Our Opinion

The Buenaventura Grand is home to an excellent, friendly staff that take the time to look after their guests. The food and service is great, especially for a 3 star hotel. The beach at this hotel is quite rocky, but the big beautiful pool makes up for it. This resort is walking distance to downtown, so it's an excellent location! The Buenaventura has had renovations, adding 3 more restaurants and updating the d�cor to make it feel more classy. Guests at this hotel have unlimited access to the Hacienda Hotel.


An excellent location right within a short walk to dozens of Puerto Vallarta's best shops, restaurants and bars. The setting of this charming, informal hotel is ideal; beachfront, at the edge of downtown. Pamper yourself at Buenaventura's open-air Shakti Spa or delight your "foodie" senses with authentic Mexican cuisine at one of the resort''s signature restaurants, seaside or pool snack bars.

Location: Beachfront, 5 min walk from downtown Vallarta, 20 min from the airport.

No elevator, awful room service, we were charged 500 pesos by not returning the pool towels which, at any time, no one explained anything, definitely I will never return, poorly trained employees, I asked to talk to the Manager or supervisor, we were treated like criminals, the hotel staff did not let us leave until not paying, we almost missed our flight because of these stupidities and lack of training of the hotel staff.

Wow not the week of rest and relation I wanted. Here is the good - the staff are wonderful, hotel is clean and the location is fantastic. I had the best shrimp Burrito in Old Town. On my 3rd day 2 soccer teams arrived and created loudness and Havoc. Everywhere. After one of the snots jumped on me in the pool I never left the Adult pool section. Then they had construction in the buffet restaurant and no more great breakfasts and the food was not good. The beach sucked So... next time I will ask more questions. Thank goodness for tequila. Do you research - and don't go to the sales presentation - the hotel SHOULD NOT ALLOW THAT

Non stop jack hammering construction

We visited PV from May 10 to May 14, 2017 for a wedding. We arrived after a 10 hour travel day expecting a nice and pleasant hotel and we were greeted with the loudest construction noise that we've ever heard. We couldn't hear anything the receptionist was saying to us and it took over 45 minutes for us to get situated into our room. They told us that construction was from 10am- 5pm daily. The pool, restaurant, and bar were filled with debris and and non stop jack hammering noise. Once we got into our bathing suits to go down and enjoy some food and drinks, the option was 1 restaurant that wouldn't let us in because we were in our bathing suits which was unbelievable to us since the pool was literally steps away. The restaurant requires shoes, shirts, and your clothes have to be dry. The staff are very strict about these rules. We had the food by the pool which looked like it was sitting outside all day long with stale french fries, nachos, hamburgers, and tacos. After arriving to this horrible experience on Wednesday we decided to venture out the following days. The one day that we did stay at the hotel all day was for the pool party on Saturday May 13, 2017 to enjoy the day with the newlyweds. The customer service was horrendous and the adult pool was closed because they turned it into a restaurant. The newlyweds had planned for their outside guests of the hotel to enjoy the day by purchasing wristbands. The front desk and security were very unpleasant to work with. They didn't allow outside guests to purchase daily passes without their passports when they said that they needed an "ID" and didn't specify what type of "ID" that they needed. Security guards were staring at our party the whole time and made us all feel very uncomfortable. My husband lost his wristband in the pool and we couldn't find it because the pool was filthy and you couldn't see anything. He was escorted out of the pool. The staff were very unprofessional and rude to us and we have never been treated that way before. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. I give it 2 stars because there were some nice workers that I did encounter and they had a good variety of tequila for an all inclusive hotel.

Will NOT be back

We just visited this all inclusive hotel for a friends wedding. When we showed up to the hotel it was a construction zone. They are doing major renovations and should not be booking rooms during it. Imagine paying $200 a day to listen to jack hammers on the beach and in bed and having dust all over the grounds. We had hoped to relax on this trip, but beyond the jack hammers they also play ridiculous EDM music at the pool like it's Las Vegas. And an entire wing of the hotel is without a working elevator. So if you are on the 4th floor (which is actually the 5th here), you are forced to walk up and down flight of stairs every time you go to and from your room. And to make it worse, the management was extremely rude and the service was terrible. We ordered room service one night as the buffet was closed and it took them an hour and a half to bring it up to our room. When we waiting an hour and asked for an update they told us it was on it's way up and then waited another 30. The attitude of the staff here is this, we already have your money, so shut up and enjoy what we provide. I came to be treated like a paying customer, not a person that they think is a schmuck because you already have my money and don't care if we have further requests. I will never stay at this place again and recommend you all do the same. Maybe then they will learn how to service their customers.

Booked a deluxe room and was given a basic room. Had to barter for deluxe room and pay more to get one. Only received less than half the days of our fridge in room to be stocked. Had to call front desk many times about this problem but to no avail. Finally gave up and bought our own drinks for fridge. Food was excellent as always along with Bar staff and servers in bar and restaurant. We had stayed here before with no problems but won't stay here again since disappointed with some of the service for the room and the room not what we booked!
