Went to puerto Vallarta this month and was definitely not expecting to have so much fun. An amazing place to actually relax and enjoy the ocean. The staff was great! From Yazmin, Edgar, Octavio, Danillo, and Ulises who were in charge of activities and get you involved in volleyball games or kayaking in the ocean to the waiters like Mateo. It was hard to leave a place that makes you feel so much at home. Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fun getaway or a family friendly vacation.
The place is great, young staff but they are coached by the "Captain", their is 10 restaurant / bar, 5 main restaurant, The Blaze, breakfast outstanding coffee is really good this is where you should start your day, Joel great server and he will do a custom made plate if you want something out of the menu. A bit disappointed with the Vivaz Buffet, the choice is not really abundant, up to you, The Italian restaurant the Melan Zone / Trattoria you will meet Ivan the Magnificent and El Captain Francisco, Pizza and Pasta are awesome and deserve to be taste. The Pureza, Asian Restaurant If you like Sushi you will be served, the Casa Grande, Mexican restaurant looks ok from the outside, but we haven't tried. The Hotel are under major renovation, it's a bit noisy if you want to relax in your room, they normally stop around 6 pm but sometime it go a bit longer, midnight, anyway they also had some issue with the fire system alarm who start twice at 3 am. The hotel staff did their best with some people who cannot read "adult Only" but it is what it is. Lots more to discovered but not enough time... We will definitely come back
We stayed at Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta at an Oceanfront room in the main tower. Before going we were debating if to get an Oceanview or an Oceanfront room. Keep in mind that all rooms have an ocean view. The only difference is that Oceanview rooms are on the lower levels (2-6 floor) and Oceanfront rooms are at the higher level (7-10 floor). We are glad we went with the Oeanfront room as the unobstructed views from our 7th floor room was amazing! The main tower as well as the club tower is right on the beach, so close that you would hear the waves in your room when you sleep. The resort is situated on a quiet private beach where it was never difficult to find a chair near the pool or the beach. There were a few vendors on the beach but they would leave you alone when you say a simple "no thank you". The only excursion we did was a 2 hour sightseeing boat tour, as we went with our parents and they are fairly old. Highly recommend this tour as we sailed past the 3 caves, saw wildlife and fed exotic fishes. We did the tour with Tony's tour (one of the private vendors on the beach). If you are on the beach he will approach you at least once lol. The food was hit and miss for us and therefore I am not giving this resort 5 stars. We are not picky eaters but the buffet did not have a large selection and had the same variety throughout the week. As far restaurants are concerned our favourite was Casa Grande which specializes in Mexican cuisine (their Adabado Chicken, 3 Layer Milk Cake and Churritos were delicious!). Blaze (the beach side steak and grill house) was good as well. We did not like the food at Puriza at all which is the Asian restaurant. The entertainment staff made sure that they have activities throughout the day. Though we did not participate, the night shows were really good, specially the Carribbean, Aqua and Micheal Jackson shows. A few names we would like to give a shoutout to: - Febe at Vivaz (the buffet restaurant), she always had a smile on her face, was very welcoming and always got us the best tables.- Edgar/Chango and Yesina - these two made sure the nightly shows ran smoothly and kept the audience engaged- Mateo (server at Casa Grande and Vivaz) - the best server ever!! He was very pleasant, spoke fluent English and had an amazing personality. My sister had a crush on him ;-).- And all the staff whose names we didn't get, but who made our stay at the resort amazing! (front desk reception, bell boys, cleaning staff, pool bartender, property caretakers)
Juan Luis by the pool was amazing, all the staff were so kind and attentive. I had the best experience at the amazing spa, Maria (i think?) did an amazing massage and a facial. so nice! the pools were great with direct access right to a private beach.
My wife and I really enjoyed a short (4 nights) stay at Hyatt Ziva. In my opinion, it's a great value for the price. The staff was truly exceptional (from front desk to sports/entertainment to room service to restaurant wait staff). The variety and quality of the food was better than anticipated. The pools and beach were very enjoyable as well.
