We came to celebrate my wife's birthday on March 19th. Liset & Paola (Hilton Honors Rep). made sure our needs were met. Each day at each restaurant my wife had someone sing " Las Mananitas" birthday song in Spanish. The staff remembered us and gave us personal service. I want the management to know that Ivan Leon went out of his way to make sure we were enjoying the stay and sang "solo" to my wife. He is to be commended and we know him since our first visit in 2013. Special mention to Nelly (seafire) who also made us feel like family including Maximliano, Andre, Aldo and Luis. One of the waiters made us laugh all of the time Heliberto and he gave us the best time in laughing. The cleaning staff had our rooms cleaned everyday and the supervisor would come by to monitor the service. The bellboy at the front desk, Felipe who remembered us from our many stays and went out of his way to make us feel welcome. We are alreadyt making plans to come back again.
Positives - the pool staff was AMAZING. We loved them. The hotel is boutique feeling and not too big. Rooms were nice size, could have been cleaner, but it is Mexico (we had smudges on mirrors in all the rooms and sunscreen on floors when we checked in). The liquor selection was ok.Negatives - the booking process was nearly impossible for a group. We had 4 rooms of different room types - 1 terrace suite, 1 pool suite, 1 junior suite and a standard room. When I called reservations to see if these room types would work for us, they would BARELY talk to me because some were not booked with Hilton directly (expedia, booking.com, tripadvisor, etc). We just wanted to know things like:-are the rooms close together or can they be? -can we have 2 beds in a suite instead of one? (they told us no, but we were able to move pool suite with 2 beds)-can we get connecting rooms? (they said no, but sure enough the rooms had connecting doors)There was a lot of confusion and moving around mid-trip, but eventually we had 2 connecting pool suite rooms - 1 with a king and 1 with 2 doubles - this was the most frustrating part as this was all we wanted but did not receive any help on how to accomplish before we arrived. The wine selection was terrible :(The food not so great. We were able to get by for lunch and breakfast because of the buffets but were really disappointed that there isn't really a "pool menu" as we went for sun and fun and pool time,Hard to get reservations at the restaurants - we were there 5 nights and NEVER able to get in to the Brazilian one. French one wasn't great. The "stocked minibar" is simply 1 diet coke, 1 reg coke, 4 waters, soda water and 2 beers. NOTHING else :(overall I would recommend this hotel if you get pool suites and plan to eat dinners offsite. The pool was easy to get chairs and the guys who work the pool are SO great. fun girls getaway.
Top notch service from everyone on staff. Smallish, quieter property great for relaxing. Maybe a bit boring for kids and for those seeking a lot of entertainment. I didn't understand the Rhythm Room, nothing ever seemed to be going on there. One night there was a salsa lesson which was just someone showing a you tube videos and dancing at us but she was nice. Have a drink with Javier in lobby bar instead. He will take good care of you. Very clean, nicely appointed room. Great shower.
Stayed 11 days as 2 couples in regular King rooms. Reception was spot on for us. Our friends arrived to find the room safe missing, but it was corrected the next day. Not all rooms are ocean facing, so if it's important to you, specify it during your booking. Immediate note, if you're looking for a party palace (like a RIU), this is not it. Keep looking. If you're looking for a smaller venue with excellent service, ZERO time share pushing, cleanliness, great food, and hands down wonderful staff in a more relaxed resort, keep reading.Located about 4 blocks south of the large cruise ship harbor, walking access to shopping malls, public bussing or at the door cabs make this a very easy place to get out and see PV. A 60 Peso cab ride gets you to the PV marina housing Puerto Vallarta Adventures, fishing charters and speed boats. 7.5 Peso puts you an a public bus to go to Centro, Bucerias, or as far as Sayalita. The beach is moderately fine sand, clear water, safe swimming, but I found lacked surf for boogie boarding etc.Eating features a typical all inclusive buffet, but I was very impressed by the quality and freshness. Grill cooks are always there to prepare eggs, pancakes, omelets, and various fish and meats with hot fresh tortillas. A large percentage of Mexican national guests was a good indicator that the food is top quality and authentic. The pools, which are heated during the winter months have no swim up bar, but the pool side food and beverage servers are always a short distance away, friendly and bright. Occasionally had a time finding 4 deck loungers together, but a couple won't have an issue. The roof top adult outdoor lounge and pool is magnificent. Spectacular views of the city, mountains, whales spouting and sunsets all while grazing on well prepared Sushi. Other food service is a café/latte bar, French, Mexican and Brazilian BBQ. The 3 specialty restaurants require reservations. Doing it again, we'd skip the Mexican for another night at the BBQ. The buffet provide lots of Mexican all day. My friend and I went fishing one morning and the hotel prepared us a great dinner with our catch at no extra fee. (We did tip generously though). The marble floors and bathrooms bring the rooms to a nice standard. Air conditioning is adequate. But when will Mexican resorts get it to install bathroom fans? Sheesh! Room service delivery is an added $8.00/US. We never used it however. The mini-bar is super mini containing 3 cans of beer & no liquor. Housekeeping was great! Finally, the entertainment is low key, as I mentioned earlier. Sax player in the dining room Sunday morning, Mariachi band one evening, and local solo to quartet groups in the lounge every second evening or so for a few hours. Ambient daytime music outside, with pool activities and a children's schedule. Overall very enjoyable trip.
We are Hilton Diamond members and make an effort to stay at Hilton properties as we receive excellent treatment. We were at the Hilton Puerto Vallarta for an extended period of time. We loved every minute. We had been following the reviews from September to December 2016. The reviews were often mixed. Some had good experiences, some not so good.Since that time, this property has moved haven and earth to become an outstanding property. Extensive work was done almost daily on a different part of the resort. Everything is in top working order and first rate.Lets start with the staff-Simply outstanding. We had direct contact with the general manager Jorge. He was very helpful and responsive to any request we had. Paula and Lizette in the Concierge area are like magicians. They can get anything done. The rest of the staff was always friendly and eager. Our room was immaculate and the mini bar always fully stocked. We did tip well and it was appreciated. The various restaurants were quite good and certainly way above what you would normally find at an all inclusive. Fago and the Sushi on the roof were excellent! The Mexican specialty restaurant was pretty good. We were not crazy about the French restaurant, but certainly not bad. The Seafire buffet always had an ample variety of good foods. A couple of times, we even snuck food from the kids menu. Love those Quesadillas...sorry kids. The pool area is well kept and almost picture perfect. Daily water exercise and vollyball in the pool. The beach is pristine and it was fun to have the vendors come by and try to sell their wares. There was often a music performance at night, usually quite good. Our room, which was upgraded due to our Hilton status was large and had a great ocean view.We enjoyed our stay at this resort so much that we have made another 30 day reservation for next winter. They have worked out any bugs that were present before. You can't go wrong at this gem.
