Wedding and honeymoon

First let me say that the service here is better than at any resort I've ever visited before. No matter if you're at the pool bar (all.day.long.) or out for dinner you will get what you need promptly and with a smile. Our experience with Valentina planning and executing our special day was nearly flawless. She handled everything with such a laid back approach I couldn't help but be laid back myself throughout. We even changed the venue the day before and it didn't seem to be a bother to her at all. FYI, we did decide to have the ceremony and the reception off the beach due to the heat of the afternoon sun and I'm so glad we did! The terrace provided shade as well as privacy. We decided to have a bonfire on the beach the night before the wedding and that was a hit! I would recommend checking to see what the entertainment is at the resort whatever night you plan to do that, however, as ours ran the same time as the Michael Jackson show and we had some guests who were disappointed to miss that. We made a playlist and had a bluetooth speaker, but it didn't hold up to the competing show so Valentina had someone send a big speaker for us to use without us even asking :) The night of the wedding the service was amazing as per usual and the food was so good! I was surprised by the "welcome drinks" right after the ceremony which were so fancy and fun! We chose Ave Sol Photography and Eva was absolutely amazing to work with. We had sneak peak photos just 2 days after our special day which were enough to blow me away; I can't wait to see the rest! The spa.... our couples massages were AMAZING. Included in our package was a mani/pedi for the bride but I didn't end up using that because I had both done in shellac before arriving to the resort and I didn't see any sign of shellac polish there- I never did ask about exchanging services for something else which was my miss. I did get my hair done as well as the "high definition" make up. This was a bit disappointing. I had emailed per their request photos of both my hair and make up that I wanted, so didn't even have my phone with the photos with me when I arrived and they didn't seem to have any knowledge of the email in the salon :-/ My hair did turn out well after she re-did the braids for me, but I was not impressed with the makeup. She kept my back turned away from the mirror during the whole process, and I guess I just trusted her enough to know after doing my relaxed hairstyle she would understand I didn't want my makeup to look like I was going clubbing. When she turned me around I was not pleased at all with the eyeliner especially- there's so many different ways to line your eyes... why didn't she ask me what I wanted? I had so much foundation on I immediately went to the locker room to wipe some of it off... I was horrified to find it kind of came off in pieces... like a glacier broke off of the main iceberg or something. It was repaired with powder throughout the night but my husband did say he noticed it while we were dancing, etc. I definitely should have gone in with photos and checked up on her progress throughout the appointment... learn from my mistakes! It all turned out okay it just wasn't at all what I had in mind OR what I had sent them prior to my arrival to tell them what I wanted. The other thing that was disappointing was our room. I already got an email back from the Hyatt after filling out a survey stating they were sorry "the room our travel agent picked" wasn't to our liking. My husband did the research on the room and chose the hot tub suite as our choice. The room wasn't awful but it wasn't THAT nice. The tub both on the balcony and in the bathroom were pretty old. There wasn't enough room to put our clothes away in the drawers, etc, so we lived out of our suitcases for nine days. Also, when our friends and family began to arrive we learned nearly all of them had been upgraded! Like I said it wasn't awful, but we certainly did not feel like we got any special treatment for being the bride and groom. One tiny detail that was especially annoying was I must've booked the room on my credit card, so it was under my name which also happens to be my ex-husband's name.... so most of the week my husband was referred to as Mr. (Ex husband's name). Or it was: "hello Mr. and Mrs. (Ex husband). It just added insult to injury of not feeling like we got the attention a bride and groom should've.That being said I would absolutely recommend the resort...the service, the beach and the experience were top notch. It was our first visit to Puerto Vallarta and it will not be our last!

Beautiful destination, beautiful resort

We came to Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta for one week to attend a destination wedding. We had never stayed at an all inclusive resort before so this was a treat. Everything was arranged by Beach Bum Vacation so planning was a breeze. We had originally reserved the King partial ocean view, but upon arrival they said that there were no King rooms available. This was a bit disconcerting because we sleep in a king bed at home and anything smaller feels crowded. They ended up giving us an ocean view double (which they said was actually queens). This was do-able but we ended up sleeping in separate beds because it was more comfortable with the high humidity. This room mix up is the only reason I didn't give it a 5 star. Everything else was great. All the restaurants had really good menus with great tasting dishes. The grounds, pools, and facilities were very clean. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Overall we would gladly come back again.

Great place, great time but drinks need help

The drinks need some big help because they didn't taste the best but everything else was fantastic. I also wish there were some cheaper activities and adventures to do that are provided through the hotel. Like Jetske's, jungle tour, zip lines. Don't get me wrong they have things like this but they are a little expensive.

Wow

The hotel is beautiful and the beach is amazing. We had a server on the beach that went out of his way to make sure we were always taken care of....Arturo. He was the nicest, friendliest server who paid attention to our drinks and made sure we were never thirsty.Brian was another service provider in the buffet and at my daughter's wedding. He was attentive and very sweet. It makes your stay so much nicer with great staff!
