We will be arriving at the Barcelo Puerto Vallarta this Friday, January 20th at 7am. We are so excited! So far, we have received excellent service via email from Rosalba Garcia with cc's to Lucy Carrillo, Alejandro Ventura and Claudia Arce!I emailed with questions as to upgrading our reservation and adding an additional day, and excellent service was provided! As we too are in the customer service industry, we understand that many very happy customers don't always review a product or service, so we are familiar with bad reviews and understand. As we read all the reviews, But have had excellent service pre-arrival, we are looking forward to a great trip in our premium room, a speedy check in, our room will be quiet, have a beautiful view and be very clean, dinner reservations will be easy to make. We promise to treat your staff very well and look forward to your returned efforts. See you all soon -Cheers! Mike, Kelly and Carter from Vancouver, BC
This was our first trip to Puerto Vallarta and we loved our trip. We were at Barceló for six nights traveling with a group of six. we scheduled a private shuttle through the hotel which was nice as they were waiting at the airport for us and also took us back to the airport to return home. My husband, two teenage sons, and I shared a family suite. It was very comfortable with two separate rooms with two bathrooms. My married son and his wife had their own room. All of the rooms have balconies with a view of the ocean. The pool area is beautiful, two heated pools and two hot tubs. Also, a view of the ocean while sitting at the pool. We enjoyed the provided activities - water aerobics, yoga, beach volleyball, and using the kayaks. We enjoyed swimming up to the bar in the pool! Also, the wait staff was so polite and brought drinks to you at your chairs. We enjoyed eating breakfast outside with a view of the ocean. The taco bar is good and we enjoyed eating lunch outside too. We ate at the Spanish restaurant (Don Quixote ) Italian, and Los Arcos. Our favorite was the Spanish Restaurant (Don Quixote)Also, we took a private boat snorkeling to Los Arcos and to a beach Las Animas. We got this from a girl named Susie Q on the beach . It was very reasonable 120 dollars for six of us which included the snorkeling equipment and the boat stayed with us all day. Also, some of us had a massage at the spa which was out on a balcony where you could see and hear the ocean- wonderful. One of my sons got a massage on the beach for twenty dollars and liked that too. Our only concern was 4 out of six of us got sick after eating at the buffet. We had ordered food to be cooked - hamburger, pasta, and a stir fry dish. I noticed the gal cooking didn't wear gloves and touched the raw meat and then touched the hamburger bun and other food. Not sure if this made us sick or it was from a flu going around. I ran into others at the resort that got sick too. I do suggest they do a better job having workers wash hands and wear gloves when preparing food. We were sick for 24 hours but other than that extremely enjoyed the resort!
My Brother, Dad, and I went to the Barcelo Puerto vallarta for a whole week. Barcelo felt like home, the hotel staff always greeted you with a smile and are supper kind to everyone. The activities where just so much fun to watch and join in. Fernando Lopez is one of the workers from the Activity center is one amazing guy! He Always has a smile on his face, He would ask "how your stay is going." My Dad and Fernando got along well they played Chess together and had my brother join all the activities. The shows every night where so much fun. I will for sure come back and stay at the Barcelo in the future.
Unfortunately there is only just so much space to describe everything but I will condense it to the most important: Let's go with the good, the bad, and the ugly. The Good - -Views from the rooms are amazing.-The Grand Master Suite Premium rooms are some of the best I have ever stayed in. I could live in there for a month. Upper floors 1720,1820,1920 are the best on site. -Grounds are very clean. Lush vegetation and IGUANAS. Very cool. -Food is good at the buffet ( same thing every day but plenty of variety ) but better at the a la carte restaurants. They have an omelet station and a crepe station. -Wait staff is good. They pay more attention with a little tip of course. -Maids are great. Excellent job every day.-Bellmen are great-Beach is small but private and minimal disturbance from vendors. Clean too. -Close proximity to paddle boarding, massages, and fishing boats-Pools are actually kind of warm which was nice. Only had 1 pool bar but wasn't really ever crowded. I watched them chlorinate every night and clean every morning. -Entertainment staff was fun and worked hard. Not obnoxious like some others-The gym was kept clean and fully functional to get a workout inThe Bad--Snack bar had long waits if you sat down to order. Just get the taco's at the taco bar ( they are made fresh) and the pizza if you want a quick snack. -The pool chairs would usually get taken pretty early ( best spots taken by 8:00 am ) so you better get up early and head down to mark your territory-Elevators were very small and only 2 per building. Really could only fit about 5 adults in there comfortably. - You are a fairly decent distance from downtown so a taxi ride is about 25 minutes but it's only $7. That's not the hotel's fault though, just an FYI.-Front desk is a huge hassle getting change so make sure you bring plenty of small bills with you.- Drinks at the bar were never made the same by different bartenders and overly sweet. Felt bloated after 2 drinks. Beer was ok. Wine was better. THE UGLY-- I booked 2 Grand Master Suite Premium rooms. Neither one of them were available when we checked in even though I confirmed them the night before.- 1 1/2 hours to check in AT THE PREMIUM check in center. Poorly managed and organized.- Had to move rooms after the first night since they couldn't get the correct room for us from the beginning. They gave us a key for a room that was already occupied by someone. Boy was that awkward standing at the door looking at a guy in his robe. The other Grand Master Suite Premium room was never given to us. Downgraded my reservation and refunded me the difference. Never went and moved my luggage so I had to go get it myself. Never followed up with an apology for the huge screw up. - Reservations for the "a la carte" restaurants were very limited even though we had the upgraded "Premium" package. Plan on spending 2 hours eating there. They are in no hurry to have more people come in to eat. Don't miss your reservation or you are screwed. If it wasn't for the horrible experience at check in and the room screw up, this would have been an extremely good vacation and I would most definitely want to go back there again. I think this has upper management issues written all over it. Reservation logistics are not handled by minimum wage workers so I can't blame the front desk. It was difficult locating the manager each day and I just didn't have the energy or desire to ruin my vacation by waiting at the front desk every day to speak with a manger. I hope my situation doesn't happen to anyone else.
Very clean and delicious food. Alcohol was decent not bad for being included. Enjoyed the night entertainment. Wish they would give more dinner reservation passes. My favorite part of the room was the large shower.
