Hilton Puerto Vallarta Resort

I believe the most telling part of a review is if you would return. I would absolutely not return to this hotel. My husband and I stayed at the Puerto Vallarta Hilton 6/18-6/23. Why I wouldn’t return:The food was horrible, not only did it have no taste but it made us sick. I basically ate potatoes and rice the whole week, because the meat wasn’t a safe bet.The check-in was odd. Upon check-in you were required to pay your balance for the entire stay. I have been to hotels were you have to pay before you get there, but never the moment you get there. It’s an odd policy. Then they swiped your card on a terminal, not on a computer. It just seemed not on the up and up.We booked the car service for transportation to/from the airport. It was $75, which is extremely expensive, but I felt it was worth it to be safe and secure. The problem is, we were promised an escalade or suburban, instead we were picked up in a sedan. I’m not above a sedan by any means, but when we made the reservation we were promised something that wasn’t carried out.We were not given a receipt for our stay. It’s not a big deal, just odd.My comb disappeared during the maid service. I’m assuming it was thrown away, but I have never had anything disappear from my room during maid service before. You couldn’t charge anything to the room. If you wanted something from the gift shop or a cabana, you had to carry your credit card around with you. We ordered room service twice. The first time, they delivered the food and we had to pay for this at checkout. But the second time, the room service delivery person demanded cash. I was very skeptic of this because other reviews I have read regarding using cash. But the delivery person would not leave until we gave him cash. It worked out and we weren’t double charged, just extremely odd policy. The room service incident prompted us to call the manager on duty. Policies at this hotel are very odd and make you feel like you are getting ripped off. The manager just kept saying, what can I need to do to make it right. The positives:We had a King Deluxe Ocean view room. The view from the room was amazing. The pool service was actually really good. The best I have encountered at an all-inclusive.The employees at the hotel spoke very good English. It was impressive.~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~We booked this hotel because it was a Hilton, and Hilton is a brand I trust. There was absolutely zero resemblance between this hotel and any other Hilton I have stayed at. I believe Hilton should perform some serious quality assurance at this hotel.
Problems with the accuracy of the reservations. low quality food and liquor. the fans in the room were dirty, sheets dirty. the staff is fantastic and very friendly. i would not stay there again. i would like to see more activity at the hotel even if they want to charge per activity.
I reviewed this hotel previously and got a ton of questions, particularly about what is it like to stay in the offseason. So I thought I would write a new review based on a recent trip in July 2017. This is one of our favorite resorts for short 3-5 day getaways and we have been there 7 times in the last 2 years.July-Sept is offseason in Puerto Vallarta because it is very hot and humid. We've stayed in the offseason twice and will return again. Our offseason experience was:- resort was at less than 1/2 capacity.- most of the other guests were Mexican families - not as many Americans or Canadians as in the high seasons. - the guest rooms, gym and all of the restaurants had indoor AC so it was easy to get out of the heat. - there maybe afternoon showers and lighting storms that are usually over in about 15 minutes. The adult only lounge is a great place to view the storms.- if you are going for a luxury experience, you may want to try one of the rooms with a swim up pool on the patio. There were times that our room was cold due to AC but it was too hot to hang out on the patio after 15 minutes so it is nice to have the private splash pool on the patio to take a quick dip.- there were not as many people selling merchandise on the beach during offseason. But they were still boats, parasailing and jet skis right off of the beach for rent.We have seen several individuals in wheelchairs and with special needs at the resort. On our last visit, a woman in a wheel chair told us that this resort was very accessible for her and the staff was extra helpful when she needed it. The spa is very nice but small with a steam room in the locker room. There were several "offseason" specials. The resort is about a cheap 10 minute ride from the airport. It is a 5 minute tax ride to Old Town. Zona Romantica is about 10 minutes taxi ride. This is not a "luxury" hotel but it is very comfortable. It is not a mega resort - it only has about 200 rooms, 1 main buffet restaurant, two general pools and an adults only pool in the lounge that offers sushi. Our experience is that the crowd here is truly a balance mixed of families, retirees, couples, bridal parties, pride parties, etc., from all around the world. Diamond members can find great deals using points for basic rooms combined with paid upgrades for suites, particularly in the offseason. We recommend any of the ocean front rooms or rooms 407-414.
Great stay very clean very family oriented. Great food service and great selection of drinks. West lounge very relaxing good sushi and drinks. Lobby great rest area and great music. Defenetly recommend it and will most likely come back
First I'd say that I read a ton of the reviews before leaving, and I'd agree with most or parts of many. The staff overall are really great, they open doors, speak, engage genuinely, they remember who you are and where you're from, and they simply try to make it an overall good experience. I'm going to butcher her name, but llanelli at the front desk was extremely hospitable, she set the stage for a good experience. The resort is small and mostly quiet, but it's just what we were looking for. If you're looking for the Carnival Cruise type of resort, this won't be good for you. A few specifics:- The food was ok, but we didn't come and expect to have 5 star buffet dining either.- The flies around the food was intense, just as other reviewers mentioned. However, two nights ago we were given a survey in the restaurant. I mentioned two pieces on the survey specifically: it would be nice to have a simply dessert like a doughnut or danish, and two the flies are unbearable, though I'm not certain as to what you can do. The very next day (I'll take credit for it) there were fans around the food area to eliminate flies, and there were three different selections of doughnuts! Truly if you read my note, and reacted that quickly - BRAVO! - The roof deck with sushi, and infinity pool, and a view to die for is marvelous- Please strike a deal with Starbucks, a needed my fix, La Bonita was ok, but yes I as well as a ton others are coffee snobs- The hotel is clean and they seem to work really hard at upkeep. I can only imagine that it takes a beating, and it's hard to keep up - no major issues here at all- The waves were too violent most days for the ocean, if you can fix this it would be great 😀- Internet was spotty, but we were on vacation for god sakeWe had a good time and see no reason not to recommend this location for a peaceful and enjoyable escape. Thanks for the hospitality
