Our Opinion

Great property for all... families, couples, young, and old. It's very active with a great kids club (water slides, playground, indoor area with lots of activities for kids). It's a medium size resort with a quiet pool as well as a busy pool. Good food and lots to do for everyone. It deserves a high four star rating.


This beautifully designed Mexican/Californian style resort provides impeccable standards of comfort and luxury. Spacious accommodations, great facilities and a beautiful beachfront location ensure success with even the most discerning traveller.

Location: On the beach in San Jose del Cabo, 5 min to San Jose, 30 min to Cabo San Lucas, 15 min from the airport. Note: Strong ocean surf and undertow, swimming not recommended.

Everything was fabulous!

Location, food, staff, and cleanliness of entire complex was all top drawer. The complex has areas for all ages; from babies to old folks. Many restaurants, bars, and swimming pools. The only drawback was not being able to swim in the ocean at that location, although the beach was huge & readily walkable.

Beautiful property and excellent staff

We visited the Royal Solaris in March 2017. We went as a family of 4 and met my parents. Our ages ranged from 10-72. The staff was very nice and accomodating. When we first checked in we did not have rooms together but they switched us the next day.The hotel had a little of something for everyone in our group. We quickly caught on that you need to stake out your chairs at the beach early. I'm never keen on this, but as long as you know the program, I am good with this. You also have to make reservations each day at 9 am for the al la carte restaurants, of which there are only 2, but switch menus for variety. We missed out on a decent reservation time and the Brazilian menu one day, even though we called early. That aside, the food was excellent. We had Jonathan several times at the Marco Polo and he was great!One item that was disappointing was the number of college spring breakers and how they took over the evening bar & were loud in the hallways late into the night. The first few days it was not an issue, but more arrived and it made it so we could not even get up to the bar for a drink and honestly it was too rowdy and loud for us. It would be nice to have a separate area for either them or us to go. I understand that this is not typical, but it was not behavior I wanted my kids in the middle of, and this was at 8 pm. There was some pressure to join a member "selling" tour for some additional amenities, but it was not too much and we did not attend as we typically like to visit different places every year. Our concierge, Juan, was very nice and made sure we were attended to well.It would be nice to have decent wi-fi throughout the property, if only to communicate with each other about were we were.Overall, it was a good hotel and I felt worth the price. The pool was great and we did not take advantage of the kids area but it looked awesome if you had kids 10 and under. We would consider it again if we knew that there would not be a rowdy crowd there.

The Best Family Vacation Ever

This trip was booked with Sunwing back in 2016 February. Our family of 11 had one of the best experience of there lives staying at this resort. This resort was breath taking and had all the eminities you need. I have nothing negative to say. The food was great, the rooms was spaces and comfortable. The staff was very accommodating and entertainment was well put together. Bar service was quick and accurate. The restaurants had tasty and quality food being served. Planning on going back to this resort in 2018. No disappointments. One of the best vacations we all had.

THe Royal Solaris has lost one of the BEST ... Paco Delgado is no longer there.... BIG loss for the Solaris ....

SAD SAD SAD... One of the BEST if gone from the Solaris Paco Delgado...... we will miss him....he was a waiter who loved his job and did his best for us...our vacations will not be the same This is a great loss

Couples trip

Just got back from the Solaris in Cabo. We had a GREAT time and loved it so much we decided to become members. Have mostly great things to say and a few cons which is why the 4 stars. ProGREAT staff. We were greeted the moment we entered the resort and service continued throughout our stay. We were guests of a member and treated well in every aspect of our stay. Honestly, the great customer service and staff is what won us over. Alex, Ramon, Martin to name a few... Superb!The grounds were very clean. LOTS of staff around tending to every detail. Always smiling and pleasant. Food was great. I am a bit of a picky eater, and I never had a problem finding something delicious to eat. No problems with dinner reservations. Loved Marco Polo and the theme night dinners. Beach is amazing!! ConThe rooms - OK. They were clean. Housekeeping was great and fast! However, there is lots of room for improvement in the decor. They didn't feel fresh. Sort of dreary and dark. Most higher end hotel chains now use solid white linens only. I wish they would discontinue the decorator throw pillows and the throw at the end of the bed. We all know that they never get cleaned! I cringed every time I came into my room and saw them placed back on our clean bed. Also, our bed was VERY firm. So much so I ended up sleeping on all my pillows because I couldn't get comfortable. And I love firm beds but this was too much. I think the rooms could use an update with a fresh and more comfortable approach. Despite having designated smoking areas there were lots of people lighting up all over the pool. This is not enjoyable for the rest of us non smokers and our children. No one seemed to enforce this policy.Only 1 hot tub.
