Our Opinion

The Buenaventura Grand is home to an excellent, friendly staff that take the time to look after their guests. The food and service is great, especially for a 3 star hotel. The beach at this hotel is quite rocky, but the big beautiful pool makes up for it. This resort is walking distance to downtown, so it's an excellent location! The Buenaventura has had renovations, adding 3 more restaurants and updating the dcor to make it feel more classy. Guests at this hotel have unlimited access to the Hacienda Hotel.

An excellent location right within a short walk to dozens of Puerto Vallarta's best shops, restaurants and bars. The setting of this charming, informal hotel is ideal; beachfront, at the edge of downtown. Pamper yourself at Buenaventura's open-air Shakti Spa or delight your "foodie" senses with authentic Mexican cuisine at one of the resort''s signature restaurants, seaside or pool snack bars.

Location: Beachfront, 5 min walk from downtown Vallarta, 20 min from the airport.

Family Vacation Destination

The Buenaventura was a nice all-inclusive resort that had it's own beach access, multiple restaurants (although not all at the same time), and multiple pools and bars. Personally, we enjoyed the service. The staff were incredibly attentive and wanted to create a nice experience. The location, near downtown and the malecon, made it easy to access the shops, and feel more connected to the cultural parts of the city.

Good resort for a getaway!

I was at Buenaventura for a three night stay with my mom. The hotel is very nice and comfortable. The facilities include pools (which are great!), a bar and beach. The grounds relaxing. Location is perfect if you like to walk to the famous boardwalk or go to the downtown, doing some shopping on the local souvenir stores (visit these stores and you can bargain over some prices, other souvenir stores are too pricey and don't support to the local economy). My mom and I loved the breakfast buffet, it had a lot of choices and also the dinner buffet was really good and inviting. The wait staff was sometimes a little slow, but in general, they are always helpful and ready to meet your needs. As for the rooms, I choose garden view. It wasn't that bad as we were on the third floor and you could see the ocean, but I do think that the room was in need of more lighting and extra hangers or a clothes rack. Another highlight are the entertainment nights, they are fun and right in the lobby, so no hassle of going out. There was an incident though, when we were checking in. Because we booked through Bestday, everything was ready, so after after we checked-in, they guide us to a desk at the side to go over the hotel and AI guidelines. The guy started to ask many questions about our stay and try to sell us a tour (even though I told him I had everything planned) and then, it quickly turned into "would you like to come to a welcome breakfast?" He was trying to sell me a timeshare!!! I'm sorry, but we were on vacations, the least thing we wanted at that moment was to answer intrusive questions and to be invited to a sell-breakfast when we were tired of the trip. So I had to ask him to give us the general guidelines and he was a little rude on the explanation of the schedule and the facilities. Too bad for this guy!Aside from this little problem, our stay was fun and very recommendable!

Description of room said all rooms had balcony and ocean view or partial ocean view. Our room faced the noisy street with no balcony! Would have upgraded if we had known. Certain rooms were given preferential tables and seating we were not one of them. The staff was great, especially the waiters on the beach! Food for dinner not very good mostly ate out.

You get what you pay for! Amazing Staff - Not the "American Standard" for a resort

The staff were amazing, some of the best service I have ever experienced. The food was pretty good, the facility was old, but clean. This is a Canadian owned Hotel with predominantly upper class Mexican guests. Entertainment and activities were not as described. Beach is rocky. AC didn't work well. Room was't ready when we arrived at check-in time. I would recommend to a family with the intent of experiencing some culture, wouldn't recommend for a couple celebrating an anniversary or honeymoon. Puerto Vallarta is SAFE and the people are nicest you will find anywhere in the world. Good place at a good price.

We feel welcome by all personnel but there is one person that treat very well I will say she made sure that we feel well

Leticia Galeana hospitality was excellent but also all in general all personnel, we admired the excellent service work and dedication toward all of us to make us feel well better than home we were treated like kings and queens. Thanh all and for sure we will retur for another vacation.
