The Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta is located south of the downtown strip in Mismaloya. The property is cleverly secluded amongst the side of the cliffs, creating the impression that it is its own private paradise. Perfect for an intimate romantic getaway or a well-balanced and family-oriented vacation, this property possesses all the luxurious inclusions and amenities to make any vacation one-of-a-kind. From the roaming beach and pool carts, to the tequila sommelier, this property offers several unique culinary experiences. This resort is also constantly refining its facilities to offer the absolute best for each guests' stay.

"OverPrice and Average service"

The Service from the staff was good, very attentive, very helpful, the staff will try to get the problem resolved. The room are average don't care for t he pillows they smell like humid/wet, the bed was really hard, bathroom ok I got hit with the doors every time I try to go in there, the front was broken the connecting doors were all messed up and the a/c was noisy, location is good amenities are terrible not accommodating especially the kids club too far from the main building, don't have any computer games or older kids entertainment, they cater more to toddlers and young kidsno food served at the pool or the cabanas that was inconvenient that one of the things I didn't like at all, all the restaurants are really far the only thing I enjoyed the most was the activities by the pool all the people there are very friendly Carlos, Chango & Dulce

Great family vacation!

I booked last minute and did not know what to expect. We were blown away. We took our 11 year old daughter for spring break. The pools were amazing and deliciously warm, the food was out standing and so was the service. Grilled lobster, fresh ceviche, guacamole, specialty drinks, food carts by the pools, 24 hour coffee shop and icecream. Beautiful ocean front rooms, stocked mini bar, some amazing and some cheesy entertainment. The Michael Jackson show was the best I have ever seen. Standing ovation for this entertainer. My daughter loved the pool side entertainment, the foam party in the pool, beach volleyball and the list goes on. Each and every restaurant was terrific, my favourite breakfast was at Blaze. The very professional and friendly staff especially pool side bartender Arturo made our trip our best one yet. Arturo, you are a rock star and thank you for the amazing service, they are so lucky to have you. I can't wait to go back, the welcome drinks, the snacks available everywhere, the tours, the proximity to town (8 min on local bus 8 pesos). Thank you Hyatt Ziva, till we meet again.

Great Trip!

I just have to say that I had an awesome time during my week here. The room was nice, the food and drinks were incredible and the staff was amazing! the location was gorgeous too! I enjoyed just being at the resort so much that I didn't bother to go outside on any excursions (maybe next time). All of the staff were incredibly kind and friendly. What really made the trip super special was the entertainment staff. I can't remember all of their names but Martin, Edgar, Dulce and Carlos made our time so much fun. I can't believe the energy that Martin and Edgar had! They were go go go all day long with shows, water aerobics, exercises, kayaking and especially volleyball! You could really feel how genuinely concerned they were about our having the best time possible and how they would make it happen for us.

Great food and drinks. Booking was a horrible experience, however once there, the customer service was excellent. We also didn't have hot water but it was bearable and they did send someone up immediately.

Beautiful view! Terrible food and drinks

We had an average stay at this hotel. We visited Hyatt Ziva for a friends wedding. Prior to the trip, I checked out the reviews for the hotel and with all the awesome reviews I thought we were in for an amazing experience. Hyatt Ziva definitely did not live up to this. The view from the room was amazing, the room was comfortable, but the food and drinks were terrible. If given the choice I would give the room, view, and most staff a 5 star rating, but the food and drink quality a 1/2.Just to note, I've stayed at several all-inclusive resorts so I definitely compare quality to previous stays. Resorts I've stayed at and enjoyed include Riu Palace Cancun, Secrets and Barceló Grande in Mayan Riveria, Majestic Palace in Dominican Republic, Jewel and Grand Palladium in Jamaica, etc. This resort had hands down one of the best views of hotels I've stayed at. However, this resort also had the worst food selection, variety, and quality of the hotels I have experienced. Keep reading for more detail :)Room: Rating 4/5We stayed in the main tower and had a room with a balcony on the 3rd floor. Only some of the rooms have a balcony. The other rooms have a sliding door that can be opened to hear the waves and let in fresh air. We really enjoyed the balcony, but I think the room is slightly smaller when you have a balcony as well. The view from the room was amazing. It is sold as "oceanview" but I would say our room could have definitely been called "oceanfront." Gorgeous view of the beach, pool, and mountains. Bed was quite comfortable, AC was adequate, bathroom / shower were fine. Agree with many of the other people that the resort needs more elevators. There is currently 1 staff elevator and 1 guest elevator in this building. We stayed on the 3rd floor and walked up and down the stairs most of the time to avoid the elevator situation. Food: Rating 2/5Worst selection of food that I've seen at an all-inclusive resort. The buffet was not good and had limited options, the a la carte restaurants weren't great either. Buffet: The thing I liked about the buffet was that they had plates at the entrance where you could grab a quick snack and take it to the pool. For breakfast, lunch, and dinner I found the options very limited and the quality not great. Even the tortilla chips weren't great and tasted like they were just out of a bad. In Mexico I expected awesome tortilla chips, queso, fajitas, tacos. These items were non-existent. The tacos that we did see seemed to be frozen and just heated on site. The only decent things I found at the buffet were guacamole (but unfortunately with the crappy chips), the ice cream, and the grilled meats. Any of the grilled meats were actually tasty. We did the Mexican buffet fiesta night and this was very underwhelming as well. Again good grilled meats, everything else was mediocre and probably out of a box. Blaze: The reason the food gets 2 starts instead of 1. Blaze was excellent for breakfast. I finally found my fajitas at Blaze for lunch. These were also tasty. Blaze for dinner didn't impress, though I've read many reviews that Blaze was excellent for dinner. I ordered the filet and I only took about 2 bites of it, it wasn't very good. Melanzane (Italian): Only ate here for lunch, but the pizza and salad I ordered was quite tasty. My friends ordered chicken fettuccini and ravioli and they didn't really care for their entrees. Asian: Our Asian Restaurant experience was terrible. We tried to get a table for 12 - and even though they don't take reservations and had plenty of tables, they would only seat us as a party of 8 and 4. Our group of 8 was placed at a table that the fan overhead was missing so it was very hot. Hector came to our table and introduced himself as the best waiter ever. Not true. Our drinks and food were very slow. He didn't take everyone's order at the same time so food was coming out all at different times. Also, my food here (Lemon chicken) wasn't terrible - but was more like a sweet and sour chicken. Everyone else in my party said their food / sushi etc was terrible. The service wasn't good and we didn't leave a tip for Hector - he haggled one of the girls in my party and complained to her that we didn't tip. If the service had been better, we probably would have. Coffee Shop: Had a sandwich from here - the chicken was rubbery and this was terribleMexican Restaurant: I was so over the food at this resort that I gave up even trying to eat here and didn't try this restaurant. Room Service: Food quality is hit or miss. Pizza was not great - no where near as good as in the Italian restaurant. Caesar Salad - not great. Regular salad was ok. Chicken soup was terrible. Chicken quesadilla was not too bad. Service was always quoted 35-45 minutes and was mostly prompt. Overall: It was just hard to find something you wanted to eat here. With the buffet being limited and the a la carte options not being great (and they tended to take a good 1-2 hours to eat, even for breakfast) I went home basically starving. The resort very much lacks a place just to get snacks (like I said the coffee shop was terrible). There are times of the day where basically nothing is open. The website advertises that there are food carts wandering around. This isn't really the case. Each day there was maybe a fruit or specialty cocktail cart, but I never say this grilled meat or rotisserie carts that are advertised. They did have a hamburger station with chips set up most days. One day they had pork street tacos and these were actually pretty good. Bar / Drinks: 2.5/5 Liquor selection was good. Beer selection is only Dos Equis. Frozen drink selection was fine, but I didn't prefer the mixers they use for the daiquiris / etc. The dirty banana drink was good. It was hard for me to taste the liquor in the frozen drinks even when ordering a double with an extra shot on top. The juice mixers didn't seem to be of good quality either. Ordered a rum punch a few times and tried a vodka cranberry pineapple and these were both terrible. Overall, I drank a lot less than I do at home because the drink quality wasn't to my personal taste. Also, we had drinks at the pool / beach bars a lot. These bars don't have enough bartenders for the number of drinks they are making. We always had someone coming by the pool every 15 - 20 minutes to offer drinks, but if you walked up to the bar to get a drink it could take forever because the same bartender making the drinks for the pool is the one making drinks for people coming up. They needed at least 1-2 extra bartenders at both pool bars. Pool / Beach: 4.5/5 Adults pool quickly became our favorite. Beautiful infinity pool, overlooking the beach. There are plenty of umbrellas so we could stay out of the heat if wanted. It was so hot that this was actually welcome. The beach is secluded and nice. We found the sand to be hot to walk on, and we had a lot of ants crawling us the one day we tried to lay out on the beach. The ocean was mostly calm and safe. However, there was a lot of black dirty debris floating in it, and you had to walk through that to get in, and came out with that mess all over you. However, beach was still very nice. Service: 4.5/5Staff members were very friendly and willing to help. We had good service everywhere except for the incident with Hector at the Asian restaurant. Tips didn't seem to be expected. Most resorts I've been to, staff seems to expect tips. Here most staff members actually seemed surprised when I tipped them. Location: 5/5Location was great and close to Puerto Vallerta. Quick cab ride to downtown or to the marina for a fishing or boat trip. Overall, the resort was beautiful. If they would up the quality of the food and drink I would definitely give this resort 5/5 stars. But I was so over the food and drink that I wanted to leave early. I stayed 6 nights. After 5 nights I seriously considered changing my flights and leaving a day early. I inquired at the front desk if I would still have to pay for the 6th night. They wouldn't credit me for the last night so I ended up staying but I was so ready to get out of there. It's a shame because if the food and drinks were good this would definitely be a piece of paradise.Hope this helps!
