Great property for all... families, couples, young, and old. It's very active with a great kids club (water slides, playground, indoor area with lots of activities for kids). It's a medium size resort with a quiet pool as well as a busy pool. Good food and lots to do for everyone. It deserves a high four star rating.
This beautifully designed Mexican/Californian style resort provides impeccable standards of comfort and luxury. Spacious accommodations, great facilities and a beautiful beachfront location ensure success with even the most discerning traveller.
Location: On the beach in San Jose del Cabo, 5 min to San Jose, 30 min to Cabo San Lucas, 15 min from the airport. Note: Strong ocean surf and undertow, swimming not recommended.
This place was awesome and the kids absolutely loved it and felt welcome also. The staff was freaking incredible. The drinks were fantastic, the pool was fun, the food was incredible and again, the staff was the nicest we have ever dealt with. I took a family of 5 with an 18 month old baby, 3 and a half year old son and 8 year old daughter (who was in every contest possible) and my wife. I did a belly flop contest, sang karaoke, we saw a circus performance, authentic Mexican culture dances, and played beach volleyball. The bathrooms were clean and the restaurants were also very clean, immediately taken care of after a guest leaves, never understaffed. In short (or long), Rod, Rob and Marissa and the Swedish lady (can't remember her name, but she led beach volleyball), all treated my family with the utmost respect and love. We have never been outside the US as a family and these people made it the most spectacular experience in all of my life and now so far, my kids lives. It was a dream come true for my wife and we can't wait to come back regularly and hopefully see the staff again. Thanks guys, it was a blast. -Chris and Savannah
Only complaint and it's small was the man checking us in (Gregioris) ) doesn't smile. It was an easy check in and not one time share person approached us. Our rooms were clean and had a side ocean view which was nice. Drinks were plenty and just ask for name brand and you'll get it. Not sure if it was because of vacation or what but yes they seemed a little weak even when a new bottle was opened but just ask for a double and no problems.Got into the Ala Carte everyday with no problem. Call at 9am and just ask to be put on hold. The only problem is that Panchos is only open 2 days for the week so we did miss it but got the Brazilian Steakhouse Check your schedule and book what you want. The menus are posted everyday. The buffet was fine. Plenty for breakfast and lunch. Yes it was the same but how much can you change for breakfast. Also the snack shack and pizza shack are open. Had some of the best desserts in a long time. No reason to go hungry. If it's bland ask for a little more spice and they will bring you what you want. The pool wasn't crowded and the beach was cleaned. People were in the ocean but not me. Not a brave person.Overall this hotel is great to just relax. Nobody bothered us at all about anything. Everyone was willing to keep it clean and help if you needed something. We were lucky the Ironman was happening while we were there plus the releasing of the turtles. The turtles were released right on our beach and in front of the hotel was a break station so we got to see the people running 26 miles. Would I tell people to go here. Yes if you want to relax. If your looking to party you might choice a different place. All four of us have no real complaints and come home without any problems. My only reason for not giving it a 5 was I just don't give anyone a 5. Nobody is perfect but this was close.
The Royal Solaris is a blast. There is something for everyone. Nightly shows, a welcoming atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. It's location is great too. Manageable walks to grocery stores and shops...but none of this would matter without excellent staff! Here again the Solaris soars. From checkin to checkout. While here I celebrated my 50th birthday and Captain Carlos and his many staff at the Cafe Solaris made it something I'll always remember. The waiters Esteban and Adan (Adam) always put a smile on our faces every day and they will for you too. When you're there.... search them out and say hello. Then kick back and enjoy your stay. We sure did.
Returned to the Solaris in Cabo for annual celebration vacation for my nephew with my sister. Every aspect went well with outstanding care by all the staff, special mention for Angel, Victor and Myra who manage the range of food services from a la carte to buffet style dining. Throughout the week the food was a a consistently high standard, special mention for superb breakfast omelettes and always impressed with the great range of freshly prepared salads and vegetables to complement variety of meats/ fish. We especially enjoyed the Brazilian dinner. Throughout the week there was a range of poolside activities and use of a brand new gym and fitness studio for guests wishing to burn off a few calories in the Zumba class. Again each evening there was a range of entertainment from shows in the theatre, well produced and directed followed by the opportunity for those who wished nightly dancing in the lobby bar, my nephew was an active participant enjoying the live music. The entertainment work very hard throughout the day to offer a programme for those wishing to participate or just enjoy the fun watching. The staff, facilities and location of the Solaris complement each other and we were able to enjoy our holiday to the full, thank you again. We will be back!
To be fair, this was not the resort which we had originally booked for our vacation. The resort we had booked earlier in the year was still under construction six weeks ago so we decided to change to the Royal Solaris as it was the only one that fit the dates and plane tickets we had already purchased. The good: most of the staff were pleasant and the grounds are very well maintained. We would especially like to recognize Guillermo the server on the beach this past week as he was very attentive and responsive. The beach and the pools are not overcrowded although with minimal palapas on the beach, often other guests end up pushing in to your space to get some shade. Although multiple signs say no reserving beach chairs, by 8 am quite a few have towels already claiming them. There were daily beach volleyball games at 10 am and 4 pm which were fun. The new remodeled gymnasium is nice with some newer equipment and we used it four or five days. The weather is beautiful and the ocean views are unmatched. That's all for the good. Now the bad. When we arrived we wanted to use our "RCI Upgrade Option" as we were told this would be an available option for our room. The RCI Upgrade never mentioned the value of the upgrade but turned out to be only $30 and the total room upgrade for the week would have been an additional $200, so much for an "upgrade", we stayed with the standard room. The food at the resort, as others have mentioned, is horrible. The breakfast buffet was the same each day with limited choices. No bananas, no avocados, no guacamole, liquid eggs, no flavor. If you didn't get in early, many options were gone by 9 am.Now, as far as the wristbands and membership. While I have no problem with members getting certain benefits or access to special bars (which there are two), but I feel that everyone should be treated the same. The class system of issuing different colored towels to members and non members can only serve one purpose, to treat some better than others. Members wristbands are gold while others are various colors. Members get better food choices and actually special menus to order from, no wonder our food was terrible, we got the D choices. My wife is a vegetarian and at one of the two a la carte restaurants the soup listed as a vegetarian choice actually lists CHICKEN BROTH as an ingredient. At the other a la carte restaurant (Italian-Marco Polo) not a single main entrée included pasta. I actually got to the point on a daily basis that for lunch I would get a cheeseburger or hot dog at the snack bar for lunch and some lettuce for a side salad as the buffet lunch choices were at times inedible and tasteless. When I mentioned to the sales staff how bad the food was, they blamed it on a new chef and then would agree the food was bad. When we arrived we were given a schedule of daily activities that included Yoga on the Beach at 10 am every other day. Problem was it was at 930 am, not at the Beach but on the second floor over the gym.The room. The bed was as hard as sleeping on the floor and the pillows were as thin as a folded blanket. I actually had a dirty glass and spoon in the bathroom (that I had used) next to the sink that didn't get washed or replaced for three days; just sat there. We finally left it in front of the sink and it got washed . I left a daily gratuity for the cleaning staff, as we always do, in hopes of returning to something special on the bed made of towels or the like, (rose petals at previous resorts, swan decorations, etc), turn down service, something. So for the first three days we got absolutely nothing additional, in fact, we only received a daily turn down service one evening out of seven and on only two days we got two peppermint patties. The other days, nothing, but the gratuity taken. When we did the sales presentation, we said we were not interested in buying but conceded to sit thru breakfast and the 90 minute presentation in exchange for two free massages (on the two for one day btw), tickets to the two dinner shows (which were actually very good) and two round trip shuttle tickets to Cabo San Lucas for a day trip. However when the day came for the shuttle, we were told that four people were needed for the shuttle and we were the only two. My options were to rent a car (not planned on), pay a taxi (we took one the day before on a six mile trip and it was $25 each way so for 15 miles to Cabo would have been more) or we could pay for the shuttle full price of $72 for four people just for the two of us which is what we ended up doing. I did ask since one round trip was originally to be free, shouldn't we be refunded $36 but was told no as there were no other participants. Also the 90 minutes lasted over two hours and by then we were getting upset as we continued to say no. We have done other presentations at other resorts, and 90 minutes WAS 90 minutes. There are some great attractions in San Jose de Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, which we will return some time, there are just many other options for resorts that should be considered. After the third night at the Royal Solaris with an all inclusive package, we ended up going out to eat at other hotels and restaurants which was the best choice we made.
