Travel Ambassadors - Vacation Couple
We recently sent our Travel Ambassadors to this resort. Here is their video...
Nice resort. I have nothing negative to say about the property. Everything was clean. Food was very good at every restaurant. Service was exceptional. Entertainment staff was very good.Negatives: It's far from everything, cabs are very expensive, dance performance was S&M show, non-smoking policy not strictly enforced. Pretty sure the bellmen get a kickback from the cabs. Rather than allow 4-8 people to share a van to the airport for $55, they put 2 people in each van...making everyone wait for additional vans...and charge $20 per person. When I complained about it, the bellman was upset. I discussed it with 4 other couples who were experiencing the same problem.
We travelled awhile ago in 2016 but I had to write a review as this is my favourite Secrets resort and I've been to many....Maroma, Capri, Silversands, and Playa Mujeres. Everything was great....the resort is big but we don't mind walking and didn't spend a lot of time in the room. Regardless, it still managed to have an intimate feel...especially at night - beautiful when the sun was setting.....if a smaller resort is your cup of tea, then you might want to consider Capri. The scenery around the resort is really breathtaking. Do the Bike Tour and Art Walk - it was fun....and we got to see some interesting sights (dolphins at the marina, cactus farm, cool art in San Jose del Cabo).
We just can't say enough wonderful things about this place and all the staff. A special thank you to Lia who helped give my parents the vacation of a lifetime! They were celebrating their combined 150 th birthday and Lia truly made it special. She orchestrated some singers to serenade them as a surprise on the portafino patio and then gave them a special birthday cake as well! They were moved to joyous tears 😀. As always the rooms and hotel were always very clean and beautiful and the food was amazing. All of the staff made us feel so welcome and we had the best time! We will definitely be back and highly recommend this location! Thank you again for the fun, food and entertainment!!
My girlfriend and I just returned from a 5-night stay in Cabo. We spent three nights at the Secrets resort and 2 nights at Breathless, which is part of the same resort family. Some overall observations:Good:-Check-in was quick and easy-Food: overall we were satisfied, specifically for an all-inclusive resort. My girlfriend is half-Mexican and thought the Mexican food generally was made with authentic ingredients (not a high bar when you're in Mexico). Our best meal was at the asian restaurant while our worst meal was actually at the Mexican restaurant--the quality of some of the ingredients in out dishes (especially the meat) did not seem to be high quality. Pool: Nice and relaxing. Good mix of fun group activities and some quiet time throughout the day. Entertainment Staff: Very friendly and easily the highlight of the stay. Remembered our names from one interaction and were always very friendly. Room: Great. We loved the large tub and great shower. We had a first floor garden view room and the pool running across the balcony area was a nice touch. Improvement Needed:Transportation: No uber/lyft in Cabo and transportation to/from airport and to/from downtown cabo/Breathless resort was expensive. The resort recommends a third-party service that is almost double (!) the already expensive cab options. Really annoying we had to pay $70 to cab from Secrets to Breathless even though they are part of the same resort chain. Room Service: Took at least 45 minutes and often an hour. Food quality was good, but time is ridiculous. Evening Entertainment: Everything was over by 10 PM. There was a DJ room/club, but few people seemed to go during our stay. Overall we had a great trip and would recommend to anyone looking to just hang out and recover for a few days. If you're looking for even some nightlife or evening entertainment, though, I would consider Breathless or another one of the hotels closer to town.
I was emailed by guest services prior to our departure to get our travel arrangements, which was very comforting to know that someone at the resort was arranging things at their end for our arrival. The person that was corresponding with me was the actual person that met us at the gate at our arrival, we were upgraded to a swim out suite, overall a great destination
