Our Opinion

The Now Amber is a new resort located close to the Malcon in Puerto Vallarta. The rooms are hightlight of this resort, modern, clean and with room service included as an all-inclusive feature! An upgrade to a swim-out suite is well worth the cost. A good choice for a higher-end family option in Puerto Vallarta.

Great Resort - JUAN was an excellent bartender

Had a great time during my recent visit to Now Amber. I would highly recommend the resort to anyone. I was there with 12 other family members ranging in age from 7 to 77 and all had a great time.I special thanks to Juan, the bartender on the 2nd floor bar (forgot the name of the bar). He was the first person I interacted with when I arrived and made sure I had a cold Corona in my hand before I ever registered for my room. Juan continued to serve me the entire trip and became my go-to bartender. Juan was also very helpful in recommending which Mexican tequila to purchase as a souvenir and even told me the best place (within walking distance) to buy it.Thanks Juan for making my visit great at Now Amber!

Now Amber, where hotel and staff make you feel at home.

We just came back from our vacation during Thanksgiving. We had a great time. We are definitely thinking about going back. About property: This is a great property. It is a very well maintained. Every one greats you with a smile. Every room has some sort of a ocean view. We stayed in preferred suite. It was great. We had our own concierge and a bar in the building, which was open till 11:00 PM. It was our hang out place prior to dinner and after dinner until 11. Only down side to the property, lot of elevator rides to get anywhere. We just used stairs after while. Restaurants:Capers: Not very good Italian food. I rank it below average. The food did not taste bad but food in the plate did not match the menu. For example: Shrimp Scampi was in Alfredo like creamy sauce. My wife’s fish was glazed with teriyaki sauce. I would recommend hotel to maybe hire some one to set the menu. The staff was great. Like usual service with a smile. Tamarindo: This was pretty decent place. A lovely and very cool hostess greeted us. Her name is Zulema. Food was pretty decent and service was great.Himitsu: This was our favorite place. We loved the Teppanyaki side. Unfortunately it’s for adults only. Here we were welcomed by a very gracious person name America. When we had dinner with our kids on the hot and humid outside, she was very gracious to accommodate our not so quiet family in our little corner where we can see the show and eat. Bordeaux: This was a French restaurant. It was pretty good. Good house wine. Great soufflé. Main dining room: Every morning we were greeted by Moncerrath and Carmen. Both are great ladies. They always accommodated us in the section where we were taken care of by Benito, Lizeth, and Fernando. My wife specially appreciated Benito. Before my wife came back to the table with her breakfast, he had her ice coffee ready just the way she liked it. Castaway: Novoa fed us good. We loved the smoked marlin burrito and tostada. Drinks were great too. Bar at Preferred building in Now Amber: This is a very quaint bar. Sunday through Friday you will find my friend Noe working it. He really took care of us. After ordering several drinks, he knew exactly what we liked. Every night we hang out at the bar. As soon as we walk-in to the bar, in minutes Noe would hand me and my wife our drinks. NOE YOU ARE THE BEST.Now Amber preferred building concierge: These guys are great. Both Cinthia Macias and Carlos Cisneros took care of us. We did not have to go to the main building for any thing. We will go back to Now Amber because we miss our friends Noe, Moncerrath, America, Zulema, Benito, Lizeth, Fernado, Carmen, Cinthia, and Carlos.Off hotel activities:If you are looking for great activity package, I would recommend you go see Cesar Martinez out side the gate amongst the massage places. He owns and run the nick knack store and is a licensed travel agent. He has lot more choices then the hotel and he speaks “American” lol. He used to live in CA. I hope this helps. I have never repeated a hotel in my life. I would with Now Amber.

Never Returning

This was by far one of our worst resort experiences. Where do I begin?! Let me preface this by saying, my husband and I did not select this hotel by choice, we were there for a wedding and were asked to stay here with other family members so we could all be together. We love Mexico and were just so disappointed by Now Amber.Day 1: from the moment we arrived, the front desk was understaffed with only one person working. There was a huge line of people that were hot and frustrated waiting to check in or out. We were early so we had to wait for a few hours. We were hungry so we went down to the Barefoot Grill by the pools. Big mistake. The food seemed decent enough so we grabbed cheeseburgers. The staff at this restaurant was clearly miserable, they didn't seem to enjoy their job at all and we didn't blame them. We ate the food and within an hour we were running for the restrooms. It went right through us. When we finally checked in, we were greeted by a musty, mildew and mold smelling room. It was awful to breath it in but we couldn't open the balcony doors for fresh air because the A/C was triggered to turn off if the doors stayed open more than 20 seconds. The A/C was another whole set of problems. They have it set so you can't change it to a certain temp, which is WAY too hot for their climate. We and eight other people in our family had to call the front desk and have the serviceman come up and "fix" it. Ridiculous. The room floors and rugs were also dirty and we found several bugs. We ate at Caper's that night for dinner and the food was so/so. I ordered the mahi mahi and it was dry and flavorless. The server was very nice and eager to please. That night, there was some sort of party or perhaps a wedding going on and the with the resort being designed somewhat like a horseshoe, all noise and music just echoes off of every building. The music was so loud at 11:45pm that my husband called the front desk and asked when it would end. They told us 2am. Needless to say, we got very little sleep that night in our loud, musty smelling room. Day 2: the next day we decided to check out the pools and because we didn't get up super early, we could barely find chairs by the pool. The pools were gross in the sense that parents were letting their kids go in them with diapers on, drinks were being spilled, people stood by the swim up bar for hours on end so you knew they were definitely urinating in the pool as they drank. Shot glasses were floating in the pool amongst other garbage. Then there's the stench of sewer that comes up off the beach, it nauseated us so badly we had to leave the pools. Not to mention the vendors that are waiting on the beach for your toes to hit the sand so they can come over and hassle you to buy from them. My husband had his suit for the wedding dry cleaned by the hotel dry cleaning service and it was returned to us with his dress shirt having oil spots on it. Ruined his nice shirt. We ended up transferring to their connecting adult only hotel, Secret's due to my husband's grandparents not being able to walk as far to meet the family at Now Amber so we took their room and they took ours. Same issues at this resort, although it was quieter with no children, the rooms still smelled of mold and mildew. We had all of our meals at Now Amber with the family and again, had issues of getting sick. A plain bagel with light cream cheese had me feeling awful the majority of Day 2. I was incredibly cautious with what I ate, very plain and mild food choices for fear of getting sick again. Unfortunately, five other people in our party got sick due to the food at Now Amber. Some got it much worse then us and were up all night. Night 2 consisted of another loud night of music and firework's until well after midnight. Day 3 - our final day thankfully, we used the adult pools at Secrets and although quieter and cleaner, the service wasn't spectacular by the poolside staff. Again, we noticed that they didn't seem happy or enjoyed their jobs. Gym: We used the gym two out of the three days and it was decent, not a huge selection and if you don't get down there early enough, the cardio equipment fills up. Spa/Salon: I didn't use the spa but I did have my hair done at the salon for the wedding and the stylist did a very nice job.Final Thoughts: Spend your money elsewhere. For the amount they charge you per night, you can find something MUCH better than this place. This resort could benefit greatly from shadowing 4 & 5 star hotels by learning how to treat their guests, serve quality food and keep a clean resort. We will absolutely never return nor recommend this place to anyone traveling to PV.

Beautiful Resort - Excellent Waitstaff

I visited Now Amber for my 30+3 birthday from 11/25/16 - 11/28/16 (4 days, 3 nights). Our flight arrived fairly early but we weren't able to check-in until 3 pm. However, we able to utilize the amenities until check-in time. Marco at the front desk provided us access to the adults only Secrets resort. The food was fine. We mostly dined at the Carnival and Barefoot Grill since most of of time was spent on the beach or pool area. David was our initial water near the beach and was EXCELLENT. We met Roger (muscle man) and Miguel/Michael and they were hilarious to say the least. Christian partnered with David our first day and they both provided exceptional customer service. The drinks kept coming!!Our second day, we met Daniel Alvarado (a fairly new concierge). He was really attentive and made sure we received everything we needed. On our final day, Hugo and Daniel both waited on us and our experience was nothing short of amazing. The only complaint I have is that the A/C went out on our final night. It wouldn't of been a problem but we called to report it and were told they would right up. We feel asleep before anyone came and called back the next morning. Again, we were told that someone would come up to fix it. After the no-shows, I went down the front desk and was informed the A/C was out for the entire hotel which was never communicated. Marco (front desk) and Sergio (concierge) were apologetic and did everything to accommodate us on our final day at the resort. I will most definitely return to Now Amber!

Loved it!

Stayed at the Now Amber in August 2016 just before Labor Day weekend. Everything about it was great! We had a Preferred Club Room which offered a better location and easy access in and our of your room but not much else. I don't feel it's worth the extra "snacks" or having a bar in the building. All the restuarants were very good. We enjoyed the Sea Grill very much has excellent service. The Asian restuarant does not allow children "inside" but you can eat at the "outside" tables. It wasn't too hot considering it was August. I think children should be allowed inside and at the Teppanyaki tables... It was a little disappointing. My youngest is 11 and would behave just fine at a restuarant. If you don't want to be around children stay at the Secrets next door! You can walk to the Malecon although it is not that close in the heat of August it was too far. The Malecon is a great place to spend some time. We also had a massage outside of the hotel. If you walk out to the left there is a little village square with several massage place. It was great and only $40. for both my husband and I. Would have had several during the week had we known about it sooner. Pools were clean and beautiful, the entertrainment was excellent although they were moved inside it tends to rain in the evenings that time of year... Although gorgeous during the day. Bar service and drinks were very good, didn't seem watered down at all. View from everywhere was phenomenal! Would highly recommend the resort for familes and couples who don't mind having children around.
