Location: Directly on a secluded beach, surrounded by the Sierra Madre mountains, in beautiful Bahia de Banderas. Only 20 minutes south of downtown Puerto Vallarta and 30 minutes from the airport.
The shower would consistently go from burning hot to cold and it was broken. It had a mildew smell.Toilet was broken and leaked. The room service food could have been better. I wouldn’t stay here again and wouldn’t recommend it either.
Third time back for us! We plan to go again next year. Great service, food and location. Hats off to Juan Carlos, our awesome bartender and to Hector at Blaise. They exemplify one of the many reasons we keep going back.
Had a great experience at the Hyatt Ziva for our Honeymoon. The staff were great and the swim up rooms are a really nice experience. We are a social couple so interacting with others in the swim up pool was a pleasant experience but if you are shy or want more privacy maybe book a more traditional room. The food was pretty good overall with the resort steakhouse, Blaze, being excellent.
We chose this resort through our Alaska Airlines Vacation packages. It was a wonderful experience. The staff were wonderful, they greeted us with Peach Bellini and a cold cloth to wipe the sweat off after a long flight. The food was delicious, the waitstaff were friendly. I give a total high five to all the bartenders who kept us hydrated out on the beach. The pools were lovely, kept clean. The beach was beautiful and the water was warm. We chose to just relax and not plan any activities, but there seems to be plenty. From kayaking to jet skiing, volleyball and parasailing, they even offer cooking classes and handcraft classes. So much to do if you are so inclined. When they say food and drinks are all-inclusive, they mean ALL INCLUSIVE - even room service. If you want a club sandwich at 2 am, you got it!! I look forward to our next relaxing trip to this wonderful Resort. Thank you again Hyatt Ziva!
Ziva is situated in Mismaloya Bay off from the main hotel track, a tropical area away from the hustle and bustle of down town. Full stars for the food, the buffet was beautifully laid out and had all the choices I like such as calamari, muscles, the meat was very tasty and believe it was skirt steak, fried snapper was wonderful, could go on forever. I visited the steak house and ate filet mignon rare with a lovely crisp chardonney, service was fast for me but went at 6pm but heard that it can be up to an hour wait if you go later in the evening. Italian restaurant was good but the best foot was the Thai food, just lovely wish I hadn't waited until the last night to go there. Service was excellent and the waiters and hotel staff were very courteous and friendly, didn't come across one bad one, I did tip on most occasions can't say it's expected but I was happy to reward them. Beach is great, lots of shade and didn't have to fight for a lay out, had read that guests get up early to place their towels on the chairs to reserve but didn't find this to be the case. The sea is on the dirty side, lots of driftwood but wasn't a problem, water nice and warm. The pool bar does not allow under 18 to be in it, was a slight problem for my grandchildren but they are teenagers and found other pools or activities, they preferred the sea. The pools do close at 8pm, once again not a problem for me but was for some people. I was in a wedding party and we gate crashed the pool bar around 10pm, security was very polite, we hung around for maybe 30 mins then went to the beach. This is a no smoking hotel but there are areas where you can light up, seemed to be ok on the beach but overall if smoking offends, you won't have any problem as everyone was very compliant. Drinks are good, you can order doubles if you want, there is a very good selection. I had a room with a balcony and glad I paid the extra, rooms were decent but the bathroom was very dark, there is a slight damp smell but to be expected for the area, high humidity in October. The main tower, I believe it was called "A" was fine but the other being "B" is under construction and you can hear drilling. We initially checked into B but was too noisy, no problem in changing to A which we did but lost the jacuzzi tub on the balcony. I truly recommend this hotel, I have travelled to this area several times but really liked the private beach, food and the customer service. I went with an American Airlines package which worked out well for me as they consider under age 18 to be a child so my grand daughter had free board in my room, whereas if you book through the hotel over 13 has an additional fee, believe it to be $150 a day. Oh yes, 24hr coffee shop as good as starbucks has chilled fruit, sandwiches and all sorts of pastries available at all times.
