Blue Chairs Resort
- What's Included
This gay friendly hotel could not be in a better locations, it is right on Muertos Beach in the heart for Puerto Vallarta gay district. The rooms here are basic but clean. There are many gay friendly bars and clubs within easy walking distance from the hotel. The roof top restaurant has a great happy hour. Not available as all inclusive. The place to stay for gay travelers.
Good: bed was decent... there was a small balcony that has a small view of the beach plus the ambient noise of waves crashing on the beach which i enjoyed...and it is across the street from Los Muertos Beach.Bad: The hotel room we were in had a moldy mildewy smell. Not sure how clean this room was. This hotel needs a lot of maintenance work. Music is played from either bar constantly from 3 pm till around 11 pm. We received a daily complimentary small breakfast of coffee, a fruit plate and toast in the restaurant/bar overlooking Blue chairs Beach. There are many better hotel options within 2 blocks of this hotel.
In the past, I have stayed at Blue Chairs, and at that time, it was decent. Major points go to the hotel for having close proximity to shops, restaurants, nightlife, is right on the beach, and is known to be a gay / gay friendly hotel which gives a comforting vibe mentally to those who stay. But honestly, there are MANY OTHER places to stay to get this feeling. From my previous stay of 3 years ago to now, the facilities and customer service has COMPLETELY diminished. When coming to my room, I voiced many complaints of my nonfunctional AC unit, to hair in the drain of my shower which overtly wasn't cleaned when I arrived, to greasy feeling sheets, mold on the shower curtain, to the broken glass in my ceiling fan, nonfunctioning phone so I couldn't call reception, missing light bulbs in light fixtures, to my broken door to my balcony space...and that WASN'T EVEN everything!! When verbalizing concerns MULTIPLE times, nothing was done or fixed...except ONE light bulb being placed!! The shower remained unclean which can cause sickness to others. Broken glass can pose as a danger if someone reaches for the ceiling fan or it comes loose. The nonfunctional AC was a big annoyance due to trying to keep the door open to have some sort of breeze flowing. And I don't need to say much about mold being on the shower curtain...it wasn't just a couple spots...it was quite an extensive amount throughout the curtain unfortunately. Honestly, for my whole 5 day stay, I cleaned my room myself and didn't allow the maid to come...why tip an individual who was told to clean my room, and it's within the job description to do so anyway who doesn't do it? ...especially with overt matters such as hair in the drain. I was VERY unhappy with my stay and will opt to stay elsewhere when I go back to PV. Such a disappointment, unsanitary room, and it should reflect poorly on the establishment that they would allow this and not bother to change these things...I can't be the only customer that complained I'm sure. Pictures will attached for your reference.
After a long day of traveling, we wanted to get the hotel we reserved and paid for, to have low key evening till we moved to the condo(playa Bonita)we rented for the week RIGHT next door the next day. YES we did read the awful reviews, but it's for only one night or we thought. Upon arrival, I excitedly went to front desk, provided my info. The smug guy looks at a list, where I see my name and "paid in full" next to my info. He states they overbooked and no rooms available. He says we went through Booking.com and to contact them. After turning his back, I ask if he could recommend a place. As he looks "bothered" he scribbles a hotel name, that he says we should present to taxi tat he had his minions grab for us. We present the "recommended" hotel info and taxi driver says "no bueno".The taxi driver took us to a reputable hotel Los Arcos (another review to be completed) 3 blocks away, runs in ask if they have a room available. Wow what service!!! Luck has it, they do!The ONLY good thing about blue chairs is Julio! He is the only reason I would give them business!Do NOT stay at Blue Chairs!! The reviews on this place are true! BEWARE!!
We waited all week to go see the once famous daily Go go boys show We went Sunday at Blue Chairs expecting a bigger crowd We arrived after 6 to the hotel on the roof top . The drinks are really cheap but terrible service if you want another drink order 2 at a time because they ignore you after they get your order and asking for the check took over 20 minutes because they don't want you to leave because there were only a dozen people there I was expecting hot manly Mexican GoGo boys instead there were 2 very slim young men under 20 on their cell phones sitting on a couch and very chunky older go go boy and 8 drag Queens lip-syncing on a stage more staff and drag queens than patrons or guests We had 2 beers hoping with the alcohol and with time it would pick up it didn't .This was not entertaining or fun The view was the best part of the afternoon this hotel has had better days
This hotel is in a great location and had really friendly and helpful staff but the place is in need of major repairs and a good makeover. My first room had water leaking through the ceiling and light fixture, Outside of evening music I found it quiet and my room was kept spotless. Many of the rooms I was shown smelled of mould and were missing bedding, a TV or phone.
