Our Opinion

The Buenaventura Grand is home to an excellent, friendly staff that take the time to look after their guests. The food and service is great, especially for a 3 star hotel. The beach at this hotel is quite rocky, but the big beautiful pool makes up for it. This resort is walking distance to downtown, so it's an excellent location! The Buenaventura has had renovations, adding 3 more restaurants and updating the d�cor to make it feel more classy. Guests at this hotel have unlimited access to the Hacienda Hotel.


An excellent location right within a short walk to dozens of Puerto Vallarta's best shops, restaurants and bars. The setting of this charming, informal hotel is ideal; beachfront, at the edge of downtown. Pamper yourself at Buenaventura's open-air Shakti Spa or delight your "foodie" senses with authentic Mexican cuisine at one of the resort''s signature restaurants, seaside or pool snack bars.

Location: Beachfront, 5 min walk from downtown Vallarta, 20 min from the airport.

Great Place close to all the shopping

We can't say enough about the amazing service. Ricardo Gonzalez was our favourite waiter. The staff was friendly and always willing to help. The internet was spotty at times, but then again.... you're on a holiday.. so unplug!

We LOVE the Buenaventura Grand Hotel!!!

My two friends and I stayed at the Buenaventura Grand Hotel last week and we absolutely loved it. The restaurants and pool area were so beautiful and well maintained. We especially enjoyed being right on the beach during dinner watching the beautiful sunset over the ocean each night. The food was excellent and the staff was so helpful and attentive. Seriously, they treated us like royalty. We had never been to Puerto Vallarta before and felt like we totally lucked out in booking our stay at Buenaventura, the location was perfect for us. We got up early every morning and did a walk to the downtown area and being 3 middle aged ladies were grateful that we always felt quite safe. There were lots of cute little shops close by. The only thing about our hotel that wasn't perfect was the internet, it was really iffy. But we were there to relax, soak up some sun and have fun, so that wasn't a big issue to us. We also enjoyed the nightly entertainment at the hotel. We had an AWESOME trip & can't wait to go back!!!

best place on earth

This is the best place to stay in Puerto Vallarta. The staff is soo attentive , we never have to ask for drinks, they know what we want and bring it right too us! the rooms aren't the best ive ever seen, but when you are in Mexico there is no sense being in your room. We plan to take a trip again in December. We cant wait to see Jorge and all the other friendly staff!

Me and my wife stayed at Buenaventura Grand in Puerto Vallarta for the first time this April. From the moment we arrived we felt like royalty. The bellman (capitan botones) Pedro Becerra welcomed us and made sure we were taken care of. The service from all of the staff at the resort was excellent and we enjoyed every minute of our holiday. The manager Raymondo Velazquez was very helpful and made sure we were happy with our room. There was another manager Ernesto Gonzalez who treated us just like we were friends and accommodated all of our requests. The service at the restaurant was just as wonderful. The staff we are very pleasant and friendly. We would highly recommend this resort for any couple or family looking for a place to enjoy a holiday in Puerto Vallarta. We will definitely be back next April!

Mixed review

We were pleased with the look of the hotel. The hotel lobby is clean and pretty. The rooms even though looking old are kept clean. The food was delicious. The service all around was good. The restaurant servers were really professional kind and , respectful . One server was Isidro who works in the restaurant by the ocean. You can see that he enjoys his job and is good at it.What i did not like was the rocky beach in front of the hotel. We were not aware this was so rocky before we booked. But we went out of hotel and found some beautiful sandy beaches south of PV. Now here comes the scam part. The day of checking out ruined all the great experiences we had that whole week. We came down to the lobby and checked out of the hotel. We sat for approximately 30-40 minutes at the lobby waiting for our airport transportation. At around 1245 we loaded our bags into the van and just hen we were about to get into the van, the front desk cane to the streets waving at us to return to the lobby. So we thought we had left something. They told us that we had broken a night lamp. (Mind you i had no memory of how the night lamp looked like because we hadn't really paid attention to it). All we did with it was turn on and off. The guy said that we had to pay 2124 pesos =135dollars for the lamp. Now that blew our mind. We couldn't believe this was happening. So house keeping brought the lamp to the lobby and for sure it had a crack on the glass part. It is a big lamp so we know for sure if that lamp fell we would have known. When we left the room to leave, we did not notice any broken lamps. So we suspected that the housekeeping could have dropped it when cleaning and they were afraid they will be charged do they decided to put it on the customer. Another theory was that lamp was cracked the whole time and we just didn't notice because the crack could have been facing the wall. Or they have a lamp that they are using to scam people who don't call for a room check before leaving. The only way we knew this is a scam is because somehow the price dropped to 35dollars. We were getting late for our flight and the van driver plus the other passengers were kind enough to wait for us. We paid the 35dollars and left. That experience just erased all the good that had happened that whole week.Advise to anyone staying in Buenaventura grand. Before leaving your room, make sure you call someone to come and do a room check to ensure everything is intact.We travel a lot and this is the first time this happened yo us.
