are very nice, clean, with many pools for kids, adults and a Jacuzzi that was very hot and no one would use it. Our room was very nice and the maids were very friendly but didn't speak any English. Beach was nice for long walks, but surf was very rough. I would probably not stay here again because of the resort location (not close to Los Cabos St. Lukas) and the low quality of food and drinks.
