Great hotel, awesome location!

This was my husband and my 2nd time to PVR, and my sixth time throughout the years. We absolutely love it there and Tropicana made it a great stay. The Hotel is very clean, and the staff is excellent. We were upgraded to a higher and nicer room upon check-in that had a beautiful ocean view. It's very quiet in PVR in October as it's the low season, but the 6 monthers started to trickle in throughout the week. It's also extremely hot and humid, we couldn't walk outside without starting to sweat. But the beautiful beach/ocean and the awesome pool definitely helped cool us down. Oh and the cervezas as well, only 100 pesos for a bucket of beers! It is in a perfect location and walking distance to restaurants/bars, shopping, etc.. It's in the more southern end of old downtown but only by a few blocks. We ate at Tropicana a couple times and it was good but we really enjoy venturing out to all the different restaurants in the area, which there are a ton! They only had sit up chairs on the beach, no loungers, they only provided loungers at the pool, so that's probably the only thing we'd change. We'd definitely stay at Tropicana again.

Pleasant stay

I had a pleasant stay at the Tropicana Hotel last weekend. If you are looking for luxury accommodations look somewhere else. What this hotel does offer are clean rooms , a great beachfront location on Playa Los Muertos ....all at a decent rate. The staff do a good job at making sure you are enjoying your stay, especially housekeeping. I noticed security staff also did their job well. There is no WiFi in rooms so keep that in mind if you are looking to stay connected. It's worth it to pay a bit extra for the nicer rooms (especially for the views). My only other recommendation is that you call the hotel before your arrival and confirm your reservation. I would definitely consider staying at the Hotel Tropicana on my next visit to Puerto Vallarta.

Great location the ambiance inside the room more likely your just around the tropical area Hawaii or Maldives...You will love this place during your staying. My friend booked this hotel for me under his name for 2 nights.Comfortable but I really just don't like carpeted floor hygiene concern. I embraced the moment I experienced from this hotel. such a wonderful feeling that once you feel so comfortable specially just around the city centre and you can enjoy walking around the strip enjoying the view outside of your window and sleep well at night.

Never again

This was my boyfriend and mine first stay in Puerto Vallarta and I wish I would of look around more. The only good thing I can say is that there staff was nice such as the maids, maintenance worker, and bellhops. The rooms are run down and they have the old school T.V. At times it was too hot to walk around so we spent some time in the room. The T.V had only 2 English stations so that was not enjoyable at all. The pool was overcrowded with kids and people. The water didn't look good at all. It was cloudy and one morning we saw them draining the pool. The only reason why the pool would be drained is someone did there business in there. My boyfriend and I got lock out on the balcony during a thunder storm because the slider was broken. We had to be rescued by our neighbor which she had to go get someone for us. The onsite restaurant wasn't good. I had to ask multiple times for things. It seemed the guy didn't like his job or like waiting on us. I feel bad for saying this.

First of all. I wanted my vacation to be a few days downtown and then went to an all inclusive property later on. That way I could do sight seeing and souvenier shopping without losing the expensive all inclusive paid days. The property itself is very clean and the landscaping is beautiful. Our room had a spectacular ocean view from our balcony. We stayed in a superior room and for the most part was basic, but still the maid cleaned well every day and one day put a towel swan in our room. That was a nice touch to put a smile on your face when you came back. The time we stayed there the pool was very crowded which is expected for the time of the year, but like I said we were there to roam downtown. The hotel does have a limited menu and a nice bar. I imagine the menu is limited because of the many choices travelers have just a couple of blocks down and by the beach. You can get great food at a lot of places on the Malecon. Probably the only downturn really was the beds. I don't mind a firm bed, but my wife and daughter likes to be comfy cozy and they were not. I definitely would stay again. I go to PV every couple of years and I like the setup of a few days downtown and then spending the rest of the time in the large resorts.
