Sunny holiday resort!Service staff always warm and welcoming, food at Italian restaurant is excellent with beautiful outdoor seating.Food at Oceanside grill also good.Skip the Japanese restaurant, no sake, sashimi sliced terribly, cooked food too salty. Nice ambience though if that is what you are looking for.Love the coffee from Coco cafe!Room was beautiful, ocean view with hot tub at balcony! Pity I didn’t get to use it though.Due to the cloudless sunny days, they have even provided SPF 15 sun screen as part of toiletries provided..nice touch!Room generally clean unless you accidentally have to poke your hands into places you won’t usually look at...
Don't forget Los Cabos is in the desert so don't expect a lush tropical setting. That said this is a very well maintained resort with excellent service. Room service is prompt and the food is good. This is a large resort so be prepared to walk in the sometimes very hot sun. If you have any trouble with mobility make sure to get a room close to the main building. There are drivers with little golf cart type vehicles that can be called to give you a ride to any location on the grounds. Not very much outdoor cover from the sun except for large outdoor umbrella. There are scattered palm trees but they offer little shade.Make sure to take advantage of the girlfriends getaway package. It costs $75 but you will get three times that much in services.
Rooms are spacious, with comfortable beds. Property can be too spacious at times, especially from the beach area to our building. Pools are nice, food was very good to excellent at most every restaurant we ate in, service was terrific. You have to get up early to get a reservation at the Japanese restaurant... it's awfully annoying to not be allowed to make that reservation days or at least the night before. I'm on vacation, I don't want to get up early to have a seat for dinner. We had a problem with one of the companies offering excursions... trip was cancelled due to rough seas, but we weren't contacted before we wasted 6 hours riding a minivan to and from the dive center. Check around for suggestions on which provider to use. Also, avoid the free upgrades by attending their "informational morning meeting" It's time-share like, and it's not worth the savings
This Secrets Resort fell short of our expectations. To be fair there were some great aspects to this property however the negative ones were enough to place my review under an "average" heading. To begin, the resort grounds and property were well kept, cleaned and easy to navigate through. The rooms were large and stacked with all the amenities you would need (hairdryer, iron, iron table, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, body lotion, SPF lotion, shower cap, sewing kit, and a shoe polish cloth), and the golf course was amazing. The service was outstanding in the Preferred Section (pool area and staff), in the guest services (check-in/out) office, housekeeping, room service servers, Coco Cafe and the Market restaurant. Service anywhere else (outside of the areas I just mentioned) was average at best, honestly. The worst had to go to the service in the general pool area. It was incredibly slow, no matter how much you tipped, and unprofessional (the pool attendants, servers, bar tenders, etc would spend more time gossiping about guests than trying to work). Unfortunately, the food wasn't ever outstanding and room service was always a miss (the service was great but the quality of food was terrible). The location of the resort is far from the "downtown" or Marina so if you wanted to stay somewhere close to the action this isn't the right resort (try their sister property Breathless instead). The spa facilities were beautiful in design however fell short of the standard it presents. The hydrotherapy circuit is free with any spa services and is basically a sauna, steam room, and three different pools of water with varying temperatures. The valet who took us through the circuit didn't know the right steps so my recommendation is to read the steps (located near the first pool) and do the hydrotherapy circuit on your own. The steam part of the hydrotherapy was awful, the room smelt like mildew and the door would let out enough steam that made it pointless to even sit in there. The massage attendants were very pleasant to deal with but we pretty much paid for someone to rub oil over our body than actually getting a massage. However, like I said earlier the facility itself (minus the steam room) is stunning and if services were improved this could be a great experience. The beach is beautiful to look at but it is not swimmable. The gym is small but it has all the equipment you would need for your workout and there is a great path around the property for those who like to run outside. Lastly, the drinks were incredible in the Preferred Sections (try the cucumber margarita) and the Bird Cage (service was at a minimal due to the number of staff available) however lacked anywhere else. Ultimately, the food and service is what drives people to vacation and this property overall was a huge miss. For those who are looking to spend time in their presentation/time share we had a good experience with the sales team (stand your ground on what you want, they have different levels of selling tactics and packages so you can get the right one for you should you wish), however we spent 3 hours instead of 1.5 hours and eventually were too exhausted to purchase anything.
This was my first time in Mexico via air and not a cruise and I can not wait to go back. Particularly to this hotel. From the point of arrival, cold towels and champagne, to the concierge and the service, I really enjoyed this trip. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and everything we experienced was nice. This was a brother/sister trip, and they even delivered last minute birthday cake to our room to celebrate. The breakfast buffet was AMAZING.... I think I ate all the bacon or at least tried to. For us that was the best meal every day of our trip, but we are breakfast people. I would recommend this trip for couples and siblings and even singles. The atmosphere is very calm and laid back and when we went there werent any wild and crazy party people there, so I think a single person with a great book could greatly enjoy this facility.
