We went with the all inclusive deal.... It was absolutely amazing and worth every penny. From the very begining everything was fabulous. We were made to feel like VIPs by everyone at the hotel. We were greeted by the boss man in person and our room was set up like something out of a movie, Champaign & rose pedals.... yeah!!!!! The staff was very attentive and friendly, love the husstle! Many of them we had discovered had been at the resort for generations and were like family. The food was amazing, Casa Roberto I believe its called... I think we ate there almost every day of the trip. The breakfast buffet on the beach was the perfect way to start our days. The drinks were great!! Best pina colada and mojito EVER!! We caught a show right at the hotel (I didnt understand a word of spanish and still had a great time) We had tequilla and danced our hearts out! Ok i had a lot of tequilla but hey "when in rome!!! "I had read that the hotel was was one of the first hotels in the area, it was very beautiful, the grounds were gorgeous, very tropical. The architecture was very cool. We had a couples massage...We felt very safe our entire trip, the hotel grounds were very secure including guards at the main entrance. We could have just stay in the entire trip but wanted to do some exploring, we took a very cool little cab all over town on several ocasions. The US consulate office is literally directly out the front of the hotel office and guard station. We stopped in to just say hi! The concierge set us up with a deep sea fishing excurion... we had a blast, i hooked a 8 1/2ft Blue Marlin, yeah!!! The wife caught dinner!!! We brought some of our catch back and the chef prepaired it all for us... i cant even tell you!!!I could not be happier or speak more highly of our entire experience in Mazatlan and cannot wait to come back!!! Next time we will bring the whole family! Thank you Hotel Playa Mazatlan. Sincerely
stayed at this resort from April 26th to May 6th 2017, I don't think any one in our group of 10 would return. the good first....the beach is nice and a FEW STAFF were great other staff could not communicate and pretended not to understand. Management was absolutely horrible and would not even meet to discuss concerns and would just say come back later. the Buffet was small and very limited, we were informed tourist season and as the resort was filled with mostly locals all buffet items were not international. the omelets station and sandwich station were good but after 10 years of traveling sometimes twice a year this was the first resort without a pasta bar. highly entertainment was okay if you got to go, they have very limit space and line starts at 9am and is full by 9:30 kids were disappointed as they are used to seeing nightly shows. they have a sports bar to watch sports but had no hockey channels for the playoffs only soccer. no repersenitive from West Jet on sight or very very limited and if you want to call them the resort charges you for local calls. the resorts placement in the city is great but I think I would go back to El Cid first and just walk a little further. the Mexican Al carte was horrible as they only got 2 orders right out of 10 and people were left headed to buffet. Italian al carte was excellent with great staff. now let me tell you about why I wanted to see management.....we booked the trip 6 months early, we booked 4 rooms with w adjoining as we were told by trip central they have them. I contacted the resort 3 month before we left and was told they don't have the adjoining rooms and to call trip central after contacting them ( Tom was no help) told me to contact West jet. we contacted them and they informed us there was nothing at that resort.....no problem.....i thought I would check again with the resort before we switched resorts and was helped by lic. rocio, I told him my situation and he emailed back that instead of switching resorts he made it possible for an adjoining room plus the other 2 rooms on the same wing...great...i thanked him over and over....i contacted the resort 1 week before we left and was informed by the same person that the adjoining rooms were given away by the front desk and there was nothing they could do, as we were traveling with 2 other family's it was to late to start switching resorts. we told to go to the front desk the day after we arrived and there should be a adjoining rooms opening up and we could move...the resort played games every day and told us no rooms. my family was split in 2 rooms and it was the worst vacation ever.... if they were honest from day one we would of switched resorts and enjoyed our trip. front desk was rude and management avoided us....we have traveled all over and I have never wrote a review like this and will recommend to never go to this resort or book with trip central all they want is your money and that's it.....its a shame to be treated to bad after you spend your hard earned money to go there....avoid this place. and trip central
Awesome location, beautiful beach and clean. Unique architecture in the rooms with lots of tile, stucco/textured cement walls and brickwork. Helpful staff but English was hit or miss. Good value for the price, used a special deal on Trip Advisor. $86/ night for and ocean view is great! The food was largely very good and reasonably priced. Bar service was very good. The negative: as other reviewers have noted - noisy, bands play until late at night. Lots of families with kids who seem to enjoy yelling where ever they are and at any time. Thankfully I carry a white noise generator that masked most of the noise. I recommend them, got mine on Amazon. The air conditioner did have a musty smell to it but being at the beach, dampness was an issue. The Internet is beyond worthless even when you get a signal. If you need web access, consider someplace else. In this day and age, lack of reliable internet is inexcusable. The adult pool seemed to be filled with drunk, obnoxious morons who were regularly spilling their drinks into the water. Curiously, as often as they clean and mop the rest of the hotel, the adult pool was filthy with discarded cups and bottles. The concierge was hit or miss. The concierge area was disorganized and messy. The was a visible garbage can filled with discarded bottles and trash. This could be a real asset to the hotel if they had competent staff with experience and vision. My experience with it was that it was staffed by clerks with minimal knowledge. Overall though it was a good stay but 3 days here was enough.
Our Mazatlan trip was great, fun place to visit. Hotel Playa Mazatlan was a nice place to stay. Very clean and good service. This Hotel is older but well maintained. This location was great, could walk to just about everything we wanted to see and dine. Beach was super nice. Would definately go back.
A nice looking hotel on the outside but strange smell out of air conditioning unit. Food off the menus was excellent, shrimp cocktail and Mahi mahi in garlic sauce was super. Service was a bit slow because we asked for a shot of Anjejo Tequila which had to be approved by head waiter!
