The Now Amber is a new resort located close to the Malcon in Puerto Vallarta. The rooms are hightlight of this resort, modern, clean and with room service included as an all-inclusive feature! An upgrade to a swim-out suite is well worth the cost. A good choice for a higher-end family option in Puerto Vallarta.

Last November, my husband and I stayed at the Now Amber for a week as a part of an incentive trip for my his company. For reference, this is the third all-inclusive I have stayed at, the other two being in Riviera Maya and the Dominican Republic. Now Amber is probably one of the most noticeable resorts in the city.Service: We received excellent service throughout our entire stay. Not one employee we encountered was unpleasant. Most were very enthusiastic, from housekeeping to the front desk. Every service was timely and professional from the beachside pool boys to the room service. In my opinion, service can make or break an experience, and the staff most definitely enhanced our stay.Room: We had a standard suite with a king-sized bed. We thought the room was beautiful for being an average room. We were pretty high up, and all the rooms have a balcony with ocean view, which was gorgeous. On the front side of the hotel, all the halls are open to air with views of the city and more mountains. Housekeeping did not miss a beat. I noticed no mold, as I had read about in previous reviews. We did have to request restocking of water bottles for our mini fridge twice. Unfortunately during our stay, the AC went out (I believe it was throughout the hotel), making for a very humid room. However, it was taken care of in 24 hours.Grounds: Well-kept, pretty but crowded. The 3 pools are very clean. One is a kid's pool with a slide, another an activity pool, and the third has the pool-side bar. However, near the bar I was frequently bothered by a very heavy stench, which I think was a mixture of the fruit and alcohol becoming hot from the sun. My husband and some friends noticed it as well, and at some points it was nauseating enough to move away from the bar. Both the poolside chairs and beach chairs are -very- crowded together (arm's length or less). I prefer some space from other guests, and this was very difficult to obtain. The beach is very tiny, and crowded with resort beach toys and volleyball nets. To add to that, beachside solicitors camp in front of the resort daily, excluding the ones that walk up and down the beach. If you choose a beach chair in or near the front, expect to be asked to buy something at least 20 times a day. This was the worst I had ever seen soliciting on a beach. The beach ground itself is very rocky, but the water is clear and seaweed free. Food/Restaurants: We had our fair share of food and drinks. I think we could name on one hand food items that we were thoroughly impressed with and on the other, items that we really disliked. Throughout, the food was good, but not rave-worthy. The best meal was the one that was catered to the group we were with. Great breakfast with variety of choices at the buffet. I will say if you choose to eat outdoors at the buffet or poolside walk-up during the day, the pigeons are outrageous. They climb on the empty tables, walk around your feet and aren't scared of jack. I found this so gross and frustrating. Extra: There's lots of entertainment and activities offered throughout the day and night. One night they had a Mexican-themed fiesta on the grounds with authentic food, decor and entertainment, which we really enjoyed. Another night, they had some kind of party on the grounds with very loud music and yelling. Unfortunately, we were ready for bed around 10 that night, but were kept up with the noise that lasted into the wee morning hours. Since all rooms face the grounds, there's no way to escape something like that if you wanted, which was unpleasant.Overall, we enjoyed our stay...I highlighted most of the cons of our experience. We absolutely loved the city and markets of Puerto Vallarta and would love to see it again someday.
I have mixed feelings about this resort, so it's taken me a long time to write this review. We stayed for a week last Easter. The pool and bars were so busy, it took forever to get a drink, even with regular tipping. They need to have a separate bar for kids and smoothies.I read the reviews before we booked, and people wrote that we could go to the adult only side. That was not true.I have stayed at resorts with much better buffets, but the restaurants were awesome. You did not need reservations for the restaurants. The nightly entertainment was the best we have seen at a resort.
Now Amber is a place our family will come back to time and time again! It was our first experience with an all-inclusive and we were so pleasantly surprised with the facility, the food and especially the staff. Carlos Diaz made every day more enjoyable than the next. He took such care of our family all week, even setting up a special dinner for our last night. The rooms all have amazing views of the water and the sunsets there are gorgeous. Our 7 year old loved spending time with the ladies at Explorers Club.. even made two new friends who are now his pen-pals. We were sad to leave Now Amber and look forward to another trip back! I highly recommend this location... you will NOT be sorry with your experience!!!
Spent two weeks here in January. The weather was very hot and sunny till the last 2 days when it was very cloudy but warm. The facilities in the hotel were very good. My favourite place in the whole hotel was the 24 hour coffee bar which had so many varieties of hot & iced coffee that I was spoilt for choice. The entertainment at the hotel was first class. The restaurants served a wide variety of menu and we thourgly enjoyed them. We did three of the trips with the highlight was the Whale safari. The Rytham of the night was very cultural and one definitely not to be missed. The final trip was the luxury sailing which was very good too. The staff at the hotel are excellent and nothing asked was a problem. Would definitely stay here again if we ever come back to Puert Vallarta.
