A $6 million renovation later, Velas Vallarta looks absolutely gorgeous! This family friendly, tropical getaway with magnificent gardens, exquisite pool landscaping and endless activities, all set in a comfortable setting. Close to the Marina Vallarta, the Velas is almost a town unto itself, with its shopping arcade, restaurants, mini-market, deli and boutiques.
Location: On the beach in Marina Vallarta, 15 minute to downtown and, 5 minutes from the airport, minutes from a Joe Finger designed golf course.
The people at the hotel are awesome! They were there at every moment you needed them and were helpful as well! The views are extraordinary with the service of the staff ensuring you are enjoying your stay! They had many different events that were a lot of fun and our family enjoyed it.
It is an all inclusive deal, but well worth it, as you don't get the usual cheaper food but gourmet quality as well as the wines and liqueurs you chose from. The swimming pool is great and surprise snacks and even drinks were offered during the lazing guests around the pool area. The thing I like that it is close to bus transport taking one to the old town and places of interest.
Having just returned from my 2nd visit to Velas Vallarta, I don't even know how to start this review except to say this resort is simply incredible in every way and not only exceeded all expectations again, it blew them away. I've stayed at a number of lovely, high end resorts and can't remember a better experience than this one. There are not enough words in the dictionary to use to compliment the entire Velas Vallarta team. I have returned home feeling spoiled, pampered and ready to book my next visit. Resort: It's no secret how beautiful this resort is. A lush, tropical oasis that is immaculately clean and well-manicured. It is rare to find a leaf even out of place. Every pathway and corner you turn is picture postcard perfect. The beautiful ponds with koi fish and turtles, the resident iguanas and peacocks and the other gorgeous birds make you feel you are miles away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. There is plenty of room for everyone to spread out in and around the pools and the large beach. The whole setting is just stunning. Food: Tremendous. Wow. The quality, presentation and variety of foods is most impressive and resulted in many oooohs and ahhhs from our group. A member of our group had some detailed dietary restrictions that were handled without a problem. There are gluten-free and vegan menus available, which offered a surprising amount of choices. We wish every day of our lives could start off with the yummy breakfasts offered. Poolside snacks were delicious and many pizza places in the USA could learn a few things from the pizza makers at Velas Vallarta. Delicious. Dinners were a true, beautiful event no matter where you ate. Chilaquiles, waffles, banana bread, tamales, stir fry, fajitas, salsas, steaks, fruit, salads, sandwiches, seafood, pasta......the list goes on and on. It's all available. The re-fried beans and guacamole are to die for as well. You can't possibly go hungry and we looked forward to every meal. The Culinary team has really hit a home run.Rooms: Huge, roomy, comfortable and well stocked with enough snacks and drinks for a small army. Housekeeping was prompt and kept the room looking excellent. Room service was also prompt and we appreciated how they graciously set it up for you rather than just dropping it on the counter and leaving. Staff/Service: Never in my life have I come across a group of such talented, gracious, friendly, professional and accommodating individuals. Each employee goes above and beyond and anticipates your every need. Going the extra mile isn't a rarity, it's an every day occurrence here. We all were astounded by the thoughtfulness of the staff, their willingness to please and their attention to detail. Nothing was too much. Everyone deserves our thank you, from the guest services to housekeeping to landscaping to the spa and beyond. I wanted to highlight some employees that really made our stay amazing, as they are so deserving of special mention. La Ribera - Christina, Saul, Sergio, Angel, Rigiberto (spelling?), Santos Poolside - Alfredo, Edwin, Ivan, Jacqueline, Marcelino Andrea - Julio, Christopher, Cesar (there were 2 of them), Adrian (having trouble remembering his exact name, but it started with an A) Concierge - Olivia - who arranged a private tour to Sayulita for us with guide Jose. Both were so kind and helpful. These folks provided extremely attentive, professional service and they were also FUN! Please rest assured that whomever takes care of you poolside or at the restaurants is going to be outstanding. Again, I wish I could mention everyone's name that we came into contact with, but they are all so great!! Excellent, excellent, consistently excellent service in all areas. Any gratuities you can extend to the staff are much appreciated as they are more than deserving of this small recognition. And of course, hotel manager Juan Carlos, who is not only a very visible manager, but extremely friendly with a desire to ensure everyone feels a part of the family and is well taken care of. From morning to night, he popped up everywhere. What a gracious man who is to be commended for his leadership and inspiring employees to do their very best. It is very clear by the smiling faces and eagerness to serve that a sense of pride is present all over this property. The people of Velas Vallarta make the difference. Prepare to be wowed. Activities: There are a number of fun events you can take part in during the day, such as mexican bingo, water aerobics, volleyball, card games and more. All of them are lead by Christian, who is a wonderful ambassador for Velas Vallarta and does a great job morning, noon and night. I don't think he ever sleeps. Such a friendly and fun guy. Evenings feature a different show, whether it be dancing or magic or casino nights. Don't miss the big Mexican Fiesta on Sundays!!!! A shout out also to the friendly and talented Mariachi band as well as the lovely female singer in Andrea Restaurant. This resort really has thought of everything. I honestly don't know how they do it. Amazing food, amazing service, beautiful rooms and grounds, fun activities and more. And don't forget CLEAN. This is honestly a Four Seasons type experience without the Four Seasons price tag. My highest praise and compliments to everyone at Velas Vallarta. You've created another lovely set of memories. I can't wait to return. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else in Puerto Vallarta.
Traveled to PV in September on a family vacation with 2 kiddos (ages 2 and 4.) ROOM: The 1 bedroom suite was perfectly sized for our family. We had a GORGEOUS view from the 9th floor. Only concern was that the balcony was unsafe for the kiddos w/o direct adult supervision because the railing could easily be climbed over. Loved having a refrigerator and snacks in the room!FOOD: Delish! Only 2 restaurants, but this worked fine as they rotated their menus. Had some amazing mahi-mahi and steak. Buffet was always fresh. Room service was prompt.DRINKS: All of my drinks were delish. Any request for premium liquor was honored. They made some tasty virgin smoothies for the kiddos.SERVICE: We went during middle of the week and the resort was only at 10% capacity. Very prompt and courteous service. Friendly staff.POOLS: Lazy river was a little lazier than expected and they didn't have any floaties. Bring your own or purchase from the gift shop. There were a few kid's toys to use in the kiddo pool.KIDS: This was perfect for toddlers. The couch turned into a bed, so my 2 year old just slept on that mattress on the floor. Nice not having to worry about him falling out of bed. They LOVED the kiddie pool. Plenty of delicious things for them to eat. The peacocks and fish were a big hit. (You can buy fish food for $1 at the on-site market.) Peacocks can be rather aggressive at trying to get to food, so keep an eye. They are easy to shoo off if needed. Very handy to have a carton of milk in the frig (bring your own sippy cups.)Overall would definitely recommend. MANY positives including delicious food, warm pools, and amazing service. Best views of any resort we've been to. Loved that it was only a 5 minute ride from the airport. Only negative was the balcony was not safe for toddlers, so might want to request a ground floor room or just keep the balcony locked if not directly supervising.
4 of us stayed in a 2 bedroom unit with living room, ocean view balcony and 2 kitchens (each had a large snack box and the refrigerators were stocked with pop and beer). The drinks were tasty, unique and not watered down! You name the drink and they made it. The waiters at the pool were great, no wondering where they are when you need a drink. In addition to the drinks, we could order food from a menu at the pool. The entire staff acted like they really enjoyed their jobs. There were new daily activities to choose from (human foosball is great). Tons of activities for the kids. Plus every morning yoga and every afternoon water aerobics. Nightly entertainment of all sorts. Excellent food at the restaurants with a new and unique (ethnic) dinner menu every night. All you have to do is make a reservation or you can always eat at the buffet. They even have a complimentary bar hopping bus for those who want to party late (you pay for your drinks at the bars). I will definitely stay here again. Pay your all-inclusive prior to your stay to get extras like golf, transportation to OR from the airport, and a cultural OR city tour.
