Our Opinion
In a great location in the Golden Zone, the Playa Mazatlan has long been a favorite of Canadians. You can opt for the all inclusive option or just go hotel only as there are many restaurants in the area. Right next to the popular Joe's Oyster Bar.

Overview
A Mazatlan favorite! This resort offers loads of atmosphere and superb service. The hotel's 418 rooms are nestled among lush, colourful gardens and towering palm trees. Enjoy the great stretch of beach or relax poolside at one of 3 different pools. Enjoy the nearby nightlife at the various clubs and bars or partake in the Playa Mazatlan's own 'Fiesta Mexicana'!

Location: Beachfront, 10 min to downtown Mazatlan, 30 min from the airport.

Authentic Mexico Resort but with Some Issues

Awesome location, beautiful beach and clean. Unique architecture in the rooms with lots of tile, stucco/textured cement walls and brickwork. Helpful staff but English was hit or miss. Good value for the price, used a special deal on Trip Advisor. $86/ night for and ocean view is great! The food was largely very good and reasonably priced. Bar service was very good. The negative: as other reviewers have noted - noisy, bands play until late at night. Lots of families with kids who seem to enjoy yelling where ever they are and at any time. Thankfully I carry a white noise generator that masked most of the noise. I recommend them, got mine on Amazon. The air conditioner did have a musty smell to it but being at the beach, dampness was an issue. The Internet is beyond worthless even when you get a signal. If you need web access, consider someplace else. In this day and age, lack of reliable internet is inexcusable. The adult pool seemed to be filled with drunk, obnoxious morons who were regularly spilling their drinks into the water. Curiously, as often as they clean and mop the rest of the hotel, the adult pool was filthy with discarded cups and bottles. The concierge was hit or miss. The concierge area was disorganized and messy. The was a visible garbage can filled with discarded bottles and trash. This could be a real asset to the hotel if they had competent staff with experience and vision. My experience with it was that it was staffed by clerks with minimal knowledge. Overall though it was a good stay but 3 days here was enough.

Mazatlan mexico trip - stayed at Hotel Playa Mazatan

Our Mazatlan trip was great, fun place to visit. Hotel Playa Mazatlan was a nice place to stay. Very clean and good service. This Hotel is older but well maintained. This location was great, could walk to just about everything we wanted to see and dine. Beach was super nice. Would definately go back.

Nice

A nice looking hotel on the outside but strange smell out of air conditioning unit. Food off the menus was excellent, shrimp cocktail and Mahi mahi in garlic sauce was super. Service was a bit slow because we asked for a shot of Anjejo Tequila which had to be approved by head waiter!

Smell of mould in the air conditioner

Mazatlan is beautiful! This hotel is in a great location, the staff was super friendly. The food was fine, I'm from Canada so I'm not there for familiar food, I wanted authentic Mexican and the hotel offered a bit of it (lots of great food on the strip though). The wifi didn't work in our room, we had to step out onto the balcony for that, didn't bother me though cause I'm there for the amazing beach! Bed was a bit hard but clean, bathrooms were awesome. The only major bummer was that the room hard a really strong smell of mould and having to the air container on only made it worse. So disappointing :( :(Please fix
