Travel Ambassadors - Vacation Couple
We recently sent our Travel Ambassadors to this resort. Here is their video...
Spent 5 days at Secrets last week, and came away very impressed. My wife and I agreed that it was one of the nicest getaways we've ever had. Grounds and pools were immaculate, food was good, service overall was quite good. People there were very friendly and accomodating for us. My one gripe involved some fish that we caught on a day excursion and brought back to the resort (already filleted). They charged us $18 per person to prepare the fish, even though we had caught it and were actually saving them money by not eating their food. We have never run into this before and it seemed ridiculous to me, but it was more of a small annoyance than anything (and the fish was delicious for the record!). I was there for a work trip and all went very smoothly. Our suite was in building 3 and was very nice--a bit of a walk from the main building, but that was just fine. Room amenities were very nice--including the shower where you could see the ocean from. Would certainly return to this resort in the future if our travel plans include Cabo.
We had a beautiful swim out pool room with a king bed in building 6. Nice size and great location! Unfortunately we went for a quiet anniversary celebration to a resort that caters to conventions. We were cleared out from the pool overlooking the ocean at 2:00pm for another event. Every evening there were private convention party/events in the common areas without respect to other guests. The loud convention parties went on until 11:30ish right in front of the hotel rooms. If your not bothered by any of this kind of situation, then you'll still enjoy the beauty of the property and the variety of the restaurants. You have to get to the pool no later than 9:00am to get a poolside lounge chair or you'll be aced out. It's nearly impossible to get a reservation at the hibachi table, but you can still get a table within the restaurant without too much of a wait. To get a reservation at the hibachi table, you have to walk up to the concierge at 7:00am. My husband went at 7:30am two days in a row and was told they only had a 9:00pm opening. We passed on it because the other options were great! Happy travels!
Overall, an amazing experience. Some of the staff stand out more than others. I have to give major credit to Luis (bartender) and Kenia (entertainment). They both stood out as people who went over and beyond the call of duty. They are happy and excited to make the guests have a great experience. Now, there were some groups visiting during our stay and they had event staff waiting outside every restaurant at times, reserving tables that were empty for over an hour. This was also VERY apparent in the hibachi at Himitsu where reservations were not supposed to be made until the day of. I, personally, made arrangements and visited the concierge at 7:00am in person when the first reservations could be made. At this time, with me being the first person there (and a line behind me), there was only one table available. I was told that groups had blocked out tables prior to the day, leaving ONE table for the rest of the resort (at 10PM). I'm not sure that is fair, but I'll let you all decide. Good luck!
Went with another couple for 5 days, but wished it was longer! Great wait staff, especially around the pools. Most of the food was good, but had trouble one night waiting aver 1.5 hours to get into Oceana...large group overpowered service people and staff. Everywhere else, food and drinks were very good. Room was large and well appointed, and maid service was great! Beautiful views from rooms into the never-ending ocean! Bars and grills were set up well to cover the large resort area. Would have liked to beach bar to stay open until after sunset, but always seemed to close at 5. Nice sandy beach area, and not many waves. Sunrises and sunsets were memorable events here! Seemed full week we were there, but resort handled all guests easily. Very nice relaxing time at Secrets Puerto Los Cabos.
After a long 15 hour travel from Europe we were ready for a nice and sunny week of relaxing vacation at the Secrets Adults resort in Cabo. What a disaster! Most unfriendly reception at the check-in, room given was dump and smelling with 1 King size (we had reserved 2 Queens) and no view besides on the backentrance of the building in front - total disappointment for more than 800 Dollars per night we got charged right as the first action of the receptionist. Our ask to change was ignored saying that the rooms were all occupied, meaning that I would have to stay with my young niece in one bed. I have no idea how to explain this to my brother when returning home. The checking crew was rude, saying not their problem, offered a rollaway bed for 800 Dollars per night and let us wait for more than 1 hour before a supervisor from a travelagency help to get us a least 2 separate beds. View is still not stunning and new room seems dump as well. Mexiko vacation ruined by unfriendliness right away - treated really unfair from the locals. Will for sure not recommend this place for any kind of vacation to friends - total disaster and returning will not happen as well.
